Theo Finishes In Style

Thank you Match of the Day. The only sight I have had of the final encounter of this season at the Stadium of Light is courtesy of the dear old Beeb.
I was forewarned by a very fair match report on Arsenal.com from which it was clear that Sunderland had contributed their fair share to the afternoon’s entertainment.
The highlight was clearly a very well taken goal by Theo Walcott from an astute throughball from Gilberto. I wonder if that was the Brazilian’s final meaningful contribution in an Arsenal shirt?
The other talking point was the Arsenal bench, which looked very much like half of next season’s Carling Cup side. Mark Randall came on and only an incorrect offside flag deprived him of a second goal for the visitors. Just the latest in a long line of officials’ cock-ups this season.
Anyway, eighty three points were secured, and if you had been offered that at the start of the season you might have been tempted to take it. Doom-mongers would do well to consider that only four points separated the top three sides at the end of the day.
Talking of the other two it was probably right that Manchester United emerged from this afternoon’s fixtures with another title. Let’s be honest, they played much better football than Chelsea for most of the season.
I endured their contest from a hospital bedside with the sound turned down. One thing is clear. I remember not that long ago when we used to boast that English goalkeepers and referees were the best in the world, and not without reason.
Things have turned full circle. Our ‘number one’ cannot get a game in N17, and his ineptitude has been matched only by the men in the middle this season. There should be an enquiry into Steve Bennett’s performance this afternoon just so the FA can confirm that he is just hugely incompetent. I really hope it was incompetence, because the alternative would be hard to stomach.
One final message for Martin Taylor and Alex Mcleish. He who laughs last roars his bollocks off.

Thank you for the final shot at that shit McLeish and and his pit bull Taylor.
Looking back, it’s very easy to trace a line and see that our season faltered just a bit too long in the immediate aftermath of that crushing assault on Eduardo.
The team clearly was in shock. Then a wrongly given penalty — God, when do they EVER get it right? — at the death cost us two points on the same afternoon.
It took a long, long time to recover from that day at Birmingham, and frankly, the season-long loss of Eduardo probably cost us the titlel with RVP out so long.
I rarely root with a negative interest because I love the game, but I’ll freely admit I wanted Brum, Taylor and McLeish OUT of the Prem and back into the Thug Division where they belong.
They lied about intent. They lied about a visit to the hospital. McLeish lied about everything involved with the incident.
They got what they deserved.
Please help me understand why the pitch at Wigan looked so perfect during the game with United? Why is it that all teams are not allowed to play on the same old sh*t pitch? If Arsenal had that pitch during their encounter we would have destroyed them.
This is just truly unfair.
It’s called Karma Scotland Steve. And agreed, I hate barracking against teams but I can’t accept what happened at St. Andrews that day and am delighted they’ve gone down. We hopefully have severed our ties with Birmingham as far as the loaning of players goes and I really would love to see them drop another division in the long run.
Let’s not forget that this is how their club has repaid us for all we’ve done for them, not so much the reckless challenge which can happen anywhere at at any time, but all the bullshite their club spewed about the incident in the following days and weeks. Enjoy the championship Alex, it’s much more glamorous than Rangers or Scotland eh you silly twat.
Must say I agree with all the posts about Brum. I did not dislike them before but after the crap they spouted over the Eduardo incident I wonder if they needed to be so untruthful, after all the English press helped “poor Martin Taylor”. As White Ox says it’s called Karma baby.
Isn’t it sad to see the referees, (and assistants) keeping up their poor performances right until the last day of the season.
Just think some of those people can officiate in the Euros and World Cups. It makes me shudder to see how incompetent thay have become.
“One final message for Martin Taylor and Alex Mcleish. He who laughs last roars his bollocks off.”
Couldn’t agree more – they got exactly what they deserved.
As for the officiating, I’ve been wondering for a long time…
i actually did laugh my bollocks off when i’d heard they’d gone down, anyone got a spare pair??
well done rio, always willing to bend the rules ; )
i hope we never see birmingham in the premiership again, hope we get them in the carling cup though and spank them with the kids though, cnuts.
Wonder if is it just coincidence that Steve Bennett who is so sympathetic to the Man Utd cause refrees all their important matches. It sure does look like there is something more than what meets the eye and I do hope the FA seriously look if anything has been going on in the background.
The Juventus story is still fresh in one’s memory. It is all interesting when you consider that Utd are 700+ million in debt and they have to win trophies at all cost.
The non sending off of Paul Scholes was very strange. This is a ref who sent of a Wycombe player in a FA cup quarter final for showing a T-shirt with a picture of his seriously ill son on it after scoring.
He has the mentality of a concentration camp guard but not apparently when it comes to Man Utd.
The next time the FA go on about players being role models to young people they should take a look at Rooney`s continual swearing at officials. The ref`s do nothing. The press ignore it.
United deserved to win the league. They were the best team. They dont really need any help from ref`s or the FA but maybe Fergie just likes to be sure.

Belt and braces gonko, just to be on the safe side!
Bribery and corruption has been proven in Italy and France, with the money swilling around the premiership, who knows? At the very least unless they never read newspapers or listen to pundits they are influenced by the prevailing ‘cultural norms’, which can influence their decision making in one direction rather than another.
Hooray for a new ‘holic blog.
And may I take this opportunity again to nominate your 16.33 as arse of the day?
Great article and some great comments. I think we all echo the Brum thoughts. I am also glad that Fulham survived. That is always a decent away trip with no problems and easy enough to have a few beers with the locals both before and after. Good shout from Otariq re the Wigan pitch. That was exactly my thought when I saw it.
All in all I feel very positive. 83 points would have won the title 5 times out of the last 9 seasons. You need luck to win anything. We have had our share when we have been victorious. This year we had none, but still finsihed only 4 points away. If the linesman had done his job at Chelski then we would have finished 2nd. A few astute signings in the summer coupled with the extra year’s experience some of the youngsters now have, and I have good feelings already about next season. Plus I have taken nearly 100 quid from Spuds fans that I know who for some reason thought they would finish above us???? Their manager is not called One Day for nothing????? Happy Days.
Im interested Gooner … who will you want to win in the CL league.
Obviously I want MU.. Only so we can live in the delusion of grandeur as the on london team with a trophy..
Yikes thats really scarey..

Don’t ask me if I would rather lose my right leg or my left leg…
Hello everyone
Oh, KT.
Still no automagically refreshed arses for you? It’s a little bit quiet around here, I’m afraid. Mind the tumbleweed.
Could you lobby for an old-style arse posting button on the anonymarses, ‘holic?. The new one prevents not only multiposting but also me posting.
I am very lonely.
🙁
…and you are being missed. Spotted all over the place too!
Ah, ist that where KTbird hangs out now during the day?
