Keep Roight On To The End Of The Rowd
Mar 26th, 2010 by 'holic
St Andrews. The mention of the place brings mainly good memories, until 2008 that is. There is no point in going over old ground, It will just bring the Small Heath Alliance back. They loved this blog! Keep right on, indeed.
Part of the preview preparation is to go and read what the other bloggers are writing, but they are scaring the living daylights out of me so I have had to stop. Welcome to the world of a title challenge. One minute you are convinced we just have to turn up to win the remaining seven games, and then they loom large and you realise the enormity of the task that lies ahead.
I could make a very good case for the whole thing imploding at Birmingham. I fear I may have already done so in the week when I mentioned the fact that nobody in the current top six have won there this season, with United requiring an own goal to escape with a point while Chelsea failed to score there. I was just pointing out it would be very unwise to assume victory is ours.
Let me put the other side of the coin as succinctly as I can. This is Birmingham City 2010 we are talking about, not Brazil 1970! Alex McLeish may have done an excellent job there this season in hauling them up to ninth place, and they may be currently just nine points off a Europa League qualifying place, but if the real Arsenal get their act together we should secure a hard-fought win that will send a very big message to our rivals.
Arsene has already confirmed at his press conference that we will be going with the best available side, and so we should. I don’t give a monkeys who we play next. We have somewhere between nine and twelve Cup Finals left, and all must be approached with the mindset of ‘what do we have to do to win this next game?’.
I’m not even going to discuss the issue of who will play alongside Sol at the back. Whoever the boss decides is the right choice will be. I’m more worried about whether or not our squad will survive another difficult away game against a physical side intact. Just to emphasise what we have all said since Stoke, we have no problems with sides playing hard but fair. One man at Stoke overstepped the mark, as did one Birmingham player two years ago. There must be no repeat, and Howard Webb must clamp down at the first sign of over-enthusiastic challenges tomorrow, by either side.
We will once again have to dig in early on and earn the right to play our kind of football on enemy territory. An opposition midfield containing Lee Bowyer and Barry Ferguson is not geared up to play an expansive, intuitive, skillful game. They can be very easily circumnavigated though if we get the basics right and pass them to death with pace and accuracy.
What of the ‘holic pound? Did anybody really ask that? Alright then, Nicklas Bendtner spent some time on loan at Birmingham and would be a topical scorer. Not as topical as Eduardo, obviously, but I’m not convinced we will see the Crozillian on the pitch. I’ll go for the great Dane to strike first at a best of 9/2 with Paddy Power. That is the main pound, but I won’t be able to resist a small stake on Eduardo to score last (at the same odds currently). Hopefully he will be a bigger price after the team is announced.
So, as usual, if you are going then give it a lungful for ninety minutes. I know you will. I have a feeling the rest of us in the UK will be reliant on sopcast to follow events live. Let’s hope we will be back after five on Saturday discussing Premiership win number seven on the bounce. That would be significant, I think.
Thank you ‘holics
I have to say thanks to you all for the great response to the last piece. There was much swelling of the ego here. I will have to try and put some more historical stuff in the blog.
More than that I have to thank those of you who have booked your Armoury Square stone, or stadium tour, through the links on this page. You will now be seeing the Easter soccer schools being promoted. A mate of mine, not a Gooner I will add, sent his lad on one of these courses last Easter and both raved about it afterwards. It might be something worth considering if you are wondering what to do with the kids during the school holidays.

A very balanced piece ‘holic.
If Arsene can equally convey the (relative) size of the task to the eleven who take the field we should come away with 3 more points.
If any manager in the league can convince those same players that the Barcelona match means nothing until this task is completed I think it’s Wenger. Something we never discuss is whether AW is a better man/squad manager than he was 4,6 or 10 seasons ago. I think he is – this is the first squad that is 100% his that shows the determination I love to see.
Keep the faith…back tomorrow for a pint!!
‘Holic – you’re right. It’s Birmingham, not Brazil.
We need to keep our bottle – as last week I’ll settle for any winning scoreline including a last minute OG that deflects of Edu’s backside.
Come on Arsenal!
Second those sentiments Holic reading the comments on the last post was a lovely trip down memory lane just spent an hour going through them all and it was a joy,
It always amazes me what things people remmeber, sometimes they seem so un important to others but mean the world to who the memory belongs to and once you hear them it can quite easily take you back to that same day and same match !!
Im not sure youve ever done it and you may well have already gone down this route but a piece about your 5 greatest Arsenal victories and defeats would be a lovely topic starter,
On to tomorrow we are not the only ones with a tough game Chelsea and United certainly wont have 3 points handed to them,But ill go for a nice 3-1 away win with Cesc grabbing the first,
Up The Arse!!
This is one of the games I really do look at the bookies for. I can not, just can not, get my head around it meself. One minute I’m “of course we’re going to win”, the next I’m all “We’re fucked. This run has got to come to an end soon, this is football, the better team doesn’t always win and a draw doesn’t cut it”. I mean, the unbeaten season was great, but unbeaten isn’t enough at the moment, is it? It’s got to be the win.
So I’ve just had a little look at the bookies. We’re around 3/2 to win. A bit of that is the bookmakers cut, so you can rule that part out. But that’s it mates. They aren’t bookies for nothing. They want our money right, and they generally have a good idea.
So yes. The bookmakers say we will win, but they also say that we might well draw or even, even if it’s not likely – lose.
I’m up for it. The players will be up for it, I’m sure.
Let’s prove the bookmakers right.
Up the Arse!
Good preview. I’m backing the ‘holic pound to be another little earner for you.
And today, I’ll just have, well, the finest drink you can offer me.
Cheers, big man!

A balanced undertaking of the project at hand should give us a deserved 1-2 victory….just like your blog ‘holic!
Keep on believing! 🙂
A cool Red Stripe for me please barman.
Yours is on the house, Ollie. Happy birthday to you.
‘Holic,
Suprisingly confident about this game considering the form we’re in, and more importantly the form Birmingham aren’t in. Focus and determination are key and that’s why Campbell has to start for me. Like you said they’re not going to be expansive with good movement or pace so Sol shouln’t have a problem, Barca is another story…….
Only read the noth bank post there ’twas a fantastic piece altogether. Reminds me of lansdowne road in it’s prime. Since Trapatoni took over he’s made a point of commissioning one side of croke park (we’re returning to landowne road this summer) to fans who only want to chant and sing and there’s rarely seat used for it’s designed purpose down that end it really helped the atmosphere in our home away from home in the world cup qualifiers. A point for Mr. Gazidis I think!!
Nice piece Chippy its funny how the silly things that come back to you when prompted by a great blog, hear hear to more blogs like yesterdays.
On the game tomorrow, I feel quietly confident that we will come away with a victory. I believe it will be 1-0 in a hard fought midfield battle. By no way do I think it will be a turn up and get the points and walk away laughing. Every ounce of determination and ability from the team will be needed to win this. The Brums form hasn’t been the same as the start and mid season of late. However a slight drop in form for any team is replaced with sheer determination when it comes to facing the best footballing team in the land. We beat the Arsenal is always a great Monday morning talking point around the UK when it happens, so we must be focused on Birmingham and nothing else.
We must go into tackles thinking about winning the ball not I dont want to get injured before the Barca game. If we take this mind set we will loose.
I am fully confident that Arsene has the team focused on Birmingham and nothing else thats why I think will walk away victoroius. So heres to a good victory and no injuries to repeat 08 horror show.
Think you’ll find the NEC’s not actually in Birmingham mate. It’s outside the city perhaps you mean the NIA?
I can’t believe it. I have actually had to give my ticket away for tomorrow’s game due to work commitments. How pants is that. I have mixed memories of St Andrews. I was there in 2008 and it was probably one of the strangest atmospheres and feelings I have ever known at a footie ground. I was also taken to a game many moons ago which ended 1 all. It was memorable to me for the reason that there was more than 90 mins between the goals. Tony Woodcock scored for us in about a minute. Birmingham equalised in the 93rd. Bonkers really.
I agree with you totally holic. We do not face Brazil tomorrow. Birmingham have had a great season and deserve praise for that, But we are The Arsenal and we are going for the title. Play like we can and with the spirit we have shown in recent weeks and I feel good vibes. They will be up for it and we need to get on top from the start. I fancy a 3 -1 to the Gunners. Eddie with the 3rd.
One interesting fact I have just read in the Mail that deserves an airing to all of those who have to work/mix with Spuds. Did you know that since the year 2000, they have played a total of 61 league games against Us, the chavs and the mancs? They have won 3???? Big club? My Arse.
Yesterday’s nostalgia trip was a great read. So much so that I am now going to settle down with a nice bottle of red and stick Quadrophenia on. Mods Rule.
Keep the faith.
Very well put Holic, I’m glad its friday and yet again we are going to watch our beloved Arsenal I can’t wait.
Tomorrows game is a massive task as you pointed out that they have not lost to a top six this season at home as yet, also we know it’s a must win game if we are to chase the tiltle and finally we all know what happend there in 2008.
However let’s not dwell on what happend to Eduardo at St. Andrews last time around, lets think about the title and be 110% focused on this game tomorrow.
I hope Howard Webb will be on top of his game tomorrow, somehow I feel he tends to let us down too much, hopefully he can prove me wrong.
To be honest with everyone I would rather have Silvestre on the left CB and have Song in the midfield it gives us a lot more options in building our attacks, plus he will be much better at defending in that position too. If Silvestre drops in the game we can always re-shuflle a little bring in Denislon and move Song to CB?
It’s just a thought and not a silly one to me.
Barman I’ll have Zobrowka with ice and apple juice please and whatever is everyone else having!
Arsenal 71, I know mate after reading it all earlier ive had some bizarre moments flashing through my head today from El Pel falling of the stretcher to 2 old boys standing behind me and the old man in the clockend pulling each others legs for the whole duration of a game dont think they watched a minute of the match but it was mid 80s so understandable 🙂 I still remmeber one of their jokes/questions to the other who was the only royal to play for England the other guy is this a joke? No says his mate, are you sure, Honestly? they went back and forth for 20mins before he gave the answer as Joe Royle that was it his mate went of on one i thought you said it wasnt a joke and off they went again very funny at the time lol
I tell you if someone put all the old thoughts of fans and memorys into a book it would be a best seller,
Changing topic slightly it does look as tho that retro shirt may well be next seasons home shirt and what a step in the right direction that would be !!
Quick black russian and of to bed for me Laters all.
What gives me additional optimism is that Birmingham played midweek. The game was close, and the scoreline fluctuated. By all accounts, a sapping affair.
For that matter, if I dare mention that whose name cannot be said until after the Birmingham game, Barcelona will have played three games in a 10 days when they visit the Emirates. that gives me some additional hope as well.
Thanks to Sam Allardyce’s strategy of outkicking the opposition, Birmingham has nothing left to fight for. They are already safe from relegation and they are 7 points with 1 game less to play from the 7th which is the last possible spot for Europa League. On the other hand we’re fired up so it may be a very tough game but in the end I can’t imagine how they won’t cave in, even at home. And as usual the best 12th man will be with us!
That said they are a kicking team, Ferguson crocked some Blackburn guy last week and surely will look forward to attempt the feat again so our midfield better be warned.
As Chippy observed we can also entertain the hope that Chelski and United will drop points this week-end in their derbys. It’s a good time in the run-in to grab the 2nd spot for good.
My condoleances to Steve T btw, that must be grating…
Despite my wow of sobriety I had a bottle of Georgian white wine yesterday which turned out to be of the quality that does not have an adverse impact the next day, luckily. Hence one tiny shot of bourbon tonight. Or two 😉
“One minute you are convinced we just have to turn up to win the remaining seven games, and then they loom large and you realise the enormity of the task that lies ahead.”
You said it brother. Taking the heat/history out of the game with an early goal would be nice. Following it swiftly with another, rather than not troubling Hart until we absolutely have to, would allow us to play with more freedom. All that said if we struggle to break them down I am confident we can strike late for the win, mostly because this team has proven adept at it so much of late.
I am a strange mix of nervous and confident, similar to that experienced before matches against Man United. Similar, but not the same.
Jameson 12 please, full to the brim with ice.
Of course I would have work till 11:30 last night after school and end up missing one of the best sessions of drinks yesterday.. a Bulmers to cheer me up please barman.
Good stuff ‘holic. Suppin’ a Tiger.
Surely that is a big pussy, Esso?
By the way, seen this?

RT @arseblog: Great blogging from Goonerholic – http://bit.ly/aeB20F << Agreed, why is the 'holic not on Twitter? 1 day ago
From East Lower. You need to catch up with the younger generation.
‘Holic, did you get a chance to see my latest email? If so, what do you say, it’ll be really helpful knowing recommended places to go and stuff…
Esso, thanks. Twitter? I’ve only just conquered the fucking electric can opener for fucks sake!
Snir, I’m on my way. Forgot to check mails when I got back from the pub. Sorry 😉
Don’t worry about it… 🙂
About the match, I’d be lying if I’d have said I’m sure of our victory. This game gives me the creeps – On the other hand so did Stoke away and Hull away so I think I’m just too cautious.
As said earlier – Birmingham’s strength is in defence and there isn’t a defence in the world capable of shutting us down (not even Chelsea’s – just you wait for the rematch with Chamakh and RVP ;)) when we’re on our game as we have been over the last couple of games.
In my oppinion Diaby is gonna be the focal point of this much and get either an assist or a goal which would carry the team.
I’m really relaxed about our defence as Clichy has been awesome since Stoke, and Sagna is great too and of course Alex and Sol would give us peace and quiet. All we gotta do is to break their defence which should be hard but not impossible.
A pint of Carling – As usual! (Here’s to a pint in real life next week!)
Evening All.
I was away again all week, Just caught up with the previous blog which was excellent, on matchdays me and my mate used to get in the stadium arond one o clock to stake out our spot in the middle of the North Bank on the level above the gangpath, aah the good ol days.
Looking forward to tomorrows game, I honestly couldn’t give a monkeys if the bookies think we’re favourites or not, I’m confident that our lads have got what it takes to bring home the points. I know it sounds cheesy, but I really do believe that the spirit in the team is the major factor that will help us over the line.
Speaking of spirits, a vodka shot for me please barman, next to a nice pint of lager.
Cheeers.

All of my Brothers are going to the game. They’re taking their Brides with them. Starting last Sunday, they’ve been counting down the days. They’re Samurai my brothers and quite Magnificent. Never been guilty of a Deadly Sin in their lives. Big lads they are, not little fellas and not one of them is Dopey, Sleepy or Grumpy. They’re definitely not Bashful when it comes to liking a drink. Some have said they could drink Seas – of Rye and whisky. For me, each is one of the Wonders of the World and I wouldn’t swap them for anything………..except maybe three points at St. Andrews.
St Andrews, place of my birth, home of the magnificent game; jewel in the golden mantle fringing the magnificent, wonderful, Kingdom of Fife. How the hell did it suddenly find itself recreated in a small (minded) town in the English Midlands? Final resting place o’ yon McLeish, one time poacher sent into a life of misery in exile; Ferguson the F*cker and MuckFaddy the muck raker .
Will it be Seventh Heaven. Will it be Seven Rooms of Gloom. Will we be living as kings like Freddie and Queen? Or will we be spinning like Levi and the Four Tops?
It’s the toss of the dice, a 4 and a 3, or a 6 and a 1. It’s the number on Rosicky’s shirt. It’s Seven games to go as the The Arsenal continue the countdown, as The Arsenal take the final 7 steps on the ladder, as The Arsenal work Eight Days a Week for one more win on the road to two. The League. The Champions League. Glory.
I’d leave Eduardo at home with Willie Gallas’ calf muscle. They’re both much better off watching game on the box than boxing themselves into the memories of a recurring nightmare. Cesc, Denilson and Diaby, with Nasri, Bendy and Rosicky up front would be my pick. Russia’s finest haircut can come off the bench if he’s needed. Let’s start with workers from the start.
The magnificent Eboue, attacking comet, capable crosser and MuckFaddy’s master for me at right back. Oh yes, and Alex Song to make the defence sing.
Away win, brothers, for all seven of you and your brides. Enjoy!
Seven stiff fingers in a pint glass please, barman.
Seems I can’t do much on Twitter anyway Esso, since somebody else has the Goonerholic handle. Shame that…
… whatever it is…
…and why would I need Twitter when BtM is here 😉
Steve T,
This is the real me. Are you the real you? If not, who are you?
It would appear I am now on Twitter as TheGoonerholic. What the fuck that means I do not know. Perhaps someone who is not a complete and utter Luddite could tell me?
BTM,
I have no idea. I am still trying to get my head around Holic’s electric can opener. What is that all about???….
There were loads of Pete Townshend lines I was going to come back to you with but ended up with so many that I lost count.
Keep the faith.
You mention Pete, Steve, I was listening to Daltrey this afternoon on the Steve Wright show, talking about the Teenage Cancer Trust shows they are putting on at the Royal Albert Hall. I would love to see the Who one last time.
Anyway, time for rest.
Laters ‘holics…
Holic,
The Who are doing Quadrophenia at this years TCT gigs. They have done this twice before and it has always been followed by a full tour. Keep your eyes peeled. It would not surprise me one bit if further shows were to follow.
Blackburn beat them in midweek, after they lost last Saturday – statistically very strong at home but they don’t score many, maybe they could be running out of puff and they have little to play for – Cesc and Diaby could be the difference, I think
any1 know a good norf london boozer for those cheeky 3pm kickoffs?
(preferably near crouch end/stroud grn/finsburry)
Holic, this was one of the best blog posts ever. it got my heart pumping and my hair stand up. wish i was old enough and here in London during that golden time. i’ve been a gooner all my short life and looking forward to seeing The Mighty Gunners in flesh (As soon as i afford it). This is the main reason i’m here in London, the education thing is just an excuse for my family.
A double pint for me.
My little toe says Diaby to score at least one tomorrow. C’MON ARSENAL!
Being a non drinking man I shouldn`t be making comments on this site but, after serving in the navy many years ago I`ve mixed with enough piss pots to qualify for one comment at least.
Putting the demons and the warlocks aside Birmingham City are not a bad football side otherwise we wouldn`t be at all concerned about the outcome.
I would be surprised if foul play is the topic of the day but I must add that Taylor moving on will help both him and Eduardo, so the issue will not arise. Arsenal will win this encounter after a hard day at the office. Based on that I`ll break my code and have a large malt…..one lump of ice.
Cheers!
COME ON YOU GUNNERS!!!!!! WE CAN DO THIS!!!!!!!!
By FAR the greatest team…..
can’t wait!
Morning chums.
Woken by a bloody delivery of a radiator for the witch-in-law. On a Saturday! I ask you.
It would appear I am now on Twitter, as TheGoonerholic, because Goonerholic has been thieved by someone in the far east. I still haven’t a bloody clue how it works, and apparently it won’t work on my mobile phone (so what is the point?)
If anyone has anybody really good to follow I would appreciate your tips. Cheers.
The Who, A legendary band who`s lead singer is a gooner. Ahhh the good old days when you could smash up your instruments and park your car in your pool and it was called Rock N Roll. Best track ever ( We wont be fooled again )
Twater & Fuckbook dose anyone really care about hunting down people you never liked in the first place.
I would love to help Holic but this electric can opener you speak off it sounds like witch craft if you ask me.
Apparently I can tweet from the moby, so that funny incompatibility message must have been something to do with an app that doesn’t work with the phone or my network. I really should register for things when I’m sober 🙂
Holic: I guess your conquering Twitter, with our without the extra The in your name, makes it IGFC 1 Social Networking Technology 0 (IGFC being of course Inebriated Grandpas Football Club)
Good blog `Holic.
I really think we will put them to bed in this one.
Birmingham? Do me a favour, they are going to get a good lesson in the art of football.
Keep blogging/tweeting
electric tin opener?

try this
Thanks
Fucking gametime boys… Hooooahhh
WEBB what a cock!!!!???
Who is not surprised that what looks like two Brummie dives have got us bookings, and yet consistent fouling has not got Brum any
Webb is such a bad ref, I literally shudder everytime he has one of our games
How did he not book Bowyer!!!!???????????
Come on Nasri what a GOAL!!!
Wow. What a moral braker.
I’m still hopeful but we really have no choice but to beat both Spurs away and City at home. If United’s gonna beat Chelsea at OT I’ll really start to doubt it…. 🙁
what a bad game Almunia had and what a terrible finish to the game
For me , Rodzisky and Theo should have been replaced sooner and then Chelski score 7
Off 2 drown my sorrows with a bottle of local brew
Bring on Barca it can only get better
Gutted…but still hopeful…we only played well for 25 mins….resting Nasri ahead of Wed.? Should have played our best 11
Villa…thanks for nothing…..
keep the faith….more ups and downs still to come
Wow Almunia costs us again, who’da thunk it.
Arsene got everything wrong in this game from the team he picked to the tactics, The first I realised Theo was playing was when he got subbed, and why take off Rosicky as he was getting better as the game wore on, and having missed a really good chance, Andre then tries to do everything on his own and loses possession and gives away a free kick, but what the hell happened to our defending on just a long punt, If this was Wengers idea of our strongest side, then he is more naive than I thought.
Hugely disappointing game.
piss off drapedindarkneas.. like matt said we don’t need people just coming to bash wenger with one subpar result.. go join your buddies at le groan. we’re all extemely gutted …
TWO F*&^#&#*$&ING MINUTES!!! Oh that fucking hurt. After Webb denying Diaby and then Nasri’s bit of brilliance…. fuck. Oh, and CLASSIC referring from our man Webb. Should give him a fucking medal… cunt. One yellow late in the game for Carr!? Fuck off.
We know Man U and Chelsea will drop points- we need to come right back and put up the pressure. There’s many weeks left, boys.
Just back from the game (exiled Gooner living in Solihull).
Absolutely gutted. Wasn’t a classic game, but up until the Nasri and Arshavin subs, we were average.
After Nasri scored, Arshavin had a gilt edged chance to seal the game. In real fairness, I think a draw was a fair result, considering there were a few players that didn’t show today.
Anyway, I think there will be a few more twists and turns to come.
Just a final word on the travelling Gooners – you were magnificent today singing the boys on.
Keep the faith
Come on you Gunners
Wow, feeling devastated. Absolutely crushed…but trying hard to keep things in perspective. My heart’s starting to lose a bit of hope but my head’s telling me we’re not out of this yet, and it’s definitely a time to listen to the latter.
What a horribly officiated game. Howard Webb is having such an abysmal year. I could have sworn we were playing against eleven Drogbas, the way they were going down in the first half. I still don’t understand denying the Diaby goal, it was too loud for me to hear anything. I assume it was a foul called on Fabregas? If so, I’d like someone to look me in the eye and tell me with a straight face that if someone had tackled Cesc or Samir like that there’s any way in hell it would have been called. Nonsense.
Regardless, nothing to do now but keep our heads up, support the boys and stand behind Arsene. Crushing day, but at least at the end of it, we’re still the Arsenal, and they’re still shit.
Nothing a couple Bud Lights can put you into perspective. I’ve calmed down now and realize that the only reason this day hurt 5 x more than usual is because of Arsene and Cesc factors. Cesc wants to win trophies now and this hurts. I am by no means saying that he will leave this summer, as I believe he will definitely be here another year atleast, but if we had won this result, ANOTHER possible season defining moment would have built up massive momentum for the rest of the season, and eclipsing this year’s title race would almost have assured Cesc stays here for eternity. But as Steve T always says, keep the faith. we are not out of this yet by any means. A draw between Chelsea vs United would be ideal, and after that ANYTHING can happen. As someone else said, there is still SIX games to be played! Many points can be dropped, and I still believe it will come down to the wire. Hopefully this season is not filled with “what could have beens” for our players, manager, or fans. I want to cheer on our boys in the WC knowing that we won a trophy and get excited for next season. We’re still in this… NEVER BACK DOWN.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cGpt8gbH2hY
This cheered me up a little = ]
Heh. Every time I see Cesc make that run against Sp*rs, I think “Hmm. Maybe this season was alright after all…”
The title of this article sums up what went wrong .Nasri should of taken his second goal of the season but decided to try and pass to a non existant teammate and Almunia started thinking about, what he should of got over, half way through the second half.
Anyhow we’ve only drawn away to Brum where neither the chavs or manure have done better. We’ve taken 22 points from a possible 24 in our last 8 matches. And we’re the greatest team the world has ever seen.Bring on Barca we’re gonna mullah them.
Ricard before dinner and whatever everybody else wants, you do accept credit cards don’t you?
nasri’s 2cd goal of the match that should have been
for those of you who have never seen Arshavin defending
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WKklu8CgqS4&feature=related
Gutted. But then everyone is human
Truely deflates the weekend. But, we’ve got to stay positive. It was always going to be a “battle” to win it, now it is a “bigger battle”. Yes we’ve got to go on a perfect run from now on and stand up and give it one, massive push. The minor, minor margin for error has gone and now we go for it against teams we can beat. I’d say Birmingham was the toughest of the run because they’re decent and defensive trite.
Need a elephant size box of Kleenex. Choked about how we conceded so late on.
There will be more twists in this run in so lets not hit any panic buttons just yet. Everyone knew this could be a banana skin in our games left but looking on the bright side it wasnt a defeat. So the unbeaten run still continues.
4 points the difference and Chelski and Manure still to play each other. It wasn’t our best display but the Brums know how to spoil a game and the stop start whistle blowing of the retard Webb didn’t help.
This man should really be reffing Sunday pub match`s and that is no slight on pub teams.
However
I believe in Arsenal
*waits for opening time*
Chicago, no need to be an ass, I’m allowed my opinion as much as you are allowed yours, but we really do have one system, and its attack attack attack, when the players are not up to much as todays game showed we are a very poor team, I still think we are the bet attacking team in the world, Yes even better than Barca, But we have lost that sharp edge and we are getting more and more blunt, you cannot keep losing players to injury and expect brilliance from those that come in as cover, For me Arshavin has been poor which we can attribute to the injury he is carrying, Walcott had another anonymous game.
Show me Wengers tacctical genuis over the last few years and I will bow down and admire it, His record is awesome for the first half of his tenure with Arsenal but appalling for the latter half.
But for Lehmann getting sent off in the CL final and everything could be different, But Wenger stuck by him even when he was having a shocking season, Well guess what both of our top choice GK have had shocking seasons too, and Wenger still persists in sticking with them, Everybody and his blind mother knows we need a truly top notch keeper, well everyone but Wenger, His bullishness brought us results in the past by sticking to what he believes is right, but the PL has changed monumentally since he came to Arsenal and we need a mix of experience and youth.
The current Arsenal squad has too many players who do not or cannot perform week after week to a high standard, This can still be our season, but we just let it slip a little out of our hands, we’ve not dropped it yet and blown the chance, but we’re hanging on by the very tips of our fingers, I’ve stated many times on here in the past that I like Bendtner, he has a great attitude and just the right amount of arrogance, but is he a PL star, No, not in my opinion.
Eduardo was, but I kind of think he is never going to return to what he was, either through a mental block or through an understandable change in his fitness level affecting his performance permanently.
Of all of our current squad, how many do you think would fit into another team challenging for the CL?
I’m always going to be a gunner, But it does not mean I have to be blind to the failings in the team.
Right fellas,
I’ve no problem with disagreements, and you all argue your cases well, but I won’t have personal abuse here. OK?
That is what makes other places a chore to be in sometimes and I won’t stand for it. It ends here.
Cheers.
DrapedinD I may have jumped the gun a little. Of course everyone is entitled to their opinion, that’s the point of blogging. I’m just tired of seeing wenger bashers come in herebyhe first time a bad result comes along.
