Rocky 7 Day
Mar 30th, 2008 by 'holic
I have been contacted by Aron and Marc who have set up a tribute site to David Rocastle. Monday, almost unbelievably, marks the seventh anniversary of Rocky’s passing.
For those of you sadly too young to have seen why David’s name is still sung with pride at Arsenal games I would suggest you take a look at the video on the ‘Rocky Links’ page of their site, which can be found at www.rocky7.co.uk
Those goals bring back fabulous memories, and look at where he scored them. Old Trafford, Anfield and White Hart Lane held no fears for the brilliant number seven.
The stature of the guy ensured that the one minute silence for him was observed immaculately by both sets of supporters at a North London derby. I don’t mind admitting there was not a dry eye, certainly not mine, at Highbury that day.
Aron and Marc are looking to make as much money as possible for Treehouse, Arsenal’s official charity this season, through the sale of limited edition teeshirts from arseshirts. If you prefer there is a link on the home page where you can just make a donation. I would ask you all please to visit Rocky7 and buy a shirt, or give what you can afford, to celebrate the unique talent that was David Carlyle Rocastle.
We miss you fella.

First drink!
Can I keep it until wednesday though?
I’m on call, you see.
Ah, so that’s what the comment was about, not some Gus Caesar relative!
Great stuff! (and I ordered a T-shirt yesterday 🙂 )
It just seems like yesterday I was in tears on the Clock End.
I got to the game just before kick off & hadn’t heard that Rocky had died. I asked Des who sat beside me “why is everyone chanting Rocky’s name?”
I watched that game through a veil of tears – one of my worst ever times at Highbury.
I remember hearing about it in the Bank of Friendship pre game. This guy was my first Arsenal hero, the reason I played on the wing in the playground. A Gooner from Lewisham like myself, but he always seemed like such a nice guy too.
Thanks for that guys. Can we just keep this to ourselves. I even had a little weep watching that video.
