Arsenal have had the last laugh against Spurs. In the build-up to he match Harry Redknap attempted to rouse the Arsenal fans against our manager. Claiming that fans do not want to see kid. Well, who are the kids now? After losing by such a wide margin, he must be wishing that he kept his mouth shut.
This just in: The Metropolitan Police has announced that the fire drill that took place at White Hart Lane earlier this evening went ahead without any complications. The stadium emptied in just a few minutes, save for one section which was not taking part in the drill.
Any Arsenal fans on Virgin Mobile? I’m worried the network is fucked. Back in the spring when they beat us for the first time this century my phone was twitching like a fucking Redknapp. For some reason it seems to have stopped receiving any calls or texts in the last couple of hours. Help?
Holic. I think it is a national network problem. I am with 3. Had all kinds of shite from spuddies. Now? Not a sausage.
Shame really as Harry was top drawer tonight. Listen to twitch boy on Sky. How envoius is he????? Look at his face, you can see it etched into every twitch.
Just wish I could call people and tell them. May get the police to call round to their addresses and make some welfare checks. Just in case they have some stale Battenburg lodged in their throats.

Win to turn our season just when we could have been down in the dumps. Come on Arsenal!!
For once their 2nd string took on our 2nd string, for a real comparison of squad strength, and look at the result. Played off the park by an Arsenal eleven that looked like it had played together every week for 5 years – not for the first time ever.
When will Redknapp learn to keep his ignorant gob shut ?
“We can finish above Arsenal – we can win the league – Wenger’s kids won’t be as successful as my group at West Ham, or Man Utd’s group of Beckham, Scholes etc – fans won’t tolerate not winning silverware ”
Stupid twat. Shut up.
Spuds fans were obviously rehearsing their annual evacuation of The Emirates twenty minutes before the end.
The first phase of ground improvements at White Hart Lane has just been announced for next summer – they’re turning all the seats round to face the other way.
@ Arthur happy hangover for the morning!!! loved ur posts. Do u play FIFA on Xboxlive if so I’m Nez31 unfortunately I play like the Spuds shit 1st half have a go in 2nd but usually end up losing!!!!
I think the real winners here are the socks. Splendid look. Can we please see those red stockings every week, instead of the silly white ones that are part of the ‘official’ kit?
A celebratory pint or three is in order Stateside, methinks. Cheers, all.
Nothing gives me more pleasure! Would rather beat d wankers 20 times than shag megan fox! Shame I missed both penalties while having a fag and missed arshavins while taking a leak but oh well….. Common the arsenal!
Thoroughly enjoyable and Young Jack and Kos were exceptional. I just hope that Gibbs has not suffered another metatarsal injury.
Fabianski still does not inspire any confidence, which is a worry, but at least Schwarzer wasn’t signed. Did you see his flap ffrom Delap’s throw-in last night?
Only a flag raised by the member of the Pakistan cricket squad for a mysterious offside prevented Gibbs from extending the visitors advantage as the half drew to a close
Top Blogging gold that Holic,
Well what to add that hasnt been said not alot – the boys done the business on the park and strangely by all accounts there was not a Pork Sausage to be seen on the High Road after, Was it the manner of the defeat or just the fact there were more than just shirters on parade last night meaning the bully boys couldnt have their fun.
Thats why you have to beat the Heebs tho – the feeling you get by putting one over them C##ts cannot be replicated,

I mirror your sentiment re; getting excited at this stage and I hope I did not litter your page too much yesterday, with my min by min, as I got in to the rhythm of our teams stand out performance!
To those who are under the bitter illusion (around 10 days ago to be exact) that I am just a sad alky who sits at his computer regurgitating what pundits say on TV and have never kicked a football in my life (I grew up in England, why wouldn’t I have? Tut!), I’ll peel myself away from my laptop this Saturday to get down to the match, while sitting quietly in my seat in the West stand sipping on spring water!
Anyway back to what is really important – The Arsenal!
Holic, I noticed the way Gibbs nullified Lennonβs limited trickery with his signature back turn! I also felt that Denilson was at his very best last night!
That inconsistent linesman for some reason flagged Gibbs late and straight after Palicios raised his hand! It reminded me of when Dowd blew his whistle against a challenge by Song v Sunderland which he did not himself see at the time and then went on to issue a yellow card!
Lansbury stated his case for a start this Saturday, while Jack and Kieran still prove why the national squad may need to adjust more to suit our players rather than the other way around!
Anyway I’ll continue floating through the day before gliding to my suburban house to join my Lady Arsenal and Junior Gunner!
WoodfordGooner: Song was suspended last night so he’ll be back for Saturday. Any suspension in any domestic competition will be served starting with the next domestic match regardless of the competition. Well, unless you appeal in which case you can have the suspension postponed pending the appeal hearing but you’ll still be suspended in the next domestic game when the suspension kicks in.

Where have we heard that before after some bone headed Stoke player has behaved like an absolute thug on the field? What sort of excuse is over-enthusiasm, for fuck’s sake?
Beast – the irony is that had the same type of comment (over enthusiasm blah blah) been attributed to Mark Hughes, nobody here would have been surprised.
Hughes is hardly a paragon of virtue – he was a dirty bastard as a player and is of the same mindset as Pulis and Walrus-face.
Didn’t you know that it is only Arsene and his fancy dans that can’t tolerate this English enthusiasm?
I suppose another way of looking at this is that if Hughes can be educated then maybe everyone else can? Or am I just in a generally good mood due to events of the last 24 hours? π
I didn’t see the tackle and I probably don’t want to now. More and more careless challanges are going in every week in English football it has to be said, I don’t know what it will take for the FA to pull their fingers out their fat arses and start to monitor this situation. As long it’s not Terry, Lamplard, Rooney and Gerrard then hey it’s all good, it’s ok when it happens to the foreigners I get the feeling.
Players who attack other players like that should be punished simple but it will never happen we all know that. Too many brainless fucks in charge up there!
βAll I can say is that I hope the player is not too badly hurt. There is no malice in his challenge β it is just over-enthusiasm.β
You thought of Angela Lansbury too, ‘Holic? After that goal, I said, “Spurs let an 85-year-old woman from the East End score on them? Pathetic!”
I’m not gonna knock Angela, she was my grandmother’s favorite actress. Then again, I recently traced Grandma’s family to a small village outside Barnsley. Here, I thought I was descended from urbane Londoners, possibly even to Islington. Turns out, we come from Dirty Northern Bastards!
I’m sure she never watched a soccer game in her life, not even on TV: Her side of the family was in the U.S. for well over a century, and she was nuts about baseball first and our football second. But I think she would have liked this feisty young Arsenal team, and I know she would have considered Spurs fans to be classless boors.
Evening, Holics! Wonderful feeling to wake up with all right in the world (‘cept for the Fabianski over Szcheny dilemna)- I’m happy Gibbs is not so bad.
Then the hilarious comment bits:
“Im losing faith in Arry. We need to spank west sham without him going on about what a great club they are to restore any kind of respect. Not been this angry for a while. ”
“Fucking bullshit. Disgrace. Don’t care about playing the kids or any of this bullshit.”
“What was with the mass exodus?! Where’s the support through thick and thin? Thought that was a little disgraceful on our part.”
“Personally I don’t feel guilty about leaving when the score hit 1-4 and I was getting bored of dodging coins. ”
“What a bunch of suckers! What a bunch of idiots! What a shit of tactics! Players without personality, intelligence and will to win. A bunch of softies as well.”
“I wish we had been knocked out by someone other than the Arse”
“Can someone tell me when its safe to lurk in the tottenham forums again?”
“We really showed ’em, didn’t VDV? You said before the match that we were the bigger club, like Keane before you, and Harry before him. We really proved you right, didn’t w….oh yes.”
“They wanted it more. Which in its self is quite funny, if you want to laugh at anything. Not that anyone wants to be laughing.”
“I don’t care what anyone says, a loss is a f-ing loss. We lost 4-1 to our fiercest rivals AT HOME.”
“Look lets not all be cutting our wrists.”
“That Jack Wilshere really is something special, did you see that “Xavi”-esque pass that put Gibbs through one-on-one with the GK that the linesman flagged offside wrongly? Phew! Good thing the ref gave us that goal, Robbie was a yard offside. We dodged a bullet there. It could’ve been 5-0 at home.”
“We need to ask the Arsenal ex Captain Gallas to tell us why Arsenal all look skinny fall over so easy when tackled and run forever so they can keep passing for 90 mins”
“”We haven’t won the league in 50 years and that’s not about to change with or without VDV. Maybe he should’ve gone to the scum instead of us. They probably didn’t want him because 18 year old Wilshere is better. Come to think of it, Jack is better than Kranjcar, Modric and any other foreigner other than Cesc of course. Its just a sad day”
What a showing from the Arsenal ! It was just like watching Brazil if Brazil could play that well.
Fantastic performance from the boys regardless of the envelopes passed to the match officials from Harry Redshite filled with ill gotten gains.
Spuds goal off side, Gibbs clear on goal and rounded the keeper and flagged off. You blind piece of shit.
Blatant push in the back on Lansbury ! No penalty ?
Wilshere kicked all round the pitch and after 35 minute the ref had no choice but to show a yellow card as the signs of cheating were getting a bit to obvious.
Sadly Harry run out of money for extra time so the ref put his glasses on and had to give the sure fire penalties this time. Note for Harry remember to bring more money.
I really don’t know how much longer I can stomach this nonsensical discussion of “malice.” The rules exist to protect players, not to punish them ex post. A dangerous tackle is dangerous regardless of whether the offender was stupid, clumsy or malicious. In every civilized nation we have laws that acknowledge that negligence should be punished when it causes harm to another person because we need to deter careless behavior, and that logic carries over to the football pitch where one innocent but clumsy tackle can ruin your fellow professional’s career.
It seems to me that at the moment, too many people treat malice exactly opposite of how they should. Malice shouldn’t be considered a required element of the basic offense, but rather in the rare instances where it is present it should be seen as an aggravating factor. Disciplinary measures should be heavier when there is malice, but they should not be non-existent when there is not. Malice is a separate offense in and of itself. If you try to injure someone but fail, you should be disciplined. If you do not try to injure someone but negligently do (as opposed to purely “unfortunate” injuries, like those constantly plaguing RVP), you should be punished regardless of any sort of malice. The only “intent” we should be concerned with is the intent to make a tackle that was objectively careless, not intent to injure.
“That kind of player” isn’t someone who actively tries to cause injury, he’s someone whose carelessness actually DOES cause injury. Ryan Shawcross and Paul Robinson are “that kind of player.” I doubt anyone would deny that Arsenal has in the past fielded its share of “that kind of player,” but that’s not the issue, despite what Robbie Savage would have us think. Some injuries truly are just unfortunate cosmic accidents, but most are not. Most are down to human error, and that error should be deterred with negative reinforcement. We demand that our players give everything they have on the pitch, and playing fast, committed football inevitably leaves them vulnerable. To turn around and tell them that “Oh, by the way, we’re going to do nothing to protect you from the negligence of others” is indefensible.
(Obviously, I’m aware I’m preaching to the choir here. I just needed a rant.)
Chelsea just got dumped out of the cup by Newcastle. Chelsea played with ten players the last half-hour after both Salomon Kalou and Yossi Benayoun had been injured. It ended 4-3 to Newcastle, Chelsea came back from 3-1 down and equalized in the 85th minute and then Ameobi scored the winner in the 90th minute.
Watched only the second half but Chelski-Newcastle was a cracking game, Ameobi was on fire. Chelski slips 4 at home!
I’m really really glad Newcastle is back in the PL. Say what you want but they don’t compromise on style, it was shame they even Allardyce coach them (to their credit they didn’t take long to give him the boot).
Cherry on the cake, Citeh have been ejected by WBA and Liverpool have another 30 minutes to suffer against Northampton.
Great night again!

One thing the scunts have for them, a good sense of humor:
“I’m going to commit suicide. GOoOoOD ByE CrUeL WorLD ”
“hogson in great sacking form”
“…by a fucking market town where you can throw a stone from one side of town to the other ”
My favorite one:
“Worst defeat of the decade? Certainly right up there with the 6-3 drubbing from Arsenal. ”
Cannot, however, under any circumstances take the “Fabianski look like Seaman” bit.
Sorry to nit pick after such a great night yesterday, but Fabianski is simply and obviously not good enough.
The attempt to save the Keane shot was pathetic.
What if, after Jack Wilshere’s amazing performance, that bungle had cost us the game ?
I know it didn’t, and I’m sorry to find a negative after such a great collective effort, but Fabianski is hopeless and we should just get rid, no matter the loss incurred.
The team looks like it really wants to win something – for example, the fantastic block by Koscielny in the second half – the fans certainly do. Even AW is now taking this competition seriously. This keeper cannot be allowed another chance to cost us the opportunity.
Have just woken up after dropping off early in front of the box – clearly yesterday’s dream result has led to some other dreams coming true tonight – chelski, citeh and the pool all out
btw Rosicky was dreaming as well and didnt know that AW was relaxing (?) in the stands – see club site
May all dreams come true @58 Dadric but there may be 2 other reasons equally unforgivable – frustration at being totally undone by the other side which should be heavily penalised anyway, and also a rush of adrenaline leading to a belief that a tackle is possible when clearly it is not (witness Song in a minor way the other day)- can this be trained out – I suspect not
Adrenaline rush seems to happen in attack as well such as AA has been showing too often of late (OK and Bentley yesterday)
I hope that I can calm down again from my own Adrenaline rush – perhaps a little cognac home brew will do
Matt@67: I was thinkning along the same lines. I only saw the second half of the game, but Turnbull was all over the place and if it hadn’t been for some awful finishing from the Magpies they would have been at least 5-1 up with about 20 minutes to play. And while getting back to 3-3 from 3-1 down was some achievment, let’s not forget that Newcastle did not play anywhere near their best team either.
Lars, the draw is on Saturday on Man Utd news (sorry Sky Sports).
Trev@ 71, I agree on Fabianksi (predictably some would say). It’s obvious however AW still has faith in him, which is a worry in the bigger scheme of things.
lets hope we draw ManU in the next round and just finish off the Carling Cup!
there are greater chances of beating them in the next round then in the Final
This season has been so greatly high on the Spirits, they have been flying High ..
Just imagine what Arsenal fans would be going through when we beat Chelsea on the 3rd October, i cannot be asking for a better Birthday present from my team!
Im just so optimistic about this season, ESPN pundit Shebby Singh not only believes Arsenal will clinch the title this season, but of all the other English teams, he firmly believes Arsenal have the best squad to be at the Wembley Champions League Final ..
The depth in the squad is so great, last season these were the same guys playing the in the Carling Cup but this season all of them look on an entirely different planet.
Wilshere is the real deal, Rosicky is like a new signing!
TV5, Kos and Squ loook rock Solid with Song infront of them , even Almunia looks better than what he looked like last Season
You can clearly see the hunger of winning something finally, if we remain in the hunt for the League Glory, i wont be surprised if the Gaffer goes for some necessary tweakings in the Winter Transfer Window.
Lets hope for the best all of us and keep praying!
Our time has come, Come on YOU GUNNERS!!!
P.s: Holic, i have been a long time reader of your blog and trust me theres nothing better to do on cyberspace then being here and going through the wonderful blog and some great comments!
Keep up the good work guys, Proud!
Some interesting perspectives as ever. Great night of football of rus Gooners on Tuesday. I can add no more t the eulogising of this great team.
Although, re Fabianksi, I’m going to turn this round if you will allow.
Wenger is no mug. It goes without saying…..he is an extremely wise, talented, experienced, seasoned, intelligent, insightful manager. He can spot talent way way before anyone else. I argue he is one of the top 3 managers in the WORLD.
He has proven fans/the footballing ‘experts’ wrong over and over again in discovering players that have arrived, under great scrutiny at Highbury/Ashburton Grove.
So what of Fabianski? Where is Wenger going ‘wrong’ (assuming he is)? Where is Wenger’s blind spot? What is Wenger seeing that we, the fans, collectively cannot see? Or, what is he missing that we the fans can see?

Our treatment room staff must make a fortune in overtime. π
Great performance by the young ones last night;-) Quick question, does anyone know if Song’s one match ban applies to all domestic competition?
zicoinexile –
Wenger confirmed it yesterday in his post-match reaction. It appears we are awaiting the scan results in order to assess the full extent.

The CC counted towards Songs ban. AW couldn’t have had a ban and not Song, obviously.
Blogs just reported on Twitter that Gibbs has bruising rather than a break. Wait for official site though!
TV5 struggling with Achilles (and probably Paris) so will be out of WBA.

Yes Arthur I agree entirely – Clichy should be a worried man.
Competition for places is what brings the best out in the team though, so it’s all good.
Think I’ll have a cider barman (and one for Arthur).
If fit, I would pick Gibbs every time from now on. Clichy is undoubtedly a good player, but he has this absent minded streak when defending which rears its ugly head several times a season. How can you even say that, unbelieveable!
In other good news, I think this will be a major plus for us!

Hope you don’t mind the link, Mr. Holic! I’ll have a Guinness, if you’re open early tonight.
Some good fun from some Spuds blog
First the image they used for their match report: http://www.dearmrlevy.com/storage/picard-facepalm.jpg
Its just a sad day”
π
I’m still loving it, been walking around with a smile and a spring in my step all day.
That’s funny stuff Matt mate, cheers for going behind enemy lines to scout that info.
Matt @ 54, great stuff lololol
@ Matt.
Excellent and funny stuff. Just get the feeling that there may have been a couple of Gooner imposters stirring things up for some of them!
Good lads.
Just watching some of the scores from today’s games coming in… the C Cup is really opening up.
If Arsene sticks with a similar team (ie not ALL kids) then it will get interesting..
Its good, dadric. Really well said, mate.
‘holic, how did the ‘holicdad enjoy the result?
Not sure bt8bbnn, he is still in orbit π
Dadric, you should wrap that up in a brown folder with a red ribbon and drop it in to the FA.
Someone needs to start putting some serious pressure on that organisation. Compliance unit my arse.
@Lars: didn’t you think Turnbull (Chelski second string GK) made Fabianski look like David Seaman? If that’s their B team they can start worrying.
@Catalan: Indeed there were a few jokers impersonating spuds in distress, can’t guarantee all the comments were from 100% spurs fans. Still fun!
Today pool’s director admitted they barely could service their debt and now the mighty Northampton are through!
Vultures will be circling closer over the club…
One thing the scunts have for them, a good sense of humor:
“I’m going to commit suicide. GOoOoOD ByE CrUeL WorLD ”
“hogson in great sacking form”
“…by a fucking market town where you can throw a stone from one side of town to the other ”
My favorite one:
“Worst defeat of the decade? Certainly right up there with the 6-3 drubbing from Arsenal. ”
π
Sticks and stones
May break my bones
But over-enthusiasm
Can really hurt me.
Matt – well played with the Spuds stuff.
I hope that I can calm down again from my own Adrenaline rush – perhaps a little cognac home brew will do
night all
Matt@67: I was thinkning along the same lines.
When is the draw for the next round, by the way?
Lars, the draw is on Saturday on Man Utd news (sorry Sky Sports).
Trev@ 71, I agree on Fabianksi (predictably some would say). It’s obvious however AW still has faith in him, which is a worry in the bigger scheme of things.
Good news on Cesc as well over on Arseblog.
lets hope we draw ManU in the next round and just finish off the Carling Cup!
there are greater chances of beating them in the next round then in the Final
Keep up the good work guys, Proud!
zico, thanks for that!
What has this Arsenal team showed that seemed to be lacking a bit last season ?
1. Hunger
2. Desire
3. Belief
You have the likes of Nasri and Theo who are on a mission to prove their respective national managers what they are capable of.
You have Wilshere and Lansbury out to make a real name for them self in the first team for Arsenal and both more than capable of doing so.
The new boys all want to prove that they are capable at playing at the very top level which is in the PL at Arsenal.
Put these things together and the future looks bright and RED and White ( apart from when we play away )
If there is a small cloud on the horizon its name is Fabianksi. I think the young Polish should step aside for the younger Polish keeper to have ago.
I will have a hot toddie barkeep
Large glass of Chianti please barman π
