The Pound Is On Auntie Ethel To Score At Any Time
Aug 30th, 2013 by 'holic
When the fixtures are released every June if you are like me you look for the North London derbies first. These are fixtures that evoke memories, mostly but not all good, and stir the emotions.
In the last couple of seasons the home fixture has taken on an added significance as a restless crowd demanded and got morale boosting wins on the way to denying our nearest and dearest a Champions League berth. Once again the timing of the fixture is important. The restless have become even more agitated by the lack of activity in the transfer window. Again a result is required, or else.
Such is the nature of the fixture that the crowd did stay largely behind the side a couple of years ago when all looked grim at 0-2. There is little doubt there would have been a reaction at the final whistle had we not turned the game round with an unanswered five goals. A repeat of the 5-2 scoreline last season lifted some very dark clouds hovering above the club at the time.
Now it is time for the thin red line to come up with another performance showing that what we lack in quantity can temporarily be made up for by our quality. Arsene has made a point of emphasising that the visitors could struggle to integrate so many new faces in a short space of time. Indeed they have struck just twice in the League this season, both from the penalty spot, and one of those was awarded for a ‘bit of a Bale’ by Townsend.
As I type Thomas Vermaelen is the only player ruled out of the back four, so we can probably expect to see Bacary Sagna, Per Mertesacker, Laurent Koscielny, and Kieran Gibbs start in front of Wojciech Szczesny. Not a bad back five that. They compare very favourably with their visiting counterparts.
The midfield and front three pretty much picks itself given the absence of Mikel Arteta, Abou Diaby, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and Lukas Podolski, assuming Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshere have recovered from the treatment dished out to them by Fenerbahce on Tuesday night. Those two will start behind Tomas Rosicky in the middle with Santi Cazorla and Theo Walcott operating either side of Olivier Giroud in attack. We were fielding a weaker starting line-up than that a couple of years ago.
That leaves Lukasz Fabianski, full-backs Carl Jenkinson and Nacho Monreal, and ring-rusty Matthieu Flamini on the bench alongside three winners of the lucky programme number which will be drawn by the manager at five to four. It would fill the heart with joy to see my mate’s Auntie Ethel come on for the last couple of minutes and score the fifth goal this season. At fifty-nine years old that would set her up for a very happy retirement.
As well as punting a hopeful quid on Ethel I will be putting the ‘holic pound on a decent 3-1 win to the hosts (Check the price comparison sites for 17/1 against that). The temptation to have a little back-up on a third consecutive 5-2 is being resisted, mainly because I am not sure the opponents could score twice.
It has been quite a mixed week, with the highlight being the victory over Fenerbahce. I will gloss over the continuing transfer stupor. Suffice it to say I thought we had the capacity to add someone better than Matthieu Flamini to the mix, but he brings a degree of versatility that will be welcome. I would expect him to be no more than a squad player frankly, but would be delighted to be proved wrong by the quality of his performances.
I’m looking forward to enjoying a pint with a number of top people on Sunday. The derby invariably turns into a good old party afterwards. It is so important for the club that this weekend is no different.
Have a good one, ‘holics.

WEll in H2H!
Top write up squire.
Plus, loving the pic. 🙂
Cheers Ollie.
Fourth ! Success !
Believe! I do.
Greedy, H2H. 🙁
pint*number of people = many pints, clever! 😉
I cannot bring myself to post my usual “Well said, Guvnor”. Had you stopped after the first two thirds or so of the article, then I think “Beautifully put ‘H.” would have been completely appropriate.
You appear to be trying to make some kind of a point in the latter part of the post, particularly the last couple of paragraphs. Would you mind spelling it out for me, before I get all worked up about a misinterpration? Many, many thanks.
Sorry Trev, but as I’d alredy qualified the 4thy spot goes to you.
Sp*rs missing out again. 🙂
A spirit lifting read, Guv. 😉
As was Tabs in the previous drinks.
Pangloss, as I said I am glossing over it because the time to worry about anything other than the neighbours is Monday.
This weekend is all about beating the team that haven’t won the title in 52 years. That’s 5-2, I repeat, 5-2.
Top notch, especially the bit about Auntie Ethel…
I’ve just about calmed down after hearing those two twonks Savage and Waddle on Radio 5. I kid you not, but Waddle reckons Sp*rs are Championship contenders and Savage reckons that they’ll be 6-points better than us come the end of the season!!!!
I’m still praying that there is some semblance of a plan — but dare I say it, I’m starting to lose just a little faith.
Side subject but if Liverpool are really spending £13m on Sakho as rumoured, it really doesn’t sound like a good deal, unless he gets a brain transplant.
Apologies; I miscounted. I am unclear precisely what is meant by the third to last paragraph, in particular the third sentance “Suffice it to say I thought we had the capacity to add someone better than Matthieu Flamini to the mix, but he brings a degree of versatility that will be welcome“.
Thanks again.
Too many 52s, ‘holic, you’d nearly think Bendtner would play(he won’t, he’s not even training yet)
Ah, caught out by a quick response. Thanks, Holic. I may return to this topic on Monday.
When the fixtures were released I was absolutely gutted. My family holiday is always the last 2 weeks of August. The fact the NLD has been scheduled so early in the season is a pain in the arse for me. The fact that Sky have deemed it necessary to move it to 4pm on Sunsay causes me major concerns. At that time I will be on a French motorway heading towards Calais. I will not be able to watch not tune into any radio station. I will record the game and will do my best to avoid the score until I get home.
Our strongest 11 should be good enough in my humble opinion. If we have to look deeper than that we may have issues. I hope those attending enjoy a great day. Anything less is just not worth contemplating at this stage.
Matt, I think Spu*s would do OK in the Championship indeed 😉
Steve, if you wanted you would be able to tune in.
Long (or is it Medium) Waves mate (909/693 or whatever t is these days), that’s how I used to be able to catch some games!
I’m told – I have the first-in-a-lifetime experience of working in an office with two other Arsenal supporters! – I haven’t read it myself, that Mark Lawrenson’s preview of the match on the BBC website is a classic of the genre, going something like:
“Some criterion or position: Sp*rs are definitely superior
“Some other position: Arsenal very much second best
“And so on…
“And so forth…
“Lawro’s Prediction: 2-1 Home win.”
Sigh.
Oldie: Ha ha — a Freudian slip or some such thing!
Great stuff ‘H. Spot on. See you all on Sunday.
Cheers Trev.
The next 48 hours is all about spanking the Totts and enjoying the after-match party. Nothing else matters until they have been put firmly in their place.
Cannons out!
heh Pangloss, classic Lawro indeed
Matt.
Lily Savage and Twattle have the combined IQ of a retarded potato, so we should be o.k.
Good luck holic!
Enjoy the derby’s mines are only memories!
I have returned to the bar after a little spat this morning. Having back drunk I think the quality of debate and loyalty is 300% better than any other blog of this type.nice preview as ever Holic .
I am taking my PA to the game this weekend. She accompanied me when we came back from 2-0 down a couple of years ago- a result considerably enhanced by a young lady in a flat by the tube station flashing her considerable assets at the delighted passers by. That was a pretty damn good day..
I hope for both of those events to reoccur on Sunday. Arsene has made a rod for his back by suggesting they have bought too many players at once. Far better to sign a young French lad, resign John Pratt and rehabilitate Adebayor. I jest but leaving aside any mention of anything else but the game I hope we can get Per and Theo to continue their goal streaks against them. But above all I hope that young lady is still willing to spread some joy amongst the tube queues
Off topic, sorry.
I know they wouldn’t let us have him, but watching the Super Cup, and Mata sits stuck on the bench is a crime against football.
Let him go Maureen you bi-atch.
‘Mourinho’ and ‘crime against football’ are neve far from each other, H2H 😉
TTG.
Beating the Tiny T*tts and getting an eyeful of Splendid T*ts.
A good day indeed. 😉
Heh ollie, indeed.
Pangloss,
Sorry for the late response but, as you said, there you go.
I’m not going to engage any further in the ‘how important is the crowd’ argument.
Anyone who goes to games or watches them on TV needs no convincing from me.
I do realise that I have just referenced, sort of, one of the things that you discount as an argument and would rather not have said in the bar.
It is clear that most things I say irritate you and, indeed, add to the number of things that you would rather not have said in the bar.
I hope those that know me would agree that I am not negative about the club I support but, in any event, I cannot be bothered to always justify myself in the light of your efforts to portray my comments as such.
So, here’s the thing. Just ignore them, because so long as I obey the house rules and don’t abuse people, I will take my cue from the Guvnor as to what I should or shouldn’t say in here.
In return, I will ignore your contributions and not respond to the pedantry in which you clearly delight.
Trev@32
Hmmm
Heh, ttg – that sounds like a boob tube station. 😉
Cheers Lord 😉
Oh no, have I put the fighting bitter back on? Off to the cellar again for a keg of the singing variety…
Following some tweets mentioning London is Red, I found a nice picture of a Red London on the web:
http://cdn1.bigcommerce.com/server800/d25d8/products/335/images/693/London_Red_low_res__59742.1284921438.1280.1280.JPG
Laughed when I saw the bit on the bottom line towards the right 😀
You wouldn’t like me when I’m singing.
I know, I know. You’re not mad keen on me when I’m not singing.
Night all.
Cheers Ollie. Is that likely to work??? I get bugger all where I am at the moment.
Not your fault, by any means, ‘h.
You run a fine establishment and the rules are crystal clear.
The summer that was supposed to unite has unfortunatly turned the cannons inwards, lines have been drawn and the factions have cleary stated their sides.
I apologies for flirting with the rules on the last drinks, but I thought the guy crossed the line by insulting a poster I have the greatest respect for (as I have for most here) who’s only “crime” was to state an opinion that didn’t fit in his, imho, narrow view of what it is to be a supporter.
None of what we want or think should happen should matter this weekend, the only thing that counts is that we send the wretched wannabes packing with their tails between their hoofs back up the rancid end of the Sevensisters Rd,
As was excelently said in the previous drinks;
We are the Arsenal and they are cunts.
Arsenal Bloody Arsenal.

Twice again?!?!?!??
It’s witchcraft I tells ya,
Some bleeding stammer you have there, H2H 😉
Agree with Tabs about Mata. He would be a huge asset for us.
I’m selling the van I was going to use to nick TGSTEL as he’s now our saviour but wonder if I should drop off any of our spare players before I do.Oh sorry we haven’t got any spare players. Its been a fractious day on here today.
Imagine what it will be like should we lose the NLD and not buy anyone
I see Terry is coming on for the presentation of the Super Cup
Heh ‘holic. 🙂
Ooooh, Trev@31, aren’t you the cheeky one.
Bwahahaha Chelsea!!!
HA HA, ze Germans equalise in the dying seconds of ET
LSG should trademark that line, H2H. Best selling line of T-shirts if ever I saw one.
We all want the best for Arsenal, polite discourse is one of the reasons I stay here, albeit in truncated form since I changed my nick from drapedindarkness to DepressedGooner.
No matter how depressed or dark I get my love of and for Arsenal is what motivates me to post and every season when things have fallen apart again I take my joy from keeping the spuds where they belong, in the dark.
Here’s hoping that at the end of this season we all get to enjoy this singularly one sided pleasure 😉
HAHHAHAHAHHHAHAHHAHAHHAA
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahhhhhhhhhhhhahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahhaha
Lukaku will be available for 50p tomorrow. 🙂
JT, take off your shin pads.
Magic. Now someone go poke Mourinho in the eye.
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2407399/Salomon-Kalou-talks-Arsenal-Nicklas-Bendtner-interests-Crystal-Palace.html
Apologies, delete Holic if you want but I thought this might be of interest. I know nothing else matters until 6pm Sunday but this can’t be true???????
I admit it was sometimes a struggle, Steve T, depending on the quality of the radio or your location or the weather, but should normally be OK towards the North of France.
Remember yesterday’s £40m German from the Twitter ITK?
Draxler.
http://twitter.com/suttonnick/status/373558075325554688/photo/1
Huh, this is a good sign.
Now, demolish the Spuds, sign those players we are after, and let’s fucking win something this year right under the Maureen’s nose.
Steve
Apparently we’ve been offered Kalou by his club. Don’t think the story goes beyond that.
Well I will be in my Ford Mondeo. Hopefully I will start to pick up something. Thanks for the tip Ollie.
N7. I sincerely hope you are right.
The mirror are also confirming we’re in for Draxler.
Report says Schalke want £60m, we’ll go to £40m.
They can fcuk off if they think they’re getting the extra pound.
N7, remember my guess yesterday after Ozil?
“I can think of couple more that fits the bill and are Arsene preferable, Draxler from Shalke and Gundogan.”
However, I don’t agree with this move, that is too much money for him, too risky. Ozil or Reus on other hand…
So, Chelsea lose on penalties after having been 2-1 up until the 121st minute?
Well, to quote Nelson of the Simpsons:
HA-HA!
Telegraph reports Draxler and Kaka. Interesting
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/arsenal/10277662/Julian-Draxler-and-Kaka-are-Arsene-Wengers-latest-targets-as-Arsenal-step-up-efforts-to-sign-new-players.html
Steve, the fact that the Daily Heil are running with that story should tell you it’s utter bollocks…
I like that quote, LArs! 😀
Bayern Mu-niked it. (That’s a freebee Red Tops)
—
Sorry gents, but I refuse to get excited about speculation, all that matters now is the NLD, we’ll see what happens (if anything) on Monday.
Heh the happy one has lost his smile fairly swiftly. Nice preview Guvna. i will take your prediction. Am stuck in freezing Caledonia this weekend due to a hospitalised mater so will not be joining the throng at TNHOF or at the Tollie. I do hope it’s a party for the boys in red. I need to find a Sports Bar in Ayr.
COYR
THMBD
Just to note Schalke bought Kevin Prince Boateng from Milan this morning. Looks a replacement.
£40m seems a lot of dough, but who knows what’s value in this market. If Arsene wants him that badly then fair enough – it’s his money to spend.
Main thing is it shows a bit of ambition and gets another player in. The kid is young but he’s very handy.
Well that was all hilarious. Not much better footballistically, than seeing Mourinho sick as a dog.
The start of a good weekend methinks. 🙂
Telegraph also seem to think we’re still working on Benzema. Looking for a striker and two midfielders.
I’m with you H2H, still ignoring it all.
Holic. Tabs not on their payroll anymore???????
Problem is that there is so much bollocks doing the rounds because everyone knows that we are without a paddle. Some would argue without a rudder as well for that matter.
Gonna miss the Tollie gathering on Sunday. Have one for me people.
Maureen really does epitomise cuntitude.
I’d just like to say that I wish I had a quid for every “ahahahahahahaaaa” I’ve seen on my twitter timeline this evening….
🙂
Twitter ITK scores again as it seems. Anyone can ignore whatever they want, the fella is in the know, for two years in a row.
@ 72
The question is, what constitutes “sports” in Ayr? Be afraid…. 😉
Sorry to hear about Mother Baff btw – hope all is ok.
Nice write up Holic, but an even nicer picture above. Which no-mark will have the glum face in Monday’s papers???
Freelance Steve 😉
Heh Zico. Probably more fun than ‘sports’ in Aberdeen. 🙂
Don’t tell Wolfie about free lances, tabs. 🙂
Free Lance???? I didn’t know he was banged up.
Heh Steve. He sure should be.
Quote from BBC Gossip: “Wenger has now said if Bendtner can prove his fitness, he could get chances in the first team”.
Like a new signing??? I’m lost for words. 🙁
Well not quite … If all we sign from here is Kalou I’m joining the Wenger OUT campaign.
Oskar
Bath . He would be if Wolfie had half a sniff.
😀
Bath/Steve Hehs 🙂 🙂
All this paper talk is not going to go away. My guess is that we will be the centre of attention for most of the back pages for the next few days at least.
The optimistic idealist in me tells me that we will bring in real quality that will make a big difference to our squad and to our season. The realist in me tells me that I need new undercrackers.
😀
Steve
New undercrackers on the bar for everyone – on Lars’ tab.
Hope your mum improves, bath.
And hope you find a Sports Bra in Ayr. 😉
Oskar. I think the key part of that is if he can prove his fitness. Bendtner has not been fit for 2 years. He is a lazy fuck who could have moved to more than a dozen clubs if he was not such a greedy wanker. Bags of potential, possibly the worst attitude of a professional footballer I have ever seen in an Arsenal shirt.
Completely share your 21at century schizoid man state of mind Steve.
Hope mater gets better soon, bath.
Ayr, Troon, Turnberry, Prestwick. God’s golfing country.
Bath. Apologies, just back drunk properly. Thoughts and Best wishes from all the T’s.
Thanks Trev ….. And Zico earlier. I’ll tell her she has supporters in the best bar on the web. That’ll test her orientation in space and time.
Do they actually have electricity in Ayr????
Couldn’t agree more, Steve. I just can’t resist the fantasy of him coming on late and scoring the winner on Sunday … an absurdist ending to an empty transfer window.
Oskar
And thanks to all the team.
It’s a far post floater…
Fuck me. I even missed with a fucking assist??????? Back to the vin rouge for me then.
😀
Bendtner has actually spent the last two years training with shaolin monks in a remote mountain hideaway.
He’s going to start on Sunday, score a hat trick, karate chop his way through a big block of ice and then headbutt each and every one of the LWCs new signings.
Can’t wait.
Great assist Oskar. Unintentional ton here as I had not noticed the numbers.
Super-tabsed it Steve.
ha. someone’s already updated draxler’s wikipedia page.
Just so long as we win and make a laughing stock of the £108m they’ve spent to match our free transfers.
Oskar
You’re welcome bath … completely oblivious here, but you’re welcome!
Oskar
Oskar, NB52 rising at the far post like an overweight, out of conditioned salmon to punch in the winner in the 4th minute of 2 minutes of added time.
That would make me chuckle.
Waste of nice countryside, digging holes and filling them with sand from the beach, sculpting flat bits and cutting motorway swathes through meadows. Never found time for hitting whitf balls with sticks, H.
so many people are saying that we’ve spent nothing in the transfer window, and that really is starting to irk me.
we’ve made money in the transfer window.
again.
N7, you think Bendtner has been training for the last two years???? I would struggle to believe that he has trained for the last two days…..
😀
He’s been training in the Fanish and Italian branches of the Tollie, Steve.
I suspect Bendtner’s attitude to ‘training’ is akin to my own … whenever I feel the urge to exercise I lie down until the feeling passes. 😉
Oskar
Bendtner’s training odyssey has mainly been mental and spiritual.
Here he is back from his most recent retreat: http://twitter.com/FFArsenal/status/367802574952361984/photo/1
Now THAT’s someone who knows how to get zen.
Well I’m pleased to hear it. I was starting to get worried.
In fact I belong to an organisation called Athletes Anonymous where, if the thought of exercise becomes overwhelming you ring another member who immediately comes round with a bottle of scotch to ease the pain.
Oskar
All the Best Bath. Sorry I missed it earlier.
N7 – It’s official. The Prince of Denmark is our Saviour!
Oscar, the only reason that I’m still smoking is because it stops me from jogging.
Heh @ Oskar. I hope it’s malt not blended and whisky not whiskey. Otherwise it can’t be as good for you. 🙂
Well in Bath.
And ofcourse, best wishes for ma.
Oops Baff – sorry to hear about your Mater – missed that earlier; apologies.
Best wished and all.
Cheers tabs. 92 and about to get back in the ring.
I think Nicky B has certainly been in spirits somewhere. How can you have a nose like that and underline it??????
Highland Park 18yo, Bath … Okay?
Oskar
Thanks H2H and snowy. She’s a fighter. Would have taken that chance in the Nou Camp that LJW set up and TGSTEL fluffed. Of course she was only 90 then.
Ha Ha Tabs.
I’d never pack it in because my family always told me that no one likes a quiter.
I don’t really smoke that much, I’ve pretty much got it under control, because I only really light up when I’m having a drin……….
Oh!
Zico –
From last bar, no worries mate and certainly you’ve nothing to make amends to me or the llamas.
Here’s to 52 reasons to celebrate on Sunday.
BMBD
That’s the Dogs Bollox Oscar. My recent favourite. You will be fit as a but hers dog with a regular 20 minutes at least three times per week.
No offence taken, tabs, but my dog’s name is Oskar not Oscar (as you always put) … he’s a Teutonic schnauzer and resents the Anglicisation … in fact he’s threatening to call you takeabowwowson in response. 🙂
Oskar
Heh Oscar. I’ve got a miniature Schnauzer.
Blame the iPhone for the ‘c’ there as I did type ‘k’. Our Teutonic bitch is likewise Teutonically named – Mitzi.
Okay Bath, I’ve figured out what a ‘but hers’ dog is (give the man a bone). I’ve been onto the Highland Park for a while and it slips down very smoothly. I’m still more of a cognac drinker, but my daughter and son-in-law travel a lot and keep giving me duty free whisky. So there’s all-sorts to chose from in the cellar.
Oskar
Missed the c off that one clearly. Damn iPhone.
They clearly have good taste choosing HP18. Best buy under £100 IMHO.
Bath@130. Wolfie will be so disappointed.
Bath. You’ve spent more than Arsenal……
Oskar is likewise a miniature, Bath, according to his papers anyway. According to his build he’s at least as big as the small end of the middle Schnauzer breed standard (if you can follow that!). He doesn’t seem to mind though. Lovely dog, one of the best I’ve ever had.
Oskar
Heh Bath..can’t you get enlargement pills nowadays ( I gets lots of emails telling me this 😉 ). Best wishes for the mater.
Buy a bottle of milk and you’ve spent more than Arsenal, Steve.
Oskar
Heh Steve and Ups and Oskar.
I think it’s legitimate for male minis to overlap with small standards.
Mitzi is small like her ma and dark grey as her Pa was a black and silver rather than pepper and salt.
Best wishes, Bath.
“I’ve got a miniature Schnauzer” and “male minis” – is this some sort of new code I haven’t been informed about ????
😉
All the best to your mum, Baff. Good genes those.
Any links to this Draxler wunderkind? I thought you guys were talking about Clyde-the-Glide…
I’ll get me coat.
BMBD
Snowy…I’m sure Wolfie will have the right answer for you. Anyways, Arsene has got a Great Dane he would like to pass onto anyone who’s willing to take him 😉
Doggone* nailed it there Uply @ 143 – 🙂
But sadly the Great Dane is still awaiting a new kennel…could bitch about that for hours, makes me pawsitively furious, it does.
Anyway, that’s e-ruff rubbish canine puns for now…
I wish I could be there for this one. Absolutely huge match. Hope everyone attending has a great night. 2-0 Arsenal
Oskar @129 – Haha, apologies mate, wouldn’t want to offend the little fella. Won’t happen again, promise 🙂
H2H @126 – Haha, that sounds pretty much my regime to a tee! 🙂
If Gazidis’ idea of exciting is to sign Sanogo, Flamini, Kalou and have Diaby and Bendtner as LANS, don’t let him anywhere the sherry at Xmas or he’ll completely lose his self control and go for the absolute earth shattering, knee trembling, utterly heart stopping thrill of swooping for Nigel Reo-Coker.
Tremendous ‘Holic. Enjoy Sunday and I’m sure the transfer fairy will be visiting the squad very soon and more than once too.
Bath, best wishes to your mum.
Chins-up boys and girls, it’s nearly 5pur2day 🙂
PS: I’ll resist the offer of free undercrackers and go commando all season.
PPS: HEH! @ Maureen & CFC.
Transfer fairy TS?
Oh goodie 😉
Snowy @141 🙂
I always fancied some Reo-Corker…hic!
BMBD
I might be in the minority, but I found Arsene’s presser on Friday quite entertaining. He seemed very relaxed, so hopefully that’s a good omen that come Monday evening we’ll all be happy as we celebrate our spanking new World Class signings and bask in victory over the “Cock on the Ball team”.
Let’s go Gunners!! Victory through Harmony! Let’s end this division among Arsenal fans and unite in our quest for greatness.
I read Wenger’s presser tone as meaning he’s all but lost all hope of top quality signings and will resist another midnight 2 September scramble for fear of being laughed at … ie, he’s going to hold the ‘we have sufficient quality in all positions, so last minute desperation measures aren’t necessary this year’ line.
I’ve decided to be eternally pessimistic in the hope AW will prove me wrong (that’s the logic of it anyway). Otherwise I shall be proved right, and that’s never all bad, aye.
Oskar
I hear William Gallas is out of contract, and Sol Campbell is probably still alive for that matter. But please don’t tell Ivan…
Oskar
Trust the spuds to have a cock and ball logo, Impec.
Oskar
Heh, Oskar. Indeed Sir.
AW can have me on a free transfer, I don’t eat much, I clean up after myself and I’d be happy to tend the lawn thus negating the need for a grounds keeper, which I’m sure costs a few bob.
Hey Oskar – been down under too long mate. you spell “Eh ‘ E.H.
The kiwi way (aye) is totally incorrect. A.y.e. spells “aye”, as in “aye, aye “Captain”.
And Arse End – When did you start cleaning up after yourself?
Morning all
Another top read Holic, and you set the tone just right.
We focus on seeing to the swamp dwellers and put the ‘transfer’ watch on hold till Monday, say 10:55pm for example.
I’ll be doing my level best to follow the game in some capacity but literally everything rests on when our new goonerette decides to, you know, bother making her entrance to the world. She’s currently later than an Arsene Wenger transfer bid.
I’m going for a jog wearing my new away shirt. Think I’ll keep my energy high by chanting “52 years” at the top of my lungs.
Can’t wait for Sunday.
Let’s batter those cunts and have them for dinner.
UTA
Nice one ‘holic
Eurgh, that would be a rather vile dinner, CoR 😉
Now now, IF, never question a writer. 😉
I wasn’t using aye as an interjection but as an adverb meaning always, continually, forever, perpetually etc etc. Old fashioned English these days I know, quite Gilbertian in fact, but it amuses me.
Derivation comes via Middle English from the Old Norse ei and Old English ā (both meaning always) … also the Latin aevum (age or lifetime) and the Greek aiōn (age).
Oskar the pedant
Christian fukcin Erikson?
Decent player and I feel bloody flattered that the potatos have gone through all of that trouble just to pay us a visit.
To be honest, he is the best player they have purchased during this transfer window. Thus, they should feel comfortable letting the monkey travel to Spain, now they have apeesed their fans.
As the boss said and I agree, their panic shop looks a little unbalanced and a little untimely. As I say, they are still a pack of spuds, no matter who they buy.
It will be interesting to see who we have lined up for Monday, as a couple of reinforcements will add a little more depth, to an already ( being the operative word), talented squad. Experience as a team is invaluable and as much as I admire AVB’s individualism, he has quickly shown his spudism, by panic buying to face the elite.
5-2 again for me ( ooh, pass the tea and crumpets Malcolm, the peasants are passing this way tmw)
Ergh!
Mr Rosso@159 – Ms. Goonerette-Rosso has proven obviously to be a natural gooner of the top order and has learnt well the art of timing from the work of the Master AW during the transfer window. Good luck.
Question for ‘holic regulars. Has everybody who wants to go tomorrow got a ticket? I may be able to help.
Porco – What Lloydie said @165. Good luck mate.
As stories continue emerging on Kaka, I will be pleased to have him in Arsenal. If the price is right of course. He is 31 now, that means year younger than Rosicky, not in his best form maybe, but he has undoubted football qualities, tons of experience and he is marketable. I for one wouldn’t mind to have Kaka in the back of my Arsenal shirt 🙂
Did Scoops get sorted, ‘holic?
Tufty, Ollie…
Let’s face it, it’s a good look …
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BS_RIJ6IIAA-Ky9.jpg
Heh @Wolfie, what did you put Jack into?
Best wishes, Porco.
Bendtner spends more time in Copenhagen clubs buying drinks all round and then pouring his over the nearest female to see if the club will throw him out. Then he complains that there’s always someone trying to make a name for himself by picking a fight.
Brain dead, as both AW and Morten Olsen (soon to be former Danish team manager – probably after the interpause) have realised. They’ve both given up on him. I expect his dad has too.
One year left on his contract and then he has no income. I guess one of the Danish clubs may be willing to take a chance on him – can’t imagine anyone else will.
Cent – I believe it’s Jack as dressed by my friend Lady Gaga.
Wolfie, oh, that explains a lot.
Cheers for the wishes all! 😀
She will, of course, be like a new signing!
My two grandsons are 4 and 5. The eldest as I have lamented before has joined his Dad on the Darkside whilst my daughter has claimed the soul of the younger for us so to continue a tradition of Arsensl support in my family that goes back to Woolwich.
Tomorrow is a difficult day though as each team commandeers a settee and inevitably the boys will come to blows sooner rather than later. Our only hope of converting the errant youngster is that he prefers his brother’s Junior Gunners pack….and his favourite player is Gareth Bale .
I think we need to pray for a conversion tomorrow. 5 is very young to be doomed to a life of misery
Time to get tough Ttg.
Tell him he’ll have to go and live next door if he doesn’t convert sharpish 😉
August 31st 2013. 13.25hrs.
Have we bought anyone yet???!?!!
TTG. Really simple. Ban them both from the house…..
Best wishes Porco.
==
I think it is a bit of a shame that we didn’t even make an inquiry about Erikson, especialy with so many ex gunners runing the roost at the ArenA, but he’s gone to the scumbuckets now, so fuck him.
Mazel Tov, Porco and Mrs. Rosso.
Oskar, you make a good pedant.
What do we think of Totnum?
BMBD
Thanks for your good wishes chaps.
I shall be at the game but their mother will keep me updated on the confrontation.Imagine when they are 17 and 18 and I am an old git sitting in the corner talking about the great summer transfer window of 2013.
Its tough to exile your grandson but really…..a Spud!
Good Luck Porco with the birth. Exposing her to the game tomorrow and if that fails Jim White on Monday night should do the trick.
I am trying to predict Wenger’s programme notes tomorrow.
“As you know the transfer window closes tomorrow evening and I will be pleased that we can then get on with playing football. We are only prepared to sign top quality which will improve our team but this is getting increasingly difficult. We will be working flat out until the window closes but we will not buy just for the sake of it” Bet that’s almost verbatim what he says.
Salomon Kalou will be ours ,what bliss
Any signings in this next 2 days will proberly be next seasons loanee`s
Dont panic !
Yes Panic !
Dont Panic !
Kalou, ooo yes the dizzy heights oooo please stop it !
This summer has left me almost flatterned by our ability to completely fuck everything up. What should have been a close season to raise hopes and bring the fanbase together, or as together as could be hoped, for a decade and yet its gotten worse.
The manager has to be held accountable and that for me is the hardest thing to say out loud (so to speak!) as I have had to defend him against my Gooner mates and family members who lost all faith in him about 3 years ago. I on the other hand kept coming back against their claims that he is a stubborn, deluded old control freak by pointing out what an amazing job he has continued to do with his hands tied behind his back due to the huge debts and just you wait till he finally can spend some serious cash, you’ll see he’s still got it.
Well, unless IG talk about our spending ability is bollocks, then the evidence seems pretty clear.
Wenger IS a stubborn old control freak who would rather sign NO ONE that pay one pound over his own warped victorian dad valuations on players. He has convinced himself he doesnt need a new keeper and that Sagna’s versatility means we dont need a new CB. By Monday night he will have told himself that Park is better than Higuain so no need to sign a striker either.
No wonder he looked relaxed yesterday, he knows we arent going to sign anyone.
We will win tomorrow, but beating that lot is only 3 points and we should be about alot more than worrying about doing those fuckers.
What should have been a really exciting season is (almost) dead before it has even started for me.
This summer has really turned things dark for me and I really dont care if Wenger gets the boot any more.
Really sorry for the bleak rant, this really isnt me…

You are easily impressed.
A fair few dodgy over priced signings and NO Bale. Like I said, Arsenal will win tomorrow.
You cant exepct favourable pen decsions every week.
Ha! Thanks Larry!
Dont worry, I am happy as, erm Larry in every other aspect of life! Its only football and on line, in black and white it has a load more impact and looks a lot bleaker than chit chat down the pub! 🙂
@185
PLEASE let that be the starting line up.
AVB can introduce them all in the car park before the game. Maybe they can try to turn up half an hour early to learn each other’s names or something.
CSWY @185,
WWHHHOOOOOOOO ???
@185,
Oh, and make sure NONE of you leave before the end. 😉
“Can’t smile without you”
How very apt. No matter how bleak things might look, it is utterly impossible not to raise a smile (nay a belly laugh) whenever Tottenham come to town. Deluded bellends.

You do realize you’ll be in our shadow for eva’? Just be ready for an early St. Totteringham’s Day celebration this year you muppet.
BMBD
(Totteringham is already a shambles so no need to call for its destruction)
When you see the LWCs XI written down like that it’s actually quite reassuring.
185
Good to see you reading intelligent blogs.
I guess its so hard to find people who can read and write who support your club.
Will you recognise “your team” when(if) they turn up?
ps.how many seasons is it since you finished above us?
Their only decent player is Townsend – and he’s a Gooner !
Come on guys, don’t make fun of the less privileged.
Trev, I reckon if he ever improves to a decent level, we will get him on a free just like we did Sol.
Assist…
Goal.
Just by way of a change I’d like to see Flamini start tomorrow, give a few Spuds a good kicking, and then we can bring Jack on when they’ve quietened down a bit.
Can’t expect the ref to give him any protection, after all.
*runs to celebrate-

He will do it three times tomorrow.
Shot, Cent !
Trev, my thoughts exactly.
Trev, my thoughts exactly!
Trev @203, Cheers mate. My 204 was in response to your 201.
Well in Cent.
Trev – Agree. Unleash the Flamster.
Tabs,
While hoping and praying to anything anyone can hope and pray to, that Flamini is not our only incoming, if he stays fit I think he could turn into quite the cult hero this season.
He has something we have been lacking – that is, a bit of bite. And he only does it with his feet. 😉
I was quite disappointed with our transfer business.
In my country, shrewd housewives go to the fish market as early as possible because all the best catch are still thee, even the command a highee price.
Only the old ladies with limited means go there in the evening , hoping to buy some inferior ones with knocked down prices. Because the fish mongers do want these fish got rotten anyway.
Arsene is the OLD LADY.
If 5-2 tomorrow, then Wenger will just get KAKA for 8 mil. Nobody Else.
If 2-5 ….he will just splash the cash to buy 6 players like 2011. Then some of them turn out to be Santoses, Parks, Squalacis.
I am just infuriated .
COYR….beat the spuds !!!!!
Finally caught up Backdrinking, NLD tomorrow, Tollie Time Pre & Post Match, let’s mash some Spuds! 8)
Cheers, TaBS.
Good stuff, Wind.
Trev, heh @ “…a bit of bite. And he only does it with is feet.”
You sorted for a ticket, Wind?
Trev,
Like you say, if he’s the only incoming then of course its a massive disappointment/catastrophe.
But taken of itself, I think it’s a no-brainer. Good player, on a free, will add bite as you say 🙂 and will provide cover in a number of positions. I read somewhere, forget where, that he had a good year last Season at Milan, so I definitely think he’ll do a job.
Let’s hope to the Heavens that they sprinkle the stardust as well in the next 48 hours.
Concern over Flamini has to be that his good years tend to be in the final year of his contract. Still think it’s a good deal though – gives us some bite, covers multiple positions.
Focus on world class players is understandable, but what we really need first and foremost it to build the squad out – first XI has good balance and are gelling together.
Interesting comments from Pardew just now. Asked if Cabaye (booed by his own fans when subbed on) is staying he basically said that his having played today doesn’t mean he’s staying and the window is open to 11pm Monday.
He’s gone then – but to whom ?
I am indeed Holic @ 212, thank you for the kind thought & consideration good sir 🙂
Suspect Newcastle want to sell but want more cash off us.
My guess is Cabaye will sign at 11pm on Monday.
Tottenham probably Trev 🙂
Suspect that he’ll arrive unless we manage to hook a bigger fish.
For the money the deluded Toon want for their player, we might as well go for Fellaini. Him and Arteta are top mates.
Its a no-brainer Arsene!
Sky have cut Demba Ba to Arsenal transfer from 12/1 to 4/1.
Lurky, Sky would cut their own heads off if they thought it would make a few bob so I wouldn’t read too much into that.
@221
My top 3 beheadings:
Carragher, Redknapp and Big-Nose (Thompson).

Nothing wrong with beheadings using a rusty spoon, Ollie
Tottenham. The only place on earth that after 5 days of riots actually looked better….
Just saying like.
Zico
Sound choice but Adrian Durham must be first!
Zico,
Which Redknapp, or can we BOGOF (Behead One, Guillotine One Free). 😉
Lars referred to Sky cuttinthg their own heads off… so I was kind of thinking Redknapp junior but you guys make a compelling argument for extending the list –
keeping with Scousers though I’ll raise you a lard-arse Micky Quinn…..
Heh, just realised I used the you guys phrase…….
If I was a real twat I would now also say my bad
If things were different at present Holic, I would bite your hand off for one of those spud killers.
Definitely going to keep my eyes and ears open for the next opportunity though. 😉
Me and Jr GT will be repping from the arm chair tomorrow.
Here’s one for you all though. A spud at work was giving it the talk behind my back talk about the game tomorrow. I then held a conversation with a Man U colleague (who don’t seem too bad these days, especially since we lent them our Robin – pronounced Arjen Robben, depending upon how you say it), about the recent champions league draw, a conversation which intentionally excluded the spud. I then turned to the spud and said ‘so will you be making your way down to the Ems on Sunday then?’ to which he replied ‘the Ems?’. I said ‘yeah, you know for the derby’, to which he replied ‘Oh? it’s at the Lane, I think? to which I replied, ‘you think?’
Yeah I know. All work colleague spud stories I tell are based on real actual life events.
Seriously!
Goodnight, folks, see some of you tomorrow, for tense but hopefully ultimately blissful moments.
Midday Ollie 😉
He is a bad influence, you know…

OK, I have regained some faith…. Found some I lost after the Carling Cup final behind the sofa…. We can still make some quality signings…. I am guessing 4 new faces….. no bodies, just heads, on sticks, but welcome nonetheless…
Wenger is still the man, he is, and no I aint panicking either…. Its all good, nothing to see here, move along now please…. All is well… Thats right, remember to breath….
Watch this and allow Hitler remind you how sh*t Sp*r are http://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=related&v=AOxINqEJIdQ
Night all. For those going tomorrow be loud and supportive.
Enjoy.
Funny how a team that was not going to panic buy only has that as an option! Actually its not funny but you know what I mean.
The taxi to the airport arrives in about five hours. I guess I should be in bed, but what the hell. I am experiencing a mixture of joy at the thought of returning to my beloved Crete again tomorrow and of course pre-derby jitters. I do of course want us to knock the stuffing out of them but am under no illusions that they shall make it easy for us and if we do win I expect it to be very hard-fought. In any case we have 48 potentially very pivotal hours ahead of us and I must say I am looking forward to the window closing so we can at least have a few days respite from the otherwise relentless speculation. Let us just hope we can bring in a few good players before it’s too late.
Right, time to do the last bit of packing and then off to bed.
Bon Voyage Lars.
And for all those going to the game, have a great day out.
And a happy Tollie-day to all who sail in her before and after.

Beat The Shit tomorrow, quiet Monday.
Lose and we’ll have Dale Winton outside the Emirates shouting encouragement to Dick Law as he scuttles about doing business. “Oooh, he’s got the keeper and he’s got the winger, but he’s dashing for the striker… You need the striker for the bonus item centre back, love and the clock is ticking… he can’t find the striker!”
“Oh, bad luck.. come here, Dick. Come over here, darling.. you didn’t get the striker, look… he’s over here, Dick, in Naples. I know… you went right by him, love! Twice!”
Stir crazy, me.
Can’t find sleep, anyone else feeling too pumped up to sleep?
Heh @Cynic.
The thought of Dale Winton calling for Dick is enough to keep anyone awake.
So long as we beat the Totts tomorrow it will be all good.
How do you all manage to bang out such interesting conversation. I’m so tired (three thirtneen hour nite shifts in a row, for me) But, I’ve been keeping up with the drinks. Priorities 😉 Afraid I’m with Lars, have an uneasy feeling about this one 🙁 So my expectations are truly managed. Just hope our fans are as loud as Celtic’s, they’re something else 😉
Hi Nursie, you’ve been missed.
Hey Cent, just took my dog out. Sigh. Did manage to watch 3 games today, and then took a nap. Palace fans, very vocal too 🙂
Nursie, I’m trust our fans to produce a better atmosphere tomorrow, our hatred for them always unites us.
*…I trust…*
Lars – Crete eh?
Cheers!
Am just back from the north fork of long island. (Think Hamptons, just lfewer douchebags.). Greece sounds absolutely fabulous tho.
Back to the football.
Shift of power in North London…? Who the fuck says that- the idiot journos? Total BS.
Gimme 3-2 to the good guys. Feo – thats my main man Walcot – with a brace. And Rosicky will bag one.
Im watching with a good mate who happens to hale from Spurs land.
God – i cannot wait to rub his nose in it!
And can i just say: Yes yes – spurs are such a “power” that red headed step child AVB has only replaced their ENTIRE squad with sell-swords.
Are you kidding me??? Bring that shyte on.
Cheers to all in the bar. Now where the hell is my bottle of Jameson??
And so theres no mistaking me: i grew up with hair redder than ronald mcdonald. Ive enjoyed nick names like “red” and “fire head” my entire life. Im still covered tip to toe in freckles – and im damn near 50!
All good tho – looks surprisingly good with tattoos.
So No offence to those of a soft constitution.
Night all.
Still can’t find sleep, too much adrenaline pumped up already, only Arsenal can make me feel this way.
Great stuff as ever ‘Holic.
As you quite rightly point out, we DO have a much better first XI than most, even with two top class players ruled out in iPod and MA8. You are also right that the shite from down the road are clearly failing to find any real scoring rhythm with all their newbies.
Still, I came here absolutely cacking myself about tomorrow. Not sure what worried me most, losing to the c**ts or losing another league match so early on in the season. The mood really is so finely balanced.
But all that changed on reading your write-up. Now that I know we can count on Ethel, well, fuck it, 5-0 is a minimum!!! 😉
Still hoping that Wenger and Co actually have a plan. Still hoping they bring in the players required to see us, finally, where we belong, challenging for trophies.
But when all is said and done, a decent win over the LWC will go a long way to appeasing the masses whilst, surely, helping to show the super dooper pooper scooper players that AW has in his sights that AFC is the place to be.
COME ON YOU GOOOOONNNNEEERRRRRSSSSSS!
Morning all.
Looking forward to a day at the Ashburton Grove poultry farm. Some chickens are up for the slaughter.
Slept like a baby. Just finished breakfast, soon to take a walk out for some coffee and cigars. As for the game later, confident as ever, it’s winnable.
Mr ‘H, love the optimism and looking forward to seeing top top quality Auntie Ethel’s maiden appearance for the mighty red and white. As for the goal(s) – icing on the cake. Enjoy the day all.
Um should have been “as for HER goal(s)”
Good Morning “Holic – I trust you are well rested.
Lets hope we have turned their cockeral into chicken soup before the day is out.
Just purchased my ticket for the Norwich game-yahoo!
I fly into Blighty on the 5th October from here in Auckland. Despise England- love Arsenal!

I’m actualy not that nervous for this one. The T*tts stand out player is not available, yes they’ve brought in reinforcements, a few of them I know to be quiet decent, but until now they are a group of individuals, we are a team and a pretty good one at that. I think that should be enough to tip the scales in our favour.

What to do for the next 4 and a bit hours…… 😉
Dr Z, drink Guinness?
Tend to agree H2H. I’d be pretty surprised if they could bring in half a new team who can just gel like that after 2 games, and the evidence thus far is that they’re NOT gelling yet – no goals from open play…
Hey Holic’s — off topic — anybody in here into music? Try this bloke…..
https://www.facebook.com/pages/Perrysongs-Music-Publishing/235741403180443
I think he’s friggin’ awesome………….
Just played Us vs The Swamp Dwellers on FIFA 13.
They scored first, we equalised, Walcott grabs the winner on the 90.
Let’s have exactly the same in the real thing please!
Not watched Real Madrid play today but Ozil was not in the team and as far as I know has not been used from the bench. I wonder…
Cynic, something is cooking there…
However if Ozil doesn’t want to come, I would not mind if we bid for Kagawa. He was on our list last year, Arsene likes him, he doesn’t start today for United even though Rooney is injured.
Anyway, either Almunia changed his name to Viviano in the meantime, or has a twin we didn’t know about it.
http://twicsy.com/i/f4FWQb
New goalie on loan from Palermo -Viviano-having medical today.
6 caps for Italy and hoping to challenge Buffon for the jersey. Decent credentials. Let’s hope it spurs Woj on. In every sense!!
Come on you Gunners!!!! All the transfer shizzle can hang fire till 5 to 6!!!
We love you Arsenal we dooooooooooooooo……..
Taping the match as BLG has footie practice this morning just before first-kick.
Fair winds to all ye travelers. 5 – 2 to the good guys with Theo kicking things off.
Come on you Reds!

Interesting…
“Very very close to a “Top Top Quality” German International that you will be delighted with.”
If it is Ozil or Reus…. and if we win today, I will celebrate this day like a national holiday for the next 10 years.
After some rational consideration I concluded it is Ozil. It is good to speak to yourself in this bar and find your answer anyway. Confirmation that this is zen bar indeed.
With our truth stranger than fiction summer, I’m with Lonestar thinking 5-2, and normal service restored!
COYBG!
Szczesny, Jenkinson, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Gibbs, Ramsey, Wilshere, Rosicky, Cazorla, Walcott, Giroud
Sagna on the bench, hmmm.
Jenkinson ahead of Sagna is a surprise.
More like a shock.
Sagna is ill
As in unwell, or in a Beastie Boys stylee? 😉
He’s on the bench so he’s not exactly dying. If he is ill he shouldn’t be in the squad at all, because he might have to come on very early. Is the squad so thin we’re having to put people with the lurgi on the bench?
Well done Liverpool. Fully deserved.
United, half a team without Rooney.
Beat the Spuds and we are in front of them and United on the table.
I’m super duper tensed mahn!
Just dropping in to say fuck the pond dwellers, COYG and see you on the other side!
Get stuck in lads.
Man U were poo, L’poo not much better.
Moyes is no Fergie.
Podolski, Chamberlain, Diaby, Arteta and Vermaelen.
This could have been our bench today.
Lurky, would be nice for us to have that in mind while screaming for new signings?
Be kinda of fun if there was a button to record each of us cheering, then ‘Holic good mix the soundtrack, and we could listen to it, like whenever during the game 😉 Hi everyone 🙂
I guess midfielders will decide the game today.
Think that Capoue will be breathing in Rosicky’s neck for 90 minutes. Huge game for Jack and Ramsey as they will need to find a way to exploit the space Rosicky will open for them, but to choose their attacks carefully bearing in mind defensive responsibilities in picking up runners from behind as Paulinho is.
Come on you gunners. This one is winnable.
I was going to have a shower before the game, but as I’ll be sweating like hell and may even lose control of my bowels some time in the next two hours, I’ll wait until the end…
Capoue is a player we should have signed IMO. He is a monster.

Good start for us!
great strike caz, well saved.

Ohhh, that was close, great shot by Santi.
Hi holics have we scored yet Caz is trying
Had it and missed. Ugh.

very nice touch on that finish. OG!!!!
GIROOOOOOOOOOOOOOUUUD
fucking brilliant finish, that one.
Super save by Woj!
damn, aaron up and over. wonderful passing.
Nice stop Woj..
Nice move, shoulda done better AR.
Giving the ball away too cheaply.
Lucky Sp*rs are fucking shit.
Jack off?
wtf jack?
What happened with Jack 🙁 Matthieu on, good luck to him!
Jack looking like he is having some issue ..
welcome home, mathieu.
lively half! worried re jack, and love our attacking movement.
Good first half there are more goals in it for us
It should end 2-0
I hope Jack is alright. Come on Flamini, keep it simple and position yourself well, please. Breathless first half, the team looked like they are giving it their all. What a joy to see.
COYG.
Good first half, slow start, good goal..apart from Townsends shots we did not let Spurs too much in to game. We need to stop giving the ball away so cheaply though …they might punish us for it sooner or later.
There’s absolutely nothing to their game – just a bunch of static big boys passing the ball around, with no end product. They are completely lost there. I predict 3-0.
Good game so far, we need to stop giving the ball away cheaply. Let’s finish them off in the 2nd half.
biggest groan (besides jack) is fucking david bleat on the commentary. but he changed his cock knob worship once the goal went in (reminds me of that keane penno miss a few years back 😉
Jack out of internationals would be good for us let him rest.
We are the Arsenal and they are cunts!
With Flamini in I reckon our midfield will be less fluid in their movement. Jack, Santi, Rosicky and Ramsey were interchanging seemlessly in the first half. But without Jack our midfield will be reluctant to take those positional risks. I just hope Flamini can offer our defenders a passing option in that pivot role – even better if Ramsey can drop deeper a little and help out.
Having said that, we are definitely capable of punishing Tottenham fast on the break. Come on!
Found Sportsbar. Got to ‘Twa Dugs’, ordered pint of Guinness, sat down, HFB scores. Now on second pint. 2-0 please. And stop giving them the ball in MF please. COYRs
When is Arteta due back 😉
H2H knows
He probably doesn’t know when Arteta is due back though. He knows in 349.
Ok I-Bath. Seems Bac’s bug is contagious, Jack just feeling ill (NO INJURY!) Whew!

Our Welsh player is having quite a game. Me being a very generous person, would like to offer some advice to the Tiny Totts – get a Welsh player of your own, they are adorable!
did he just say the tots have dominated? wtf
BAC!!!
that’s bleat for ya, pa.
Fuck off with your 5mins ET
I love how we are saying we don’t have any defensive players fit, yet manage to end the game with two left backs, two right backs, and two central defenders.
good play theo. deserved one today.
fascinating.
Heart pounding action, jeezzz! C’mon Arsenal!
though avb was giong to take the throw!!

Great win. And the team really worked for it. Really fighting performance from everyone.
Now get the fuck out outta the grove and take your waste if money squad with ya!
Mugs!
arsenal: successful cockblockers.
100 mill and no goals from open play. HAHAHA
A hundred million and they’re still shit.
Not the nicest football we have played, but my oh my …this victory was beautiful, such a fighting spirit. Love it ..this is going to be Aarons year, you heard it here first.
100mil, 54% possession and 0 goals make much good values and all we have is 3 points
I just want to cry for them tee hee
As well let us not forget Sir David Frost a lifetime. Goonerr who died today RIP
Ramsey MOTM
great goal, h2h 😉
Did someone say that football was no longer tribal in a recent blog?
Not tribal my arse
Yessssss!! Aaron really personified the heart of this current squad. Magnificent! And how good was Per and Koscielny? How about OG scoring a vital matchwinner? What a game! What a team performance. Rosicky played like he’s 27, getting younger by the day!
Never in any doubt.
Alright, just a little of the doubt 😉
All available defender on for the last few minutes was awe-inspiring!
Maybe they should’ve a battering ram with the Bale money!
Every player ran their lungs out and cramped themselves to shit for that result so enjoy it!!!!
Fuck off you Sp*rs!
HUUUUGE lag on the stream so had to keep out of the bar…
Simply put:
Fuck ugly performance, more knocks, no real signings yet and AW has a LOT to do over the next 24 hours…
BUT…
WHAT A FUCKING CRACKING RESULT!!!!
With £100m of shit on the pitch from the spuds the grass will be greener than ever next time out!!!
GET IN THERE YOU GOOOONERRRRSSS!
Na Na Na Na na na nah Na na na nah Giroud!
totally, bmg. he was everywhere, all the time.
And H2H best goal ever scored on the drinks. Bar none.
1 nil to the Arsenal.
We were really sloppy with our passing today, but I will take that scoreline every day of the week.
All I can say is that if you want living proof of why spending money is not the answer to every problem, have a look at that clueless lot today.
And for good measure, when was the last time we were ahead of Man Utd?
Time for more beer. 8)
I don’t think it’s an ugly performance by any means. Only Lloris’ great reading of the game kept us from scoring more, whereas our fluency was lulled somewhat when Jack came on.
Still, we competed well in midfield, defended tooth and nail, and made the expensive Spurs team looked crap and desperate. In the second half Ramsey did a job worthy of two men. Fantastic performance.
*when Jack came off. Apologies.
wonder if cunt@185 will now complain about them not spending enough money.
Get in! Fuck the fuckety fuckery fuckers and whoever fucks with them! We are The Arsenal and they are the cunts!
Well in H2H. what a strike!
Zico knows.
Cheers scruz.
And Esso, I’m printing that one out and hanging it on the wall mate. 😉

always enjoyed a good chicken roasting
Flamini shouting and telling people what to do. Finally someone raise their voice and take command over the defence. Had my doubts, but he looked really good.
That’s what am talking about!!!!!!!!!
Magic. Absolutely magic. They might win the transfer market, but we won the NLD.
14 heroes out there today. Respect, best team performance I’ve seen in ages – desire, bravery, commitment, drive. All the stuff we’ve asked for for years. The best that they could be? I think so today.
You could see they were gassed second half, but they stuck together and hung tough. I hope that we, the support, can now do so in the hours, weeks and months ahead.
The LWCs – utterly pony. Money can’t buy class.
North London is red. COYG. FOYS.
Na Na Na Na na na nah Na na na nah Giroud!!
N7 knows.
Spurs in crisis!
NBC Sports Live Extra streaming was sloowww from the hotel room and missed much of first half as it was crashing. Got better in the second half.
A very gritty performance in the second half, reminiscent of some of the results eked out towards the end of the last season. Also towards the end the team was a bit nervous as otherwise some of those counter-attacks would have been more fruitful.
Great performances by everyone. Giroud was excellent. Per-Kos were very dominating. Aaron and Theo maintained their very good form, again a bit nervy at times, same with TR7 and Santi.
Let us build on this. Please.
Arsene with that smirk of his regarding transfers in post match interview …I dont know ..but I sense something big happening..
Kudos to Flamini as well.
Slotted in and did well
I think i just cracked my shorts!
You beauties! Amazing work, all that spunking of cash and they’re still shit!
Eandy @ 437: If Arsene & co. can pull of 2-3 good-to-great signings with at least one world class at this time after this result and the evident team spirit, the feelings around the club (among the supporters, rest can go fuck themselves) will turn very positive.
The team did Arsene and us proud today.
A game of perception eh?:
AVB: “For them to finish with four full-backs says much about our domination.”
Wenger: “Their goalkeeper was their best player which shows you the chances we had.”
My answer to AVB would rather be to say that it shows our lack of options on the bench, and that our full-backs are rather adept getting involved in attacking play, as Gibbs showed the other day. How many goals have you gotten from open play, again?
And again, Wenger with the humour:
“When asked on the business he’ll be doing between now and 2300 BST tomorrow, Wenger said he expects to be busy, so could the interview be cut short.”
Oh and Giroud’s goal? Quality little flick, slow Lloris didn’t know what had hit him!
An enjoyable interlull coming up on the back off a NLD win. Hopefully we can add to it the joy of a shiny new signing to gloat about for two weeks. Come on Arsene, do it!
Great drink Toby.
For all spuds “domination” they never really created quality chances.
And Wenger is spot on there.
Derrick, quite agree with you, wasn’t an ugly win. Too much adrenaline with some of our passing, but by god we pulled out all the stops. Hugo was quite impressive and should be proud of his efforts. Spurs gave us a real go in the 2nd half. It’s their finishing that needs working. If we call them totally crap, that somewhat dimishes what we accomplished today.
Wooooooooooooooooo Hoooooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!!
Toby @ 442: Given the delusion of grandeur that AVB has shown himself to suffer from (‘spiral of negativity’, eh? ) he is a good fit for that deluded bunch.
What a Sunday.
Spurs lose
Spurs lose Bale
🙂
Aaamen.
Aaaaamen.
Aaaaamen – Aaaaaa- a a a a a – aaamen.
Order is restored. The league looks to be up for grabs, and 1 – nil to the Arsenal rings throughout the land.
Well, done. Arsenal, bloody Arsenal.
Fuck off Spurs! Mind the bloody gap.
BMBD
Abb, I think when Jack played in the first half we were passing the ball really well, and all our midfielders including Santi were exchanging positions seamlessly. When Jack came off the midfield had to adjust to playing with Flamini, which contributed to some of the wayward passes.
Having said that, Flamini defended really well, and looking at him shouting at our defenders was quite the sight to behold.
I also think our chances were much better than what Spurs had. Monreal even missed a simple tap in. Giroud’s shoulder block on Soldado’s shot and the deflected shot that Woj saved were the only clear cut chances that lot had. Our defenders looked very assured against their players. Only Townsend gave Gibbs a real game, and he stood up to it like a winner.
Well, what?!?!!
AVB confirms Bale is Madrid player.
Where the hell did that came from???
an’t wait to see how those wasteofcoushspace dickheads on MOTD try to spin this one.
This is fromArsenal.com
Wenger: “I am ready to pay what we can afford, even if it over the market [value]
*Can’t.
Sorry I’m a bit drunk……
Well a bit more then usual, 😎
‘Holic.
None of us, and by that I mean the decent posters, will be in the least upset if there is no match report tonight.
Enjoy the Tollie sir, with all the other great ‘holics.
Got to love putting it up them cunts ! AVB the reason we ended with 4 fullbacks on the pitch had fuck all to do with your domination my old china, Got to love this group of players fuck me they try hard, And seem to have a great togetherness which gets them through, Now to add the help thats so badly needed and watching Wengers interview it seems some are on their way 🙂
Up The Arse!
Derrick @ 452: Agreed. On the second half they lost a bit of composure — Giroud and Santi both were off by a feet or so on the release ball to Theo that on most other times would have led to a typical Theo goal — in attacking as the focus became on holding on to the lead, but the general inventiveness and passing accuracy was still much better from our boys. LWCs really didn’t have any organization, they have some quality players with nice touches — Lamela I think would impress over the course — but no organizational coherence yet.
Sagna was ill.
LJW taken off, ill.
The dispicables poisened our lasanga and still lost.
Who’s sick now you cunts? 😆
So that’s four wins on a trot then, 9-1 in goal difference over those four games, and those matches have been in four fixtures that traditionally are hard games, Fenerbahce x 2, Fulham away, and Spurs.
Still a lot to do to strengthen, and, as I’ve said all summer, quite sure we will (still not sure why we didn’t do it earlier, would have been a plus), but that crisis that were the talk of the town a few weeks back? Not having it.
I really hope that German player is Özil. For me one of the most underrated players that is still considered to be very very very good. Not trying to say that I see something others don’t see, but he really is one of the most important players in RM and provides three assists in about four games.
Le’ Sagna came on to finish the job and brush off his Lasagna woes. What a man.
Was nice to see the Flamster getting stuck in and orgainising those around him looked like the good old days,Big props also to the centrehalves thought both were superb
BTW, whoever comes in the next day or so, hope ALL supporters will show patience with him and Arsene over the move and not throw tantrums just because it is not necessarily a ‘big’ name. Last year around this time many in the fanbase was foaming at rage about Giroud. Many of us had said at that time that he will come good sooner than later and he did.
He had a few good performances last year and started this year well, but he had a nearly perfect game today, in attack as well as in defense.
Agreed Toby, Özil would be a fantastic signing and statement of intent since if he is not a world class player, I dont know who is.
I think Arsene wanted him badly when he was playing for Werder Bremen but then Real came in and you usually dont say no to that lot.
So Özil, CB and striker..if that is going to be the case, I will be more than happy with how this summer turned out.
Right behind you Dr. F. Right behind you. Alas, not in the Wolfie way.
Wise words Toby, I share the opinion that Ozil was the one of 3 most important players in Real Madrid. If we sign him I’ll forgive Arsene this summer ineptness.
In other news, Bale is official.
http://www.realmadrid.com/cs/Satellite/es/Actualidad_Primer_Equipo/1330158333625/noticia/Noticia/Bale,_nuevo_jugador_del_Real_Madrid.htm
Faustus,
I remember well the discussions at the start of the last season about Giroud and I still hold firm to my opinion that he is going to be our very own Drogba kind of striker who will terrorize center backs like he used to do.
He already shows it. His runs were great even last season, just lacked the composure and ruthlessness in finish. He has that now. As I said in my thoughts about players who I am excited about this season, I fully expect 20+ goals from HFB.
If you are standing, please sit fellas….
Canal+ say Mesut Ozil is off to England and will not be joining PSG.
Having that said about Özil, I really want to stress what I have already said a thousand times this summer, and also echo Dr. F’s words again, that for me, another Cazorla, another Mertesacker and another Giroud, skill- and passion-wise would be a great summer for me. I’d love Özil, of course I would, but my main concern still isn’t getting a big name, but rather getting more of the kind of players that stood up for us today, and played really neat and passionate football whilst doing it. And if we end up with a player without dots over the o, we really need to get behind him. As we have with Ramsey, as we have with Mert, as we have with Giroud. Did you lot see them out there today? Gems, my friends. Fucking gems.
Drink for you dear sir @470, would not have said it better.
As for Giroud, if only Walcott can work on his positioning when Giroud wins an aerial in opposition third, we could see even better stat numbers behind his name. Walcott must improve his part of the partnership.
Youd think having two Germans already in our starting line up might swing things in our favour ! Talking of which dont you just love the Mert – Loves absolutley loves winning football matches and seems to know what it means to the fans !
Loved the commentator’s remark. True. Its the points that count. Not the pounds.
We made a hundred mil loook lyk nothing! Posers!
Arsenal,bloody Arsenal.
Love this team.
Mind the gap, swamp dwellers.
BMBD
He buys when he wants!
Just back from a very happy Grove!
Firstly I have been a serious critic of Giroud but in the last two matches I have been to (Fulham and this one) he has done superbly. Today he was isolated by (apart from the assist) a piss poor performance from Theo and the fact that all the other (excellent) midfielders got sucked into the midfield battle but he occupied both Centre backs and took his goal brilliantly.
Also big congrats to the Flamster. Can’t think of a better guy to come into a game like that. He channelled Peter Storey today! Wonderful effort by the team. Although we dropped deep we were compact and determined and our two centre backs were immense.
We need someone to understudy Giroud. He’s immensely strong but we have no other striker. Even if its Torres I’d like someone of experience to come in. And Woj did well today.
I’m a very proud Gooner tonight!
Know I shouldn’t post things like this but…
http://www.click-sports.com/transfers/al-jazeera-arsenal-sign-mesut-ozil
Well said Ttg, but no Torres is finished, he might score a few goals now and then but he is finished. Kaput!
Well don’t then.
Haha, Esso, come on! On a high now after the win. Give a man a break.
Peoples that frequent this site are intelligent enough to understand that it is probably bullshit, right?
Hahahahha, Sir Chez just posted a video of him playing “oh when the wheels go falling off” on his Piano.
Here is a link to it http://video.ak.fbcdn.net/hvideo-ak-frc1/v/1095020_162893233913732_254003549_n.mp4?oh=a5c52dc54051069001ad95246921495e&oe=5225380D&__gda__=1378249453_ca3831dd754c2e2927e08d1d5d0d47b9
Chezzer. Thank you. Thank you.
What has intelligence has to do with it.
You may choose to stay calm, don’t speculate and pretend to be disinterested to the rumour stories, or you can choose to be honest about it, passionately follow all the rumours and in time learn to pick the right ones.
So, here is the latest one
“Özil is joining Arsenal, according to Cadena Ser who was the first to say Thiago is joining Bayern.”
No EPL team has won more points in 2013 than Arsenal. Wenger out! Our club is in crisis.
I tend to do neither, Lurky, I tend to be interested and not know what to believe. Or rather, I believe I do, but even if you follow just the right sources, that’s no guarantee. Remember Utd announcing our Ramsey a few years back? I just believe nothing and don’t read too much, but with 26 hours left, a win over Spurs and Bale just moving, I can’t not read anything, even if I don’t believe it at all.
*everything not anything
Thanks Toby.
Eandy, I also fully maintain that same claim. Player of the same type and mould and if things go well for him — fingers crossed injury wise etc. — he can be as successful.
Out at an event all day so missed match. Someone I know with one of they new-fangled smart phones told me the result at 6. One very happy metaphysico-theologo-cosmonigologist.
I really must remember not to listen to 606 while driving after an NLD. Nearly went into the ditch a couple of times. BBC co-host, presumably intended to provide some balance in the presence of Ian Wright: “Honestly, would you trade the ability to balance the books with the buzz you’re getting now afetr beating Totnum?” Even Wright didn’t have the heart to tell her that as Arsenal supporters, we don’t have to choose.
If you’re feeling bored, try to imagine the media reaction if Arsène went out and spent £100+m and then lost to a side that had only signed a couple of players on free transfers.
And finally, does anyone really believe that Arsenal couldn’t find half-a-dozen £15m players if we felt like it.
Sorry, and really finally, my spelling has gone out of the window. Is there an ‘F’ in “Power shift in North London”?

Just a few more hours of zen lads. Very nearly there. Well done to all those who kept their chakra in check this summer.
Absolutely buzzing. Can’t wait for highlights later – maybe Redknapp can talk
Just a few more hours of zen lads. Very nearly there. Well done to all those who kept their chakra in check this summer.
Absolutely buzzing. Can’t wait for highlights later – maybe Redknapp can talk us through them?
In fairness, we still haven’t played anyone decent, so hard to draw conclusions.
Agh – hit submit too soon again. Premature evaluation.
Point well made Pangloss.
It may be that if we do sign a couple of corkers that with the result today and Bale leaving the morale may lift significantly in N5.
Don’t like this brinkmanship but its starting to feel exciting.
Its interesting that today despite enormously heavy legs we had a great team spirit. BFG has proved a super captain and Flamini was tailor made for a muck and bullets game like that. That will be the challenge for the Swampies. Can they instil that desire and collective commitment from such a disparate group
Fcuk zen – I need to go tantric.
@472 – Yeah, Theo needs to learn to feed off the flick on and he’d be twice the player. George Graham used to go lairy at players who stood and watched.
Thanks TTG.
To be honest, I wasn’t aware I’d made a point, just spewing forth a lot of random crowing. Fun though, isn’t it?
A vritual drink with you, sir.
*Zelalemlike defensesplitter*
Boom
Toby @ 470. Well stated my friend.
Arsene on Flamini- “re-signing him was a no-brainer I’m just sorry he didn’t cost £25million”.
Well in, Toby!
Sorry I couldn’t provide as beautiful a goal as H2H at 400, but they all count!
And @ 478, for fuck’s sake, Toby, for FUCK’S SAKE
“I have had six very happy years at Tottenham but it’s the right time to say goodbye,” said 24-year-old Bale.
It is always a good time to say goodbye to that lot.
I saw that Cent. Funny and something to think about. He played left back and got us into the CL final, he played during the 2-0 Milan away, and he played in Milan, as a starter pretty much for five seasons. He is a decent player and if we hadn’t had him before and if he had cost 18m or so, many fans would be quite happy about getting that proven defensive midfield cover. Wenger is one of the only sane people in football. Really is. Bad sides and all. Always gets people to think, and not in any pseudo-philosophical way.
If we sign Ozil I will be over the moon.
I also think that today’s result will validate the decision to leave it late in the transfer market, assuming we buy well. For all the injuries, it’s 1 Sept and we’re in the CL and ahead of Utd and Spurs in the league, level with City and a point off Chelsea.
It hasn’t been easy viewing and I suspect we’ve all shat a brick or two, but the gamble appears to have worked out OK.
Contrast with the LWCs – did their business early but what have they actually bought? Better a tier 1 player in September than a tier 3 player in June.
Of course, all of the above requires us to actually spend, but we’re going to. I can feel it in the air.
COYG
Well in, Toby
Heh, Lincoln, it’s just not a day during which I can show my ordinary self-restraint. Forgive me for my sins on the basis of what I usually do well. Just in too good a mood not to get into the full swing of things tonight!
Also: if we do spend tomorrow I hope the Twitter cry babies like Payton and Morgan who have spent the last 24 hours slating everything about Arsenal and bigging up the LWCs (on the eve of the NLD!) have the good grace to apologise and get off the manager the players’ backs for the rest of the season.
Criticism is healthy, but sometimes you need to STFU and get behind the lads. The descent into gibbering hysteria in some quarters has been very poor indeed. One game lost since March 2! Let’s worry more about what happens on the pitch, and less about the headlines, because the view from the pitch just now is pretty damn good.
Agreed, N7 and Toby.
Fuck me we might be signing Ozil – Im about to explode man goo all over the screen ! Kike Marin has just confirmed it and Sky Sports are now on the case – Pretty pretty pretty please what a fucking player !
And, as I continue backdrinking, WELL SAID Pangloss @ 491.
“If you’re feeling bored, try to imagine the media reaction if Arsène went out and spent £100+m and then lost to a side that had only signed a couple of players on free transfers.
And finally, does anyone really believe that Arsenal couldn’t find half-a-dozen £15m players if we felt like it?”
OH MY yes. You can say what you like about our transfer activity this summer, and I’m the first to admit it hasn’t been as terribly masterful display, regardless of what tomorrow brings. But the reason we haven’t brought anyone in yet is because we’re looking at really top notch players. We’re looking at the likes of Suarez, Higuain, Gustavo, and now, ostensibly, Drexler, Ozil, Di Maria et al. Those deals are much harder to pull off than the likes of Chiriches, Lamela (30 mil? Give me a break!)…Eriksen might be an exception, or he might not. And while with a little more transfer prowess and the willingness to “overpay,” we might already have one or two of those top notch players, at least we’re in the game at that level. Which Spurs are not, because they CAN’T BE. Cause we’re fucking better than they are.
Sanogo doesn’t count, as he’s essentially a youth player, and Flamini is obviously a squad player.
Nervous about tomorrow. Fingers crossed. Hopefully Wenger doesn’t prove me wrong with a couple fair-to-middlin last ditch buys. Or hopefully he does?? I’m so confused.
FOYS
Pfft, Theo wasnt piss poor. Wash yer mouf out, or your glasses TTG! 🙂
SSN sayin we are in advanced talks with Ozil….. Ommmmmmmmmmmm
It looks like Suarez is going to Madrid. Arsene was quite honest with his “girlfriend” analogy.
Assuming we are really signing Ozil and Viviano, I would be greedy and would love it we manage to sign creative and fast striker and backup DM. Not anyone glamouresque, just a decent backups.
Our squad is to thin, not trying to get covers for that two positions would be quite risky and such a luxury .
N7
I get incredibly annoyed by idiots who comment that they hope we lose 5-0. Imagine life if that happened? How can any self-respecting Gooner ever want the club to lose-especially to the LWCs?
The sheer desire from the fans to overcome the old enemy was tangible and the team responded well.Your point exactly.
Thankfully this is not the spivs blog of choice
510; And as one who has been far from zen like in the last few days, I agree with all that.
Spot on TTG.
Crowd were ace today. THAT’s the fcuking stuff.
Multiple decent sources saying Ozil is done. Also being linked with a loan move for Ba – would make sense.
If you’d told any of us in May we’d sign Ozil we’d have wept for joy. Remember that tomorrow when someone tells you we needed three world class signings.
Dare I say it? Arsene knows.
Norris-I was there and he showed much less commitment than any other player on the team. He disappears in some big games. I expected him to have Danny Rose on toast but virtually until he set up Giroud he didn’t touch the ball.
Santi was ostensibly playing wide and I wager he covered a lot more round than Theo.
I’m a hard taskmaster -I’ve been criticising Giroud for the last year .
It comes with being a sour old git -and with poor eyesight to boot
TTG; That explains why you thought Theo was crap then…. I am never a good judge of the players’ performances when Im at the games! 🙂
Heh B7 @493.
Do you guys need me or do you know what’s going on ;)?
TTG I am with you on this one. Theo has a lot of work in front of him. Particularly on his positioning, both in defense and offence. He must also finish those chances that others were creating for him. He was trying hard today, but it didn’t come his way.
Sometimes I feel sorry for Giroud working his sock off to win aerial, only to realize that Theo is usually nowhere near the pass. There is place for improvement and I am sure Theo himself knows that really well..
Snir
…a quick round up would be useful?
We need you, Snir!
Snir, I’ve got no fcuking idea what’s going on.
Spanish press say Ozil fee is £38m rising to £43m.
He is only 24 years old! Steal !!!!
Snir, Lurky is putting in a decent shift but you two can do it tag team style.
Snir!!!!
Get in there – whats the word?
Woe, seriously harsh on Theo IMO. He isnt a Cazorla and will naturally drift in and out of games but even today, he skinned their left side all day long. His upward curve has been stratospheric in the last 9 months or so.
Snir!! to quote Marvin, “what’s goon’ on?”
Ok, so Viviano on a loan as cover for Woj, who was magnificent by the way, and a small gift from him – https://t.co/GQzNMC6vx9
Ozil is done – @th14Renato: Cadena COPE: Arsenal signs Mesut Ozil in a €45million deal plus €5m in bonuses http://t.co/AV2xjec6fI
What a fucking signing!!!
Di Maria still on the cards – @GraemeBailey: Angel Di Maria to Arsenal also still being talked up – seemingly a big 24 hours coming for the Gunners.
@Sanderson: Arsenal spoke to Madrid last night over Angel Di Maria. Also in for Palermo goalkeeper Emiliano Viviano.
Real going for Suarez. Benzema got booed the whole game today, make of that what you will.
Still going for Rooney.
Snir
Has anyone ever told you that you’re a beautiful human being?!
@dimarzio: Update for @EmilianoViviano to @Arsenal: the goalkeeper is now in London with agents to agree personal terms and have medical tomorrow
Short stat – Viviano claimed 100% of crosses last season. Woj claimed 97%.
Sorry all, I’m beginning to join the herd and doubt my sanity.
Watching some detective series on ITV and I could have sworn there was a Sky advert on just now that featured an Arsenal goal (scored by Theo).
Just fancy, Sky advertising their service with clips of a team that’s spent nothing during the transfer window and has only just scraped into the Champions League for the past 16 years?
N7 – that’s what she said 😉
532
What? Rooney, Ozil, Di Maria and Viviano… But, no effin CB, pffft! 🙂
Alright. OFF my man Feo.
Hes a slow starter. Hes a gunner. Lets cut the man a bit. Hes top scorer last campaign.
Am just totally pysched amd proud of pur lads for beating 100 million pounds worth of Tottenham mediocrity.
How pissed are you – if youre them? (My mate the spurs fan?…totally expected this.). How torqued are you if youre … Well … Us?!
Only one. … Only one Areene Wenger. God love That old bastard.
Sorry, read mine@535 as “a team that, with only 26hrs to go, has spent nothing in the current transfer window”.
thought the same, Norris, wenger aht! but what a back six we do gots…
@English_AS: La SER say Arsenal and Madrid have a pre-agreement for Özil – for a fee of “between 45-50 M euros”
More confirmations
I can see clearly now the rain is gone…
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zKvmlj2k_fM
Arsenal have offered Mesut Özil €7m p/yr, Manchester United offered €5m p/yr. The player chose Arsenal.
get *in*.
We don’t need a CB. Vermaelen will be back soon. Sagna is the CB cover with Flamini extra RB cover.
What we do need is another fast outlet on the wing to complement Theo on the left and to cover for him when he is injured. And a striker that can come in/alternate for Giroud.
We probably don’t need another DM as Flamini can do that too. Arteta will be back. Plus if we get Ozil then Basically that’s Arteta, Flamini, Wilshere and Ramsey going for two places.
Apparently the Sun tweeted Christian Bale has signed for Real!
Might be a lot of money for him I surmise.
There is talk of a loan deal for Demba Ba. He would be great back-up to my new best friend OG!
Great finish Tobes.
Snir
Any other names mentioned who could surprise us?
Hang onto your hats gunners! Things are afoot!
AVB??? Ha Ha Ha!! Loser.
One nil to the arsenal.
Transfers be damned. How awesome is this squad? Good things this term. I can feel it.
Snir,
your presence brought calmness into my mind and confirmed that something big is cooking, if we really sign Özil I will be happier than ever…prospect of him combining with Santi, TR7, Jack and Aaron is just freaking mouthwatering.
Di Maria added on the wing would be dreamy…still think that this is our year!!
For those having a go at Theo Walcott, I believe we have scored ten goals this season and Walcott has four or five assists?
If we sign Ozil, we really don’t need Di Maria do we… not really.
Old quotes from Flamini.
@NeilBrooksAFC: “I have to police the midfield. I have to protect my defence, stay in the middle and focus on stopping their attacks..”
@NeilBrooksAFC: “It’s very important because the midfield is the heart of the team. In England, every week, every team is fighting..”
@NeilBrooksAFC: “It’s important to win the fight first and then after that to play. Because if you don’t win the fight you cannot play..”
@NeilBrooksAFC: “We all want to play football. It’s a pleasure to play the way we play. But we have to be at the front of the physical battle..”
@NeilBrooksAFC: “..if we have to fight, we fight.”
Pretty sure that’s what we always wanted.
Not seeking any affirmation, but could anyone bother to take a look at my 279, 280, 281 posts, (when I was talking with myself and no one gave a fyck of what I am saying) and say that passionately following all the rumours and in learning in time pick the right ones doesn’t pay off.
By the way, the two funniest sights today apart from those cunts in despair was the sight of David Beckham realising who the real star was, pre game, and taking a photo of his son with Gunnersaurus and the second was Vilas Boas playing ball boy, about 30 yards out of his technical area.
That’s called DESPERATION
@bbcsport_david: Arsenal in advanced talks to sign Ozil from Real Madrid. Other deals being worked on, including Palermo GK Viviano #bbcfootball #afc #rmfc
A striker is also needed, it could still be benzema, altho Higuain was the one that got away for us.
“Happy Days are Here Again!”. We don’t need no stinking transfers. If AFC make it a double over the Scum the demand will become irresistible – except from the Seven Sisters – for AW to join the Vatican Academy so that Francis can then resign and step aside for a world saving second half substitution. “Urbi e Orbi! “
Slept like a baby the previous night, I was so confident we can beat the scum.
Wont’t sleep today, so excited we may actually sign…
“Mesut Özil executed more key passes last season (78) than Barcelona trio Andrés Iniesta, Sergio Busquets & Cesc Fàbregas combined (75).”
@realmartinkemp: My guys at Arsenal say Özil having his medical 🙂 What a day! Arsenal beat Spurs and they lose this guy… http://t.co/gjuqPtlnLH
Lurky @ 553
I’m widdya buddy.
Ozil is a top signing.
I hope if we are getting a striker it is NOT Benzema.
About strikers, I think Ba is back-up if we fail to get one out of Rooney, Suarez or Benzema, that’s why any deal for him will be a loan deal so we can go back in for our main targets next summer if we don’t get them tomorrow.
Back from The Emirates but in no way calmed down as yet …….
Having missed 2 minor games since the stadium opened, I can safely say that was the best atmosphere ever generated there. Non-stop fantastic noise and a huge effort to drown out every single song by the deluded cock and ball followers. At least some of them stayed for the last 20 minutes today.
I mention him only to underline the irony, but their best player was Townsend who cost, er, nothing, I believe.
As did Scaesny, Gibbs, Wilshere, half our bench, and Jenks set us back 1 million or less, if memory serves.
Oh yes, the result if anyone missed it –
£0.00 1 – 0 £109,000,000 ( just this summer )
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. 😆
Result was never in doubt and the crowd were immense at the Grove!
Two freebies (1) – (0) 100 million squids of mediocrity! Was pleased with Flamini when he came on (experience, leadership and desire in abundance – perfect squad acquisition).
70+ million squids of super quality within the first team and the squad will come in over the next 25 hours! Snir knows the score!
This is gonna be the best Deadline Day after yet another humbling of the cunts! COYBG! In Arsene I Trust!
On the Ozil front, he has amassed a total of 87 assists over the past three seasons- that an average of 29 every season.
@ChurchOfFutbol: Most assists in the last 3 seasons:
1. Ozil -86.
2. Messi-80
3. Mata-66
4. Ribery-55
5. Hazard -52
@566, there you go!!!
Lurky,
Sorry I missed your 279, 280, 281 –
I was out, laughing at a team, who are by all accounts SO much better than us, trying to beat us at home for the second time in twenty four attempts.
Power shift my Arsenal. 😉
Snir @532, aye mate.
Lurky, @553, good stuff.
Trev@ we are all proud of everyone of you who created that atmosphere today.
@Squawka: Mesut Özil executed more key passes last season (78) than Barcelona trio Andrés Iniesta, Sergio Busquets & Cesc Fàbregas combined (75).
Don’t like him but he’s been absolutely spot on today so
@wayneveysey: Those 3 Arsenal deals I wrote/tweeted about early this afternoon? Obviously Ozil, Viviano. The 3rd is a striker. Details to come…..
So if we do get Ozil, that’s Arsenal up an Ozil and Spurs down a Bale within 24 hours.
Power shift indeed.
Just watched that video from Martin Kemp’s tweet and Snir’s@559, it’s 7+ minutes of my life I’ll never get back.
But, they say that the Bale fee is £46m in six installments. How much of a financial hole does that leave the Middlesex team in?
Sorry, that’s £86m for Bale
Heh, Trev my posts were two hours before our game even started 🙂
N7 @560, thanks mate, I know.
You were right about keeping zen, actually.
Almost lost my nerves couple of weeks ago. Cant’t blame only myself though, almost three months of waiting, not missing the slightest bit news, hoping for our club not to miss this great chance, when we are in good position, have money, have good team core and yet no sign of a signing.
And then the Villa loss came, with Fener waiting to exploit our constant risky walking in mine fields.
And then again, no signing, no fresh legs, but again, so many injuries. Something exploded in me.
Thankfully it was soon over. Win at Fener changed everything, as I always sad that I would not mind if we don’t sign anyone until the deadline day as long as we qualify for the CL.
Well in Toby, they all count mate, I’ll retire going for goal due to the best strike ever (Esso is god. 😉 )
Top drinks from many, well said Chippy and Trev, N7 you are a man among men and I bow to your zen.
Thanks to Snir for trhe goings on in the Twittersphere, but I refuse to believe anything on there untill it’s official.
100mil and you’re still shit #cunts
And thanks Cent, appreciate it 🙂
Well in Lurky.
If Mickey Thomas taught us anything it’s that it’s not over until the final whistle.
Oohtobe
I usually prefer not to go too much into dressing room dynamics but in hindsight, I think we’re better off with Flamini over Gustavo.
He wanted assurances he’ll play every week, and to be honest, he can go do one. We have Arteta. Who is – https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BTEU3LoIgAApT9t.jpg
That would bring the dressing room down and he would have the same bad influence NB has.
Flamini on the other hand will kill for every minute as we saw today.
Actually H2H wrong, like it or not, Spuds net spend this summer is £0.8m,
@Kumailh: Al jazeera sport claiming: Ozil to Arsenal is done deal. £43m, 4 year contract with a salary of £135k before tax. Will be confirmed 4pm 2moro
Al Jazeera close to AW. He works for them from time to time.
1 Liverpool 3 3 9
2 Chelsea 3 3 7
3 Man City 3 5 6
4 Arsenal 3 1 6
5 Stoke 3 1 6
6 Tottenham 3 1
7 Man Utd 3 2 4
The cold hard fact bitches.
*L’poo are shit and they smell
Chelsea are cunts
Man Citeh got lucky against a promoted team
Mattia Destro anyone?
http://www.calciomercato.it/news/234109/Calciomercato-Arsenal-ESCLUSIVA-le-ultime-su-Viviano.html
If that ref hadn’t fucked us we’d be top and flying right now.
@PadraigAFC: A final bid for Karim Benzema is expected from Arsenal. [Telegraph] #AFC
Lurky.
If I’m wrong, then I don’t know what it is to be right,
Before kick off they had spunked, yes spunked 100mil.
Their best players, according to AW, Lloris, according to me, Townsend were already there.
Not one of their so called top signings did shit to impress me, although I must admit Ca-poohy did cover that stretcher well.
100mill and they are still cunts (I’ll stand by that).
I’m beginning to feel like a six year old on Christmas Eve. Not like THAT, Wolfie!
Agreed again N7 @ 584.
or Abel Hernández?
It seems like Viviano’s agent is also proposing a striker for Arsenal.
The available strikers in his books are Abel Hernández and Mattia Destro.
I would pick Hernandez, and I am sure Arsene will do it too.
Why would you not sign Flamini for free ?
He was great from minute one when he dame on.
Intense, organising, motivating and holds such a good position in front of the back four. Has to be able to defend after four years in Italy.
They were so scaredc of us, even after a Man Citeh/Chav like spending spree, that they wouldn’t let Bale go till after the NLD.
Make of THAT what you will.
@JamieDalton82: Telegraph say Abel Hernandez – http://t.co/3AkCjIKRgD
Good cover for Giroud.
@586 H2H,
I know what you mean, but lets be honest and say that Bale was done about month ago. If that wasn’t the case they would not spend all that money, I am sure we would all agree. He wasn’t even playing for them in any game this summer.
Spuds had an agreement with Real to prolong the deal, so they can sign their targets, and to do as much damage they can to our transfer plans. It obviously worked for them, until today when they get taste of their own medicine
Abel Hernandez?
Second divison, unproven kid.
Sound’s about right. 😕
@Sharpovic: Ha, AW on French tv “we’ll only sign super quality”. Journalist : “mata, Ozil , are you interested ? ” AW : “those are super quality indeed”
Özil, di María & Abel Hernández are Arsenal’s main targets on deadline day. Ba on back-up list.
So it looks like there will be no DM cover. That means that either Diaby is coming back or Frimpong is getting game time. Both of them risky solutions imho.
I had forgotten how effective Flamini has been as a defensive midfielder until that first biting challenge. Exactly what we have needed for a couple of years. May be THE value signing of this window.
Top, top performance all round.
Lurky.
I get what you mean, but, before KO the record books will state:
Arsenal 1 LWC’s 0
Arsenal net spend – min10mill
Spurs net spend – a fucking shit load
We are the ARSENAL- They are cunts.
END OF!!
Lucky @593. I am sure you are correct there.
BANG
False retiree, I see, H2H. Good move.
@wayneveysey: Arsenal make Demba Ba enquiry but Roma are also in for #CFC striker http://t.co/00fZ9rqHq6
Cheers Toby.
Damba Ba…Humbug!!
Off to watch MOTD2 (on delay) Hope those bumbags choke. 😎
Look up what Mesut means in Turkish. Because that’s exactly how I’m feeling about seeing him in the famous red and white. Fingers staying crossed for 24 hours.
One of the most reliable Spanish journos out there.
@Kike_Marin_: Özil at @Arsenal for 45 million euros. Great signing for the gunners !
1-0 to the Arsenal!!! 😀
All this talk of Ozil & co.
Wenger please don’t break my heart.
Nice work Snir. Thanks for the info.
Snir what’s your twitter handle?
Uze guys are all crazy. Ah still don trus Wanga. All dis laz minut iz panik trash. We only scored 1 goal on a beyter Totnum team that noes how to spend cash.
All Wanga doez iz talk riddlez. We’d be betta if we gave $60 mil an ‘av Suarez. You all bein’ hoodwinked an don’t even noe. Flamini iz too old. We needed Higs, but silly Wanga was too cheap to buy, now way do we ‘av? Eh?
Wanga out!
@BledMamba: BREAKING: @jpedrerol confirms AFC and REAL MADRID have agreed a fee for Ozil. Talks still ongoing between Ozil and AFC
iLonestar,
Are you Redknapp in disguise ? 😉
I’m beginning to feel like a six year old on Christmas Eve.
Hopefully not one in a hospital expecting a visit from Jimmy Savile.
What a relief. Months of mounting stress, constant speculation and will he/won’t he. A fan base who remember the good old days but have become a bit “what have you done for me lately”.
I’ll confess, there were moments I came perilously close to losing faith. Moments where I thought it would never happen, that the future was bleak and that my hero would not deliver.
I can’t tell you how good it feels to come out the other side of it all and realise that all the worry was for nothing – it’s actually happening, it was under control the whole time and that what we’ve really been witnessing is a football genius playing poker with the expectations of his thousands of followers before finally delivering. And delivering big time.
Yes – Snir has returned to cover deadline day. Get in!
Cynic.. OUCH. 😉
@613,
Snir is not the Messiah – he’s just a very naughty boy. 😉
Umm until it’s officially announced don’t count your chickens… there’s still time for it to go tits up!
Oh shit, ignore me I missed the last line LOL
I think Frimpong is very underrated.
Another striker?… Mmm maybe. But probably not. Midfiled depth is what we need. AW bought Sonogo – he’ll buy no more strikers.
Soldado has a ton of ability. But he had NO service – which he needs.
AVB is a pretender. No more. Spurs may yet give us a game at WHL. But well see. Probably not!
As far as xsfers go – snir you are getting us all worked up. Loving it tho!
Lets go Wenger get those signigs in pleaseeeeeeee
I thoughthave Flamini being back would be a good omen. He was part of the big player moves away from us and now has come home.
If we do get ozil, madrid has got to be run by footballing mouthbreathers. Ozil is a league above bale. They are spending net 45milto to weaken their team.
Talk that Ozil may only be a loan deal…
I didn’t know Arseblogger had been moonlighting for The Daily Shit
http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/arsenal-stuck-heads-sand-spurs-2237960
Trev – Naughty? Who told you that nonsense :)?
Can’t wait for tomorrow to come. Feel like a child waiting to open his Christmas presents.
Mr. Trevor @ 611,
Well ah don’t noe much abowt this Lone Gunnman chap, but ah do noe that Spurs were a damn sight betta than a vewy plain Arsenal side. Same old Arsenal. No ambition.
Listen, mate, Her Majesty’s Tax Courts prove me a trooftella. An ahm here to tell ya, Spurs bossed this game. More possession, more completed passes, more dangerous…why else would dirty Wanga end the game wit 4 backs? He waz scared that’s why.
Spurs got their transfer business done early. Fantastic signin’s too. Who has the French girlie man bought yet? eh? Thats why hez lost hiz fans, too. My good mate will tell you. He Smiles all the time, and he’ll post in here soon… I just noe he will.
Lissen to meh, Wanga’s finished. Done. Out of ideaz he iz. No way way he’ll spend any dosh ‘cuz hez out a touch, mate. Hez lost it.
Lissen to Uncle ‘Arry. I’ve won stuff, and I noe. You’ve got to spend big. Listen to the alarmists…this iz wat I told Andre and I reckon he’ll be just fine after tonight. Speculate to accumulate I always say.
Spurs waz robbed tonight that’s all.
Wanga out!
PS – when you give Wanga the ol’ heave ho, howz ’bout giving your ol’ Uncle ‘Arry a call?
Feel like a child waiting to open his Christmas presents.
Hopefully not one in a hospital being visited by … oh I have already made that joke.
Cynic, cynical joke indeed.
If we get Ozil + a couple of other peaches I will gladly admit to being a knee-jerking reactionary fathead.
I had got to the point where I would have been happy with any half decent signing, so long as he had a price tag over £15m or so. Now I understand why the answer to my enquiry about the manager’s job was, ‘Don’t call us we’ll call you”.
But Jimmy DID fix it, right?
BMBD
In other news …
“Loan deal on for Demba Ba. However WBA trying to scupper it by buying outright.”
It would have been nice to have him as a backup. However, Maureen would not loan to us, so not to much hope there.
BBC:
Villas-Boas has spent close to £105m on new players this summer but while his side look powerful, they were often lacking the speed of an Arsenal team with more Premier League experience ..
Bam.
@GeoffArsenal: There are other targets apart from Ba.
Panic buys eh ;)?
I am, as they say, bladdered.
Work tomorrow. Or rather today.
We are the Arsenal and they are the (Lily White) Cunts. A wise man told me that.
See you beautiful people tomorrow through the hazy transfer-window. 8)
Zico!
Sleep well sweet prince…yeah, I’ve had a bit of the speerit.
Just give me that old time religion…
Good work, Snir.
BMBD
@DreamWright – @Snir_Geuli
Before I
pass outgo to sleep; How disapointing was it that Lily Savage, Bigears Mcexspud , Ahole Hansen, Shearer (that name is all stupid enough) and other assorrted buttmunchers were nowhere to be found on MOTD2?
Were they all hiding behind the sofa?
@th14Renato: L’Equipe are reporting Arsenal and Newcastle have both made a €12million bid for Lille winger Florian Thauvin but he’s Marseille bound.
Evening.
Having just driven the best part of 600 miles and managed to avoid the score, I walk in to discover that the game has not recorded. I have just managed to catch up via sky highlights and MOTD2. Great result and sounded a great atmosphere. Ollie G took his goal superbly. Bale Hotspur without Bale don’t really look all that. I can’t believe he was not there? I mean, Levy was adamant that Bale would not be sold????
I then discover that we are in “advanced talks” with Ozil having agreed a fee????? Wow. A fantastic player that I rate massively. Not going to hold my breath at this stage, I just hope that this is the real thing and not the false dawns of the summer. He would certainly be a fantastic signing if we could pull it off. Hopefully a few more to follow as well.
Not had a chance to back drink just yet. I take it all of those in attendance had a great day?
Ozil would be, maybe already is, a great addition and Viviano on loan would be ideal, but I still worry a bit about the depth of the squad and expect AW to sign more, if not at quite Ozil heights. My guess is Williams and Michu will join us.
Nothing like a good old 1-0 to revive the spirits, even if there was a touch of ‘lucky Arsenal’ thrown in as well. Some of our passing was woeful and we should have been punished a couple of times at least. Then again we could have scored a couple more ourselves (another pure striker needed) so we were still good value for the win.
Spurs lack pace and may struggle from here, but they have useful players in Townsend and Chadli and Lloris was superb. Hopefully they will be well down the table before their new boys blend in fully.
Oskar
I really think the top prority is :
1 . a theo type left winger (it would be terrifying our rivals with wide threats from both side)
2. a GK (seem we will sign Viviano .. Backup for Buffon in the National team)
3. A striker to backup/compete to Giroud
4. Ozil type midfielder
In this order.
https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BTHQm4wIgAAN6qJ.jpg:large
Beautiful 🙂
To be fair, Özil is the kind of player that would help immensely when it comes to getting Walcott scoring from a central starting position. Not saying Theo would work well as an outlet when we are under the cosh, but Özil would make it more viable to play a smaller player there, and diminish the need for another proper striker (if not at all removing it outright!)
Nice. I like it. For the first time images I didn’t have my heart in my mouth while watching the game. I was quite confident they won’t score an equaliser. Every body worked their asses off and it deserved all the three points, and the clean sheet.
*in ages*
@101greatgoals: It’s all happening…
Real Madrid will launch a last-gasp €45m bid for Liverpool’s Luis Suarez [AS] http://t.co/XY4K4yJOVs
Benzema anyone ;)?
I’m ready for TDD.
Bought a five hour energy. Not gonna sleep today.
Here’s a snippet;)
@MickTheGooner: LATEST: Arsenal have a deal in place to sign Angel Di Maria. (TalkSport)
Funniest thing on the planet!!!
@DarrenArsenal1: LOL………. RT @arseblog: Haha, @gunnerblog does it again! http://t.co/tfST4EZVnb
Snir, mate if we get Ozil and Di Maria I will go all http://25.media.tumblr.com/cf6d91bd87838dabd76063a138442e8c/tumblr_mo1z6qJug81r03eaxo1_r1_400.gif
Im ready for my 15 hour shift in today…. Nice to see Snir right on it already!!! 🙂
Let’s just sign Abel Hernandz, his celebratory dance moves alone will be worth every penny.
@101greatgoals: Marca: Mesut Ozil agreed terms with Arsenal on Saturday; €50m deal imminent
http://t.co/B34d9kTqcm
It’s getting nearer.
@Gooner_In_BCN: Gotta love Marca. At 7:59am they put up a report saying Ozil to AFC is all but done and at 8:47am one that he doesn’t want to leave.
Lol.
TDD is fucking mental.
@GuillemBalague: AFC and RM reached deal for Ozil, €45m+5 in objectives. BUT not personal terms agreed yet, lots separating AFC and player.
Hah, Snir. This will be an exciting day.
Ive never liked that Balague!
All reports now creeping up that Ozil has decided to stay at RM.
The next 14 hours are gonna be very long.
Hmmmm…..
Im supposed to be doing my 15000 word Uni dissertation….. Thats not gonna happen today!
Hope you can bring me some positive news Arsenal to make my loyalty to the transfer deadline day cause (AKA proscrastination) worthwhile!! 🙂
So, will RM really be prepared to lose Kaka, Higuain AND Özil in the same transfer window? And if they are, will they really be prepared to let Di Maria or Benzema go as well?
@LlewAFC: ‘Arsenal went ahead to reach an agreement with the father and agent Özil’, says @Kike_Marin_: http://t.co/qnmjj2I2QQ
As I’ve said, Özil is, for me, without question the best player we’ve been linked with in years. If he doesn’t come, I really wouldn’t think it’s strange that he choses to stay with RM, looking at our recent record. I’ve said all summer that I can’t see us getting players of that caliber just yet, but that we probably need to strengthen a bit with players just under that level first, and get the proper stars next summer. I’d love Özil, I’d absolutly love having him, and yesterday, being high on endorfines (also: beer) it felt like it just might happen. Today? We’ll see. If it does, I’ll fucking scream, if he doesn’t, will get a player or two from just under his level and I will have gotten just what I asked for this summer, and won’t be unhappy (well, at least not angry!).
Toby
Cant see RM allowing all of them to leave, altho Kaka wasnt really playing much. Benzema could go, along with Ozil, but that might depend on whether they can get Suarez in, or another striker.
Benzema isnt really well liked by the RM fans.
If we dont sign Ozil, altho understandable as you say, it will still seem like a massive kick to the goolies. Not sure what other bizznizz we’ll be doing. Knowing Arsenal we wont see anything official till 22;59.
Great technical description of the derby to be found here.
Still basking at the moment! How’s everyone else doing?
http://www.thehardtackle.com/2013/tactics-arsenal-tottenham-hotspur-derby/
Thanks CoR, just read that…. Nice write up. Makes a mockery of those who suggest the manager is tactically inept.
@JanAageFjortoft: Just got this confirm from person close to Özil-family:Talks right now with Arsenal about player’s deal. 5/6 yrs deal.
Bild report too
#AFC
Rumor is Kagawa to PSG is on.
What are you doing Moyes?
@DaveGarghan9: Graham Hunter has just told TalkSport that Ozil would love to join United #MUFC
Maybe that’s why.
Today could be a very long day. Possibly one of the most important days in the clubs history.
Graham Hunter doesnt know anything more than the average british based hack. Him and Balague get as much wrong as any common or garden #ITK
Sportsmail’s Sami Mokbel with the latest from the Emirates:
Arsenal are back in discussions with Real Madrid this morning over their interest in Mesut Ozil, Angel Di Maria and Karim Benzema.
Of the three, Sportsmail understands deals for Ozil and Di Maria are more realistic, with hopes of a swoop for Benzema now fading.
Palermo striker Abel Hernandez – international team-mate for Arsenal target Luis Suarez – has emerged as a late contender in the club’s search for a new centre-forward.
Arsenal scouts have watched Hernandez, 23, extensively in recent seasons – and a late £10million bid was being considered by the club’s top brass last night.
Schalke wonderkid Julian Draxler remains an option today, but Wenger is reluctant to spend £40million – the German’s asking price – on a 19-year-old.
Sportsmail has also learned Arsenal are also considering a cheeky loan bid for Manchester United midfielder Shinji Kagawa.
@RYO_cleverfish: Hull manager Steve Bruce in final attempt to sign Nicklas Bendtner.
http://t.co/meLt76th4S
Morning all … a pint of celebration for all of the irregular regulars 🙂
@JanAageFjortoft: I understand the Özil-negotiations are done over the phone. And that Wenger has to break his wage-structure.
#AFC
Do it Arsene.
This is the guy who broke the Gotze to Bayern story.
…. and some more coffee and red bull for Snir! 😉
… and alka seltzer for Glenn !!
I would be much more secure in the knowledge we had Özil locked up in a negotiating room, or at least his agent. Preferably a room shielding telephone frequencies. Not fond of the idea that he just has to pick up the phone if Utd calls. But I guess us negotiating over the phone is better than us not negotiating at all. Hopefully Utd will put their efforts into getting Herrera.
@honigstein: . @JanAageFjortoft is very well connected to the relevant person in Özil camp. You can his word as gospel. Will come down purely to wages
Do it Arsene!!!
If Gazidis says we can pay 250 a week for Rooney, we can for Ozil!!!!!
“Manchester United have made contact with Mesut Özil’s representatives”
It was nice to meet you Ozil … goodbye
@ESPNUK: RUMOURS! Manchester United have apparently contacted Mesut Ozil’s representatives. Arsenal still in the running. #MUFC #AFC
SSN just said no fee or wage demand would scare off United
SSN ManU lovin twats saying they are in for Ozil too! “bulldog chewin a wasp grumpy face” thingy
This is designed to tell Arsenal to stop feckin about with wages AGAIN!
Right this is karma and the Dissertation police tellin me to get back to work…. Im off…. for a bit! Thanks for all the updates…
@BenSmithBBC: I am told #MUFC definitely NOT in for Mesut Özil. Working hard on deals for Marouane Fellaini and Ander Herrera. #DeadlineDay
Mental window.
BenSmithBBC I am told #MUFC definitely NOT in for Mesut Özil. Working hard on deals for Marouane Fellaini and Ander Herrera.
Oh, Ozil, nice to see you again.
Snir, I’ll leave it to you, this is too much even for me.
Haha! Thanks guys! This is killin me!!!
I’m just smiling manically. What else is there to do.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
@1Walid1: Its true Ornstein only reports what Arsenal want him to. No way would Arsenal release info about Ozil deal unless they were super confident
Wise words.
We signed Obama yet? Oh, wait… it was Yaya Banana, sorry.
