Apologies to those of you who arrived earlier looking for a comment on a thoroughly impressive 2-0 triumph at Sparta Prague. I have to confess, as well most of you know, it was a difficult game to follow last night, and I have just checked out the highlights.
By now you will have gleaned the gist of what happened from other sources. Sparta came close to an early goal but the post came to the rescue. They were also guilty of some severe challenges and little Cesc Fabregas appeared to take divine retribution on the former clumsy Hammer, Repka, forcing him out of the game.
Cesc himself took the maximum advantage when giving the visitors the lead after some tremendous approach work by Clichy. A very pleasing nights work was concluded when Sagna produced a lung-bursting run down the left flank to set up the now-prolific Hleb for a second consecutive last-gasp clincher.
And there I go again. I don’t mean to be disrespectful to Hleb but his new found role as support striker and scorer of goals is as surprising as it is welcome. It would appear that at least one of the strikers ruled out of the first two matches by injury, namely Eduardo, will be fit for the weekend trip to Blackburn. An interesting selection poser faces Arsene Wenger.
For my part I think it is a little early to be thinking of ‘rotating’ the squad. I would go with the men in form, a third unchanged selection in a row, injuries permitting. Once again the weekend will provide a viewing challenge for me. I have to attend a wedding in the west of England. I’m not even sure that television has made it as far as Bristol!
In other words I will not be around again for a couple of days. That was not a problem until recently. However, you are turning up in ever greater numbers week by week, for which I thank you. If I am away for a couple of days please accept my apologies, and come back again. In the meantime check out the links in the sidebar. There are some tremendous Arsenal sites out there, we are extremely lucky.

“If it aint broke, don’t fix it!” Eboue is out so either Walcott or Denilson on the right, and keep Hleb where he is. It’s going to a physical game, we all know that, so The Flamster should start. He may not be the biggest bloke in the world, but he’ll run his arse off for 90 minutes doind all he can to help him team mates.
I didn’t see the game, I was on my way back from London when we played but from what I’ve seen I’m both delighted and disgusted. Disgusted with the behaviour of the Prague players and the referee. The Champions League is supposed to be really strick on dirty play, but the referee didn’t care one bit. Shameful. On the other hand, I’m delighted the boys didn’t sink to their level. Instead they played their hearts out, refused to be bullied and beat the dirty buggers. We have a great lead, but the job isn’t done yet, let’s tear them to shreds in a couple of weeks.
Good thinking Simmo, but now Rosicky and Eboue are out there may be a rethink. It will be interesting who plays on the left, possibly Eduardo. With Walcott on the right we could maintain the system that has yielded dividends in the opening couple of games. Already we are looking short of that wide player we have all been calling for!
Looks like a couple of readers have been having problems subscribing using the orange buttons. If you are getting an error message I would love to know what it is as I cannot replicate the problem on a mac or pc. Thanks.
