Chelsea v Arsenal – A Guide For Home Fans
Oct 28th, 2011 by 'holic
How to get here
There are two bus stops outside StamfordΒ Bridge in Fulham. Fans can get to the stadium using the number 14, 211 and 414 buses.
Nickname
The Blues. Definitely not the pensioners. Oh no, not us.
Formed
Rumoured to be 1905, but the earliest records we can find date back only to 2003 and the arrival of our Irish founder, Abraham O’Vich.
Stadium Capacity
41,837, so don’t let anyone tell you we are not a big club. Oh, and we don’t own it either. The landlords won’t let us develop it until we have started to fill it regularly. One day maybe?
Chairman
Bruce Buck, who is managing partner in Europe for the US law firm Skadden Arps Slate Meagher & Flom, who specialise in cases involving discrimination against dyslexics. He has urged his team to “beat the crap out of Arsenal”. Typifies the class and respectability of everybody at the club.
Captain
John Terry. Team-mates love to be close to their inspirational leader, mainly to ensure he is not round their place while they are out, or to protect him from the foreign Johnnies who seem to get upset by him regularly. Typifies the class and respectability of everybody at the club.
Fighting Racism
Chelsea Football Club practices a zero tolerance policy towards racism at StamfordΒ Bridge and takes a leading role in all the major anti-racist campaigns such as Kick Racism Out of Football, Show Racism the Red Card, and all Uefa backed Europe-wide campaigns. We do have an FA exemption however for our captain, see above.
Ground Regulations
Not that many, to be honest. It’s not ours so do what you like, within reason. However please refrain from shouting at the person next to you, even though he may be several seats away.
Our Next Visitors
The Gunners have a very quaint notion of trying to survive in the top flight whilst actually making money at the same time. They are owned by an American capitalist. They will learn the hard way.
Arsenal have rarely triumphed over us since Mr O’Vich brought with him from the emerald isle our founding centre-forward, Diddy O’Drogba, a close friend of the captain, see above. They did however win our last meeting in December 2010, and will know a lot more about us since signing Yossiben O’Youn, another countryman of the founder, on loan.
Their side is likely to be packed out with defenders since they now have four or five fit ones. They will however be without the full-back Sagna, a close personal friend of the captain, see above. Any danger they pose is likely to come from the foreigner, van Persie, who is their version of the captain, see above, but a lesser character, obviously.
Their Supporters
Lay claim to the most absurd nickname. Gooners, would you believe. They are bitter and twisted because since football was founded in this country in 2003 we have won three titles to their one. Don’t forget to remind them of that fact. There will be three thousand of them in the Shed, where some of the older ones claim to have spent a considerable time in their youth, before organised football took a foothold in this capitalist bitch of a country.
We asked one of them, Gooner O’Holic, a distant relative of our founder, if he would risk an English pound on the outcome of the contest. He said he had taken advice from a friend they call TaBS and was recommending an Arsenal win at odds of 5/1 with Bet Fred or Ladbrokes.
And Finally
Mr O’Holic asked us to pass on his wishes to the vast O’Holic family for a happy weekend. He then said some nasty things about our fine Mr Buck. Either that or he was using what Londoners call rhyming slang. We have never heard anything like it since we invaded Fulham, so we have to assume he was being about as friendly as our captain, see above.

First?
Well, A shot of Peter Scot please, before I go to sleep
Nice post ‘holic
That Buck fella is indeed a cunt
Buck, Buck, Buck
B-Buck, Buck, Buck
B-Buck, Buck, Bucky, Buck, B-Buck, Buck, Buck
[repeat 3 times, swiftly]
*fear the chicken, er penguin*
BMBD!
Thanks Harsha.
Thought it was supposed to be 7 pints, ‘holic?
Missing drink might explain the earliness π
Instant hero status for life to anyone who brings a banner “Lets Kick John Terry Out Of Football!”
great post, have not been in for a while hope all are well, cmon Arsenal!
Mwahahaha, I am betting you were actually laughing while writing your preview, ‘holic!
Splendid work! π
Fine post, Guvnor.
BMBD.
Brilliant!just Brilliant! COYG’s
Excellent post!
Top Notch, ‘Holic.
I remember being in New York a few years back and dropped into a bar to watch this very game on the big screen. Newcastle must have had the late game that weekend as there was a bunch of Geordies there getting in a few early drinks and taking the opportunity to watch some decent football for a change. While I can’t quite remember why at one point they all took off a shoe, stood on one leg and sang “Take your shoe off if you love the ‘Toon” I do remember when Chelsea took the field for our game their spirited rendering of “You’re just a small town in Fulham” followed by “When your Russian goes to jail, you’ll be fucked.” Honorary Gooners for the day.
I think the ‘Holic pound is well placed. We are Diddy OβDrogba’s bunny. Without him, have to fancy our chances.
Great , great preview Holic .
Surprised the title hasn’t attracted a few Blue fans to the Bar – Oh wait a minute , they haven’t got any π
And the Bet … you know it makes sense … we’ll be laughing all the way to the Bank .
Pint of London Pride please Holic , and whatever you’re having .
Excellent banner title Dean π
Love your blog and sagely take on things
Fine post ‘holic. Must go wring my socks out. A Glenmorangie for everyone at the bar and a double for the barman.
βholic β that post is genius.
So heavy with irony it could be made-to-measure, in two-fold cotton poplin, with double cuffs, red and white stripes, a classic collar and monogrammed silver stiffeners, fresh out of Jermyn Street in itβs crisp shirty wrapperβ¦
Which is as classy a metaphor as I could come up with after a rather long week.
Pure class βholic. You are a total legend.
A pint of your finest single malt please barkeep, and at least one more for the guvnor. He must still be thirsty after only the 6 tonight π
COYRs
Heh! Brilliant as ever, ‘Holic!
Would be really great if we could win tomorrow. Come on Arsenal!
(trying to think of something intelligent or funny to say but I am horribly tired – think I’ll just head off to bead instead…)
I don’t know how many pints this post is on but it is by far your best ever (at least since I became regular).
A-W-E-S-O-M-E!!!
Massive heh π
Anything tomorrow that inflames the ulcer that is John Terry, will be well celebrated in zico Towers.
The pub beckons a mere 5 hours from now!
Lars @ 17 – off to…bead?
Never had you down as a fan of arts and crafts. Who knew?
π
Thanks all. Looking for some suitable musical accompaniment. I may be in YouTube for some time?
‘Hols,
It may be time once more to get daft.
I’m just sayin’.
BMBD.
I have to say that your preview today and today’s Arsecast are two of the best I’ve read and heard.
You two are legends. Absolutely hilarious. I’m laughing as I type.
Reverse Van Persie cracked me up!
Well, in connection with the Bus theme:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W3B9rBNIoHE
Excitement getting the better of me there – I suffer from premature anticipation.
The (real) pub beckons 15 hours from now.
For all the new Manchester City fans, a reminder of why you have left empty seats in your old ‘home’…
Hah! I was wondering why you would wake up so early to go to the pub, zico!
Holic, Take a bow son, you’ve outdone yourself proper.
Absolute quality ‘Holic, you’ve done us all proud good sir.
Dr Z , you abroad again or does your local open up at 3 00 am ?
Fine work in the last set of drinks from Feelgood by the way π
Now then Arsenal stadium announcer, THAT (@26) is what you call an Elvis song.
Ollie @ 27 – I think Roxette might have got a bit suspicious when the alarm went off π
Anybody else think the keyboard player resembles a young TaBS? π
Ah sorry Dr Z , I see you’ve already answered the question . Was about to jump on a fast one to Scotland !
haha, ‘holic @ 32, now that you mention it…. thank fuck I’m not drinking coffee (or anything else) right now or the keyboard would have got it.
Heh cheers tabs – not abroad, just chronologically challenged again π
Holic @32 heh π just getting out the shades now
Sensational post – one of your best ever.
Looking forward to tomorrow, it’s nice to go into this fixture without feeling we’re the ones most under pressure.
For what it’s worth, I have a sneaky feeling that the Chavs’ teenage manager is starting to realise what a big job he has on. Grab the first goal and we’ll see how his mob deal with the prospect of another defeat.
I also think that whoever plays right back tomorrow has a job on. Any manager worth his salt will stick Mata out there and look to cause bother.
COYG
Bit about the pressure is spot on N7. The world and his dog thinks we will get dicked. 5/1, Arsenal? Bookies rarely get it wrong, but…
Did someone say Doctor Feelgood?
Excellent stuff as always neighbour
“We got a heart full of trouble, a house full of sin
and things are bad as they ever been
If trouble were money
We’d have more money then any club should (We do x 3)
We’re open for business in our neighborhood
The blues is our business and business is good”
Oi, Suggs, don’t watch that, watch this!
Thank you neighbour.
The credit really belongs to Arthur π
Zico @ 25, I’ve set up an emergency exam for you with Nurse Wolfie. Premature Anticipation is the #1 malady Gooners suffer from.
Dont think they are overwhelming favourites, think a draw is the least we will come out with. Chelsea headhunters are now a bunch of suits running around apprentice style trying to find someone to buy their out of date product..
N7.
Mata on the left would be why I would prefer Kos on the right with TV and PM in at CB.
Kos is a better defender than Djourou IMO and his strong point is defending against fleet footed, technical players like Mata.
Holic, the woman knows @ 39.
aab @ 43 – Roxette is ma lady π
As they say in another local parish, fuckin’ excellent.
A pint of plain please sir.
Down to my last 3 cases, aj. Take it steady now π
Snir Geuli
I tend to agree.
Feels a bit of a risk starting TV in a big game so soon but Djorou at right back against the money hungry Spaniard feels riskier still.
Some good mates of mine were at Loftus Road last weekend and said that Mata looked quite intimidated by the physicality of a derby match (he was withdrawn at the break). Hopefully one of our lads can stick one on him early so he knows to expect more of the same.
I also suggest we have a lip reader man mark John Terry.
To complete this great blog idea, looking at the Chelski blog(s, a very fast read given how no one gives a flying f*k about the oligarch’s vessel to respectability) their 10 fans who can write don’t look overly confident:
“This is gonna be a hard game for us”
“Gervinho scares the hell out of me and he is clicking with Van Persie. ”
“I’m terrified by the idea of Arsenal exploiting the space covered by Bosingwa and DL were they both to play.”
“There’s a lot at stake in this fixture; I’m expecting a really tough match, regardless of Arsenal’s troubles this season.”
“This game will be tricky…my heart says 3-1 but my head has other ideas”
“Whatever team he puts out i pray we clinch it”
“In spite of all the recent media hype, Arsene Wenger has pulled together a solid squad which still boasts quality throughout.”
UP THE ARSE!
N7,
The only one I can think of that can do that won’t be in the starting 11 – Frimpong π
Although Song and TV might be able to do so as well.
To be honest I’m extremely confident.
AVB looks to have changed Chelsea’s style of play to a more adventurous one which would open the game as opposed to our previous visits to the bus stop where they had ten men behind the ball and hit us on the break.
Them playing a more attacking style doesn’t really concern me as long as Drogba is not playing and he isn’t so the only thing it’ll do is open them a bit more.
Great post holic, and some music from the real Elvis????
Don’t know if anyone has caught Sky Sports News tonight? Chelski have just issued the following statement.
“John Terry categorically denies racially abusing Anton Ferdinand. However he has not yet ruled out shagging his missus.”
When I find myself in times of trouble
Arsene Wenger comes to me
Speaking words of wisdom, Diaby.
Diaby, Diaby,
Diaby, Diaby
He knocked out John Terry
Diaby…..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x5hd-RJUHIg
Ultimately, those bastard blues are in for it mate!
Steve T -wahey!
JT is a spikey headed git! Another kick in the jaw Diaby stylee should see him right tomorrow! π
Ha ha, very good. Don’t make many away games, but watching in 3d. Cant wait and slightly optimistic/pissed. Go on you Gunners!
Fantastic post, great idea, excellent execution. Let’s hope the boys are as creative and accurate tomorrow.
brilliance, ‘holic, especially the elvis…
let’s “beat the piss outta them” in the midday tomorrow!
go gunners!
Cmon you Gunners
Cmon you Gunners
Show the world what you can dooooo
Cmon you Gunners
Cmon you Gunners

And that was with Drogba playing
Very late, very rapid drop in.
Great post ‘Holic, on 6 pints, Blimey!!!
Matt @ yesterday – thanks for the very interesting ‘Glove’ link.
Zico – Feelgood Diaries @ yesterday – nice one π
“Chelsea 1 – 2 Arsenal, Buck-ing Hell !” π
G’night, COYRRRSSS!!!
I found a brilliant interview with Lee Dixon about the upcoming fixture.
I always have time for what he has to say…
http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2011/oct/28/lee-dixon-arsenal-chelsea
Supreme work maestro, very funny stuff.
I best get to bed or I’ll never be up in time.
COYRRR.
What about Fernand O’ Torres? Oh yes, Verminator will have him choked with his iron fist. Cheers to 5/1
Very entertaining post, ‘holic. Come on Arsenal!!!
Stamford Bridge is falling down, falling down, falling, down
Stamford Bridge is falling down, Poor old Chelsea.
Fill me up with RED and WHITE, RED and WHITE, RED and WHITE
Fill me up with RED and WHITE, Poor old Chelsea.
The Arsenal !!! The Arsenal!!!
Possibly your funniest post yet, ‘Holic.
Top ‘o the mornin’ to ya
Have a great time all, in my old stomping ground. Especially TS and Snowy.
Wow, flurry of drinks overnight
I have a good feeling about this game. We can win it, but draw would be a good result too
Come on Arsenal!!
Thank god for inventing beer.
The last time we played Chelsea I was so plastered I nearly made the TV fall when Song scored that goal…
Gonna get so plastered today it’s gonna be 44 players, not 22!
And two Andre Marriners! Now that would be horrible!
Snir@69: careful now – two Andre Marriners sounds dangerous!
Holic@32, you are right! Tabs, why have you never told us you played with Mr Costello as a youngster? π
Snowy@20: seems I did say something funny after all, I just didn’t realize I did!
CoR@62, cheers for the link. Good read.
N7@37: well said. I also think today is much more massive for Chelsea, a loss would not be a disaster for us as long as we put up a good fight but a loss for them, no matter how it comes about, could send them on a similar downward spiral as they went into last season because make no mistake, the players who were there for that one are almost to all still at the club and they will remember what happened then.
But then again, a big-score loss for us and we are back at square one – so let’s just go there and win the game!
Come on Arsenal!
Hate Sp*rs
Dislike Manure immensely
Contempt for Chavski and now Citeh
My money’s on a tidy little 2-1 to us, bookies don’t fancy us at ALL, paddy power offering a whopping 18/1 on that scoreline. Too good to pass up, much too good.
Dunno how good bosingwa is for their defence but at least dog-boy won’t be around to score his customary annoying goal…and you can add ‘dangerous two-footed challenges’ to his massive repertoire of cuntishness too.
Gerv to set one up for VP, and then vice versa in the 80th minute.
Come on you Redssss
My favorite Arsenal game at the bus stop.

Morning Holics
I had a dream we lost today, I look at my dreams and always the opposite happens.
Come on you REEEEEEDDDDDDDDDDDDSSSSSSSSSS!
May your dreams keep being horrible, Arthur!
Too right Ollie π
Also ArsenalTalk is celebrating today we have been accepted by NewsNow Publisher Network.
Come on lads make us proud today! I know it wont be easy but I know we can do it!
Well done Arthur.
Morning all. Be patient today. Keep everything crossed. Grabbed that 5/1 with a vengeance last night. Certainly wouldn’t have done it sober.
Congrats, Arthur!
Cheers Holic and Holics!
Everything is crossed even the management!
heh, ‘holic 78. May it be a lucky pound too.
Right now Ollie I wish it was only a pound!
Ladbrokes have followed Chandler and cut to 9/2. Bet Fred still go 5’s.
Right off to the juicer , so just time to say Good Luck everybody , let’s show these chavvy racist johnny-come-latelys the way home . TS and Snowy , have a great day out .
I’m with Camberwell , 2-1 to the Arsenal ( though I think we might nab a third ) .
Lars @70 , you’re right , modesty prevented me from writing about my time on the road with Elvis . Tragically , we clashed when I wished to take the Group in a fresh musical direction – mostly Speedo-inspired , I have to admit – and I was forced to leave .
As regular readers will know , I then formed Tabs and the Tabloids , which after a promising start , also failed when my last single ” Ray Clemence and Graham Roberts were once Lovers ” was universally panned as “the worst piece of trash ever ” .
Since leaving the musical world , I have dabbled in Swimwear design , football management , and drug dealing . Success has not always been forthcoming , but I am hoping to secure a spot in the next series of Celebrity Love Island . They’ve promised me Selina Scott π
COME ON YOU GUNNERS !!!!
82, ah I see.
Tabs and the Tabloids, heh. Looking for those priceless bootlegs now.
@Holic 82
Things we do when we are not sober π
Tabs and the tabloids were massive in Georgia (the island, not the State) – I applied for the job of roadie only to discover I would have to wear speedoes – hence the current infatuation Wolfe has with swimwear…..
Arthur , forgot to mention , hearty congratulations .
Ollie – They’re worth a fortune . π
Dr Z – so , so true π
@73 – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NZSvfGfgSKw
@74 – http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j_HOAcdHp2I
Sorry π
Cunts on the arses already moaning about Djourou’s selection.
Might be time to isolate myself from the interweb. Well a few drinks here can’t hurt.
Off to the tv.
Saw the team, and have backed all of the back four to score first.
JD 66/1
PM 50/1
LK 50/1
AS 33/1
Our Father, who art in heaven…
Fucking heh, ‘holic. Are you sober now? π
Heh, chill Ollie
I’m pumped up for this one. Come on you reds!
I’ve closed the arses now, Harsha π
Hope ette ignores the cunts too.
No pre-match stuff on C+ for early kick-offs so waiting a little more to switch on the TV.
O’Holic, you O’Maestro you π
Great start to the day. Breakfast & Guinnii with Snowy & 3 Tarquins all surprisingly good company (the Chavs I mean).
Just a out to enter the ground.
UTA, COYRRRs!!!
Phew.
Just had time to shit, shower, shave, now I’ll open the bar again, warm up the TV, tap a beer and away we go….
COYRRR.
Enjoy professor – guinness cordon currently in front of me π
Man city in the beer cup next! Let’s ave it!
Assist….
Goaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalll!
And scores!
Distracted by Arthur, well in Ollie…..
Well let’s dismantle deese scunts first…
Complete luck, zico, I thought I’d check the drinks just before kick-off, and it happened to be that time.
Right, it’s started now, so COME ON YOU GUNNERS!
COME ON YOU GUNNERS!!!
What a miss
…and another
Theo’s warming!
Come on you reds, its gonna be theo’s day!
We should be 2 up
Typical, we will have chances. Per for his first?
The high line should be outlawed from our club. We clearly have no clue how to play it.
Van the man!!!!
Robin Van Persie, (clap clap clap clap)
Get in there you beautiful RvP
RSVP
Can we get vermaelen on at half time please?
Centre backs playing brilliantly, but we’re giving them too much joy on the flanks.
Come on lads – there’s three points here for us. This lot can’t defend.
Come on ARSENAL!
No…
Should be more chances in the second half.
COME ON YOU GUNNERS!
Bah. Cruel. Mertesacker’s first goal for Arsenal is at the wrong end.
We’ll have to win 3-2 then.
Good team effort this has to be said!
Gervinho’s miss will go begging!
Come on you reds my dream is still within reach!
Lets destroy this shitty Fulham Bus Stop!
We were better then the chavs. I still think we’ll get something from this game.
The full backs are getting zero cover all half but that said theo n gervinho have been our best attacking threat. Santos has been poor and djorou has improved as the half went on. Ramsey has been excellent for me, full of running and looking dangerous in possession. Its gonna be tough and the next goal is vital. Jenkinson and vermaelen on to sort out the defensive issues out wide with the little Russian after 70 minutes to win it for us! Come on you reds, this is not the corner we need to turn but its along the route.
We are getting flanked. 2-1 is cruel on us, but come on Arsenal
Oh do all commentators like to fucking diss Arsenal all the time? I mean, I know Chelsea could have scored more goals, but so could we!
Fucking cunts
We should have scored three. We let two easy ones in. We’re giving as good as we’re getting but I’m with N7, Verminator for Santos, they’re getting a free ride down our right wing.
Perhaps someone should have asked at the AGM why after all these years we still can’t defend corners. Or would that have been classed as offensive?
I’ve turned the commentary off Harsha. Maca The Scouse Moron (MacSMO) and Ian in The Dark (ItDa) are driving me nuts. Cliche after cliche.
Vermaelen for both santos AND Mertesacker. Pitiful defending, I’m afraid.
Are you serious?
I agree we were threatening but we’re lucky to concede only 2.
They’re cutting open our offside “trap” each and every time.
I’m with you Steve. Could have done better myself. Woeful.
Harsha, sound muted since the 11 minute its the only way to watch, the defence has been poor but the commentators have been loving it. Fuck the lot of em i say, ARSENAL BLOODY ARSENAL!
The game’s there for the taking. As poor as we’ve been, Chelsea’s defending doesn’t look that impressive. Sturdy up the defending with TV, and keep going forward.
And thank goodness for Italian commentators. Way better than the English ones (since I can’t understand them).
SANTOS!!!
Santos i take it all back, you reds!
Yereaaaaazsssss.
2saints
That’s something Clichy never did! Come on Gunners!!!
Phew! Only a yellow.
Er, too fast on the fingers. Didn’t want Santos off till he’d scored.
wot do I know?
I love Alan Smith. Forever loyal!
THEEEEEEEEEEEEEEOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!
THEO!
THEEEEOOOOOOOOOOOOO
wwoooooowwwwwww….!!!!
Keeepppp going, reeeddddssss…..
Upwards and forwards….
We’re gonna sneak this 9-8!
and yeah we should keep attacking
Beer all over the table……
We love you Arsenal we do
ohhhhhhhh Arsenal we love you
Memo to sky: we’re winning
ps – cock off
memo to ref: don’t fall for their shit
We’ve got ourselves a captain boys, Robin looks to increase our odds with everything he does. Let’s make sure we see this out…..August will seem a bad memory when we do.
Why that change? Must admit I don’t undetsand that unless JD has a knock
Mad Robin should of cunted him in the basterd
Wants Jenkinson to deliver the cross for our 4th?
WTF Ref? Where was the foul on Santos?
ref hasn’t seen a thing in this half….it’s been a joke
RvP!
Fucking looooove it!!!!
Fucking ref. How has he not seen that.
Fucking get in.
YESSSSSSSSSSSS Van Persie….4-3 up even with the bent ref!
whatttttttt a teaaaaaammmmmm!!!!!!
Gunnerssssss
Jesus.
What a result.
yyyyyyyyyyyyyyeeeeeeeeeeeeeaaaaaaaaaaahhhhh!
Legendary!!!
WOW!!!
Chelsea: crisis club.
With their ten year old manager.
holic pound is multiplying by the minute π
I don’t know what Wenger said at half time, but it worked. Brilliant performances by Kos and RvP.
I fucking told I had my silly dream!
soooo happpy for the captain… a deserve hatrick…
what a team, what a game… what a result…
UP THE ARSENAL
Fuck, yeah!!!!!
Bruce Buck: “let’s beat the crap out of Arsenal”
‘We must unite behind this team, without that we have no chance’ Arsene Wenger Oct 28, 2011
Santos ripped off the first few fingers of Cech’s right hand on the first goal, and RVP ripped off the rest on his last goal. What a game!!!
YYYYYYYYYYYYYAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYY!
RVPPPPPPPPP!!!!!!
What a Marc,, what a result, simply awesome. All the money to RvP, Van the Man. The team played well with others chipping in, even Rosciky in the shirt time. Fantastic!!!
I reached multiple orgasms because of men.
God bless Robin’s left foot.
our defending is scary, so is our attack. Someone was going to get thumped by us soon, so glad it was Chelsea.
Crisis club my arse….
I meant what a match. Too excited to type.
Not many people are behind us but I believe we can be a positive surprise.
Arsene Wenger Oct 28, 2011
What a game by the lads!

Fuk My Old Boots – Up, up, and away, The Arse
WE’re shit.
So I hear………….
Bucket for Buck. Bullions of gold for ‘holic!
Well i’ll be….. What the fuck was that all about. Mental really, but quite frankly who gives a fuck?
TS. Coming over loud and clear.
wow, that felt good.
Psed – Quad still on
URedS!
I love this team so much more than last season’s team.
19 fouls committed.
That for me sums it all up.
going to be very drunk – I’ll Apologise for my inevitable drivel later, now. π
U REDS
Hi ‘Holics!
My first post here(although I have been an avid follower of this blog for the last 2 years), and what a moment to write it!
What a victory for a club in ‘crisis’! RVP is fast becoming a legend. How he rallies the team! It clearly means a lot to him to play for Arsenal, and his appreciation towards the supporters was apparent when he gathered everyone around at the end of the match to celebrate with the supporters. I hope this victory will go some way in building our confidence.
P.S.: A word of appreciation for ‘holic. Your blog is the one I love the most amongst all Arsenal blogs. Everything is in the right spirit – no acerbic comments on the players, the manager. Criticism when deserved is done so in the right tone. During the Dark Ages(Mar – Sep 2011?), I could not bear to read any other blog! Keep it going!
Am on the HT, always have been!
COYRRs!!
I love my football club. I can’t help but feel that the squad reacted to AW’s speech at the AGM.
Keep the faith
Thank Buck for that!
I couldn’t believe we let Jabba and the racist score…but anyway, knew it would be a high scoring game. RVP has all my love. More than I love my Atari. More than I love my pron collection (which is a lot)
We shut those annoying chavs/commentators/journalists up. Long may it continue.
Up the Arsenal. Fuck all the rest.
London Pride all around for you loyal gooners. Plastics get milk.
‘holics,
I’m soooo Short of words!
COMMON YOU RIP-ROARING REDS!!!!!
You know what? Fuck the plastics too, because now they’ll be coming back into the fold…
@191 you must have been watching the wrong game – the club in crisis was wearing Blue from where I was sitting π
Talk about bashing the bus to a full stop
Man of the match for me has to be Santos – only let a couple past him – fantastic goal and good linking – now all he needs is the stamina to last 90 mins without oxygen
Robin was booooooooring with his hat trick
Theo worked well – but then he was up against some twit. What a twit – doesn’t he know that if he makes Theo angry there will be a reaction – foul, trip and then punishment , all in 15 seconds
Once again the ref was on their side – how he allowed their last I’ll never know – still clear victors and 5live were amazed
COYRRRRRREDDSS
8 wins in 9, 8 wins in 9, we’ve got less money but 8 wins in 9………….
Oh, and a big (insert any explicit gesture here) to ‘pundit’ Jamie Redknapp and his ilk.
I’ll have half a crown each way on at least one ‘Vantastic’ headline in the sundays on the morrow
URedTopS!
Come on you Redsssssssssssssssssssssss….
Fucking yes!!!!! Fuck off you fuck-wit commentators
We are the Arsenal!!
And the double C – i’m gonna take a phota of this day with me thumbs up
UReeeeeddddSSSS!
What a way to beat bucking Chel$ki…my heart is still racing! Gotta love Van the MAN, what a way to stand up and lead. Loved how the buckers left, streamed out with the game still on…
And doesn’t Theo plays better when he is pissed… He was enormous throughout…
A R 5 3 N A L
What about Theo’s Henryesque goal?!?! I know I’ve been harsh on him but that was magnificent!!
How on earth am I still sober???
Tim, I hear ya but I have a feeling they reacted to a speech at HT by AW and RvP or maybe even TV.
Baltimorean, Welcome and you are clearly not a Baltimoron. π
Up the ‘holic pound and long may it wave. π
It is days like today that make up for all the bad ones.
A glass of your very finest claret, ‘Holic, if you would. This one will be savoured.
A few bits to do and then I am with you zico. I am then off to get really trollyed.
And do me a favor board members, pay RvP whatever he wants. I’m willing to sell my body in the streets to fund it. Just sign him up.
Thanks, bt8b:)
@Snir
Maybe he reminded them of his belief in their quallatee? I see a team who know they can fight…..he promised a fight and we saw that today, we were down twice and fought back. I’m so happy for these players and for Wenger. Let’s keep it rolling…
Is there a passengers limit on the Happy Train?
Care to build more carriages?
A big drink for Arthur and his horrible dreams!
I’m still sitting with the driver Ollie….it was lonely for a while
I’m licking the HT windows with extreme glee…
Tim, like I said, I love this team a whole lot more than last season’s team.
They definitely responded.
They committed 19 fouls which only means one thing, closing the ball down quickly which is how we need to play and shows effort and determination.
That high line will give us all a heart attack though π
UnSung heroes for me…
Considering he was such a late signing, then came into the team only recently – that Pele’s old side, Santos is getting better and better – imho.
And Arteta d-don’t l-lose the b-bloody b-ball
Up The Arse!
Tim @214: What was different today is that when Chelsea came back to 3-3 it didn’t look like, and I didn’t feel, that our defence’s confidence would immediately drain away as it did so many times in the second half of last season. The back four stood strong (and props to Song for some sterling work in front of them in the second half). And it always felt like we had another goal in us.
At first I thought Mr. O’Holic might have just sowed a few seeds of discontent among a few Chelsea fans but he appears to have done something much bigger. π π
Oh and Song – unsung too
URedS!
Aaaahhhh !!!
Enjoy ‘Holics, Enjoy π π π
RvP a mercenary ?
Watch the celebration – he’s a Gooner π
i guess, it best for theo to picture all opponent left-backs as ashley cunt… then, theo can be inspired all the time and produce this type of performance…
I have to say I’m quite enjoying looking at the tweets from Arsenal fans from the first half, and then the second half π
Indeed NBN and Snir.
You’ve got the feeling that heads never dropped, and there was some tremendous last-ditch throw yourself in front of the ball defending many times during the game.
I love that team’s spirit. Hope they can keep it up!
What can I say?! Bloody loved that and I haven’t seen one second of it! Roll on 7am tomorrow, MOTD can’t come soon enough!!
Buck off Bruce, Wenger haters back in your box and Cusop where are you when we need you – start soiling your pants cuz you ain’t gonna be above us for long…
Mertesacker, Arteta and Santos a big part of the team. On the other hand, did our departed players do as much good in our Chelsea away fixtures of recent seasons?
π π π
Brilliant support at the Bridge, as ever π
And Rambo was fukkin’ immense
Time for a celebratory wank, me thinks. And I may not even wait until I get home.
AL @ 220. Agree that Santos is improving fast. He looks good going forward but still needs to work on the defensive side of his game. He is just not used to defending in the Premier League and it shows at times, both in his positioning and his tackling. A run of games will sort him out.
One other thing Arteta needs to do is pass less to Walcott’s feet and more to the space ahead of him. Theo is much better at beating a defender when he doesn’t have the ball than when he does. And he is more dangerous when he goes outside rather than turns and cuts inside. I also though he had his best game for a while today.
Get Fucking In- Thats the Arsenal we know and love have it you classless Chav Wannabes, And as for that cunt Terry his Bambi on ice impression was bang on the money. Of to a Party shortly with plenty that went today so will be Buzzing and to make things better a few Chavs will be in attendance π
Arsenal boys were having a Party bring your vodka and your Charlie π
Fully Up The Arse.
Heh @ 234 π
Arteta was immense too. He just has that defensive awareness which keeps us grounded at times
Brilliant! I can’t wipe the smile off my face π
NBN – I agree Santos had a rough first half but it was due to that horrible high line/offside trap we played.
Whenever it was 1v1 he came out with ball.
Snir Geuli @238: He’ll be the biz, no doubt. You don’t get to be a Brazilian international if you’re not. Gibbs will have a hard time getting back in the side.
I think I’m in love with a man…
I’m in love with RvP.
Agreed on Arteta – his assist for RvP at the end was lovely. He’s starting to build a nice partnership with Ramsey (who also had a great game).
And Kos, another solid effort in the defense.
CAN YOU FEEL IT? OH YEAH BABY, I THINK YOU CAN!!!
Fairplay NNB there’s still room for improvement with Santos, but the lad’s getting better. He’s quick and he’s got decent physical presence, and fuk me he scores goals.
Re Arteta i’m becoming a big fan of the calm way he knits the whole thing together and moreorless keeps us moving forward with his short and long passing – and he covers others arses at the back.
We’re starting to look like a team and that feels fukkin’ good
URedS!
great photo of Van Persie about to go past Terry for our 4th…..http://shechive.files.wordpress.com/2010/01/real-bambi-on-ice-0.jpg?w=500&h=382
Attention, Attention, all Wenger haters and Arsenal bashers, the Red train is full, go away for good.
I think snowy and TS are having a fun time today!
Heh at Sczc: “I don’t know why I stayed on the pitch but WHAT A GAME!! Great spirit, great atmosphere and a great win! RVP needs to start scoring though!!”
Tim@206 – well played Sir.
URedS!
Best team performance by far this season.
Everyone on the pitch knew exactly whats was expected of them & were willing to fight.
Pleased for Le boss too, ‘cos the team didn’t make him have to eat his words as has happened so often in the past.
Still too high to process the match properly though…
Got one question though…Who’s gonna be dropped to the bench now that Tommy V is back: Merte or Kos…Me thinks Merte.
Just watched on delay; talk about a rollercoaster ride.
Was jumping around with my 4 year old. The first time he has properly watched and got into it. Watching him watching RVP go clear – he could see the goal coming – yes, yes, yes, yeeeeessss! Priceless.
I’m in such a good mood I’ll put myself up to be shot down by you all;
I hated G Neville with a passion as a player, but as a pundit he isn’t too bad. At least he knows what he is talking about, unlike our Jamie.
I seem to have been one of at last 3 persons who predicted Santos to score today.
And I have to say that, personally, I didn’t predict that in view of the history of Arsenal left backs scoring at the Bus Stop.
Weird.
Was just thinking the same thing DW. That isn’t a reflection of Per’s mistakes today either. I still really really rate him. It’s just Kos keeps on putting in imperious shifts.
Not sure if this will work…. hope so;

Thanks CG I have a new desktop background now π
That TV+Kos block at the end was massive. Epic stuff.
YES!! CG. It does; love it.
