Two Wings And A Prayer
May 16th, 2008 by 'holic
Hello again all. Let’s start with some real news about something that really happened. I didn’t see any of the England U-21 performance in Wales so I am grateful to the Telegraph, among others, for their match report which raves about Theo Walcott’s goalscoring contribution.
The improvement in Theo over the second half of the season was there for all to see. Let’s hope that he will be given the chance to improve the balance of the side next season, with a few goals and assists thrown in to boot.
Another ‘winger-who-will-be-a-central-striker’ is Carlos Vela. Arsenal.com report that we are applying for a work permit for the Mexican who has spent a couple of years honing his skills in Spain.
I have seen him a few times this season and we should be wary of heaping too much expectation on his young shoulders. That having been aid the prospect of us playing two fast, skillful, goalscoring wingers on occasion next season is a mouthwatering one. Certainly it will give us an extra option or two if Vela does settle into the hustle and bustle of the Premiership. My hands are clasped together as I appeal to a higher authority.
The ‘holic pound this week is …oh! No football. Wait though, the Arsenal retirement home are playing a team from another country in some cup competition. Much though I would like to see Lassana Diarra humiliated, I really would be chuffed to bits if Tony Adams, Lauren, Sol Campbell, and Kanuuuuuuu were to pick up one last major honour. So the pound is going on Portsmouth, 3-0 I think.
Have a good weekend all, whatever you have in store.

Diarra is a fool and a big headed small brained one at that so it would be very pleasing indeed if he were to suffer the humiliation you mention above. Bring it on! I hope he has to eat his bitter words.
Campbell let us down in more ways that one – walking out at half time against West Ham when we were losing because of his awful defending that day, then telling Arsene he wanted to go abroad in an unprecedented manipulation of the great man’s respect for him, swiftly followed by signing for ‘good old boy’ ‘Arry … pathetic! I have no sympathy for him at all. Mincer.
Kanu – he’s been a long time gone but his goals will never be forgotton, especially the ones against Chelsea. Genius.
Lauren – absolutely brilliant and should still be at the club as cover for Sagna.
Adams – the Daddy! Hopefully we can bring him in to sort out our defense.
I’ll be supporting Cardiff on the day, it’s a no brainer.
First drink?
Have a positive weekend, ‘holic. 😉
Well second drink, fair enough.
Ollie – it was very close but I got ’em in just in time 😉
I read reports ( i did not see last nights game) that walcotts goal was a lucky deflection. I say you have to buy the ticket to win the lottery. Hleb would never have scored such a goal, but Lampard would. If walcott is having a go then we are blessed.
Got 33/1 at the bookies on Pompey H/T and Cardiff F/T.
C’mon you blues/ C’mon you bluebirds
Good odds those might throw a fiver on it myself. ‘holic what is the craic? Good website here. I was indifferent to who should win the cup but then i thought to myself fuck it diarra is a little bitch and to see him cry like a little bitch would give me great pleasure.
Fair play to you, El Tommo.
I would normally support Portsmouth on that one.
BUT…. Diarra only will make me cheer for Cardiff.
That’s how sad I am 😉 (Well, he’s a cunt so fuck him!)
Got to go for Portsmouth to win the cup.
Tony Adams was a giant.A one club player whose like we will probably never see again.
Lauren was a warrior .I dont recall Ronaldo doing to many stepovers when Lauren was marking him.
Kanu`s hat trick at Chelsea will long live in the memory. The last goal was the equivalent of a football orgasm.(Steady.)
Compared to these Campbell was a mercenary who never seemed to connect properly to the club or the fans.
Diarra was a midget who is really not worth wasting time on.
`holic you seem to be getting a bit of stick on the Arsecast today but
worry not .These young guys know nothing.Unless you have seen Ritchie Powling play can you really consider yourself a gunner.
Hey,
I’m cheering for Cardiff tomorrow….
Have a great weekend Mr Holic…
gonko, I haven’t listened to the arsecast yet, but I suspect you may be getting the wrong idea about it. 🙂
Ollie I realise the content about `holic on the Arsecast was done in an affectionate way.Indeed I suspect the Austrailian may have been `holic himself as it was the worst Aussie accent I have ever heard.
Not quite as bad as Bloggers irish one.
Have you heard his Spanish?
😉
I have now heard the piece. Top work, Bruce!
