Movement Of Arse People
Jul 5th, 2011 by 'holic
I have indeed trod through great tribulation in the last twenty-four hours as the first of the captives was set free. Gael Clichy opened his eyes and looked within, and decided he was distinctly dissatisfied with the life he was living.
Goodbye to the last tenuous link to the Invincibles. His desire to move on was matched by his mentor’s willingness to let him try and take that next step of his career in the altogether more lucrative surroundings of the City of Manchester stadium. Like most, it seems, I am grateful to him for his service. He does not depart under the cloud that seems to permanently hang over his predecessor. He will not be villified when he appears against us in the sky blue in the coming season. Muted appreciation is more likely, and well-earned.
But if the title track of Exodus is the most used in Arsenal headlines this week I’m reminded more of another of the masterpieces that graced the same piece of vinyl. I’m anticipating the imminent arrival of a replacement for our newly-departed left back. Surely well in hand given how poorly kept was the secret of Clichy’s inevitable flight. I’m expecting a significant signing before we get on the plane to Asia at the weekend, or the wisdom of such a trip might come under further scrutiny. So come on Arsenal, because…
I don’t wanna I don’t wanna
I don’t wanna I don’t wanna
I don’t wanna wait in vain.

I just love the shot of what Bob would look like if he were stuck on the Happy Train mark 2 with you lot!
Marley rules π
Best title yet! Allow yourself a drink young man! Now, to read the missive…
We need movement TO the Arse, people!
Thumbs up for the use of Bob Marley’s song.
New article! Cheers ‘holic. Now time to read it.
Evening ‘Holic
Digging the positive vibes. Bob would have been a great compliment to our HT Mk II – was he a Gooner? We’ll get extra stocks for the GT in his memory prior to the maiden voyage and we’ll keep his albums on the preferred playlists of the HT’s entertainment system.
*raises glass (again) to Gael’s future and the memory of Marley*
Still think Jacob was the more talented Marley. If only he hadn’t gone into business with that old Mr. Scrooge (or was it Wenger?)
By all accounts, TS, he was a huge Santos and Brazil fan.
TS@7, not sure if Bob was a Gooner but I’ve played footie with Ziggy Marley several times here in LA. Played in a tournament against his team,Tuff Gong, a couple of summer’s ago. 1 of my all-time prize possessions is the Wailers debut Vinyl LP “Catch A Fire” with the Artwork opening up like a “cigarette lighter”. 1 of the Classic packages & Albums of all time.
I’d also hazard a guess that Ziggy has some of “California’s finest”, if you know what i mean.
I too wish GC the best of luck, especially against ManUre, but not against the Arse.
The choice of Marley music is most ideal on the HT for the blazer crowd. He was a big footy fan to boot.
Cheers ‘Holic & Bernard for those footballing facts on the Marley family.
I remember that album artwork too though never had the foresight to purchase it.
Any intel ‘Holic on Gael’s replacement???
Nothing nailed on TS. The tea ladies are on a tour of India prior to joining the official party in China next week seeking out the finest leaves for the Club Level cuppa this season.
I too wish him well, always gave everything and his first few seasons were excellent.
Dipped in form and became less reliable at the back in the last couple of seasons, so a change will probably do him good as well.
Just a shame he couldn’t have taken Denilson, Eboue, Rosicky, Squillachi and Vela with him.
CoYRRR’s
Who will be next to try and replace Flint McCullough in my affections? Nice one ‘holic.
Birmingham was the beginning of the end for Clichy. He never recovered from that game and to be honest the club never recovered. That season was the closest we have come to winning the title since the Invincibles. Its been downhill since
The rumour is TV will be LB next season.More madness from the not so special one
DAFT!
My friend, you are missed.
And the ducking stool, and sload et al.
Hope all is well.
I’m annoyed at headlines proclaiming how far we’ve lagged behind in transfers this season.
United – lost a keeper and a midfielder. Spent 18 million on a kid keeper, spent another 17 on a bench defender and another 17 in a position they already have a good player. They still don’t have a replacement for their retired midfielder and nobody wants to release their targets.
Liverpool – spent 20m on a lower-table kid.
City – bought a left back and look like losing their no. 1 player.
Spurs – bought …
Chelsea – bought … a manager.
Good punning, Bob’holic.
Cheers.
One of the many regrets in my life, missing the chance on seeing Marley & the Wailers live before he went for the Great Spliff in the Sky.
But as Bob said in another tune, “everything’s gonna be all right” so we should recover from the departure of Gael – my preference would be Mr Baines but more liable to be someone obscure knowing Arsene.
Any chance we can get ziggy to turn out for the HT Mk II 5 a side team? (No ulterior motive associated with the CMC, none whatsoever….)
Rent by the Pet Shop Boys appropriate for anyone joining city
Good for him, life goes on player come player goes, club remain, but my main problem is if Gael win something with his new club it will be a very disgrace to AW.
Nice summing up, Savage. A drink for you, I think.
`Catch 22` situation for Wenger. He can`t move until he knows the bottom line with Nasri and Fabregas, on the other hand if he waits his targets may not be available. As far as a replacement left back is concerned he just needs to look into his current squad . To do this he will probably want to give them a run in Asia before making a bid for someone like Baines. At centre back I don`t think he can afford to hesitate too long if he seriously intends on bringing in quality, and I`m sure he is. So, for me Baines and Cahill with a chance of signing Scott Parker. A goalkeeper? Well, yes and no, there`s no panic.
Only 57 more waiting days till the ‘window’ closes. That’s enough time to make a special cocktail. Let’s try a superwengerosa. It takes weeks to strain and weeks to settle but by jimmy– does it work out in the end and does it deliver??? Anyone for a tilt at the quad again next year?
Well, what do you know…
http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/transfer-news/Arsenal-insist-Samir-Nasri-not-for-sale-unlikely-to-sell-Manchester-United-Manchester-City-Inter-Milan-even-if-offered-25million-article760005.html
Not too sure I’m happy about him staying… Very mad/hurt/whatever at his greediness (and yes I know everybody in world football is but this ain’t a head only business, it involves a lot of heart).
Would rather Cesc stayed and we sold Nasri and go get someone with the money earned on him.
I’ll have a couple of those superwengerosas please π
Nice one ‘Holic @ #13. Dr.z wil be very pleased to hear this. Those leaves will compliment HT Management’s gold pipes nicely π
Savage @ #18, great post. Way too sane for this bar.
zico @ #20, re: your last paragraph. Great idea on both fronts. Bagseye goalie and gatherer of Z’s herbs π
For those who enjoy a really good laugh, read this:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2011587/Roman-Pavlyuchenko-Spurs-leapfrog-Arsenal-finish-three.html
Pure, delusional, LWC cockdom with a big portion of inferority served fresh on the side. If you thought our PR was bad….
FOYS FIOS UTA!
Donnyfan1 ,
I’m with you – Poppy love anyone – I’ll get my pipe .
Ah the Osmonds – buck teeth , wholesome good looks and a little bit crazy on the religion front – remind you of anyone ? – yes indeed – welcome to the Home of Football Kaka .
You heard it here first .
And for all you doom-mongers out there , was out tonight with that rarest of fellows – a well informed and intelligent Spud – who simply cannot believe the internal animosity towards the great AW .
I’m on the HT mark II come what may , and I don’t even need a big Marley Relaxer to get me there .
Come on the Arsenal .
tabs,
Donny + Jimmy = Osmonds = Puppy Love, although ‘Poppy Love’ just as relevant here.
Glad to hear you trying to conserve our resources. You’ve really earnt your gold pipe tonight π
My mistake TS π , but I’ll take the Gold pipe all the same .
And sod Lars Bar Bill π
Tabs – just seen another Spud on SS News, none other than Mr Hoddle who has nothing but good words for AW and says he would not put it past him to pull off a remarkable rebuilding job, and win something next year.
Cusop, Hoddle etc. – how about a Closet Gooner carriage on the HT Mk II.
zico – yesterday @246, ref your excellent itinerary of carriages, and speaking as I was, above, of closets, I still have seen no mention of a WC on the HT Mk II.
TS – keep the good stuff coming old chap! By the way, if you’re serious about your knee, consider the normal permissions given to ‘Holic to pass on my email address.
Snir @ 26 – you really must stop believing anything you read in the Daily Mirror. Only your shaving mirror will tell you the truth – and it’s often not pretty. (Mine, of course, not yours!)
Catalan – if the Closet Gooner carriage becomes a reality, we must conspire to create a few treatment “mishaps” that look like genuine accidents.
Blimey you lot are too productive for me!
TS, knee? Where did that come into the equation? Address passage required?
Hello Trev , how’s tricks ? your post in the last set of drinks summed up perfectly what I think , even if I’ll pass on the Ovaltine . π
We can’t afford Kaka tabs. Nor the Osmonds for that matter.
Too much abuse of the Pipe causes knee-lock ‘Holic π
Kelso at the Telegraph seems to have been persuaded that we need to know how lucky we are that Darren Dein got us Β£7m for a French international full-back from the richest club in the world.
Despicable little cunt.
Tabs – thanks for the kind words.
Thought of the day:
If David Dein is still such an avid Arsenal fan, can’t he give his son a bleedin’ good slippering?
‘Holic – TS asked in the last set of drinks if I could do something about his knee. I’m not sure if it was serious or not. If it was, he is welcome to my ether residence.
SV ,mate , my mum’s next door neighbour’s cousin twice removed met the gardener of Kaka’s primary school teacher , so I have it on good authority .
And , you.re wrong , if Fab goes ( which he won’t ) , we can afford him .
By all means Trev & Holic. The equation is roughly falling off bikes + playing 5-a-side + being in my mid 40s = wretched knee.
Didn’t Darren Dein marry Irving Scholar’s daughter ? Like you say ‘Holic , a despicable cunt .
We could get the Osmonds for less than Kaka …
Off to the wretched knee mail service. Give me five π
tabs @ #41,
That’s way closer to the truth than most hacks get to a transfer story.
I see the Mail (John Edwards, whooo?) is now suggesting that Nasri to Citeh is just about a done deal.
Another DLC Holic?
A rendition of Crazy Horses perhaps whilst our newly appointed No.3 Oleg Luzny bombs up and down the touchline …
And you can add Scholes to the DLC list, in fact he’s a DLGC.
Any more for any more?
Can you name them tabs without resorting to Wiki or similar?
I’ve got:
Jay, Alan, Donny, Jimmy, Marie
Who’s missing? No cheating mind π
Not in my book TS , but it gives Le Grove something to blow their gaskets about .
Wayne ?
Trev @ #39
Belated Heh!
Saviours of The Arse my arse. It’s all about the money.
Would need to cheat for the other one – can’t be arsed
We have a winner @ #51! How do you do it Encyclopedia Tabstannica?
Were there a few other peripheral Osmonds? Mom, Pop, etc….
This is ridiculous, how many years can we sit back and watch as this crap happens over and over and over again. If they lose Cesc, Nasri, Gail and even Denilson or B52 without bringing in anyone I’m going to lose it. What on earth is Ivan doing besides unsettling our players and fans? He has done nothing since his arrival and they (the board) should do something about it. I’ve never heard of a team getting ride of it’s players first rather than their coach. I am absolutely fuming at how we have handled this transfer market and it’s pathetic!! We becoming the laughing stock of the league and the world for how we are run.
NO F’ing BID FOR CAHILL? I can’t take listening/reading about another potential target for Arsenal. It’s a disgrace and something needs to happen ASAP!
GO OUT AND GET CAHILL, SAMBA, BAINES, OX and keep Cesc and Nasri and fucking compete for the table and not your pocket book you greedy no talent ass clowns.
Ah, just seen #53, don’t blame you.
Trev – You misunderstood me when I posted that link.
I didn’t say I believe everything the daily mirror writes cause I don’t. I actually believe Nasri WILL be sold.
I was just thinking out loud about the possibility of Nasri staying and Cesc leaving, and I don’t like that possibility at all.
To me, Nasri has burnt a lot of bridges and I’m not sure I even want him to stay.
Your thoughts?
P.S: My shaving mirror is pretty only when I use Gillette since TH14 endorses them π
USA Gunner. Welcome to (or back to?) our bar. You seem to be doing a really good impression of “Angry of Mayfair”.
As it’s late here may I respectfully suggest that you pull up a comfy chair, have a drink of your chocie on my tab, take a breath and stop reading all those nasty links on NewsNow. It’s 99% BS and will drive even the calmest person into the depths of insanity.
Trust me, we know about insanity here….
Just cheated TS – Merrill.
USA – Just relax and get your pipe .
Right I’m off .
Tomorrow Chaps .
Good ideas tabs.
G’night/G’morning all.
SV, it’s your watch now. Play nicely π
Mr. G,
You have a very thin skin and are easily upset. I hope we keep Sami somehow. But if he doesn’t sign and he only has one year left on his contract then business dictates that we must off load him. We cannot run the risk of losing him on a free this time next year. If we could get Β£25m for him, as some reports have said, I’d say we have to take it. Let him follow Clichy to Citeh but we cannot let him go to ManUre under any circumstances (unless, they are the buyers).
Can’t believe that OJ2 case today in the States. A mother kills her two and a half year old child and gets off scot free … just like OJ. I guess abortion, two and a half years after the birth, has now become de facto legal now in the USA. Sad day for the justice system, I’d say.
s/b We cannot let Sami go to ManUre unless they are the only prospective buyers. Which is unlikely. And if that were the situation, I’d still have trouble dealing him to ManUre because I loathe them so much. But logic would have to win over emotion there too. We’d have to accept the deal because it’s better than getting nothing for him next year.
Snir @ 57 – “your thoughts” ?
Snir, I am determined not to have any thoughts, just to wait and see what happens. I refuse to stress myself out over greedy players who should consider themselves priveleged to do something they love(?) at vast expense to thousands of others who can ill afford it.
In general, I am disgusted at the behaviour of most, not all, of these players and agents who share not one atom of the loyalty and love we have held for this club for many, many years.
I am sad that our traditions have been sold down the road as our club, rather rapidly, metamorphises into an American corporation.
I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised at the lack of loyalty shown by some, not all, as they simply seek out the fattest wage packet they can get their greedy mits on. They have, after all, no real Arsenal ties – I hope on hope that Jack Wilshire proves to be an exception – and have not grown up as fans of the club. No more Charlie Georges or Tony Adamses these days.
I just wish they wouldn’t add insult to injury as they leave, proclaiming their desire for trophies above money.
I hope they have seen, on tonight’s news, the pictures of starving children, the victims of Africa’s drought, in emergency camps housing families whose entire possessions are contained in a carrier bag.
I hope it could make some of them more content with their lot, and more ready to fight for what they want, instead of just walking away because it has not been given to them. But it won’t.
I was so deeply disappointed at the way our team surrendered at the end of last season, that I decided not to worry about who came and went over the summer. After all, things could hardly get much worse.
I decided to try and enjoy the summer without subjecting myself to any more stress over this team.
Is it working ? Sometimes.
Those, Snir, are my thoughts. Cheers to you.
Now where’s that bloody Happy Train ?
Trev – While I admire your attempt not to concentrate on greedy players, I have to say I tried to do the same by claiming a place in the Secure Unit but I just couldn’t do it. It’s become a habit going through news websites.
While I do it (unwillingly) I have to say I came across arseblogger’s piece on Nasri and it his hypocritical behavior drove me mad.
Be a man and say you wanna leave, but don’t be a two faced liar.
At the end of the season he was quoted saying we were the best team in the EPL and should have won the EPL and now he says this whole deal ain’t about the money but the need to win trophies and Ballon D’or?!?!
Have we weakened that much since June? Apart from an 18 yo keeper, 19 yo CB and Ashley Young for UTD, there haven’t been any signings by the top 4.
How could he change his opinion because of De Gea, Jones and Young?
He can’t. Meaning he’s a greedy old bastard and I’m not sure I’d be able to forgive him (just like a lot didn’t forgive Adebayor) if he stays.
I should add that the regulars in here have been brilliant since the season ended. Really entertaining – some great laughs – some real Arsenal fans.
At least some things never change.
Snir – I sais exactly the same thing about ManUre’s signings in the last set of drinks.
They are certainly not what WE need. Young (and Young), unproven in the Premier League, and inconsistent. But they cost Β£50squillion so that must be a good thing.
Chill Snir – the CMC is well stocked. Your fretting will make no difference to our end-of-August squad list.
Relax and be grateful – you could be a Spud.
If nasri goes to manure on the free next summer, I’ll throw away my pipe. No jokes.
Agreed Cheezer. That’s the worst case scenario.
If Nasri goes to ManUre on a free next summer I will buy a pipe and take up blazin’ π
Mr. G,
You’re upset at Nasri because he wants to go but not at Cesc (who obviously wants to go to BarΓ§a). Isn’t that inconsistent? Shouldn’t you be upset at both?
Ok, I’m relaxed and back…after a few drinks. Should be interesting to see what pans out. Story be told that players who leave don’t usually find happiness. You think they would learn. Has anyone that has left actually won anything?
Hleb
Flamini
Ady
Reyes
Toure – well he didn’t do anything in the FA CUP
Would be nice to get rid of the French and bring in some English blood. Any word on what Jack and Aaron think of all of this?
Great site guys.
UG – The English younsters are way too overpriced. That’s why Le Boss shops on the continent.
Ashley Cole and Thierry did quite well after their departures.
Truth is, once our players get too good we simply can’t afford to pay them based on our rigid salary structure policy and the self-sustaining model. We’ve become just like most EPL clubs in that respect. Only we deal at the higher end of it.
Why is it taking sooooooooooooooo long to sign Fivehead? Anyone.
SV – I’m not mad at Cesc, for the simple reason that he doesn’t want to leave.
He wants to play for Barca, as it is his childhood dream, but if it ain’t Barca it is only Arsenal.
I’ve compared it quite a lot to us fans, cause bottom line, Cesc is a Barca FAN and I know I would have done the exact same.
Imagine this – You’re supporting Arsenal but you know you won’t get any first team opportunities there and you move to a club somewhere in the world where you become the club captain and fall in love with the club.
About 5 years after joining that club, Arsenal say they want you to play for them and not only that they are Europe’s best team and win trophies on an annual basis. You have dreamt for years to play for the cannon at the Emirates and want it badly.
I don’t resent Cesc for wanting to move cause he thinks like me, he thinks like a fan, I know I would choose the same if Arsenal would have wanted me to play for them and I would be a club captain somewhere.
USA gunner i share your concerns i wish i did not have a computer i swear it was easier over here to just see what rolled out opening day of the season.this site appears calmer than others may stay a while and enjoy a few drinks to calm the freying nerves
Mr. G,
How would you feel about Cesc if he were to somehow miraculously end up at Real Madrid this summer? I take it that you might feel the same way about Cesc as you currently do about Sami?
Trev @ 1.31
I wish I had stayed up for that.
Word.
Come back at lunchtime for a ‘holic exclusive.
Trev@63: I wish everybody would read your post and if they don’t understand, read it again until they do.
U.S.A. Gunner – You and I are among the few on this site who aren’t tranquilised by complacency and apathy. The A.K.B.’s that inhabit this site are blissfully unaware of what is actually happening at the club. They prefer to be kept in the dark and fed on B.S. It’s much easier to cope with, than having to confront the reality that our club is being mismanaged on and off the field.
Two of our first teamers have stated they can’t see a future with the club. One has already left. They want to win things i.e. trophies. Who can blame them ? We can’t sell our crap players ( no-one wants to buy them ), Big name players seem reluctant to sign for us, and if they ARE interested, Wenger always bids less than the going price, thus ensuring we miss out. This in a season when Wenger says he will get “serious” and spend money. Money that he has had, and STILL has. Even more so after the sales of our latest refugees.
We finished fourth in a two horse race in one of the poorest quality Premier league seasons for years. Competed in four competitions and bombed out of them all. We have a manager who has not won a trophy for six years, (seven if you just count the league), who cannot motivate players, is tactically inept ( no plan B ), who is obsessed with a youth project that has no end date, and has proven to be a failure.
O.K. I suppose now I’ll be bombarded by the usual platitudes and excuses. “Look what he’s done for us in the past.” “He helped us stay out of debt.” “The stadium.” e.t.c. e.t.c. I’ve heard it all thousands of times. And yes, I know and acknowledge all that. Tell me something new. Start from the year of the start of his/our decline- 2005 to now. Not pretty, is it ?
“In Arsene we rust.”
Trev @ 63 – don’t worry, it’s coming. “Leaves” on the line at the moment….plus a late order for the Incontinent Carriage.
Very intriguing Barman, I may look up from my blueprints at lunchtime.
I think you’ll find we are tranqulised with something other than complacency and apathy, Spectrum π
Spectrum, you are way off base when you speak of “the AKB’s that inhabit this site”. Do stick around here for a while and you’ll notice that we do not think all is well and good, the difference is that many of us realize that there is extremely little we can do about it anyway and that 99% of what is written in the papers is pure bullshit. We just can’t be arsed to have a fit for every headline on NewsNow, and while we can all see that we need to improve we also understand that we know very little about what actually goes on behind the scenes. We all know that deals do or do not happen, but none of us, absolutely none, know WHY they do or do not happen. Personally, I just can’t see the point in running around being hysterical about something I can never in a million years do anything about anyway. I know we need a new defender, I know we need to keep our players fit a lot more, I know we need a back-up for Song etc – but what can I do about it? Throw a hissy fit? No Sir, that is not for me.
Well, there is something we can do about in fact Lars. Probably the only thing that Arsen(e)al Inc. understands to the point of action. It doesn’t seem too popular around these here parts though. It starts with a b. Not that I’m recommending or encouraging it mind you. But it would be heard loud and clear to be sure.
A famous line in a movie, “Build it (stadium) and they will come”.
The counter argument to that can be just as profound and powerful, “Don’t come and they will build it (squad)”.
Morning chums
Trev @ #63 – Worthy of a permanent header on this site with a message above it saying, “please read this before you enter”.
Lars @ #83 – That just about sums it up for me. Another post worthy of its own title. PS: I hang my head in shame. I could not resist the lure of the gold Club Level pipes and have sold my soul to the devil once again. On the brighter side, I don’t believe your debt is ever going to be recalled (I may be talking out of line there) and I’m going to have a quiet chat with zicoincharge about a Scandinavian excursion for the HT that will coincide with your next raid over to these shores. Have you planned your next set of games yet? π
Dr. z @ #81 – Suggestion: The IC to be combined with the unwanted pets section. Will save costs and they (the pets) won’t notice the smell.
Spectrum @ #80 – Welcome to the home of reasoned blogging. I posted earlier this week that in this bar it’s important to choose your TLAs very carefully. I am not an AKB or whatever that really is supposed to mean. We have a great manager (who’s struggling like never before) and even greater opportunities to go forward and regain our natural place at the top. I don’t know any regular here, even The Barman himself, who doesn’t see and acknowledge our current failings and challenges. There is an absolute deluge of Anti-Arsenal bollix swashing through the ethernet right now most of which (IMHO) should be avoided. We all love Arsenal. The last thing our great club needs right now is further division amongst the fan base. Please join us for a drink, have a tug on our many pipes of peace and try to enjoy the journey. Whatever happens, come Aug our boys will be out there fighting on 4 fronts again and will need our support. United we stand, divided we fall.
‘Holic,
Lunchtime exclusive eh? Gotta be worth waiting for…. π
TS: my debt is already out of control so might as well just let it go through the roof!
I have not planned my next set of matches yet, thought I’d wait until the TV selections have been made. Well, I more or less heve to since I can’t book flights and stuff until I know what days the games will be played. Don’t want to book my return flight for a Sunday and have the game moved to Monday… but when I’ve got my plans sorted I’ll let you know, it would be great fun to participate in a ‘Holic bar get-together.
Amongst all the bollix out there, some genuine mirth. Headline of the morning for me goes to ArsenalArsenal:
Softly Softly Catchee Monkey: Wenger Secretly Moving for Bale?
With apologies to our Gooner since ’54 currently residing in the knee-trembling Secure Unit.
Cheers Lars, sounds like a plan. Look forward to it.
TS @ 86 – a very sensible design suggestion – the only thing is that Trev and any other bursting souls may not want to socialise with the unwanted if nature calls…..
PS remember Lars settling his tab is our principal source of funding for Club Level “treats” in the coming season, unless there is something you’re not telling us….
He can settle up at that “get together” π
Heh zico @ 91,
Are you offering yourself as bailiff for that event?
I’ll make him an offer he can’t refuse.
Lars – Sainsbury’s π
You saw it here first folks, The Zicofather.
Ably assisted by Edwin Corelone –
btw, I was merely offering Lars directions to the nearest Sainsbury’s in case anyone thought that anything else was being suggested…..
The idea of a boycott is beyond ludicrous. The club would have had no fans at all during much of the 20th Century under that logic!
With all due respect, etc., etc.
‘Just as I thought I was getting out…. they dragged me back in’ π
Off to sleep with the fishes for a while.
Hi ‘holics,
Trev@63 Great post, you sum up my feelings perfectly
When is the maiden voyage of the HT Mk II going to start? Is there going to be a pit stop in India to pick up passengers from here and for somelocal refurbishments for the CMC? π
No boycott here Charlie. I’ve already paid up!
Harsha – Anything can be arranged…. for a fee before Dr.z makes my sleep with fishes permanent. Costs are high but can be offset with your soul (we’re collecting). Tell us more about the local refurbishments. We’re always on the look out for reliable and high quality sources of supply π
Trev , fantastic post at 63 , and Lars i tip my hat to you too Sir .
Spectrum , I would like to reply , but lost interest as soon as I saw the phrase AKB . I , like everybody else here , am an Arsenal fan , end of .
I did however catch the highly original end to your post , so perhaps I am the loser for not reading it .
‘Holic’s in the business of Exclusives ?! I haven’t been this excited since Charlie Nich flew down in his leather hot pants and said , ” Does my bum look big in this … My Arse ! ”
Line ’em up Barkeeps .
Apologies all for daft moniker @ #99, now corrected.
Morning century man. Well played π
He just waits patiently on the drivel being posted before him and then nips in and steals the glory…..tabs you glory hunter you…..
Spectrum is acting conspicuously like an unwanted pet…..
Effortless TS , a bit David Goweresque in my humble opinion π
Harsha , morning , pit-stop in India for the HT Mark II essential , to pick you up , replenish the CMC , and give the chance for everyone to get a decent Lamb Madras down their necks π
Morning Dr Z , always driven by the Glory me , not the money , Oh no … π
Oh there are a lot of local refurbishments TS
I’m hoping I can bribe my way in with some Kodaikanal magic mushrooms for the CMC π
But zico, I thought you said the blonde down Sainsbury’s had gone?
…hmmm…
Wait a minute here! OK, just so you know, however large my tab is I will not put on a blonde wig and some make-up just to fulfil your fantasies!
Madras and Magic Mushrooms ? … the Menu just got a whole lot better
Harsha @ #105
Yup, works for me. Can you also procure an MT (Mushrom Tin) before we arrive? Any colour but green and must be pet-proof π
Lars in aBlonde wig and pencil skirt , doing the Eddie Kelly Chicken Walk ? Gentlemen , I think we’ve just found our after-Dinner Cabaret π
tabs @ # 104,
Very drole, very topical. Picture the scene. AW and Nanas re-united at L.Colney for the first time this summer in the darkened interview room. Nasri is clutching onto his agent’s coat-tails to avoid the attempted attacks from Bouldy. Arsene is glowering but has a twinkle in his eye.
Over to you maestro?????
Will have to wait for anther day TS – too much thinking time involved π
Yup and probably a little too sensitive and possibly deeply unfunny until we hear the official outcome.
Lars, you can keep your party dress at home – remember I’ve seen your picture – that was you WITHOUT make up? π
You’re Swedish right?
Any spare blondes? (Glossary – BGFS,NS).
I recall a certain Mr.Smallballs may also be interested in ‘any spare blondes’ π
Hint to Lars: Trade your way out of this position π
Just popping in for a swift one to help settle the nerves – feeling v jittery re The Arse 2day – for no good reason I can think of …
Trev I would like to join the general throng of ‘here, here’ (or is it ‘hear, hear’?) re posting 63. As regards your musings re Jack i think we can look to him as an exception to the general rule – i know it’s not a smart move to say such things, especially in this day and age – but the boy clearly seems to love the club. This comes across in everything he says/tweets and even in the way he carries himself. In fact if Cescelona basque kit case does slip his Arse moorings – and if it were down to me – i’d have Jack as Captain. I know he’s very young, but then so was Adams, and like Tone he’s Arsenal through and through; very level headed for his age; plays right in the centre of the park (unlike the obvious candidate RVP), so he can bollock/talk to whoever needs it, and set the tempo of a game; he’ll almost certainly play more games than RVP and get sent off/lose it less; he’s got a little of much needed bite about him and refs/opposition players seem to automatically afford him respect – which can come in handy at times.
But anyway all the above is immaterial as we still have El Capitan
By the by (or is it ‘buy the buy’? It’s the latter if you’re looking in Arsene) I was having a snifter or 2 with my brother-in-law last night. He’s a Newcastle supporter, and gets along along to plenty of their games. He tells me that their left-back, Jose Enrique – who we’ve linked to – is a corking player both defensively and going forward, and a big favourite of the fans up there. He says that the fellow is coming up to the last year of his contract and the board (now there is a strangely run club) have been showing every sign of wanting to cash in on him for some time. Sooooo?
Ta gents – the nerves are a bit becalmed though ‘holic’s impending exclusive has set my mind racing again – TS is the medicine cabinet available old bean?
And Lester, it’s always open for (in)sane regulars. Nice post. Please help yourself π
‘a bit of bite about him’

Btw – “Tottenham Hotspur have been at the cutting edge of football for over 125 years….”
and I thought you lot were on drugs….
Holic has now revealed all, people
Back from summer hibernation Holics….
I kind if switched off, wanted to take some time off, I hate what the media are spurting out about us! What a bunch of Hansens!
Clichy gone, nothing wrong with that, good lad but I think he came up short in the end. Gibbs not good enough to step in on this level for me, injury prone lad too. Hope he has a better season coming.
Need to buy a replacment for Clichy and this guy looks good indeed:
