Butt Me No Buts
Jan 25th, 2008 by 'holic
The longest four days of the season will finally come to an end when Kevin Keegan leads his Magpies out at the Grove in the fourth round of the FA Cup. A cracking atmosphere is guaranteed as the barcodes have taken their full allocation of tickets, consigning me to an upper tier seat.
One result of Tuesday’s debacle is that Denilson joins Robin van Persie and Johan Djourou in the sick bay. To be fair I think it unlikely that he would have played. Arsene Wenger says he “will rotate” which to me says a return for the first team players absent at White Hart Lane.
Both Emanuel Adebayor and Nicklas Bendtner are free to play after the FA decided they could not act on a reported clash between the pair on Tuesday. The suits will write a letter asking them to not be naughty boys again after hearing the pair had been caught in a loving embrace and full-on snog at training yesterday. Apparently Ade misunderstood his managers instruction to ‘use his head’ if the two strikers got in each others way. With Nicky Butt in the Newcastle side tomorrow Wenger has promised to be more specific in his pre-match instructions.
Most interesting for me will be how Newcastle approach the game now Keegan has had his first look at the side and had a week more to work with them. With the same opponents providing the opposition in the Premier League next Tuesday he may use Saturday as a dress rehearsal and look to keep things tight. History, however, suggests he may well send his side out to have a real go, which could provide an afternoon of rich entertainment. Let’s hope so.
The ‘holic pound is to be punted tentatively on 3-1 (best price 11/1 at Party Bets). A result to lift everybody is required, and after a shaky start I see us getting it. A back up will be risked on the draw at half-time, Arsenal to win at 7/2.
Euromillions Rollovers Required
The Evening Standard reports that Comrade Usmanov is preparing to offload his 23% stake in the club if a buyer can be found. Alisher, me old mucker, I have an interest in a £54 million fund that may or may not become available tonight. I don’t suppose…? No, I thought not. Let’s hope the winning combination doesn’t come up for another few weeks yet then!
So that’s me for another Friday. If you are going tomorrow and see me there, I’ll have a Guinness please. If you are not fortunate enough to have a ticket I hope you enjoy the weekend, whatever you are planning. I’ll be back on Sunday with a full report of what I can remember of the game. Hopefully it’s a bit more than the last time!

I’m hoping to see a galvanised Arsenal ready to shame the critics who think our season is over. Come on you Reds!
The joy of ignorance ‘holic.. I have a feeling you will be playing a reply in the dark cold north
Twice in a week cus? I wonder why! Actually history suggests we will react the right way. The last time we lost to Spurs we beat Middlesbrough 5-1 in the next match. Mind, I think they had a long trip down by horse-drawn carriage, and didn’t fancy heading that heavy old ball with the big lace in it!

Worrying indeed siren,
Let us hope for the best outcome. We may even get the big man back earlier than expected. It looked a bad one though.

But is it – NO ADEBAYOR, NO ARSENAL ??????????
Diaby was pathetic yesterday – he made the difference – whether v having scored 3(or 2 for dat matter) and cud have gone on2score 5 or 6.
Fabregas has lost his strking prowess. Flamini is needed alot at the back. Hleb & Eboue work hard but they dont come on2striking positions. Rosicky/RVP – Injury Prone. Walcott – hopeful but v dont have da time dis season 2 wait & c if he improves..
So v need a breakaway attacking midfielder who can deliver lethal strikes not lethargic Diaby strikes..
V took the ball & have been taking the ball so beautifuly to the opponent’s penalty area so many times this season..&more often than not – v just simply crumble in front of Goal..
Dis doesnt happen 2Manu – Opponents are so worried of strikers -Tevez & Rooney..&da cunt who actually causes trouble is their Lead -midfielder – Ronaldo..V need this option as well..Reason y am comparing 2Man u- is bcos v need2beat dem dis season..
&1-0,2-0 wins at da Premier League wont be enough..y ? bcos dats y v arent at the TOP of the table today, ya..
