Happy Day After The Day After Boxing Day
Dec 28th, 2007 by 'holic
A mixed week I think you could describe that as. From a purely personal viewpoint I enjoyed a wonderful few days with a couple of the grandholics, and for the first time in years got to enjoy the wonder of a 6am start to Christmas morning! I hope the holiday season was good for you too.
The football news was not as positive. Just this morning I have taken the opportunity to watch the match at Portsmouth. We played in fits and starts again, but Portsmouth are no mugs, so the point wasn’t the worst outcome. The hopefully temporary loss of top spot, after leading the Premiership for so long, just took the edge off the cold turkey and pickles on Wednesday night.
With another testing trip to Goodison tomorrow, plus the upcoming African Cup of Nations, I was far more concerned to see William Gallas feel the full force of Sol Campbell’s challenge at Fratton Park.
Gallas I feel would be a bigger miss at this precise moment than Robin van Persie who is definitely out of the game at Everton. The skipper has been at the top of his game lately and has been leading by example. Up front we do have some options, and on current form it must be only a matter of time before big Nicklas Bendtner gets another start.
The game will not be all about Arsenal though. The blue half of merseyside have a tried and tested way of playing and their 4-5-1 will convert to 4-3-3 more readily in front of their own supporters than it does on the road.
Make no mistake this will be a stern test, although in seasons when we have gone on to lift the title this is normally a ground where we have secured the points. The ‘holic pound hovered over a one-one draw for some time before I convinced myself to be more positive. The 8/1 on offer at Blue Square for a 2-1 win looks too tempting. I may just have a couple of pence on Cesc Fabregas to open the scoring too!

Ah, no redesign here?
Hello ‘holic.
Hello Ollie. I’m indebted to others for this design so I am going to stick with it until it becomes a design classic!
It already is a design classic.
