And how fucking annoying is the Stoke Chairman? A fantastic display of sanctimonious, patronising bullshit - an insult to anyone's intelligence. Yes, I'm sure Ryan's a lovely chap and spends his spare moments pressing flowers and helping old ladies across the road...

have just been listening to BBC radio5 and they say Aaron suffered a broken leg.........like he suffered a cold.......surely they should have said Aarons leg was broken by Shawcross. It seems as if to quote another blog ( love you Alan) that they have gone into Mugabe media lockdown as to what actually happened, how can we prevent it if the media is scared to say what actually happened.

'Holic by the way love the blog and agree so much with the original statement.....seems we dont like it up us and when on occasions we play the others at their own game we are immediately branded cheats, dirty or petulant. I suppose it just goes with being a gooner and supporting the club whos values and style you love.

The Good
Glenn Whelan for staying with Aaron and talking to him, holding him, assuring him. (some of our players should have been doing that.

The Bad
The media in general. Few journos stuck their necks out in support. Surprisingly Samuels from the Daily Mail and Lewis from the Mirror. Talkshite who really are an odious bunch of cunts say "it's all part of the game".

The Ugly
I don't need to describe that. You all saw it.

VitalArsenal has an excellent blog on the tackle, comparing Gallas' tackle and Shawcross', and going into the SALIENT point that the laws of the game CLEARLY prevent tackles that are made "in a manner considered to be careless, reckless or using excessive force" -- something that Shawcross specializes in.

Intent is completely irrelevant.

It’s probably too late in the day, and I’m still too furious to write anything coherent, but just to say your piece at 20.30 yesterday was possibly even better than your original report and says it all.

I haven’t read all of the overwhelming number of responses to this, so I may be repeating comments elsewhere, but can I just add that I really find it hard to believe that Dixon and Keown – 2 players for whom I have immense respect – are so desperate for work that they are willing to follow the BBC party line on this shit.

I cannot believe they would have subscribed to such views when they were at the club so why come out with this now? Shameful.
