Adebayor Seeks Togolese Post
May 31st, 2007 by 'holic
There appears to be a gradual leak of genuine news for us to feast on in these barren days, starting with Emmanuel Adebayor‘s disagreement with his National Association. It would seem that unless he presents himself for duty for Togo’s match with Sierra Leone on Sunday he will be dropped from the team that he thinks he’s banned from anyway! It would appear there is a little problem with air mail deliveries these days. Any chance this row could develop into suspension from the African Cup of Nations next year? I think not.
Gilberto Silva has been telling journalists ahead of the England versus Brazil friendly that the visitors are not just a two man team, although the temptation to suggest that Ronaldinho and Kaka would be enough to see off the hosts in a competitive game must have been strong. Now if he had been arguing that England are a two man team…….I’ll leave you to work out that one.
Jens Lehmann is also using the international week to reaffirm his position as Arsenal and German number one. “I will play until the time comes when somebody is better than me” said the crazy one. “When I am physically fit and have nothing distracting me mentally, then nobody can match me for experience,” The words that worried me there were “When I … have nothing distracting me mentally”. I know you know what I mean!
Other than that it is largely regurgitated speculation. The names run around the web in ever increasing circles. Henry, Eto’o, Ribery, Cisse (!), Zapater (didn’t he have a fine moustache?), Reo-Coker (no, honestly!), and Briand (altogether now – WHOOOO?) are mentioned in the last ten hours as I write.
I’m assuming Henry features because we are in line to sign him back from, err, has he actually gone anywhere yet? Blimey, he would be a capture, wouldn’t he!

I wonder if he’s referring to his sometimes erratic performances last season when he was mulling over his options of whether to sign a one year contract with Arsenal or take up a 2 year deal elsewhere?
A motivated Lehman would be great for us and not only does he have competition from Fabianski, he also has Euro 2008 to keep him on his toes.
