As I Was Saying
Apr 5th, 2018 by 'holic
Apologies for the lack of a conventional preview. This week I recorded another episode of A Bergkamp Wonderland podcast in which you will find the ‘holic pound for tonight. (Hint, it’s towards the end of the ‘cast).Thanks to Danny and Kris for adding to my complete and utter lack of knowledge about tonight’s opponents.
Wherever you are watching the match tonight, ‘holics, have a good one.

Bam! First
2-0 to the Arsenal tonight with Laca and Ozil scoring. I shall be there although the glut of fixtures ( I’m going to the Youth Cup semi as well) so close together after a long break might suggest to a more suspicious wife than Mrs TTG that I have a new woman in tow. She realises that no woman would be daft enough and that I wouldn’t give up Arsenal matches for a bit of slap & tickle.
Anyway enough of that . If we can keep a clean sheet tonight it will be vital because we have been effective away in the competition , a big contrast to our away league form which has been pathetic. We could also use the remaining league games to involve some of the bright prospects to keep the Europa team fresh .
2-0 seems a fair bet, be nice if
we could get one or two more.
No away goals from ridiculous
defensive errors would be a nice
change too.
@chris in the last drinks
fair enough…..but Ox did have some
very good games for us, with
the odd end product and sometimes
he even strung a run of a few
good games together. But never
that many, he either faded or got
injured. I haven’t seen any change
in that this season.
I’ve questioned the coaching myself
but to me the coaching has nothing
to do with Oxs problems.
I agree with Matt. Ox would have spells in which he looked like a world- beater. He was brilliant at home against AC Milan, he got a couple of very good goals v Palace a couple of years ago. He got a fine goal against Liverpool last season and a snorter v West Ham and I remember him winning the Charity Shield against Chelsea. He could never string a run of games together without getting injured. Against Sheffield Wednesday he came on as sub, did one sprint and pulled a hamstring.
I’m not aware of him being injured yet at Liverpool. Maybe their conditioning is better. After all Theo has yet to be injured playing for Everton.
But we have everyone fit other than Santi in April so miracles do happen!
Five posts and none for eight hours on the day of a European match says everything about the apathy among supporters
Not sure if I can wake up for the 01.30 ko here but I’ll try. A hatful of goals and a clean sheet would be very nice thank you.
Where are you Bath?
Evening all.
Team is strong.
Cech;
Bellerin, Koscielny, Mustafi, Monreal;
Xhaka, Ramsey;
Mkhitaryan, Wilshire, Ozil;
Lacazette
Subs;
Macey, Holding, Chambers, Kolasinac, Elneny, Iwobi, Welbeck.
2-1 to the Arsenal if you can’t be bothered to listen to the blog. ?
Actually, having seen that line-up I have changed my mind. I have backed 3-1 to the Arsenal at 12/1.
come on
I’ve had a small wager on Koscielney to get carded at 5/1
Feels like easy money to me.
Ramsey, get in!!!!
1-1. Great free kick. Kos’s stupidity lead to the free kick.
Almost 1-2. Wake up!
According to my missus, Arsenal are about as good as I am at keeping a clean sheet.
Laca scores from the spot. Ozil won the penalty. Two amateurish defensive units on the field.
Ramsey scores a beautiful goal, his second from a good buildup play.
That was special!
Mustafi is so slow, no recovery pace, more or less like Chambers.
Ramsey’s finish was a thing of beauty. We are going forward with a real verve tonight and the pace on the counter is a delight to watch. Ozil and Ramsey are playing beautifully ably supported by Laca, Mkhi and Jack…Xhaka has made some good defensive interventions as well. But they do look a threat offensively and the back four will need to be alert along with Cech.
Mustafi caused that goal by clearing the ball back into his own box.
Sometimes wonder what goes through his head in certain situations.
This is unexpectedly good.
Another great series of passes and Laca takes it beautifully. 4-1.
Could end up a cricket score here.
Really bloody good showing, this.
A great first half. Need to take this goal difference to Moscow.
Laca’s first touch for our fourth goal was exceptional followed by a fantastic left footed finish. The pace and combination play of the midfield and forwards has been sumptuous. A real joy to watch this performance so far.

Would have loved one more for the goal/diff but this is ok. Great game lads
