Unlucky Jens As Spain Triumph
Jun 30th, 2008 by 'holic
Congratulations are in order for Cesc Fabregas and his Spanish side that triumphed in the Final of Euro 2008.
Cesc himself is widely quoted talking about “a team of that quality, trying to play football and put the ball on the ground and create chances and play beautiful football, I don’t think I have seen any teams like that having success. Finally, football has the success it deserves. This the best day of my life as a football player.”
I hope he has the opportunity to repeat those sentiments in club colours next season.
Spare a thought though for Jens Lehmann, who kept Germany in the contest with a string of saves. If that was his international farewell it was good to see him bow out with a solid display after his earlier appearances in the tournament exposed the vulnerabilities that cost him his place at Arsenal.
I cannot let Monday morning pass without expressing my disappointment at the comments attributed to Emmanuel Adebayor at the weekend. Those of you who listened to Friday’s Arsecast will know that I felt the striker had every right to ask for more money, as long as he did it the right way, and as long as he understood Arsenal are under no obligation to accede to his request.
The right way is not to come out publicly and do his begging in the press. It would be a blessing if reports of offers around the £25 million mark were true. I don’t think anybody would expect us to turn down that amount of money for a player who has to prove this season he is not a one season wonder. I still doubt that is the case, and Adebayor may face an uncomfortable meeting with monsieur Wenger when training resumes.

Hello.
that’s right!Congrats to Spain and Cesc. They deserveed to be top .As for Ade and the silly Hleb ,just bye and leave~Saying drumming is boring and so damn..
Cesc? Fantastic. Great to see the best footballing nation come out victorious. Hopefully the same will be said about us come May 2009. Great to see Cesc have such a great influence on the tournament as well.
Adebayor???? One greedy bastard. His comments at the weekend, if true are an utter disgrace. He cares not a jot about the club or the fans. All he is interested in his his bank balance. Let some other club increase it then. In times when money seems to go a lot less further than it did a year ago for us normal folk, I am sick to death of hearing players like Ade moan and demand more. It is time that they realised what a privilaged position they are actually in and just showed that little bit of respect. The sooner he goes the better. Let Arsene bring someone in who wants to actually be at the club.
By the light .. of the slivery moon …
*takes refuge in a place where posting can happen*
*gets in F5ing contest with the aforementioned*
You will be F5ing a long time…
Another drink 😉
Everyone knows that 12 is where the 1st drink is.
Oh yes.
Random question here Holic. I’m just watching the last game at Highbury on Arsenal TV, were you at the front of the East Lower that day? I’m convinced I’ve just seen you giving a mouthful to a linesman!
Heh, yes that was me, front row Dutch. I am in lots of photo’s and the Farewell to Highbury footage as well. The great thing was I got to shake the hand of ‘Le Boss’ as he did his walkabout. I had a photographers dugout in front of me and only one stayed for the festivities, so I got as close as anybody to the fun.
Blimey, I still shed a tear or two when I think about that day. It will always live with me. Massively, I mean MASSIVELY, emotional.
