Nasri Looks Like A Pawn In A Bigger Game
May 22nd, 2008 by 'holic
If the Daily Telegraph has a handle on events surrounding the proposed transfer of Samir Nasri to Arsenal then do not be surprised to see this one fizzle out. Oliver Brown’s report hints at games being played by Nasri’s agent, Jean-Pierre Bernes.
Arsenal will be furious that the negotiations became public before they were finalised. All and sundry have now been alerted to the possibility of hijacking the deal. Arsenal may decide to return to their ‘alleged’ original target, Hatem Ben Arfa, and scupper any swap deal being engineered between Lyon and Marseilles.
We are about to discover just how highly Arsene Wenger really regards Nasri, or more importantly, those around him.
That’s that then
I suppose I cannot let the day pass without comment on that game last night. Delighted though I was to see Chelsea’s left-back end the season empty-handed I also have to feel for their travelling support. We have been there, haven’t we. The journey to a foreign land that began with so much hope turns into a sickening trip home, the bile dancing up and down your windpipe and burning a hole in your stomach. That sense of having been denied your rightful triumph. You just want to be sick and hide yourself away from those intent on mocking.
As usual, we’ve been there before you. You can buy results but you can’t buy history. Chin up chaps. Tee-hee.

Morning ‘holic.
La Provence still thinks Nasri is coming to Arsenal, ‘holic…And thinks his agent is just pissing about
I’m so happy this morning. Seeing Cashley Cunt crying was really great. He said he left Arsenal to win things so he’s won things. Why not? 10 minutes play in Carling Cup and FA cup finals.
This is the last chance for them and the beginning of a long dry seasons of emptiness at the Stamford Bridge.
Supposedly Arsene and this Jean-Pierre Bernes are mortal enemies from the Monaco days. Wenger refuses to deal with him. Just heard that, not sure if it’s true…
“You can buy results but you can’t buy history”
WELL Man u just bought BOTH !!!!
The Nasri deal will be concluded before the end of the week. I heard from a very reliable source that the 3rd bid for Nasri has come in from spurs. Apparently they have offered 2.5 mil more than us for the player which has immediatly caused his agent to see bigger commissions. The player will choose Arsenal everyday. The problem is the longer it goes on the more likely hood of a 4th team coming in for him.
Morning all!
*waves at everybody*
[…] is the first official word that Arsenal are interested in Nasri. But unfortunately, as Goonerholic has cleverly pointed out, Bernes’ big mouth may do more harm than good. Arsene Wenger will have to work out just how […]
Nasri and Ben Arfa,who’s better?

hmmmm…interesting comment which personally I think is bollocks. Man Utd did buy all their first team but then again so did we. Theirs cost more but then theirs are winning things, BIG things. Who would say that Ronaldo is not worth the £16mil Fergie spent on him. A club with the money would spend 5 times that much for him now. Has Hleb grown 5 times in value? or Rosicky? or Walcott? Theo Walcott could end up costing as much as Ronaldo did by the end of next season, and by then he would have been at Arsenal 3 years. Ronaldo had become immense after 3 years, do you think we’ll get the same out of Walcott?
The fact is this, Man Utd are a big club with big players, a great history and a fantastic manager. Don’t get me wrong I hate a lot about them. I hate Fergie’s influence of officials and the media’s nonchalance about it. I hate the arrogance of the Utd players, they’re ALL ridiculously arrogant. If just one descision CORRECTLY goes against them then they go insane and berate the officials. You could see it in the match against Chelsea. And then they have the balls to say Chelsea are in the wrong to challenge refs. C*nts! They think they’re entitled to the League in the same way that they’re entitled to every descision, it makes me sick. I would take no greater joy than seeing Arsenal beat them in every competition but until we start spending money on players it just won’t happen.
We’re going to go into next season without a suitable captain, possibly without a suitable centreback, probably without a suitable partner for Cesc and almost definitely without a suitable striking partnership. That means we’re f*cked regardless of how good our play is because without those essentials you’re always destined to fall at the last hurdle just like this season. And if we don’t win one of the 2 trophies that Man U “bought” well then we’ll lose players like Clichy, Cesc, Van Persie (Adebayor too but f*ck him he’s not good enough in reality to worry about). I actually agree with Wenger in that Arsenal’s play now is better than that of the invincibles era. I’ve been watching replays and you can see it. But Gallas doesn’t lead like Viera, Gilberto can’t keep up with the pace like Flamini learnt to, neither Gallas nor Toure can defend the air like Sol and Adebayor/Van Persie is no Henry/Bergkamp. Things can be turned around though.
If Wenger brings in an EXPERIENCED aerial centre-back from England or Eastern Europe that can partner Gallas or Toure, a strong battling partner for Cesc with some experience, a crafty direct winger and a super striker (along with full-back back up) we might have a shot after all.
This isn’t coming though because our tight arse board aren’t insisting on the spending and Wenger is too head f*cked to realise he has to demand it. He doesn’t think we need it so he won’t.
If the bookies would take this bet I’d bet a lot that we don’t win anything next season, a whole load of Club level don’t renew their season tickets, the club becomes f*cked financially, we lose our best players and it get’s taken over…hopefull by Kronke but probably but Usmanov. Bye bye Arsenal, f*ck you board and Wenger
Morning. Short, concise and well written.
I missed Dirtbags sending off. What was it for, falling over again?
Bit OTT Ben?
But agree with Kronke.
F & O can fly away
You HAve to buy trophies these days. we are not in the 80’s anymore. a sounds youth system does not win you a trophy these days. as some point you need to buy the best, and that costs money. If Arsenal dont have the money then its hard to see us really competing with Man u and Chelsea. I think we overacheived this season. we did better than we should have done until March.
Its unlikely we can repeat that start again next season.
i think its time for us to be taken over by ushmanov he is richer then abramovich and will spalsh the cash.
get dien back in so we can do some transfers properly. who ever is in charge of transfers at Arsenal is fuking things up, like the flamster, woodgate and a few more.
if you pay penuts you get monkies.
Ben, your a disgrace to say f*ck off Wenger, people like you really piss me off, he is one of the greatest managers in the world. you’re a p*ick.
thenry, the guy in front of you just asked for large fries with that cheeseburger.
Ben seriously bud I question if you really are an Arsenal supporter because your post is exactly whats wrong with plastic fans that are new to our club. Wenger will buy and so what if its nobody we have ever heard of? Bacary Sangna, Cesc, Toure, + all the legends that are no longer with us were all nobodies at one stage. You should be optimistic about our season ahead instead of promoting this doom and gloom attitude. While I agree that this will be a big season for Wenger I have NO doubt that it will happen for us. You talk about Walcott not being worth much after 2 years while I disagree completely. Yes Ronaldo is worth triple the amount Fergie payed for him but then he was crap his first 2 seasons for United. Walcott will get his first full season and then we can judge him. By the way we dont need a striker Ben. Adebayor scored 30+ goals for us and he will be better next season so fuk off and enjoy your teams CL win last night. kunt
As people have mentioned, Bernès is a dodgy relic from the Tapie days.
He can go f*** himself as far as I’m concerned.
Hello ‘holic and sorry for the crude language. 😉
No worries Ollie, and welcome to some familiar strangers. 😉
You seem to have left the door ajar and a couple of passing doomers have poked their heads in!
I know it shows a personality deficiency and a distinct lack of class but I must admit that when John Terry hit the post last night I laughed my
cobblers off.Petty but there you are.
More optimistic for the coming season than last.We start off with the best pair of fullbacks in the league in Clichy and Sagna.
Arguably the best midfielder in Cesc and the second highest goalscorer
in Adebayor.
Thierry Henry (or someone of his equivalent) is not leaving the club this close season.
Van Persie free of injuries (please god) would make a massive difference.
Gunnergossip, feel free to ask me before spamming my site with a newsfeed that does not include Goonerholic.
Go Get NASRI!!!!!
holic: “You seem to have left the door ajar and a couple of passing doomers have poked their heads in!” — yeah, please throw them out!
I’m a regular lurker on your enjoyable site, holic, just haven’t posted before.
“I know it shows a personality deficiency and a distinct lack of class but I must admit that when John Terry hit the post last night I laughed my cobblers off.Petty but there you are.”
You and a thousand other gooners!! Loved it when Cronaldo crybaby missed and when Iron Man Terry missed. Don’t you love all this media handwringing about poor JT, how in the world will he get over it, and Cheslea’s now offered him counseling! Didn’t Anelka fail in his penalty too? Guess those Frenchmen don’t need counseling. And who cares about the feelings of those foreigners anyway?
Anyone who knows the story of what Arsene went thru at Monaco recognizes Bernes’ name. Tho I like Nasri, I’d be leery of having a player join us whose agent is a convicted match-fixer, and has in the past played manipulative little games like this with those who denounced him (like Houllier). If he does join us, we may have to deal with persistent contract instability due to Bernes’ gamesmanship. If you know what Wenger went thru and his deep sense of rage and grievance (it’s the reason he not only left France, but Europe for Japan), it’s remarkable that he’s even willing to approach a player represented by Bernes. Which gives you an idea of just how much he wants Nasri.
Hi Goonerholic,
Aint posted on here for a while, sorry mate.
I’ve a feeling that the Nasri and Ben Arfa rumours are a smoke screen for something else……But I dont know what yet!!!
Ben,
You are a penis.
Nasri is a typical Wenger signing, though a touch expensive for my liking. Sure he will provide more of an end product than Bread Boy but he’ll take a while to settle and there’ll be plenty of teams ready to rough him up a little. Coming from Marseilles he should be a tough little so and so but how long will it take? Probably a season till we see the best of him, and how good is his best?
Got to be honest folks, I’m more excited by the prospect of Vela – he’s served his apprenticeship in a Spanish relegation battle and what I’ve seen could be a surprise package this coming season.
When a top centre half, centre mid and keeper arrive I’ll start to think that we really can challenge again next season. After all, the dont win anything with kids(very often)
Oh, and one other thing – cant get the feeling out of my mind that Nasri could be Reyes Part 2. We all know how that turned out, which led to The Beast – and the less said about that the better!
Being a pessimist I reckon that we aren´t going to get Nasri now. The transfer has been put off time after time and it seems fairly obvious that either he, his agent or his club are just waiting for him to put on a big show in the forthcoming championship for lots of other bigger bid to come flooding in. Arsène won´t raise his offer, so ….no Nasri.
Have seen a rumour that Arsenal want Ribery, but Bayern (naturally) have no intention of selling him. Why on earth didn´t Arsenal buy him last year instead of letting him go to Bayern? He´s an excellent player.
if nasri wants to piss about he can fuck off and we can get someone else.
Nasri would be a great buy if hleb departs (as expected), he would be the perfect acquisition instead. He looks very much like an arsenal player already. I still think if mr. wenger wants him he will get him.
Though i must confess i am a little disheartened that we have not yet seen any of the transfers we were promised within three weeks of the season ending? What happened?
Carlos Vela looks a great addition, and now we allegedly have won over aaron ramsey but still are these moves more for the future than the right now?
And to TOP all that off The Italians claim Adebayor has basically signed for milan already? Please Arsene listen to Cesc and go get his mate Villa as a replacement, then at least we may be able to hold on to Cesc for longer than another year!
