Friday Team News
Nov 16th, 2007 by 'holic
Just like any other Friday we need to concentrate on the latest team news. Much has been written and you need to have precious little else to do to keep up with it all.
In goal, fresh on the heels of Manuel Almunia revealing he spent his honeymoon signing for Arsenal, we have Jens Lehmann vowing to stay with the club, for better or worse, come the January transfer window. Jens gets some much needed action against Cyprus on Saturday, while Almunia’s usher, Lukasz Fabianski, will be checking out the pews at the meeting of Poland and Belgium.
At the back Lassana Diarra would appear to have been preferred to Bacary Sagna for France against Morocco, and he lines up alongside William ‘the conqueror’ Gallas. Emmanuel Eboue and Kolo Toure should also feature in the French capital over the weekend as the Ivory Coast take on Angola.
Midfield inspiration will be apparent in Albania, where Alexander Hleb will be prompting Belarus, Prague, where Tomas Rosicky will lead the Czech Republic into action against their brothers from Slovakia, and Peru, where Paddington Bear will be cheering on the hosts against Gilberto Silva and the Brazilians. Mathieu Flamini is dusting the benches in Paris as I type.
Striking will be hot in Norn Iron, where Niklas Bendtner will hope to display the full range of his talents for Denmark, and in Macedonia (altogether now, WHOOOO?) where Eduardo will be looking to score the goal that condemns England (WHHOOOOO?) to a summer holiday in Cornwall.
As I type England have just found a way past the excellent Alex Manninger in Austria. But in all honesty, what chance do they have with no Arsenal players? It is blatantly clear to me that the national side should have included in their squad some of the excellent bunch of youngsters being developed by Steve Bould.
If only other clubs were working so conscientiously to provide England with such a glittering future!

Thrist?
Last time, I promise.
no matter how i look at that it’s not quite right, thirst(?) is the best i can come up with
You’ll have to forgive Pip, Kid, he works in a top secret coding establishment, responsible for the safety of some very important people, and sometimes he brings his work home with him!
