Bac, You Can Stay As Long As You Like
Apr 17th, 2008 by 'holic
Short and sweet today. We are being linked with around two hundred million pounds worth of talent as the rumour mill goes into overdrive. Think about it, eh?
What was far more comforting to read yesterday was that Bacary Sagna sees himself being with the club for a long time yet. That cheered up both halves of the ‘holic household.
Me, I think he is going to prove to be one of Arsene Wenger’s best signings. He gives us a solidity down that side we have lacked for a while, and yet also offers a sensible attacking option. A fit Sagna I think is vital if Theo Walcott is to be given an extended run on the right.
His attitude too is admirable, having been through a great deal on a personal level after losing his brother. One would never have guessed watching his performances on the pitch.
The genuine delight his team mates showed when he opened his goalscoring account at Stamford Bridge tells you everything you need to know about his popularity at the club.
Mrs ‘holic likes him for an entirely different reason. “Nice eyes”, she said. I cannot do much about my eyes, but I may just pop into Sid, the local barber, and ask him what he would charge to sort me out some of those extension things.
Or maybe not.

Yea too many rumours linked to us anyway we sud be able to buy only one or two if Les Bos decide to use the 35 or whatever millions is available to him. Hope he spend it wisely. Cheers to Bacary as he is one of the few instant success in our team.
Tell Mrs ‘holic he also has a nice smile! But I also agree with your reasons to be happy that he wants to stay. He has been excellent this season and definitely has the right stuff for this team.
I love Sagna. Yay! best Arsenal player of the year.
Bac, You Can Stay As Long As You Like (as long as you continue your great form). Of course, if he was to dip in form, most gooners will be call for his head, ask Theo.
Looking forward to the new ‘holic haircut ! 🙂
Great comment Wally – Theo is great in the fans view one minute and slandered the next – how fickle…
I love Bac, his interview on tv was fab, he comes across a real ‘nice’ guy who loves football and is real happy at our club –
He is proof that teh boss does not need to buy big names, just big hearted good strong players who really WANT to be at our club and really WANT to play football, not just pick up a good pay slip.
Villa – yep of course i would love to see him play for us, but maybe the wrong price range, albeit the boss has said he will spend big for the right player – he paid out for Reyes – a gifted, talented footballer – but toatally the wrong attitude.
I thinks we will have two or three players bought at the end of the season – right at the end I hope, so we end the speculation quickly, and the players are in training all together….
2nd place finish for us,
Barca for CL – for Titi –
Everton to finish 4th…..
Liverpool to end up with F**K ALL – I hate them!!!! (bet they buy titi)
Liverpool to end up with F**K ALL – I hate them!!!!
I’ve said it for months – Sagna is The Best Buy of Last Summer no just for us but for the whole Prem. His quality, his commitment, his overall attitude – and his great hair. I sit near the pitch and he is Total Concentration, even when the ball is furthest possible from him. He has the same focus as The Prof. One major factor for our dip was losing him to injury. Can’t wait to have him back. And I say any player who looks only at his fat wedge should go if it’s only money that motivates him. How I miss those past teams who fought hard through season after season for the crest and the fans. It seems Villa wants to come because he wants to be an Arsenal player (and maybe turn down more notes in the pile than he’d get at the Chavs). If so, bring him on because that commitment is as important as his great quality.
And while I’m here, I have the need to thank Gentleman Gilberto for his contribution – his dignity during a painful season for him should be an example for every footballer.
Lanesra – i think Gilberto may stay you know, he would be an asset in his twilight years – his experience and example he sets in second to none, i think the boss may use him as he has done this year, but maybe more as cover at the back, look at Thuram, he is older, but doing well – we cant ever fault his commitment, and his attitude towards a ‘bit part’ has been very professional, compare his to Lasagne (yes i know i have spelt it wrong)
Bring on The Royals – my second team, as much as i dont want them to be relegated, we need this game, we need to a solid performance, many goals, and a pick me up to see us through the last games without anymore dropped points, and that will secure us second i hope.
Mancs to win EPL, dont want the russians
either that, or they both could yet get beaten three times and we sneak in and claim 1ST!!
Sagna can stay his whole career with Arsena…Just DONT ever cut your hair again…i think his one and only poor performance came after he lost the blonde dreds!
And he has the sense to immediately go back to the “dreds” unlike one certain striker. Ahhh, hair…… 🙂
‘Too honest’: yes, I’d love it if Gilberto stayed because he must be invaluable on the training ground. What a great example for the up-and-coming. But, he deserves more matches. Some say he’s now not reading the game so well – I say it’s our fault cos he never got consistent runs to sharpen his awareness on the pitch. He’s not Braz Cap for nothing.
What do you think about the hot rumour that Dennis is getting his badges and might come and coach with us? I’d love it. For me, our weakest area is in front of the pen box – where Dennis was a genius. Could he sort that out? While we wait for him, the Prof has to examine his tactics and stop all this aimless criss-crossing – everyone knows how to defend that…
Sagna has been magnificent since he arrived, without doubt, a future star. This guy has it all, remember how he comforted Eduardo as he lay there with his foot almost severed from his leg, and just after having lost his brother. He gives his all every game and, just looks as if he was made to play in an Arsenal shirt, definitely the best right back in the pl this season
