'Holic Player Of The Season
May 16th, 2007 by 'holic
It is that time of year, and with the greatest of pleasure I announce the winner of the first ‘Holic Player of the Season award…(struggles to open envelope)…
Surely there can be no doubt that the goalkeeper of the magnificent, all-conquering, quadruple-winning Arsenal Ladies team is a worthy recipient of such an accolade? ‘Holics everywhere, I give you, Emma Byrne.
Emma has made forty appearances between the sticks for Arsenal this season, with hopefully one more to come in the last league match on Sunday as the Ladies bid to complete an unbeaten season in all competitions. The photograph shows the Irish international with the UEFA Womens Cup, won by Arsenal for the first time this season and largely because of Emma’s performance in the second leg of the Final.
(With all due respect to Bert, Cesc and Gael, who seem to have been clearing up all of the other bloggers gongs. You may have noticed that this post is categorized as ‘tongue in cheek’, which is quite coincidental really as it is very close to my idea of the prize that this years worthy recipient should receive!)

The lovely Kez went to college with some of the Arsenal ladies. She was sicked by the fact that they showered together. I just nodded firmly, frowned, said “I agree, terrible” then went into one of the most fantastic day dreams I’m ever likely to have. Back to the real world… I think it’s good that someone has taken the ladies into account. Yours is the only site I have seen do such a thing when considering player of the season. Nice one ‘holic. Oh and erm, do you think the ladies need a back scratcher for in the showers? *Drawls*
You dirty old bugger GH!!
I like it 😉
That may be so Paul, but judging by the number of visitors I’m getting today I’m not alone in my admiration for Emma’s fine statistics…
Well she may be a great keeper but she seems to be lacking upfront!!
