It's Our Turn To Get The Attitude Right
Mar 31st, 2008 by 'holic
After the heart-stopping excitement of the Reebok it was a little more of what I’m used to as I took my seat in front of the Merseyside derby yesterday. Liverpool played a high-tempo game, created a number of chances, failed to take all but one of them, and ended up grateful for the points in a game they dominated. Does that sound familiar?
The Champions League quarter-final opponents both appear to be coming back into a bit of form after recent disappointments. Liverpool’s defeat at Old Trafford was almost as tame a surrender as our FA Cup reverse on the same ground. If Everton had got a result yesterday the Anfield side would have been struggling to hold on to that fourth place in the table. To be fair, that never looked likely.
We may be going into Wednesday’s game with the slightest of psychological advantages. Coming from two down on a miserable afternoon in the north-west, against a bogey side, and with only ten men, must have restored a lot of the belief that had been eroded in the previous five league matches.
Provided batteries are recharged the side will go into the home leg of this massive tie with confidence restored. In all honesty I am more concerned that we, the supporters, go into the game in the right frame of mind.
There is no doubt Liverpool will come first and foremost to frustrate, and look to nick something on the break. That should come as no surprise to anybody, and they are very good at it. We should draw on the Milan contest. If the home leg remains goalless for a long time keep right behind the side. 0-0 would not be a surprise scoreline, neither would it hand any massive advantage to the visitors. Only an away goal would do that.
I’ll be back tomorrow with my guess at our starting line-up, and the usual prediction. Until then, stay calm, and protect those vocal chords for Wednesday.
Psst. Anyone Got Twelve Together?
Apparently the two Liverpool owners have expressed a wish to be seated apart from each other at the game on Wednesday. At this late stage that may prove a little difficult for Arsenal to accommodate, so I am prepared to make a personal sacrifice for the good name of Arsenal Football Club.
Depending on which of the two parties needs to be re-positioned I, and either one or eleven of my mates, will grudgingly swap our £60 seats in the Clock End Upper for a place in the directors box. I know the hospitality up there is likely to be a little rich for our blood, but we are prepared to put up with it for the good of these two fellas.
I wonder what the scousers who couldn’t get tickets for the game make of the petty-minded behaviour of this pair of privileged pillocks? Does anybody, I wonder, still want to see Arsenal get taken over by ‘investors’?

You’re such a gentleman, ‘holic.
I think Wednesday’s got 0-0 written all over it. I think that will be a decent result for us because I’m convinced we’ll beat them in the league game and give ourselves a slight psychological advantage.
Actually, I’m more concerned about the League game.
Rafa will come out cautious, in a 4-5-1. It will be interesting to see how Wenger lines up his team.
The thing about Rafa’s 4-5-1 is that his ‘1’ is a helluva gem. I wish Nando would just get catch a flu bug.
Anyway…
The next four games are crazy tough, and it’ll take the best of us to get even satisfactory results. And yes, I believe we can bring it.
COME ON ARSENAL!
i know we can win the game ,Come on!!!
