Competition – Win A Campo Retro Shirt
Mar 30th, 2015 by 'holic
This week culminates in the visit of Liverpool for an important match in the chase for Champions League places next season. We have enjoyed some memorable matches against them in the past, and two of the most treasured Arsenal shirts in my collection are the yellow and blue one in which we won the 1971 FA Cup Final, and therefore double, signed by Charlie George. Also the yellow and blue with red piping in which Tony Adams lifted the championship trophy at Anfield in 1989, signed by Mr Arsenal, obviously.

To celebrate the run up to the match the good people at Campo Retro have come up with a wonderful prize for one lucky ‘holic. You can choose one of a wide range of Arsenal shirts which can be found by clicking here. Both of my favourites are included in the Campo Retro collection.

Evening ‘H.
Very tempted by the ’71 long sleeved home shirt – despite the possible colour clash noted by ‘er indoors ! 😉
There can be only one meaning of this story.

Argentina are planning to invade the Isle of Man. 😉
Hi Eandy in continuation to the previous post with regards to Alexis, no blasphemy at all, i agree that he holds on to the ball way to long and yes reminds me of Jack. During our games as well i see a sense of exasperation amongst our players when he doesnt pass. Yet for all that, as you say, he is a joy to behold and i pinch myself that we have him, Ozil and Cazorla playing for us at the same time.
December 31st, its that man’s day. Rocky is gone but never forgotten and for me everytime i read of what he did and how much he loved our club, i swell in pride and have a lump in my throat. Remember who you are and who you play for cannot be reiterated enough. Long live Rocky.
Have sold off all my old Arsenal shirts. I needed the money 🙁
This interlull is doing my brains.
Tumbleweed in here today.
Arteta, Wilshere, Flamini, Debuchy and Diaby (!!!) all played today in a behind closed doors match v Brentford.
hopefully it’s not “3 more weeks” for diaby.
I’d be more bothered if it was a case of “four more years”!
I think that Arsene will give him one year extension with option, he is firm believer in his ability and given the midfield options we have now, I would not be surprised if the option was a clause about how many games he has to play for the contract to prolong.
I just cant see him parting ways with Abou (although AW is much more ruthless in recent years than he was) without giving him one last chance in somewhat steadied team.
Optimist in me wants About to make it, realist in me says that he will, but not with us and it kinda makes me sad.
Where is Cape Verde..?!
Are portugal holidaying there??
😀
Sorry but Diaby is completely unable to sustain a career as a Premier League player Eandy, in fact he won’t make it anywhere he is just too fragile. It’s mainly due to that awful tackle on him by Smith but the boy is unable to play regularly at the high tempo football demands now. Wenger would be quite potty to invest further in him after the last three years.
Very good to see Debuchy coming back though. His injury against Stoke was not elaborated on by the media but if it had been him on a Stoke player…..?
Diaby is 28 and has played just shy of 200 senior games in his career. Many might be suprised it is that many. Monreal, who is nearest in age to Diaby among our squad, three months older, has played 274 sebior games. Both have 16 international caps, though it is arguably more difficult to get into the Spain team than France’s. Next closest to Diaby in age is Giroud, five months younger. He will play his 300th senior game against Liverpool, if selected, and has twice as many caps as Diaby. All of which is a way of saying that AW may have more cause to think that against all odds he can still get some value out of Diaby than we give him credit for.
But what is the chance, Ned, that the poor bugga collects an injury in the several games he will surely need to get match fit?
I thought it had already been decided not to extend his contract?
Öskar
It’ll just be our luck to see him leave for another club, play well, and never have another injury in his life!
Öskar
Brilliant post Ned @ 14.
Couldn’t agree more. I think from the managers perspective it comes down to a question of whether you believe in a players talent/attitude or not. Sure enough, Diaby has had a torrid time – but I can see no reason why we couldn’t structure some “pay as you play” deal for him (let’s be honest its probably about as much as he would reasonably expect elsewhere). I think he’s a fabulous talent and should be given every chance. And unless medical opinion says otherwise, I think Wenger will stand by him too.
