Fab Chance For Denilson

He is not an entirely different build to Cesc Fabregas. He shares a lot of the little Spaniards qualities on the field of play. He has a good eye for a pass and yet is not afraid to put his foot in. At just nineteen years of age he is a year behind the number four for whom he will almost certainly deputise against Wigan Athletic. Cesc’s suspension, possibly carefully engineered, gives the Brazilian, Denilson, an opportunity to show just how far he has come in little more than a year at the Grove. In an ideal world he would slot seamlessly into the middle of the park alongside Mathieu Flamini and Alexander Hleb. The international week has taken its toll however, and both of those players, along with Abou Diaby, are ruled out by injury. Luckily Arsenal have considerable strength in depth in the central midfield area. So much so that World Cup winner Gilberto Silva is likely to be kept out again on his return from national duty by Arsenal’s newest recruit, Lassana Diarra.
Rudderless Wigan have a good selection of solid professionals who deserve respect, but perhaps lack that little spark that separates the sides at the foot of the table from those in a more comfortable berth. A bright start to the season quickly evaporated and only Derby now separate the Latics from the bottom of the pile.
A year ago this is precisely the sort of contest that might have caused us some concern. The evidence of this term though suggests we are better equipped to deal with the situation, and the ‘holic pound is going on a 2-0 win for the Gunners.
It looks like being a chilly old weekend, so wrap up warm if you are going tomorrow. I wish you all a happy weekend, whatever it has in store for you.

If he plays, I’ll be hoping that Denny displays the shooting skills he’s shown so far this season. I’ve been hugely impressed with him in the glimpses I’ve seen of him, and he looks a real cracking player. In any other central midfield, bar ‘yer top four’, he’d be an automatic starter.
Here’s to seeing Denilson strutting his stuff against wigan, to god effect.
Hello there and good evening to you, mister ‘Holic 😉

I wish to see Diarra partner Denilson in the middle of the park. I htink we’ll see good performances from those two.
