Manuel To Play – Win A Tee Shirt
Oct 19th, 2007 by 'holic
OK, I didn’t think I would, but I have found ten minutes to look at the Bolton game coming up on Saturday. The biggest news coming out of the Arsene Wenger interview on ATVO is that Manuel Almunia will retain his place in goal despite the recent mutterings of Jens Lehmann.
‘Jens has not played for us yet he has played for Germany. He will come back and fight to regain his place. That is the best solution”, said Wenger, arguing the case for stability.
That is a big call by ‘Le Boss’, and I hope Manuel justifies the faith being shown in him. Like Jens he has made a couple of errors this season but has also put together a string of solid performances, and is hopefully growing into the role.
Philippe Senderos and Robin van Persie will sadly miss out due to injury, and could be replaced by the fit again William Gallas, and the man who cannot stop scoring for Croatia, Eduardo.
Bolton will arrive having rather carelessly lost their second Sam in six months. Of the Lee dismissal Wenger admitted it was “sad because he didn’t get the time to turn things his way”.
They could also be without winger Christian Wilhelmsson, injured playing for Sweden against Northern Ireland in the week, and somebody called Anelka. That name rings a bell.
Sometimes you feel pity for a club struggling at the wrong end of the table. This is Bolton we are talking about though. Purveyors of anti-football. I would love to see Arsenal hand out the sort of devastating defeat we know they are capable of. Fear ye not, however, if you have had your correct score punt, I’ll stick with the 2-0 forecast I predicted yesterday.
Reminder, Win A Tee Shirt
Don’t forget, to be in with a chance to win the arseshirts tee pictured on yesterdays’ blog, just email me with the name of the player you think will score the first goal at the Grove tomorrow. I will accept ‘no goalscorer’ if you fancy a 0-0 draw. Email your entry to ‘competition@goonerholic.com‘.
Show Me The Way To Go Home!
Tomorrow promises to be a long and tiring day. I have to be in N5 for a meeting at eleven, and knowing my inability to refuse any offer of hospitality I expect to be watching the rugby world cup final in the vicinity of the Grove. If you should happen to see an old fool in a ‘holic tee shirt staggering around Holloway Road after the game would you take pity and accompany me to the nearest tube station. It would also be appreciated if you could direct me to the southbound platform. Thank you.
