The Cup-Tested Gunners Get Another Chance To Impress
Jan 6th, 2018 by 'holic
Welcome to half a post. After Arsene Wenger’s three match touchline ban I was set to continue my week long rant, but this morning’s (Saturday) Arseblog post covers everything I would have said so I shall just link to it here instead. That just leaves a little look ahead to the visit to Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup on Sunday.
We will be putting out a cup team again, that much seems sure. So David Ospina behind a possible back three of Calum Chambers, Per Mertesacker, and Rob Holding. Mathieu Debuchy and Ainsley Maitland-Niles may start as wing backs flanking a midfield pairing of Mohamed Elneny and Francis Coquelin.
The most uncertainty surrounds the front three. We will get a good sign about Theo Walcott’s immediate future if he is left out and therefore is not cup-tied. Should that be the case then Danny Welbeck will find himself partnering a couple of youngsters, perhaps Reiss Nelson and Joe Willock (or Eddie Nketiah?). Don’t be surprised if Alexandre Lacazette is on the bench just in case.
The hosts lost 4-0 to us at the City Ground in the League Cup last season and have not enjoyed the best of seasons in the Championship. On New Year’s Eve they parted company with manager Mark Warburton and Gary Brazil has stepped up as caretaker manager, not for the first time. They are without a win in their last five matches and haven’t scored in the last three. We will be seeing Armand ‘knuckle-dusters’ Traore again as he is likely to be at left-back for Forest.
Brazil will tell his team they have no pressure or expectation going in to this match so they might as well go out and have a go. We know even the most experienced Arsenal teams can melt under pressure. I have to say though that there should enough of a blend of youth and experience to give us a distinct edge if we apply ourselves as we should. Playing at Forest today isn’t as intimidating as it was when Frank Stapleton’s late header saw them off at the City Ground on a memorable night in 1979.
The ‘holic pound
Some kind souls felt sorry for me and sent me a free bet this weekend so I am on a 0-3 win for the Gunners at 11/1. The likes of Fleetwood, Wigan, Coventry, Wolves, and Norwich have shown today that lower division clubs have chances to compete with weakened top flight clubs, but a lot of our cup tie squad have played well in the Carabao Cup and Europa League this season so they are not coming into the match cold.
The chances of me being able to write the match up before Monday evening are slim in the extreme, so apologies in advance. All that remains is for me to wish you, have a great one, ‘holics.

Dead Shot Dannyyyyyyyyyyyyyy
Get in.
Cheers H.
I’ll take second. Luvly jubly.
Half a post is much better than none! I think you are right that the bench may be much stronger than normal but the team may well be close to the one you suggest.
I’ve been worried about this game but I always worry about these sort of games. The FA Cup is a special trophy for us and I’d love us to defend it superbly. The Tank is apparently fit so we might see Lacazette, Sanchez and the Tank on the bench with Mustafi.
I’d love to see Nketiah and Nelson start. Last year’s League Cup win suggests we should be favourites but we do need to defend and I’m not sure we do that do we?
2-0 to the Gunners I think
Let’s be honest, we haven’t got a clue who will play, how they will play or if they will even turn up. It’s the great Arsenal Mystery of the modern era.
Just win the game. That’s all we ask.
We’ll turn-up 4 the FA cup … it’s in our genes – championeeees!
(re puns – promise to Levi’t to Trev the ledge in future)
UTA!
Thanks for the post Guvnor.
Given we’ve a game Wednesday I’ve
no idea what side we’ll put out
either. Apart from Osp who should
start both.
Anyway a robust defence of the
trophy we’ve won more than
anybody else is in order.
oh and goodbye Hughes, pity he
was fired as I was hoping he’d take
the Orcs down with him.
An Orc doom led by Hughes would
have been a nice win-win for me.
Hughes was an unpleasant player and an unpleasant manager of an unpleasant team.
Goodbye Sparky – you will not be missed.
UTA.
Off shortly to collect Gooner Malcolm on the way to meet up with the Norfolk Gooner’s mini bus our transport to Nottingham.
I didn’t see many of the “first team” amongst the players photographed at training which worries me. This is just the sort of game where experience at the back is vital. I expect it to be a real battle and am not sure we will have the players on view to see us through, fingers crossed.
COYR
Not bad for half a post, Holic,
and no mention of Forest being just like watching Brazil – even if it’s only Gary.
The 1979 game and Cloughie – reminds me of the Mike Yarwood impression of the green tracksuit- topped one –
“Well we’ve sold Trevor Francis to Juventus for a million pounds – and Gary Birtles to Fray Bentos for corned beef !”
Good luck, Delia.
I must be thinking of a different game with Forest when I see, in my mind’s eye, Archie Gemmill tank one into the corner and Pat Jennings going full length, but failing to stop the shot. Because he went feet first…
Painful memories.
Should win easily enough but no Welbeck please.
In other news, Conte and Mourinho’s spat … what a double act. The 21st Century Little (man) and Large.
1-1 score…. Sorry Holic
Blimey that’s a weakened team! Not much experience on the bench either. Let’s hope we have enough to get through first time
Is there anyone on that eleven who can consistently find a defense-splitting pass (ala Cazorla, Wilshere, Özil, Rosicky, Cesc) ?
We could find it difficult to open them up today if they sit deep.
Ospina, Debuchy, Mertesacker, Holding, Nelson, Elneny, Willock, Maitland-Niles, Walcott, Iwobi, Welbeck
Bench: Macey, Chambers, Osei-Tutu, Dasilva, Reine-Adelaide, Akpom, Nketiah
Youth and er, youth.
That’s a pretty ordinary team selection to put it mildly.
But of course, as usual
What an awful goal. Where’s the marking? I know that’s a hard one to defend, being whipped in, but there’s nobody anywhere near him.
We look hugely vulnerable at the back. We look hugely vulnerable with this team . Only Eddie gives us an option that excites me from the bench. We’ve got to look for the players to dig deep.
Good Old BFG!
Per doing it the ‘Welbz way’ ?
What a dive on the free kick though.
Still… 1-1 and get the fuck in.
Comical
Loving the little interplay’s between AMN – Willock And Nelson real positive signs for the future, Not so sure about our defending tho but then again that’s nothing new !!
That’s a pretty decent goal, but a weak clearing header
WTF was that, Welbeck?
A chance for Iwobi to impress the Forest manager today
My goodness this club is absolutely awful at defending! We look like conceding every time they come forward….and they are a bottom half Championship side. He is playing four at the back and it’s been a disaster. We will do very well to get a draw here. They certainly wouldn’t take a draw if you gave them one now
Mad Jens accompanies AW to the halftime dressing room. Will he be assigned to do the hair dryer treatment ?
Not sure a hairdryers needed just some fucking defensive organisation, Fuck only knows what goes on in training but no matter what personal what formation or who we are playing we cannot defend in anyway shape or form for shit.
Chippy
Spot on we seem to have no idea how to defend and no matter now big a problem it seems we do nothing about it. We are making the lad Brereton look like Messi. I’m gobsmacked by our defending this season and I can’t even blame Xhaka today?
We look ok going forward but appalling at the back, just for a change.
T’ain’t the system, ’tis the players selected in midfield that is a large part of the problem
We may be poor defenders but everyone in the squad has mastered the 45 degrees backward pass. Better than most inn Europe at that. Take some comfort.
Possesion and nothing to show for it, we are not good going forward either!
Almost got punished
Time for Nketiah and I’d take off Walcott
Hahhahaaaaaaa
This is on Wenger and his selection
What is he saving for??
Embarrassing stuff this.
Just throw the FA Cup in the bin with a dreadful selection.
Wenger should be sacked, but obviously won’t be.
Arsenal fans singing “We’re fucking shit” and it’s hard to argue
7:1 shots on goal for NF
Our ‘seniors’ are plain awful
Iwobi, Welbeck, Walcott, Mertesacker, Holding, Elneney, all been shit. If we really are playing a four, then the left back’s been a joke as well although I’m not so sure we are playing a four
Holding looks lost…..!
I say the left back has been a joke because he hasn’t been playing there all game.
If we’re playing a four.
Well he’s not going to be saved with an FA Cup win this year !
Fans singing “Were Fucking Shit” that’s an understatement ?
Let’s see if there’s any mental strength leftover..
Debuchy’s been ok, Ospina’s been ok. The rest have been fucking awful, young players included.
Jammy goal that.
We’ll take it.
Ten minutes to prove you give a fuck.
You know things are bad when Cynic declares Walcott as shit
No foul there, he tried to be clever with the flick header and totally missed the ball.
That’s not a foul
Fuck off, Moss.
I mean we deserve to lose, but not to shit like that
Jesus what are they doing
Moss is SHIT
Guess work by the referee on that foul
I actually think Debuchy got the ball… am i mistaken?
Shambles
That was a dodgy penalty…did he kick it twice?
BB he got it but not enough of it and took the payer out as well
Fair enough..but that penalty shouldn’t stand.
Awful refereeing as usual from Moss, but the damage had long since been done
Fucking usless!
In decline and this buyer another proof!
Why didn’t he fucking pass it?
Do you honestly think we have deserved to win this game Jesus folks let’s face it we are shit!
Should have squared it ffs. I don’t care if he’s a kid that was shit.
Whoever takes over eventually from AW has to declare a ten year moratorium on the phrase “mental strength”.
What a joke.
Shit team selection, worse performance, the referee was a cunt but he had a lot of competition from our lot.
ABJECT
We didn’t play well and didn’t deserve to win the game end off stop blaming the ref
The much better side won. Congratulations to Forest
Good to see Wenger take the cup so seriously, Walcott showed why he is out of favour, Our defence and midfield were a joke and there is no blame to the referee here, I thought both were penalties and we were completely outclassed and outplayed.
They quite simply wanted it more and we had nothing and nobody on the bench to frighten or impress, what a woeful woeful display yet again.
Did not deserve that second penalty but certainly did not deserve to win the game. Sterile performance.
Couldn’t give a toss whether we won or not, given the team selection, seems pretty evident.
What’s worrying is the utter lack of fight in the team, this will only accelerate when we lose Alexis.
More worrying is I don’t see anyone taking over from Arsene doing any better..unless we suddenly break the bank….
🙁
That was fun – So many bang Average players at the club that need to go but fuck knows who will be stupid enough to pay half decent money for them – A club with no direction or playing style, A Manager way past his sell buy date a CEO that’s gutless and an owner that’s the biggest issue out of the lot – We are fooked for the foreseeable. It’s Going to take someone a while to put this complete clusterfuck right.
We didn’t deserve to get anything out of that display. Moss was shit but outdid him with our play. Walcott did absolutely everything possible to convince Southampton not to sign him so that his comfortable existence at Arsenal continues. Did we have a midfield today? Elneny should have been the one to take responsibility of marshalling the centre of that midfield but he was running around like a headless chicken all game – showed no composure at all. The youngsters were trying to play quick one touch football, but Forest were quick to make tackles to not let them have their way. The injuries are hampering us badly especially not having Nacho and Kolasinac at the same time. But a starting eleven comprising of the premier league experience of Mertesacker, Debuchy, Walcott, Ospina, Welbeck, Iwobi and Elneny should be winning this game. Woeful performance especially when one considers we were defending champions.
This defeat hopefully means that we will play our first eleven against Chelsea now. Perhaps the only saving grace after this horrible game.
TTG @37. – “I’d take off Walcott”
It’s not difficult TTG – just fall over and look bemused. ?
Chippy @76. –
I wish I could disagree with a single word of that.
Sadly, I can’t.
Groundhog club.
Second penalty should not have been given and should then have been disallowed. We were already behind by then though.
Forest knew exactly what they had to do to beat us and did it.
That is sad.
I will take some solace when Holic reports. He brings a degree of sanity and proportion to the darkest moments …and this is very dark.
If I may BB I disagree re new coach. I think that this club has huge ability but we desperately need organisation and method throughout the side. Above all we must learn how to defend. I’ve been watching Arsenal for sixty years but I can’t remember a central defence that was so inept. Young Hokding looks like he has nosedived in form and confidence and what legs BFG had have gone. So we chose to play him in a four!
There were other nightmare performances but I will spare the young boys. They have every right to expect better from Walcott and Welbeck and Elneny who were all very poor. Walcott was beyond pathetic .
At times like this it is best to reflect with a degree of calm and detachment and we are all very angry at the moment. Whether the man in charge learns from this we usually recover from setbacks well. There are many people who feel that it would be better if we don’t recover if it forces Wenger out. The atmosphere was poisonous enough when we were winning the FA Cup . After this it will ramp up the pressure enormously on Wenger. But when has this ever led to change?
This type of performance just outlines the fact that our second string is not good enough to replace any of our first eleven. Iwobi, Elneny, Debuchy, Walcott should be sold ASAP I don’t know why we always hold on to these type of players when clearly they have had enough playtime to at list show a glimpse of some positives. Wenger keeps playing them with the same end result. We never learn do we?
When Ozil and Alexis jump the sinking ship it’s indeed going’s to get worse before it’s going to get better but for crying out loud let’s start now and save our season.
Utterly woeful. Apart from Ospina and Maitland the whole team should be ashamed of themselves. My Forest supporting mate i watched the game with was over the moon and could not believe a) our team selection and b) just how poor we were..
Not seen any of the game as I’m stuck at work. I’m guessing I don’t need to worry about away credits this year then? I’m also guessing that we now know exactly what Arsenal turned up?
Best I hit the delete button when I get home.
Wenger: Many times we got away with it not today
Q. So why the hell go with this team selection?
“The ‘holic pound
Some kind souls felt sorry for me and sent me a free bet this weekend so I am on a 0-3 win for the Gunners at 11/1”
Ha ha fucking ha you inbred cunts!
Now for AFTV….Comedy Gold! #LaughingStockOfWorldFootball
I’ll quote this as I know the original will be deleted, but … to the aptly named HaHaFuckingHa… the joke’s on you old boy. The bet was a FREE bet, so nobody lost a thing.
Apart from an FA Cup tie *ahem*
New Day – Sorry but Maitland-Niles was atrocious. If he was supposed to be playing left back or left wing back, he did zero defensive work all game, which is why Holding and Mertesacker ended up so often dragging themselves out onto that side of the pitch and getting exposed.
He’s only young and not suited to that position at all, so you have to blame the manager, but it still doesn’t excuse a truly pitiful effort at the defensive side.
They were all junk apart from Debuchy and Ospina, and they only really get away with it because they didn’t fuck anything up. They weren’t good, just ‘not as bad as’
That team selection was such a joke.
You have experienced players who never play expected to pick up the pace, and back up kids against a Championship team, away from home, in a cup tie when they will be well up for it.
He gave the senior players no chance (how can you pick Mertesacker, who has barely laced a boot for TWO YEARS, with more than an eye on retirement, and expect him to play anything like as well as he can?) and the same with the kids.
He had Iwobi as the creative midfielder ffs.
If players are “on the edge” physically, and that’s the excuse for not picking a stronger side, why not mix the team selection up a bit more over Christmas?
I honestly do not think he knows what he is doing any more (but have been saying as much for at ten years).
Genuinely thought NM was decent first half but did fade…trying to find positives where there really aren’t any tbh
Don’t worry old bean, all our problems are going to be solved when we sign the bloke who’s been playing at the heart of the defence for the team currently 19th in the league.
Classic 3rd round cup tie.
PL team travel to lower division side, who play at 100 miles an hour giving it 150% as if their lives depended on it.
Reference Bristol City against Man Utd in the League cup recently.
Our injury list doesn’t help, and i think that prevented the Boss from fielding a stronger side as he knows the pitfalls of these early Cup rounds against lower division sides.
No criticism of individual players, win as a team, lose as a team,so everyone takes ownership.
Bad day at the Office, and there will be a few more before this season is over.
Same old bullshit from Wenger he doesn’t answer to anyone so what is the point exactly?
It’s all well praising the opposition however protecting your average players is ridiculous, they will always be in their comfort zones.
I wish he could just say it and admit the fact he has not got what it’s takes any longer. Feel sorry for him in a way it’s heart braking.
The club needs to take a stance and sort this fucking mess out, I don’t give a flying toss who takes over I want change and I want it ASAP!
I don’t mind if we loose with the replacement guy I just want us as a club to at least try something else. I have had enough of same old shit being served by these so called talented bunch of guys. This was in a long time the worst Arsenal team I have seen with my own eyes and there ha been plenty of those recently.
Squad selection, tactics sucked out of a thumb! League positions speaks for itself. It’s getting worse and the club will do nothing about it!
Looks like Wenger went to the well once too often, and something like this was always going to happen at some point. Latest rumour is that Wenger will retire at season’s end in favour of Arteta, with Wenger pulling the strings from a comfy seat at the boardroom table. As the saying goes, out of the frying pan…….
I don’t think Wenger will be able to pull the strings especially if the new coach is worth his salt. The new men won’t allow it . Political upheaval is inevitable now and Wenger’s position is increasingly weak. Kroenke won’t be over to lap up the glory at Wembley in May in his stupid suit . He won’t like that
He might be over to lap up the glory in February instead, although if Wenger picks his cup team for the Carabao semi finals, we’ll get decimated on that showing.
Kroenke will listen to Wenger about the succession, as he won’t want a manager of the stature of Mourinho or Pep who would require massive investment in the team. Far better some unheralded coach, even someone from leftfield, without any clout, whom Wenger would approve of. Anyone who thinks Kroenke would go for someone of the repute, say, of Simeone, is deluding themselves.
Messrs Sanllehi and Mislintat might be a bit frustrated with their new jobs if that is the case
They’ve been hired to source bargains who wouldn’t cost the earth. Proven talent is mega-expensive these days, and ‘Diamond eye’ and Sanllhi are there to spot and secure possible stars of the future.
Jumping the gun a bit here, but Arteta would be a good appointment imo. Certainly a Premier League winning assistant this year under Pep’s tuiton, and possibly Champions League too? And would certainly be favoured by AW who brought him to the club on a panic-buy basis after the Old Trafford fiasco.
Why would Arteta leave a very well paid, cushy, job at City to come to Arsenal? If I was him I would stay put with an eye on taking over from Guardiola.
How does the saying go? If you can’t say something nice, say nothing?
Nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing, nothing…
…although I can’t resist pointing out that we were beaten by a team without a manager. Hmmm.
Both of whom were watching from the stand.
Have we bought anyone yet?
I should have known what was coming really, when I spotted that Groundhog Day was being shown again on Channel 5 today 😀
AW doesn’t know what he’s doing anymore, and we just have to get used to it until the change comes sometime in the next 10 years.
Yes, 10 years. Kronke will give him another new 2 year contract if he asks for it because we are still making money. Success isn’t important. Sod the supporters.
Ok I’ll give AW the nod on the fact that the squad has to be rotated to a certain extent, but it’s the way we play is just so utterly shit and cannot seriously be blamed on anyone else but AW who *has* to be the one that is given tactical instructions and team motivation talks.
Didn’t see the game as it wasn’t
live in Japan and so no comment
on the performance.
The result was certainly terrible and
I’ll annoy myself watching the
highlights after a day or two…,and
when the wife and kids are out as
it doesn’t seem to be family
entertainment ?
Clive@93: On the button.
Clive@93, quite right. Although it’s now called the Emirates Cup we can’t expect to win it every year!
Perspective needed. As many points as possible against the Cherries, Palace and Swansea this month, and things won’t be as gloomy.
why blame the team selection? werent they good enough atleast on paper to be able to beat a forest side without a manager and win less in i dont know how many games. We are talking about professional footballers who ply their trade for their national teams, almost all of them in some capacity.
Why was Per not let go after the FA cup final? Why is theo still here even after 11 years of shit, Iwobi can go to Nigeria and take dancing lessons from his uncle but he cant play for us. Welbeck is a joke and we were outdone by united on it ala silvestre.
Arsenal are in a limbo, no direction, no clue, manager resigned to acceptance and fans least bit disturbed after a loss for they have grown tired of this shit.
We need a rehaul, immediately should be CB’, DM and a GK. Summer a revamp of manager and his staff who do absolutely nothing than chew gum.
Disgusting people and to top it all, AFTV who were missing for sometime now have a field day and people lap it up.
The problem is we do not rotate as other teams do during the season, we don’t mix it up enough therefore when he makes so many changes we look week and clueless.
We wait until 75th minute or later for subs during PL games and don’t play those guys at all so this is why there such a massive gap between those lineups.
Another 16 months of this and probably even longer!
?
My earlier fears were well founded. We took Forest for granted and all of us who had seen this “Cup Team” struggle at home, knew that without a PL bench to bail us out if needs be, we could be in serious trouble and so it transpired.
We looked fragile all over the park and were given the run around by an 18yr old, Ben Brereton who was MOTM. Only Ospina who kept us in the game in the 1st half, came out of the match with any credit. Theo went missing the entire game and Iwobi and Danny failed to impose themselves on the game. The youngsters tried to play the usual pass/pass/pass game and were easily snuffed out by a more aggressive side who wanted a result more than us .
Arsene must take the blame for this debacle. The FA Cup was probably the best chance of silverware this season. Why rest all of the team who played against the Chavs when we have no chance of winning the league, these are professional athletes for goodness sake. I except we have a long injury list but yesterday only illustrates that we have inadequate back up squad players.
I wonder what sort of side will take the field at the Bridge this week. I have just turned down a free ticket offered by a one of the King’s Lynn Gooners who was in attendance yesterday and can’t face another dire game.
Can’t wait for Holic’s reflections on the Forest game!!
When we talk about perspective it would be well to remember that we played a Championship side who had one win in eight, and hadn’t scored in three games prior to us pitching up. All under the direction of a temporary manager.
Perspective?????
#113
Bang on – Watched this with my mate who is Forest through and through – Based on current form he gave them absolutely zero chance before kick off and thought we would easily put five or six past them.
Ironically they are one other club who know what it’s like to stagnate under a fading – but once truly great – manager who has hung around for a bit too long.
Sadly, super salient ones at 113 & 114 – GeniArsene’s long gone
http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/football/premier-league/arsene-wenger-arsenal-manager-splits-from-wife-annie-with-couple-not-together-since-june-10513503.html
Above article from September 2015, when Wenger legally separated from his wife. In it, Wenger is quoted thusly: “Ten years ago I said to my wife [Annie], ‘Five more years and that’s all’, and I am still here,” Wenger said in 2008.
If he was not simply lying to his wife in 1998, then he must have been convinced himself that he was planning to leave Arsenal in 2003. Psychologically that must be quite a turnaround, to still be at Arsenal 15 years later. Turnaround, exhaustion, and a recipe for the moribund.
“A recipe for the moribund”
Phrase of the day
And what happened in 2003/04 I wonder.
Oh yeah, that small matter of Invincibility.
I wonder sometimes if that was the worst thing that could have happened, in terms of Wenger staying well past his sell by date. Whether that season made him untouchable and perhaps made the man himself think he was.
Who knows.
What I do know is that he should have retired after that. How do you top it?
The Godfather part II syndrome
Afternoon
I agree with most of what has been said, we didn’t deserve a thing from that game. If I was the manager I would make the senior players who played yesterday watch the video of it and then tell them that’s why you don’t play in the first team !!
But most are of them are on the bench so that don’t bode well either, we cant sell players as no one will pay what we pay them what we pay them so they sit there and collect a huge wage for nothing. Debuchy prime example, how much money has this man been paid for knocking about in the reserves, until the EURO cup I forgot we had him.
Wenger is scared that he will let a younger player go and then turn into a super star under some decent management, so to counter act that he constantly gives out massive contracts to players who don’t deserve them and then they rot in the U23 until we get a cup game.
Our wage bill is huge and full of less than average players that AW seems to think will be the next Anelka, not going to happen.
Is it May yet ?
I want it to be May 2019…
He will still be here, whoever takes over in maybe 2033 they will have a massive amount of deadwood to get rid of.
Staggers me that Arsene has been paid almost £100m in wages since taking charge, he should be paying some of that back just out of respect to the fans

I am not an Iwobi fan, but this statement can be interpreted in very negative terms that have nothing to do with soccer.

I hope VAR is such a clusterfuck they bury it quietly in a snowy field, miles from anywhere, then mind wipe those who did the burial so it can never be found and used again.
There’s also something a bit odd about using it in ONE game in a competition round. It should be across the board or not at all.
