Will We Have To Depart Colorado Rapid?
Oct 25th, 2007 by 'holic
I have just arrived in Scotland after a long but relatively stress-free drive. First thing to report to you is that the locals are positively gushing about North London’s finest based on what they have seen of Arsenal this season.
Second thing to report is that the Caledonian Brewery 80/- beer is a very refreshing pick-me-up indeed.
Yet of more concern right now is the news I have opened my free wireless connection to find. Tottenham’s UEFA Cup defeat could only be expected. If Derby are the only team in England they could beat then Getafe would clearly be a step too far! However, did they really have to part company with Martin Jol, who was obviously taking the club in the right direction? Good luck fella, we’ll miss you.
Back to more important matters, and Stan Kroenke appears ready to secure the immediate future of the Gunners board by buying in to the lockdown agreement, according to The Times.
Stan has undergone a massive change in the perception stakes since David Dein pledged his troth to his new Uzbek partner, and I am as grateful as the next man that Kroenke is throwing his not inconsiderable influence behind the incumbents of the Grove boardroom.
However, the man is still ideally poised to take advantage of the situation in the long term should Alisher Usmanov decide to cash up and look elsewhere. I hope that the Arsenal Supporters Trust are able to use the lockdown period to pick up both influence and shares while the club are perched precariously between hungry looking vultures.
Just as a matter of interest, does anybody know how early I would have to leave an Arsenal game in Colorado to get the last flight home to blighty?

As long as Arsene is the manager you will not have to worry about that!
If you want to avoid the spurs future .. Then those share need to be captured.. If you find the McEwans 80 shilling give that a bash too as its very good.. If your near Sherif miur (stirling) then drive up and eat in the pub its excellent.. On more scary note.. My beloved daughter might be trying out for a very famous ladies team next year.. OOOwee I will eat shit first!! Martin has gone and so have the chances of your neighbors ever climbing back .. Now we must wait I suppose for a 1 in the year.. Mean while that friend of yours WEENGER goes from strength to strength.. I cant bear it any more.. Im watching baseball for the next few weeks.. Im sure many of your friends on the other site are giggling and making merry at or mirth!!
Caley is my usual drink here, ‘holic.
But I’ll have to stay in this weekend due to virus.
Thankfully, I think I’ll have the game live on TV on sunday!
Enjoy the rest of your trip.
It’s a fairly long drive from Denver to the Denver airport, and I don’t even know where the Rapids play (although I lived in the area for a little over two years from around 1996-1998).
I lost out entirely on the Old Peculier search in London. It was a bit of a damper on an otherwise excellent day trip into the old town. When things were looking bleak, I went to the Round Table pub in Leicester Square, where I’d enjoyed a pint of OP on my last trip (around 1998). Hand on heart, Gonnerholic, they no longer carry OP. I opted for a Bombardier instead, and it was a decent pint, no complaints about it, but I still felt hard done by that the OP was so elusive.
I can stay state-side and miss out on the OP. I presumed that finding pints of OP in London would be like finding mormons in Salt Lake. I’ll have to do a bit of research next time.
The French Gooners I met in London like the Metro bar – I think that’s what it’s called, right outside the Holloway Road stop. A decent watering hole, but not the postcard-perfect London pub a once-in-ten-years trip into town demands.
The lads did their bit though. The Bolton performance was a great warm up for the Champions League masterclass.
Cusop – Don’t eat it own shit. Very few things are worth that.
your own shit…. I hate typos
Heh, 433.
Funnily enough I did spend a short time in the Metro Bar after the Bolton game, waiting for Holloway Road to open up again. Did they mention seeing a suave, debonair and distinguished gentleman in a ‘holic teeshirt?
😉
British Air has daily nonstops to London at around 8:30 pm as I recall from when I took it last summer. Just read in today’s paper that another ailine (United?) will be starting the same in the near future, don’t know the time. Denver’s airport is far from Denver but the new Rapids stadium is on the same side of town so it wouldn’t be a long drive, maybe 20 minutes. Oh, you said an Arsenal game — you mean on TV? They’re on early in the morning here so no problem making that evening flight.
