It’s Up For Grabs, Soon
Oct 31st, 2017 by 'holic
So, if you aren’t on social media you might not be aware that next Wednesday sees the world premiere of 89. The film is directed by Dave Stewart, with Lee Dixon and Amy Lawrence as executive producers.
This is the story of the most astonishing end to a season ever (yes City, ever) as told by those who were involved. Lee Dixon, George Graham, Tony Adams and Michael Thomas, as well as Arsenal legend Ian Wright, and contributions from avid fans including Dermot O’Leary, Nick Hornby and Alan Davies. 89 is a nostalgic, emotional tribute to what will surely be remembered by all Gooners who were alive as the greatest night of all time.
Talking ahead of the release Lee, instrumental in ‘that’ winning goal, said …
“It stands alone as the best moment I ever experienced in football. A unique time in football history threw up an unimaginable finale. To this day people talk about where they were when it happened. 89 is our side of one of the most dramatic and emotionally charged nights in football, told from our vantage point inside the dressing room and on the pitch.”
There are various screenings, or you can create your own! Check out ourscreen.com here for details. Our very own official film reviewer is reporting for us from the world premiere and I’m sure will have some fabulous stories to tell.
Alternatively you can click on the Amazon advertisement in the sidebar > and pre-order your very own copy on dvd for £9.99. If you are a Prime member you get free delivery too. That’s a good reason to try that 30 day free trial. (That’s a tip, not a subtle advert or paid content.)
So come back next week for more on what looks like being a wonderful record of a very special achievement.
Cheers ‘holics.

Christmas sorted
Ordering it for delivery next week. It won’t wait until Christmas, neighbour.
Holic must text you Jackster, just as he is about to press the button on his posts.
Insider trading is what i call it.
Any tips for getting a screening in the states?
Believe it or not,i still have the original video release of the match.
Not that I’ve got anything to play it on. !!
Even if i did, after all this time, the tape has probably deteriorated.
” It’s up for grabs now “
You’d be surprised how well video can last. I’ve still got some concerts recorded off the telly in the mid 80s and they play perfectly. 🙂
For those of us of a certain age, that team (and the 91) is unbeatable as an Arsenal side. You see Rocky all fired up in that trailer and that kind of character is long gone. Not just from our side but from football in general.
They just don’t make players like these any more.
Adam, got a local supporters club and a suitable sized cinema? I’m guessing if there’s an audience there’s a screening.
finely wrought, holic. what a gem of a movie.
it’s not available (yet) in region 1 format, nor on amazon.com. adam, to your point, i think writing to the people offering the showings is going to be necessary, as it’s impossible to put together a showing here through their website.
i am going to contact our local supporters group (south bay gooners) and see if we can get a showing at the bar where we watch the games.
Looking at CL scores tonight,
Seems obvious Chelsea squad cannot cope with 3 games a week, flogged 3 zip by Roma.
But unless both Roma and Chelsea lose their last 2 games,we will be joined in Europa league knockout stages by Athletico Madrid.
Also Dortmund with 1 pt from first 3 games are in serious danger of being dumped out of CL as well.
Could be a very tough year to win it,unlike Utd beating Neville Nobodies last season.
Looking forward to seeing that movie. Thank you Lulu. ??
I’m there weth West Stand, my photos of that night are used in the film
Cheers, ‘holic, I don’t use social media myself, so didn’t know this was coming.
I’ve pre-ordered it, and looking forward to watching from the comfort of the sofa, and not behind it like in ’89!
Chelsea fans saying Conte must go. Ridiculous. The truth is as Clive says they had a free swing last year with no Europe. They couldn’t have done it if they’d been in the Champions League.
I saw Lee at the game last Saturday. It’s spawned two feature movies already. That is indeed Christmas sorted! Will play it just after the Queen finishes out of respect
Dizzy! Lovely to see you mate.
Thanks Dorset Mick, I hope you enjoy it as much as I am expecting. ?
I’m guessing if there’s an audience there’s a screening – ‘holic #7
Or more likely, if there’s a screening there’ll be an audience. 😉
I was deputed with my brother-in- law to take the children to ( Danish) Legoland as my wife’s sister had just had a baby. The date was well clear of the end of the season so I was happy to go and then Hillsborough happened and it became the decider. To be fair I didn’t think we had an earthly and wasn’t too upset when none of the twenty channels in Legoland showed it. No social media. I heard the result on BBC News at 11 am Danish time. I woke all the kids up but the6 didn’t mind!
Even when I saw the game on video on our return home I couldn’t believe it. An amazing night but I didn’t suffer like the rest of you!
Atletico Madrid 1 FK Qarabag 1
Just wondering whether Atletico were any less motivated to compete against the Azerbaijan club after wearing shirts with Azerbaijan tourism slogans emblazoned on them for the past few years…
More germanely, I will be on the lookout for a chance to eyeball 89.
We were 11 points clear of Liverpool at one point that season and still left it to the last minute.

Chris, check out the link. You definitely need to get the audience before the screening happens. Crowd funding is changing the way things work. Last night I paid for Ian Stone’s new book which doesn’t get published until the funding reaches it’s target.
It seems Kola may be ok for
Sunday according to AW.
Good news if so.
No Calum yet for tomorrow
night so I guess the same team
as last time vs Red Star.
Great to see Amy Lawrence build a fine career. She started off writing for the Gooner and is a very passionate Arsenal girl . She has made a career out of her passion .
Another must have dvd. Who does not have fond memories of that night? I know I had a massive hangover the following day.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger believes Gunners midfielder Jack Wilshere should be recalled by England for their friendlies later this month.
Try picking him yourself first.
Dear Professor Arsene Wenger,
Are you currently watching Napoli vs Abu Dhabi Cit$H in the CL ???
Is that perhaps how you’re meant to coach and set-up your team tactically against the “big spenders” ? I doubt that Napoli have better players than you have to work with – pound for pound?! ?
And the Lillywhite Cunts vs Real Madrid too, Arsene! ?
Coaching! Coaching! Coaching! ?
