Time To Stop Feeling Sorry For Ourselves
Mar 18th, 2011 by 'holic
“We just want to keep our belief high, our togetherness high, and give our best shot until the end of the season”
Fine words boss, but the evidence of recent weeks suggests that belief is not high. Yes, key players are missing. Yes, decisions have been going against us. There is a feeling though that our squad players are lacking in confidence, and therefore the aforementioned belief.
The best shot that we need to give starts at the Hawthorns. It is a stadium that does not spark the same sense of awe as the Camp Nou or Old Trafford. West Brom have not made a fortress of the place. They have already lost four at home this season, and have only beaten Blackpool in their last six. The fact that they are a point above the relegation zone owes a great deal to the three points they picked up at our place with a very good performance in September.
The team news is not great. Basically we go into the game with the squad that lost at Old Trafford, minus the injured Diaby. As regulars know I would play Nasri in the attacking midfield role, but as we also know it is likely that Rosicky will get the job. Without Djourou, Song, and Fabregas, there is a perceived fragility in the spine of the side that needs to be put to one side. Ramsey may be considered as an alternative to Denilson, and it is time Squillaci and Koscielny made their partnership work. On paper they are an ideal combination of experience and youth. On the pitch they look as though they have been chucked into the Large Hadron Collider together.
For all of the doubts that surround the squad players, you also have to expect the big names to step it up a bit, and I’m sure they will. Sagna and Clichy can be a source of attack as well as locking down the flanks defensively. Wilshere remains one of the outstanding finds of this, or any other season. Arshavin has shown signs of getting back to where we expect him to be. Nasri has been our most consistent performer, and van Persie is, well, van Persie. Brilliant when fit, he possibly holds the key to what the remaining ten games have in store for us.
I will shamelessly steal from ATvO the example of the invincibles in 2004. In successive matches that great side lost an FA Cup semi-final, a Champions League quarter-final, and found themselves behind at home to Liverpool in the Premiership. What Thierry Henry did in the second-half of the last of that trilogy has gone down in Arsenal folklore as the performance that ensured the title would be won. Then, as now, supporters needed lifting.
It is time for Wilshere, Nasri, van Persie, and Arshavin to deliver something similar. West Brom, even away from home, are not Liverpool 2004. Their determination to stick by their footballing principles is admirable, but our quality should be made to pay. I know there has been much disappointment of late, but it is time this Arsenal side, even a weakened version, demonstrated a little backbone, and put these setbacks of recent weeks firmly in the past.
The ‘holic pound has to be wagered in the belief that we will keep pace with United, who host Bolton at the same time as we go hunting the points in the Black Country. In a week when history repeated itself a few times at Cheltenham, I am drawn to that fateful beating of the scousers in 2004. It ended 4-2 to the Arsenal that day, and I am going for a repeat tomorrow at 50/1. Wishful thinking? That depends if a very good side can bounce back.
Have a good one, ‘holics.

We are Arsenal. Let’s do it.
Win tomoz and we are well in the hunt lose or draw and the flak will really start to fly – Personally think it will be quite edgy but am hoping our superior skill will win the day I’m going for a tight 2-1 to the boys đ that aside does anyone know of a more inept PR department than Arsenals all that lolly and we get Comical Ali and his team laughable đ Beers on me had a decent Cheltenham with the Emerald Island raiding party,
Up Thd Arse,
@ Number 2: Your position in today’s drinks would suggest that the piece of shit is in fact you dear sir
I am unfazed. The season’s number one priority remains intact, and we still have a good squad despite injuries, and few can say that. Say it simple, say it clear – if we win the league this year, it will go down as a VERY GOOD year.
You might have run out of cups, but any feel-good capaccino’s behind that counter?
Holic
Couldn’t agree more.
Time for everyone at the Club to pull together, that includes us the Supporters.
We have one last chance for Silverware,so let’s not die wondering.
I cannot see Bolton getting anything against Utd,they have conceded 40 goals already this season and have only won 2 games away all season.
Under Coyle they seem to have foresaken the dull defensive strategy that Ally used, for a more attacking formation which whilst entertaining has meant serious deficiences at the other end.
West Brom also leak goals like they are going out of fashion, they have scored 22 at home and conceded 23.
But under Hodgson i cannot see them taking the same gung ho approach as his predecessor.
He will use the same format he had success with at Fulham, and tried but failed to implement at Liverpool.
A new manager always galvanises players and fans and they have only lost once since he was appointed.
I anticipate a difficult game with them fighting for every ball, defending as if their life depended on it,and harrassing us at every turn.
If we in turn show the same commitment to the cause, then i am confident we can come home with the 3 points.
Cheers
clive
Diaby injured again? How much would we save if we re-negotiated his contract on a “pay if you play” basis?
From what I have seen of Rosicky this season, I would have Ramsey ahead of him every time, even if he is coming back from an injury.
I expect a nervy 90 minutes tomorrow and a narrow scoreline – they may have shipped a lot of goals of late but we seem to have forgotten how to score – one goal in 270 minutes and that was scored by the opposition. So, 1 nil to the Arsenal, will do just fine. đ
(I’m on the happy train and bound for glory)
Great post to which there is little to add besides my admiration for the audacity of the bet;)
And another glass of sparkling water for Clive, on me. I’ll have a glass of Washington Merlot to partake.
Can’t wait for tomorrow, this is the part I love the most in the season. The final sprint with all its bumps.
UP THE ARSENAL!
@zico: it’s true our injury list is growing, still it doesn’t seem as bad as in previous seasons at this stage and it certainly wasn’t up to now.
And for once Indebted is looking more like us. Usually they end the season with a fully fit team but this time it looks like they’re on the receving end as well.
We musn’t heap unnecessary pressure on the team as we approach the final 10 of the season. We have no worries on that score in regard to away matches. The loyal, noisy band of travelling supporters will see to that.
The 4 remaining home games at the Emirates are a different matter. The groans and silent gasps of exasperation must be replaced by cheers of support for EVERY one of our players ALL the time. You cannot expect 100% effort and confidence from a player if his own crowd are on his back.
The final outcome of our season may well be in the hands of our supporters.
eleventh!!!
really hope Ramsey plays as Rosicky looks very average at present.
It is a huge game tomorrow one we will win
Problems should be addressed in the Summer but as they say in the Blues Bros
I say with give the Wenger Bros one last chance!! Be gone and don’t come back till you redeem yourselves
Apologies Skye, our friend in Yorkshire couldn’t stay đ
Clive, I was going to make a similar point about the supporters, but feel there has been enough falling out between different wings of the same church lately. Hence my attempt at humour in the week.
If we are the real deal we will get a result tomorrow. It could be a scrappy 1-0, or an intense 4-2 (please!), but a result we must get.
Loved the LHC line for all the physics geeks out there.
And as I always said, and reiterate along the same hymnsheet as ‘holic, Nasri has got to play in the hole sans RvP. Our best player, sans el Capitano, should be pulling the strings. ‘Nuff said.
make that, sans Cesc. Post Paddy’s day. And I’m just starting. I have to dilute myself for the Hawthorns …
Can someone tell me what Diaby actually gives this team? Plays then injured for weeks, plays then injured for weeks. When he does spend time on the pitch he is ponderous with no attacking threat or defensive capibilty.
I was at the West Brom game at home. I went expecting to see us score a barrow-load. But, just for a lark, the players switched shirts in the tunnel and Arsenal were actually playing in black and white with WBA wearing red. Or at least thatâs what it looked like that day. The black and white team knocked the ball around crisply, looked purposeful from the first few minutes and, if theyâd taken their chances and a penalty, could easily have gone in three up at the turn. The team wearing red seemed to think theyâd win if they just kept pottering.
My little black book records that Eboue had had a shocker that day. Manuel was at his Spanish waiting best and, just for fun, a Fawlty Towers moment saw him parry, quite beautifully, an easy shot from outside the box into the back left of his net. A âShould I Come Or Should I Go Nowâ chorus followed that and, wouldnât you know it, we were 0-3 in the blink of an eye.
We woke up with twenty minutes to go that day. Samir Nasri, the only Gunner who seemed to want a win, scored a nice brace and hit the bar. But it never felt like weâd win that one. Quite honestly, we didnât deserve to.
Now, Iâd like to think that the boss will have run the lads through a quick recap of the home game. We looked stale as an old kipper from the start, disinterested, lacking the will to win â the whole ragbag of Arsenal at their very worst. Attitude will be everything tomorrow. As you point out quite correctly, âHolic, itâs time for our big names to drive the team to victory – or perspire through the demands of 110% effort in the process.
Frankly, tomorrowâs game is one that Arsenal should win comfortably. BUT, thatâs exactly what I thought about the home game. Whoever takes the field tomorrow needs to reflect the contribution expected of a team with the possibility of winning the league held squarely in its own two hands. There shouldnât be a single doubt in my mindâŚ.but I hate to tell you, thereâs a little black cobweb blowing in the breeze that comes in through my left ear and goes out through my right!
The BtM crystal ball, on the other hand, is radiantly positive. Three â nil to the away team is clearly written therein. May it be so. Please.
Enjoy it âHolics. A pint of best with which to celebrate Her Nellienessâ birthday please, barman.
I think Nasri and Van Persie will stand up and be counted tomorrow. I predict both will be on the scoresheet. 3 – 1 in favour of The Gunners. Let’s all get behind the team as we can’t change the pass but can help to shape the future with our support. Up and Onwards Gunners!
Ice Cold Heineken please Barman!
“the past” – errr! lol!
I wonder how much of this problem is down to good old Arsene Wenger. Why the hell can’t Arsenal just go up there and rip into West Brom, pace, tackling, passing – aggressive. I get the feeling Wenger’s whole demeanour and team talk is be calm, dominate possession, pass the ball – wait for chances. Is he really motivating these players correctly? Give them some bloody freedom, it’s like they’re playing with the handbrake off.
His managerial style is a major issue for me, I just don’t think he gets the best out of the players. He’s too frightened and never takes risks. Why can’t we play 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1 for god sake? Give some support to the front man, get the wide men working deeper to protect the full backs.
It’s all so predictable, so dull, so tedious. Wenger players with 2 holding midfielders, yet there’s only one at the club (Song) and he’s too slow. Put the players in their best positions and you’ll get the best out of them.
I’d have got Lansbury off back from loan and gone with a midfield of Nasri, Wilshere, Lansbury, Eboue, Arshavin behind Van Persie.
Barman, if you will another pint for Her Nellieness, and a round all around for the faithful. Excellent post ‘holic and you are correct that belief will be the key. Game is not on my cable package so finding a stream will be the order of the day. Come on Arsenal!
Congrats to your better half’s BDay there Mr. BtM. I will salute with a real double of Glenfiddich. It’s not my favourite but that’s the best this bar in the backwater of Kanada has … alas.
Up the Arse!!!
Game is not on your cable package 8ball!?!? First, your lady mgmt won’t let you watch critical matches when they are on your cable package and now to find out that you live in the northern climes of MN that has a poorer cable package than Kanada??? My word. Barkeep, pass the substandard Glenfiddich.
In the same boat bt8bbnn. I will post links here, hopefully.
Happy birthday to the delightful her nellieness, BtM. I hope you both enjoy a weekend of feasting and frivolity to celebrate.
‘holic,
You, living in Jolly Ole, don’t have a cable package that shows The Arsenal tomorrow??? Move to Kanada mate. You love the BBC … you’ll find the CBC sings from the same hymnsheet.
My next drink is on Lars!!!
And Gooners fret not. Had we won our UCL group, we would only be playing Barça one round removed. Of course, had the ping pong balls have held course. And even so, it would have meant more $£⏠in the coffers of the board and Stingy Voyeur. Another round barkeep!!!
3pm Saturday kick-offs are sacrosanct over here TvN. No channel can carry league games at that time. Daft really, when lunchtime and teatime games are shown. Historical folly and ignorance.
I feel your pain ‘holic. And you are far too good a man and Gooner to miss a match. I’m across the pond and never, ever, ever, ever have to worry about not having The Arsenal on the tele. Is that backass or what???
Move to Kanada, not miss a Gunner game, but feel the wrath of Kanadian taxation. Lars would feel at home đ
And when anyone has time, can you explain why 15:00 is like some religious pilgrimage over there? It sounds pretty petty to me …
I’m a big time Gooner, like all of you here. Rally behind our team or not, you must be mad to think that if we can’t win despite the easiest of all routes or the biggest of margins, or having an advantage, or handed down to us because the other team lost this week, not once but many times, we can win the one trophy that all pursuits? If you are true Gooners, stand against this economical pursuit in favour of a trophy. Talking about money, you do know that Ar$enal will ask you to pay more next season? Gooners love to hope, but we do need to wake up at some point. My question is, will it be another year?
Nice post. I have fond memories of that Liverpool game. I had been at the chavs game when Bridge broke our hearts. Surely the Champs League was ours that season? At the Liverpool game I remember it being cold, even if it was Good Friday. Cold but I was still sat with the sun in my eyes. The game was really tired. The strains and stresses of the previous week’s efforts seemed to tell on all. That included the fans. The whole place was just lack lustre.
Now the game will always be remembered for a wonderful Henry treble. But for me the hero of the match was Freddie Ljungberg. The game quite frankly was just drifting. The scousers had plenty of possession. They passed the ball along the back with very little pressure. Then, all of a sudden something clicked with Freddie. It was if he just said, “fuck this for a lark, I aint having it.” He then just turned into a Tasmanian Devil.
For a brief period the liverpool back 4 decided to try and play their version of keep ball. My memory is that Freddie just set off. He chased all over the back four until the ball reached the Liverpool right back. By this time Freddie had caught up. I just remember him sliding in and winning the ball. The whole crowd went nuts. Freddie got up and went up. The whole tone of the game was changed in that moment and the rest is history. We ended that game 7 clear with 7 to play. If only?????
Not really sure what to expect at the Baggies on Saturday. I think it is really unpredictable and depends on what Arsenal team turns up. Diaby injured??? You don’t say? I would be lying if i said that Almunia in goal with Laurel and Hardy in front of him with no Song did not scare the pants off of me. But then who knows. Manuel played well in the 2 games he has played recently so who knows.
We need big players to be big players. My money is on the inspirational Wilshere being even more inspiring.
I think it was BTM above that said this is a game we should win comfortably. Apologies if I am wrong but I do tend to agree. Saturday is a telling day. This could be the day when we find out what character this side really has.
Onwards and upwards.
Keep the faith.
Saturday is the day we find out if we are pretenders or contenders. If we don’t hold serve and ManU does, then, well, do I need to say another word?
Only Arsenal would contrive to cock up at West Brom tomorrow. The players will think, “oh it’s just West Brom,” and “United have extra games in the CL so they’ll be tired,” but we’ll fail to capitalise as usual. It’s what we do. Every season for five years and running.
My money’s on West Brom 2 – 0 Arsenal. I’m confident of making a fine return on the weak-mindedness of my team. Call me a saddo, but Arsenal’s players are sadder.
There will be no creativity without Cesc, and no defensive nous without Djourou / Vermaelen / Song.
And I love Freddie!!! I really do. Shout out to the Swedish out there!!! Lars, do you hear us!?!?
You wouldn’t be the Johnson that played for the ‘Cuse? Do us all a favour Wes and shove off …
As for the ‘Cuse, they are about to break the bottle on their NCAA yearly madness. Go ‘Cuse!!! And, we could use Wes in the Bball lineup.
Yes, that’s me, the very Wes Johnson who played for the ‘Cuse… ???
What the hell is a ‘Cuse?
Anyway, if I’m wrong, I’ll gladly eat my hat. In my opinion, this Arsenal team has about the right mentality to finish 3rd this season and no higher.
I’ve seen nothing in the last few weeks to suggest otherwise. No Cesc = no creativity. No Song = midfield made of jello. No Djourou / Vermaelen = Squillaci error.
I’m not wrong.
Obviously we need a win at WBA to save our season.
While a goalfest would be nice, I almost hope we win having to fight like hell – avoiding any further injuries – and the odd goal margin will do just fine.
A fighting victory would probably do most to restore belief and give a bit of real extra confidence to the sqaud players who are certain to be called on again.
As the sheer weight of Diaby’s wallet has knackered his groin now, I personally would love to see Aaron Ramsey back in the side tomorrow. The lad has a bit of verve about him, and must be itching to reestablish himself in the side. His presence might also breathe some life back into Abou – assuming his groin knack is at all likely to heal this season.
He’s a strange one, Diaby. For about six games last season he looked absolutely brilliant. Sadly, the fight and determination he showed during that period – and not a little skill – seem to have evapourated again.
Please Arsenal, make it feel like we are still in a title race again.
We do REALLY want to win this title, don’t we ?
Wes, you should not be talking ill of your money maker. And get a global perspective or google if you must.
I hope AW will play 2 up front for this game,he said he would play for every competition and this is it.The formation he has played has not worked with the makeshift personal so i would love a traditional 4- 4- 2 and take it to them and if that happens i think we will take them appart 4-0 to the Arsenal,if AW plays his two DM he has been playing and one up front we will struggle against a Hodgson team that will park the bus and wait for setpeice or counter attack chances, only hope if the latter is the choice we do sneek a result. Cmon ARSENAL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
TvN, In the States the match is on the Fox Soccer Plus, and I forget how much extra that channel costs but it is considerably over my budget. Fox puts many more games on Fox Soccer Channel and I see most Arsenal games on it for very good value. I believe there is also Fox Soccer Canada which is unavailable here but it may be a combination of the above two channels, judging by your contentment level.
Thank God there’s a game in the morning.
I couldn’t take another day of waiting.
I feel as if I have to actually play in the game but I don’t.
Thank God for that too a big,big point in our favor.
I hope Crazy Jen’s presence puts some steel in Sebastion Squilacci.
He makes me very Fucking nervous. Maybe nerveser is what I mean.
Come on you Gunners!!!!!
Come on now Wes Johnson,
We know you really live in the West Midlands.
We’re the dark horse, maybe a bit too fucking dark and a wee jaded too but no matter.
Arsenal#1 No, you didn’t hear it here first but… maybe it won’t be the last time either.
Oh, yeah. your wrong…again.
I am so fucking nervous ahead of this game.
I’m not gonna be able to watch the game live here in the U.S but usually I don’t get updated and watch it “as live” when I get back home.
Tomorrow? No chance. I’ll have to get updates, I’m THAT nervous, I won’t be able to survive 10 hours without knowing the score.
So scared….I don’t know why, I just have a weird feeling in my stomach…
The injuries we have are good news in disguise…I mean Theo, Fab4 and the others key players wont play for their counties next week, giving them more time to recover…Todays squad is not as bad as we still have RVP10, Nasri, Arshaving and co…Up Guns
Ah holic, I understand. However I should then apologise to our current number 2 đ
I’m looking forward to a response from this team tomorrow much in the same way as the class of old.
Come on you Gooners!
BT@17: I was there too that day and I can’t even remember Eboue playing. I think I may have suppressed most of my memories of the game. But I do remember Sagna having a real shocker, by far and away his worst game ever for the club. And that Almunia howler… no, best not to think about it anymore.
James@20: actually, we have switched to 4-4-2/4-4-1-1 a few times this season. Everton at home and last Saturday v ManU are two examples of games where we altered the formation during the game.
TVN@34: Yes, I hear you!
—
Please Arsene, give Ramsey a start today. Play Jack-Aaron-Denilson with Nasri and Arshavin on either side of van Persie. And please, each and every Arsenal player: just go out there and make sure you give it all you’ve got.
Enough sulking. Leave the bad thoughts aside for the time being. It’s time to support the boys. Let’s roll Gunners.
I’m going for the old 3-1 to the Arsenal (the bread and butter of Arsenal-betting). I don’t think it will be that tight, due to us getting the early goal, and then another one after about fifteen minutes more. Just a hunch.
Lars!
I’ll be bringing the missus and some other Arsenal fans to the boozer as well. See you in a little while!
Could be bad news. Just tried to fire the LWC’s game on sopcast, and getting message ‘Cannot access sopcast service’.
Anybody got it working?
I’m on Virgin Broadband as well ‘Holic and I can’t access it, same error message
‘Holic
Not sure you need to be terrified. First of all, Sopcast might well just be trying to protect you from watching Spurs. Even if, as I type, you just missed Bale being clobbered.
But mostly I think it’s just Sopcast acting up. I’ve gotten that message several times, and mostly it’s something with the local program (ie Service) that is running on the computer. Especially Windows Vista users (if there are any left!) have that problem. Most of the time a restart of the computer solves it. Try that if you haven’t already. But it shouldn’t be your provider!
@Snir,
Kind sir, em, snir,
There are a lot of links for our match with the baggies.
I will only name: nkora.net,livescorehunter,atdhenet.tv and veetle.
with the exeption of the veetle link which has it’s own player, all the others require only flash 9 or higher.
Para Divertarse,dude.
GO GUNNERS!
From the beeb;
1416: TEAM NEWS SNAP
Aaron Ramsey starts for Arsenal at West Brom.
Good luck with the stream hunting, always thought it was ludicrous that 3pm ko’s were not allowed to be aired back home, while we abroad have no problem seeing them.
I’ve fired the TV up in the bar and the beer’s are ready, enjoy the game lads.
Cheers.
COYRRR!!
Sopcast still not playing ball!
Come on you REDS!
If you go into the site Football Streaming Info, using Mozilla Firefox, they list all the streams available. You dont need Sopcast, plenty can be viewed straight to the browser, First Row and ATDHE are usually really good.
Back in the fray.
Cheers, ‘holic.
Here’s to 3 points.
That was obvious..
I miss you Woj, I forgot what it’s like to be petrified of defensive set pieces when you’re in goal.
Great defending. Superb goalkeeping.
More of that please…
We need to really change tact in the 2nd half. I know its late in the season but can we please play a 4-4-2 for a match or two.
Denilson must work hard in training as he’s shocking during the match……again.
Come on Arsenal….three goal half please
Not a very good first half and I know it’s half time but I’m a tad worried to be honest with, same old mistakes.
Come on Arsenal!
on a brighter note Man Utd 0-0 at h/t
good shout Tim makes me feel a tad better!
COME ON ARSENAL!
In case anyone is bothered – our team are apparently playing football today – yawn yawn
And the winner of the Denilson Cup for worst passer on our team – (for the first half anyway) is
is
is
Gael Clichy
Generally we are bereft of ideas – no real desire to win and still warming up after 45 minutes
Can we win (I refer to the title of todays blog) – only by a miracle using Plan B
Do they need reminding they are playing for the title?
2nd half on the way come on ARSENAL!!!!!!!!!!!!
how did the 1982 Arsenal team morph into our current squad for the first 50 mins?
Just popped another ‘holic pound on Chamakh to score next at 7/1. Jebus, nearly lost it straight away.
I thought that was Brunted in for a sec…
Come on Yellows….for the love of….
Nasri is due a goal
Bendtner? 3 Strikers….Ramsey off
FFS đ
What the fuck did Almunia do just now! Jesus christ!
that was simply fucking horrible……..I’m losing hope
League cup final sort of goal……
Jens to come on?
It will be a late blog tonight boys. If not tomorrow morning. Fucking fuming here.
We’ve got half an hour to state our case for the league….COME ON ARSENAL
Man U still 0-0
that was shocking i have nothign to say absoulutely jack shit!
Why on earth is Almunia out there……why???
ah i give up! this is ridiculous, if we cant score we wont win jack…grrrrr
by ‘out there’ I mean coming for the ball…..

The highest paid clown in the world.
ARSHAVINNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN……..

still fuming with almunia, though!!
great block Squilacci
fuck…Berbatov scored
Need a goal Gunners….
Corner…come on
sorry for all the posts ‘holic…..
2 points pissed away…..
We simply have to play a 4-4-2 as we can’t keep clean sheets
Almunia costing us points and losing us the title?
Well, that’s new!
Still not happy at this end that second goal was abysmal, apologies but Almunia is just in the wrong fucking trade! Please play Lehman for the rest of the season from now on.
We fucking blew again, this was another chance to get closer to the Mancs but we have to fuck it up as usual.
First half please don’t get me even started! Second half that fuck up by Flappyunia was a disgrace!
Denislon needs to see a psychologist ne looks line one lost but on that pitch and if not good enough get rid.
I have a terrible ringing in my ears now…..same old Arsenal!
‘holic
They couldn`t come back.
You were spot on and they still are a very good side, just not their time yet!
Cin-cin
Dear Alex Song,
Get well soon….
So close yet so far…
At least the attitude is right.
Imagine if we’d played for 90 minutes instead of 20
Gael awarded the Denilson poor passing Cup again leading to Almunia’s wander/wonder
AA came alive then RvP puffed the ball over the line – imagine where it might have gone if he’d kicked it
Lucky Lucky Arsenal
Coyrrr
Dropped points? Defensive fuck up? You don’t say? Who would have thought that? I mean we are so strong at the back. Best squad ever……..
Bored with the same old shite costing us.
Still, the increase in ticket prices will soften the blow.
Dear Steve T
Nobody said that missing our two first choice defenders and keeper results in being in the strongest position defensively. Measure your words more carefully, else you end up looking like one more puppet đ
I obviously need to calm down will go for a bike ride with the little Gooner now.
Someone needs to wake them up from their dream, and kick em up the bollocks!
Simply 2-2 not good enough!
Steve T
I’m just as pissed as you are, but don’t forget that we haveTHREE goalkeepers out injured. THREE. Not one, not two but THREE. You have to admit it’s bad luck there.
Almunia, Denilson and Diaby : OUT.
manu scored with 10 men.wow.Take a bow almunia.
lets face it boys, as much as it pains me to say, we bottled it. Pure and simple. Fuck i am shattered
Well thats that then.
Andri.
We started with our first choice keeper at the start of the season and 2 centre halves that we spent a lot of money on. If you care to check what I have said on here over the last 2 years you will know my opinion has not changed. You may want to appraise yourself of the facts. If you are happy with the amount of points we have thrown away with fuck ups then good luck to you. I for one am not. Guess we will have to agree to disagree.
dissapointing another defensive howler 2 points dropped or 1 point gained we shall see. still in our own hands and win our game in hand and beat manure we have to hope.
Manure certinally have problems of their own right now with Evans straight red means they’ve lost another central defender.
However they scab a 1-0 win and that’s what wins titles and is what we need to learn to do and fast
Surreal thought but wouldnt we be better off playing an injured Chesney than that idiotic spanish waiter? In all my years supporting this great club, I have never seen worse goalkeeping. Yeah right, Jim Furnell, maybe, Geoff Barnett on his off days, poor young Manninger, possibly, but jeeze! The waiter does it time after time after time. Still won;t boo him at The Emirates, just hoping Wenger passed him a one way ticket to Spain and the team bus left without him. Thank you Manuel Almunia, you just cost us the title, piss off.
Oh fuck, Wenger is blaming the pitch. It was a game of football played on a rugby pitch’ Cant he just for once say ‘WE WERE SHIT’.
Really? Please tell me he has not said that?
15 goals attempts to 3
2 – 2
Almunia fucked up. But the offensive players haven’t covered themselves in glory either…
Matt. I really do not know how many times we have to highlight the fact that we are not clinical enough. Something we have all said for most of the season. It will ultimately cost us.
I am a big fan of his, but Wenger would do really well to come out and apologize to the fans for that performance. Howlers as the conceded goals were, we had no ambition until the last twenty minutes.
I see the camera focussed on Ray Clemence in the stands watching the match… another AW signing possibly? đ
The positives.
Good come back.
Ref was alright-ish.
The pitch *DID* contribute to their second goal by bouncing virtually vertically instead of a true forwards bounce… the fact that the two usual suspects where also in no-mans land just helped the pantomine to continue. Ooh to, ooh to be… and all that.
Nearly nicked it.
LWC’s didn’t win.
Now now Lads, we can’t blame Almunia for being, well, *Almunia* can we?
Once again we have a shit load of injuries in all the wrong places and yet we still remain The Arsenal with our heads held high. It’s still in our hands… win the next match.
I can’t tell for sure…but did Bendtner head or use his arm to set up the 2nd goal? It does look like the arm but the video isn’t great. If it was the arm then perhaps a bit of refereeing luck finally went our way?

It was his arm…his head wouldn’t have directed it there….
All you can do is laugh, really. What else are you going to do? Get stressed?
We are stuck with what we got for the next 9 games. We cant defend, period. So we have to attack. I’d like to see us play 4-4-2 with Chamakh starting. I thought he played ok today.
I would like to see a league table on the ratio of goals scored versus goal attempts. I bet we would be near the bottom.
@126
I’m sure you’d be right….
how many times have we hit woodwork this season (and last, and the one before)
Wow…Chelsea have had more total shots than us this season and scored quite a few (8) less goals. We’ve had the most on target….

Wigan & Fulham look to be the least succesful in turning chances into goals….Man Utd the most efficient (no shock there)
