Can We Shuffle Off Having Relieved The Mortal Coyle Of The Points?
Sep 23rd, 2011 by 'holic
Bolton at home. It’s not a fixture that normally gets the pulses racing, if we are being totally honest. I never had the pleasure of sitting behind Fat Sam, which might have made it more entertaining. These days they are managed by that nice young man, Owen Coyle. You can’t get upset with him now, can you?
Bolton’s organisation, their competitive spirit, and Kevin Davies flying elbows and late lunges usually make this a bit of a bind. As we search for form and confidence there are preferable opponents to face. So why does this game feel different? Well, personally I am looking forward to meeting a few ‘holics for a little light refreshment before and after the game. One or two new faces always adds to the day, and I’m told that Lars credit card limit would have sunk many an Icelandic bank, so the cost of the beer and malt is sorted!
There is also the fact that, Davies and the odious left-back Robinson aside, Bolton are a little easier on the eye under the aforementioned Coyle. They, like us, have started poorly, but at this stage I will refrain from joining the ‘this is a six-pointer’ bandwagon. It isn’t. It’s three points we desperately need to start climbing the table, and if we apply ourselves early on we can ‘earn the right to play’. In game six of thirty-eight both teams are looking for the win to get them back on track.
The only decision Arsene will have mulled over when selecting his back five will be Gibbs or Santos at left-back. The Brazilian is the likeliest starter. Hopefully Koscielny will have warned Mertesacker to take a good photograph of his nose tonight, so he has something to compare his new schnozz to after Davies has finished battering it.
The midfield and wide berths will provide much more soul-searching for Le Boss. Both Ramsey and Rosicky are fit to return, and likely to challenge Frimpong, Coquelin and Arteta to support Song. I suspect Ramsey and Arteta will get the nod, although I personally would find room for Coquelin after the midweek League Cup tie. On the flanks Walcott and Gervinho will probably get the nod from Arshavin and Oxlade-Chamberlain. Again, the latter would have been called up if I had anything to do with it. The skipper is a given up top.
I asked on Twitter if anybody had any good tips for the destination of the ‘holic pound. The variety of unlikely outcomes I received made me feel happier about some of my wilder predictions. I’m actually winding my neck in for this one, surprised at the value I see in odds of 15/2 against a 2-1 home win offered by Bet365 and Victor Chandler. I’m on it.
So all that remains is for me to fill in my Network Card application form, charge up the phone and hPod, and book my taxi for ten past eight in the morning. I’m told the boozing starts at eleven, and I wouldn’t be much of a host if I wasn’t there on time, would I?
Have a great weekend all. I’ll be back with a report when I have recovered from being “zico’d”.

Well, I’ll take the first drink then.
I hope you weren’t F5’ing, Ollie π
And I’ll have the second please ‘holic, of course one for your good self and one for Ollie!
Have a good one tomorrow ‘holic gang.
Not quite, ‘holic.
I know activity has been minimal some evenings, but sometimes when I see no more drinks on the previous drinks, I suspect there might be a new blog.
Especially as I saw you were home for food! π
Generally, I check it after I see you appear on the arses, but for once, I happened to check this page before that! :p
Cheers, Geoff!
I tend to need hydrating after flight….sounds like you”re the man to arrange it Mr Holic.
Ollie, will have one in your honour tomorrow.
COYRRRs
I wonder what odds we are to keep a clean sheet? Loooooong I would imagine π
Please do, zico!
I have to say that taking the train home after session is doable but I certainly wouldn’t fancy having to fly back.
I would have probably been refused access on board, for instance, if I’d been flying post Stoke-snow game last season :$
Hino please hol here’s to 3pionts,have to say I’d like to see the ox get a bit of playing time tomorrow after seeing his highlights from the cc game the lad looks good and strong for 18.hope u all enjoy the game and the pints look forward to game report as ever.
I would have thought 2-1 a likely outcome but something seems less likely about it now … π
Any odds against Coquelin to score?
Heh!
Wise man bt8b, wise man π
8/1.
Save your money…
Good evening sir. Enjoy your pints tomorrow. I’m heading out to the pub now for multiple pints o’plain. I shall raise a glass to you.
Heh Holic ,
Great preview . 3-1 has a certain ring to it and that’s where my spare pennies (savings due to Lars’ credit card) will be going . Think your team is right , but I , like you , would like to see Coquelin to give us a bit of extra bite and the Oxcart to provide some pzazz on the flanks .
Thanks for the BTA strapline . *heads for the hills* π
Pint of the Black stuff please and one for yourself .
Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow , as long as I manage to avoid the clutches of the pursuing legal armies !
Memo: Prof TES
I am aware of the coming “session” tomorrow morning by a number of HT regulars.
I have the infirmary prepared with stomach pumps, Auntie Beechams, and the Padel for any boisterous ones.
I fear that we could lose one or two on this one, so perhaps we could have people ready to help the more delicate passengers overcome their grief?
As a precuation I feel that we should limit access to the CMC tomorrow. I’ll look after it.
Nurse Wolfie is attending to provide emergency care as required in situ.
Yours etc
Ollie @ 9 – the one advantage is that you can’t sleep past your stop π
Dr C @ 17 heh – keep those keys safe π
For those who have missed the mention on the previous drinks, check the ‘Behind the Arse’….tab up on the page (thanks bt8 for pointing it out)
but I see tabs has mentioned it now.
True zico, but as I’ve said a few times, I also have that advantage on my own (sad) Eurotrain π
Ollie and zico, spare a thought for me then – if I fall asleep on the bus from Finsbury Park station towards my hotel I could end up in T**ten**m…
That’s quite terrifying, Lars.
Can’t you just (sleep)walk there ?
Noooooooooooooooooooo!
Taxi, unless it turns out to be driven by Luka Modric???
Ollie, it’s only one stop so if I manage to fall asleep in such a short time I probably couldn’t manage the walk either π
8ball: Taxi? Nah, that’s cheating!
Lovely post βholic.
βIβll be back with a report when I have recovered from being βzicoβdβ β
Oh. Should we not wait up then? π
On the other hand, Lars, if it’s only one bus stop in that area, if you can’t walk it, you probably can’t step on the bus either π
Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeees!
Ollie, you do have a point there!
Hmm, something seems to have made the landlord a bit happy π
Think it was Jackster π
Zico: ah, of course – should have got that…
He’s my neighbour in the Grove. He loves it when I have a half or two before the game π
Hmmm…. no one injured or suspended for the GT Rollers, I see. I can pick from a full squad.
This could be the start of our season (Like A New Season).
Those Boy Racers and Flanders Frites could be eating our dust by the end of the weekend….
Woj was asked on Polish TV what he said to penalty takers ….
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T9CnlWYkgLc&NR=1
Have a good one tomorrow mate. I fancy we’ll do well.
i saw the presser from today with wenger, brian (dickhead) swanson actually trying to argue with arsene wenger!!!,,,it was pretty pathetic by that sky spoof news man who takes more interest in who went were and how much than actual football matchs,,who is he to argue with wenger? sky are pathetic and i hate them ,,,every clown you see on there run arsenal down!!!!
Cheers Esso.
It would be a damn sight better if you were there big man.
Enjoy it Holics.
Feeling quite confident, but one thing Holic! Davies won’t reach Mertesacker’s nose π
Nice one, Snir π
Cheers Holic.
It seems as if I chose the worst time to be out of the bar!
Some excellent posts eh?
It’s really coming together. Good crowd. Looking forward to taking the ‘Arseblog end’ tomorrow π
I know this could seem as if he’s just saying the truth but I am sick and tired that an AFC EMPLOYEE keeps slagging off the team and AW.
http://t.co/PARlF5TF
Can’t stand him.
Arseblog end?
It seems as though Iv’e missed too much this past week, I have no idea what you’re talking about !
We’re under the Tollie brolly tomorrow from early doors. Possibly the biggest gathering of ‘holics yet, and we are missing a couple too.
Let us know when you are over this season. I’m sure we’ll get a few out for that. I have leased a season ticket this season so will be at nearly all of the weekend games.
Have all the fun in the world holics!
It’s nice to finally have to choose from an abundance of riches, isn’t it? Ramsey getting back to his best, Coquelin emerging, Arteta still fit. A springy Vermy and we’ll be over the moon. And a decent time for the game to boot for those of us us far far away. Good feelings.
Sounds like some of the regulars will be having lots of fun tomorrow when they link up. Enjoy guys and cheers to a solid victory. Gunners4life!!
Cold Heineken on Lars tab as usual Barman! Lol!

Hello Matt,
Always have good feelings the night before we play. Afterwards can be a bit of a problem these days π
Ooops! Double post. My bad!
Holic,
Of course you’re missing a couple (ahem ahem π )!
I’m not too sure if I’ll be able to make it…
Apparently my student visa allows me to exit the US only in the summer :\
Shame.
Give my best to your Dad.
Will do.
Cheers mate.
http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/jack-wilshere-to-undergo-ankle-surgery
Here we go again!
Holic, at least whatever happens you’ll be in good company.
@Impeccable1: so much for the good feelings π I guess we’ll see more of Coquelin then.
@Matt 56: I guess you are right as it relates to Coquelin getting more opportunities. He looks like the real deal. In fact, I thought he was one of our better players against Man U and that was confirmed when he was substituted. The onslaught started subsequent to his departure.
TS – Was the bet eventually called off or not :)?
A quick late one forme tonight – again π
Some good stuff from all the regulars in these and previous drinks.
Hope to find you all tomorrow at the Tollie – a big “Holic” banner would be useful, or maybe I will spot Lars sitting on his wallet. π
Someone once said “football is a game of two halves”.
Sounds like tomorrow’s game will be more like one of eight pints.
Trev, brolly nearest Holloway Road. In front of the extension. Come and say hello. Bring pints of Guinness π
iHola Holics!
Mint tea for me thanks I got Chernobyl like toxicity level v. Blackburn and my stomach is in no fit mood.
I’ve got $5.00 USD on our boys to extend our Premier League un-beaten streak to one.
If we cannot win though, perhaps Mertesacker might stick a long, sharp, boney elbow right in Kevin Davies windpipe with some effective force.
Or is that also too much to ask for…(sigh)
iiCOYG!!
leftcoast, effective elbows should not only be the tool of the enemy. π
Theo Epstein, the Red Sox GM on a conversation he had with John Henry (Liverpool owner).
I know he isn’t related with Arsenal, but I really admire both of them and will never forget it that they brought a championship to Boston for the first time in 86 years (and the Red Sox are contenders every year).
What he says has a lot to do with AW and his methods. I totally relate to this quote.
“Early on in my tenure,” Epstein says, “I made a couple of decisions in a row that backfired on us. John and I were talking on the phone, and John drew a parallel to his other business, noting that in the world of stocks, there are two ways to react in the face of poor results. Some abandon their beliefs and adopt any new approach, searching for a quick fix. Others cling even tighter to their core beliefs and ride out the storm. The former group, he said, inevitably fails, while the second group prospers in the long run. I still think of that conversation to this day in tough times.”
@Snir
This is not a couple of bad results.
This is six and a half fruitless years of which the last 6 and a half months by any standard can only be described as between pretty bad and dismal.
Sometimes one needs to tack a little if only to sail closer to the wind.
However the mere suggestion of a change of course is rejected out of hand. You tell me two things
1) Why?
2) Have other teams made adjustments to what we do and to what effect?
Interesting tidbit from the BBC: The last time Arsenal failed to score against Bolton in a home league fixture was in May 1937.
lcgooner – I honestly think AW has been extremely unlucky over these 6 and a half years with extreme stumbling blocks that interfered.
I’m not saying doing things differently wouldn’t improve the team, but sometimes you gotta look at it in a sabermetric way.
I mean, take this summer for example.
How many times has the media cried out for AW to buy experience? Countless times over the last 6 years. Now he buys experience and gets bombed for not buying Hazard or M’Vila who are both YOUNGSTERS! And not only youngsters, they’re from the “poor” French league.
So you really gotta look at it and see if 1) AW could have changed his methods? 2) Does AW need to change his methods.
I know who I want as manager of my club, every day of the week.
To quote the great Danny Graft (god I love that song) – “My dad waited 18 years and all he said was it made it more great.”
I know that a trophy with AW would make it more great.
(And that’s not even starting to think about the fact that there isn’t one manager around who’s better than AW, especially not in England)
Snir@66
Nice.
===
OK Gooners, have fun tomorow, don’t do anything I wouldn’t do. (that pretty much leaves all options open)
COYRRR.
Up at stupid o’clock.
Roxette has that beautiful smile on her face whilst she sleeps that can only mean I’m out of her hair for the day – either that or she is dreaming about the “guy from the gym”. π
Taxi. Inane chatter. Taxi driver insists in putting the world to rights, including telling me where Arsene Wenger is going wrong. Tosser.
Airport and it looks like the flight’s on time.
Pick up e-mail to find we will be one BtM short at the Tollie. In other distressing news, as predicted by our Seer, the Great Snir Gan Gooly, I discover that LJW is indeed this year’s Vermaelen. π π
Better news is that Trev appears to have passed his Tollie fitness test, helped on the way by the Barman.
London beckons. Can’t wait : expect me to be posting in a hoarse voice later this evening π
U Reds!
Gutted about Jack π
Oh and have a great day out holics!
Got to admit it , Snir called it on Jack a long time ago.
Incredible.
Morning Zico!
Love (ahem!) the fact that we were not told that it was a stress fracture (as far as I am aware) until now.
Communication….
Same mail here, zico.
Right then chaps. Extra ten percent of chanting to make up for the loss of BtM please.
See some of you soon.
CG – Cheers mate.
It seems as if I’ve missed the best post (about the communication, and I actually did have some things to say about it :\), but I’m back now, how’ve you been mate :)?
Get yourself a drink, this is our own little Tollie π
Underused in your abscence Snir! But now fully rested and ready to administer tranquilisers as you need them..
I might have a cheeky one…..
No tranquilizers after Ewood Park? To no one? How can that be?!
On early train. Good. Can grab a full Columbian before hitting the pub. Get than frying pan on senors.
You’re not supposed to fry stuff from the GT, ‘holic! π
Or from the WT either, think of it.
the media effects young players.if your trying to make your way, have a bad game and are singled out for criticism…that’s a bit unfair for young players.the ex-players that are writing in the papers…they all had bad games.it’s a thing with pundits more than professional journalists.mickey whealan ex Dublin gaa manager now assistant manager, our county has just won the Sam Maguire for the first time in 16years.I know it’s off topic but just think it relates to us arsenal fans.
Have a great day ‘Holics. Am trekking round southern Sicily looking for a Sportsbar which will show the game on Sky Italia 3. Come on you reds.
Morning Holics
.
Just off to catch the train. Sadly, the news on LJW is not going to give us any cheer and I wonder how the youngsters in the team will react.
Hope to see The Ox and/or Le Coq late on in the game but neither likely to start .
Feeling a little apprehensive but hoping for the best. The fans need to do their bit more than ever today.See you all at the Ems.
As always COYRs
A columbian fry up ? Now that’s what I call breakfast !
At least it’s sunny!
I’m trying to not have any expectations on the game today. It is a game that I would normally expect us to win quite easily but in these times of non-existing confidence you’ll never know.
In any case, just about getting ready to start moving in the general direction of Holloway and some proper pre-match preparation – at least I know that bit will be really good fun!
Got a spare Club Level for today if anyones interested Β£75
Smell that bacon. Yum π
Congratulations on getting onto the Arsenal.com Media Watch list of links. It’s a great acknowledgement of a quality blog and I hope it will lead to further growth for the site.
Drinks on me … coffee perhaps?
Well deserved recognition for your balanced independent analysis ‘Holic and the wisdom expressed over the years by your regulars. Oscars next year?
Hope the intrepid band of ‘holics has managed to claim their territory and are now properly enjoying their session of getting ‘zico’d’…
And that ‘holics everywhere may find suitable video feeds for the game.
Here’s to a good ‘un folks, sing up loud and proud.
And as always COYRs
π
Morning Holics,
04:50 here and I just got the news on JW.
It will be our lost but the lad could use the rest and Frimp,Ox and the other youngsters need the playing time so there’s the silver lining for me.
I hear Mancini has dropped Tevez to 4th choice. I wonder if they’d be willing to swap they’re Jenny Craig boy for ours.(AA)
Anyway, coffee’s on and so is Man $ity.
Come on you almighty REDS!
COYRRR
stream, anyone?
Let’s goooooooooooooooo
Catalan

Thanks ATG
Keep plugging away Ingrid the second half and we’ll have ’em.
COYRRR
*in the second half
Damn phone
Get in there.
Thatman Robin – UReds!
RVP:)
RvP scores and I nick the century. π
Good run by Gervinho good goal by Robin. The next tally (assuming there is one) will be the most important.
come on.one more.
I will happily take a 1-0 win (or 2-0 or 3-0 or 16-0).
Was that a correct red?horrible stream.
Not a good red card but too bad.
We’ve been on the wrong end of this sort of stuff for awhile and it’s definately somebody elses turn.
@midas
Try this one midas.
It’s Ukrainian but the video is sharp.
http://www.sportp2p.info/
thanks lcg.hope we score in the next 10 mins.
Mad Robin stands firm against five.
H2H, and he didn’t react and throw a punch. Quality, that.
And Alex stayed out of it. learning curve?
YeaaaaSsssssss
RvP is pure class.
breathing space.
Indeed Joshua and lefty
His 100th goal for Arsenal at that.
@midas
Your wish is RVP’s command.
a 4-0 or 5-0 would do our confidence no harm.
Not to mention our woeful goal difference.
But first things first. Keep that sheet clean.
another week of ‘walcott has no footballing brain’ from the sun.
Robin Van Persie!
Walcott’s run and through pass set up Robin’s second goal.
Surely you couldn’t have missed that?
A brace of assists for Rambo, a brace for RvP who’s my skipper and a brace for Ramirez.
I’d say my fantasy team is doing good today π
We’ve only got one Song!! Love seeing the smile on Arsene’s face.
Arsenal fans: “One Arsene Wenger, there’s only one Arsene Wenger.”
I agree.
They’ll still talk about his miss.3-0.we’re 12th.
Clean sheet, 3 goals and no bookings.
Job done.
Get in there I hope Walcott is not badly injured! Well done to the lads they did us proud!
Snir Fantasy league will be very happy for us too!
midas, not to mention that Theo was the one in position to draw the red card.
I think the Rollers have done well also… RVP skipper
That feels very nice doesn’t it?
Great performance RVP
Up the Arsenal!
If it weren’t for the Torres miss I woulda said Theo’s miss is the miss of the season.
His ball control has improved a bit.hope this gives him confidence.its the scum next.A win would take us above them.lets worry about that later.i am just going to enjoy this week.it has been so long since we won by 3 goals.
Oh and that save from Woj.
2nd best keeper in Europe after Casillas. I have no doubt about it anymore.
Now i am preparing for a rugby match in which rooney will be carried away in a stretcher and lennie scores a late equalizer which is deflected in to make it 2-2 in the 5 min of fergie time.
Brilliant result, clean sheet, performance was a bonus. Yeah, baby.
That felt nice didn’t it? Let’s see who vanishes from the drinks this weekend.
Nice composed performance, especially as at half time it was obvious we’d need patience…shit it was obvious after ten minutes. Confidence builder, makes for a better weekend.
@139 Midas – Rooney isn’t in the squad with a hamstring injury.
I have a feeling that’s gonna be the reason that the winning streak United has going will end. That and Delap throws to De Gea of course.
Good win for us tonight! I think me getting some head was the cause π I think I’ll try to get some while watching every game from now on.
A sex on the beach for all of the victorious gooners still in the bar. Now let’s see Pubis and his neanderthals law the scum low
UTA
Wanting Stoke to win is a bit like cheering for the Gestapo…..come on Stoke!!
Six games, three clean sheets and within three points of the two teams likely to challenge for 4th. All with an injury list longer than my old chap.
Not everything at the club is rosy, far from it, but the naysayers can stick their “crisis” up their arse.
Well done to the lads today – much better and a good platform to build from. Now the next step is to do it two games running.
Oh and get well Theo, but in the mean time I’m looking forward to the Ox getting some minutes under his belt.
@tim 144
Well put mate.
Big win that and a big captains performance from RVP. Delighted
and stoke are level.i never thought i would be cheering for stoke.
With the HT left in the hands of the Junior Executives (they know who the are) me and Dr F decided to do some impromptu research on how the other half travel:
London Underground from Heathrow to Holloway Road, for those of you have made the journey, is an exercise in bladder control.
Half way through, my mind had already turned to how I was going to make the return journey with my stomach full of lunchtime beers, supplemented by the overpriced fizzy stuff that I would no doubt be too weak-willed to refuse (and so it turned out). I was purple by the time we got to Earls Court π
Suffice to say, I am back at the airport, 3 points in the bag, and so much mpre the richer for having spent the afternoon in the company of tabs (and Wolfie), the man with the biggest wallet in Sweden (just add
water) Trev, (we have much unfinished chatting) and the best Barman this side of Glen Orchy.
I expect the fun will just be getting started, but contrary to the Barman’s post above, it had nowt to do with zico π
PS – my thoughts on the game will follow the next post π
I expect the fun was probably just going to sy
Excuse the bit at the end – fecking Apple
Oh and my flight home is delayed an hour – cunts.
Guess I can fill the time reading the drinks – ps Tim @ 141 – so true.
Guess we wont hear from IDKA, spectrum, Ben and the all the other little tits who shouldnt be out after dark π
Stoked Dudes!
Good result at Stoke. Both dropped points.
The usual 19 minutes sir alexextra time
A win plus clean sheet and now back to single digit points from the top. Time to party like there’s no tomorrow!
Was at a baptism ceremony today, so I missed the game. Have seen the goals, three really good goals I’d say. Very happy with today, will have more to say after having watched the game on Arsenal Player tomorrow.
For now, more wine to celebrate the little girl that got her name and Song scoring a curler!
Right, I’ll try again – wtf else is there to do with no planes to Scotland:
Lars, you the man (wallet was not all it was cracked up to be, but I think it was traveling incognito)
Trev, you were very serious today, what happened? π
And if anyone was wondering what else happened at the Board meeting:
Stan showed up but didnt speak
Harsha’s company got the contract by default
Linda Lusardi’s bits are still a figment of Dr F’s hyperactive imagination
and Clive, of course, Wolfie will take the job π
Tim @141 – @let’s see who disappears from the drinks” …. Heh!! Excellently put.
Keep on drinking Zico….
U bet Doc π
are you stranded in LHR with nowhere to go?
Only nine points of the lead! Stroll onto Christmas, stroll onto Christmas.
Nowhere to go but my feverish imagination, god help you all….
Are Barca playing tonight?
If they win, I think think the zico treble has come in…..
btw, at Heathrow tonite, a man from Cork, aged 50, claimed to have” followed Chelsea all his loife”, another one π
Great, great result and a great all round performance. I thought Song was immense today as was RVP and Theo.
We played a great passing and possession game today and looked assured at the back.
And how the English media must be pole-axed by that result, plus the Mancs scrapping a draw at Stoke.
Up the Arse!!!
Heh Zico. Good to know you fellas had a nice day out
Secret Supplies are honoured to get the contract and will dutifully fulfill all the terms π
As for the performance today, it was great to see us show the patience which was needed to win the game
Robin was the man of the match for me
Right, I’m gonna turn in now
‘night all
Zico… they’re about to kick off. Head to a bar and follow your pound… are you stuck there all night?
Heh zico @ many. Safe flight back. Will we see you for Toffee? π
BtM, wherever you are, I shall shout double (in a fake auchtermuckty accent if you like) on Wednesday. Those Greeks won’t know what hit ’em π
Great win. The season starts here, Mk 5. Can’t wait for Olympiakos which should warm us up nicely for a real 6 pointer vs The Scum.
‘Holic, great job with the BTA tab(s) (sic).
Cheers all & UTA!!!
I just realised that my advice to Zico to “find a bar” was pretty redundant!
Good Evening Holics
Just in from the match, having spent a very interesting 100mins on the train with a disgruntled W.Ham fan and 3 Chavs.
The whole game IMHO hinged on that fantastic Szczesny save in the opening minutes. Had Bolton scored we might now be in the relegation zone but we recovered from our nervous start and things really did improve.
How RVP found room at the near post for the first goal I don’t know but the pace of the shot beat the keeper who made a host of excellent saves in the second half.
Theo was responslble for 2 assists but he was clean through, not under any pressure , and shot straight at the keeper! We should have scored more goals ,chances galore went a begging.
At the back , Szczesny didn’t have a lot to do after his wonder save. Kos was outstanding, along with Song who was my man of the match topped off with his fine goal.
Arteta and Ramsey worked very hard , lots of running cross field with the ball but not too many penetrating through balls. Gervinho was threatening in the first half in spasmodic bursts of pace but disappeared from the scene in the second half and was substituted.
RVP scored his 100th goal with his 2nd effort and left the field to a standing ovation. The crowd did its bit but in spite of the match being a sell out there were an awful lot of empty seats. Now we have put on a good show perhaps the fickle STHs will once again grace the Ems with their presence!
Am once again a happy Gooner. COYRs
Harsha @ #164
Nice one although Edwin has asked me to remind you that
(1) Your goods will be subject to continuous and rigorous DLL quality control checks.
(2) Your tender was accepted partly on the basis that Lonestar Llamas has decided to (temporarily, hopefully) take a ‘trading holiday’.
I say, hush now Edwin, stop being a Misog and be happy for 3 points, a clean-sheet and a perfect HT trip today.
Roll-on Wednesday π
Delia @ #168
Thanks for the match report, excellent job.
You’re not the only happy Gooner tonight π
Thanks Delia
Drink, anyone?
Cheers Dr.C, a nip of single malt please. Fine job manning the infirmary today. Hope it was quiet. I’m just wondering if ‘Holic is safely on his way home yet or still in Wolfie’s clutches? π
*shudder*
Ice with that or neat?
Thanks for the praise, Prof, but I feel that the early hours of the morning, and tomorrow’s daylight hours will be when the infirmary is most busy.
I believe that Wolfie has seen the landlord onto to A happy train. The tricky part will be whether he gets off it or not in time to reboard The Happy Train.
Good points Dr.C. At the risk of offending others, I will have ice with my whiskey, ta!
That’s the way I take it too…. damned tropics!
Home …..
Guys, the pleasure was all mine….
DL Executives, you did good.
Only 1 hour till closing time – the next one is for Ollie, Edwin, Dr C, BtM, tabs, Trev, Lars, Snowy, Snir, Delia, Lonestar, Harsha, PiK (MIA), Camberwell, Noel73, the inimitable Clive, Steve T, Matt (.statty one), .8 ball, and all you other maddos – if I forgot you please forgive me – its been a long day – and most of all Goonerholic.
Arsenal, bloody Arsenal.
I Am drumk beyond anything…

What’s not to like?
Good and proper result but I missed the game due to family outing. Picking apples and raspberries, dontcha know. Convention of the ‘holics appears to have been a massive success so onward and upward, and Cheers all. π
I am REALLY drunk drught niw. Se you all tomorrow!
Patient Lars. Report to The Infirmary. We’ll take good care of you.
Your wallet may be beyond salvage.
Dr.C
How right you were! π
Lars, for the sake of your own safety, surrender yourself to the good doctor immediately please. It’s clear certain others have effected a ceratin influence on you today. I think he may need to administer his anti-yak formula before your retire. Heh, pure gold.
Can barely type, am drunk beyond all measure, and am rapidly losing the power of speech…
Yet somehow….it feels GREAT !!!
A happy day fellow ‘holics
Until the morrow…a good night to all
π
Dr.C
It looks like you have patient #2 in need of some attention. Let’s hope Nurse Wolfie turns up for the graveyard shift.
So many ‘holics drunken under the table and nary a sober one to be found … Victoria concordia crescit, indeed. π
sober as a judge . Lightweights !
Actually , completely f*cked . Diary of a day to follow tomorrow
Good man, Tabs. π
Sounds like a good night was had by all. Just remember to leave the nurofen somewhere handy. Looking forward to the many recollections and counter recollections. A solid performance but little credit given anywhere, seems like no one wants us to win…just the way I like it…oh and seen the picture of holics columbian breakfast….what the fucks with all the beans…must have been a blazing saddles day i,d say.
How good is Alex Song this season?
How stupid was his red card?!
He has been MOM in every match he played, just an unbelievable player.
Ramsey definitely feels that way IMO, he’s been magnificent in the two games he’s played with Song and Arteta in the midfield 3.
Holics – Glad you had a lot of fun, there’s nothing better than having a good football weekend with close friends.
Cheers.
I see we’ll meet Bolton at home again in the next round of the Beer Cup.
Looking forward to ‘holics review…… If he can remember anything that is. π
Just seen MOTD and although everyone at Spurs is healthy, Assou Ekoto is their weakness.
We have to get Theo healthy for next week.
I have to say that as opposed to other seasons, our front six aren’t better than theirs by a mile.
Parker, Sandro, VdV, Bale, Modric and Adebayor is quite scary for our shaky defense but so are Song, Ramsey, Arteta (how well has he settled in eh?), Gervinho, Theo, RvP fir their shaky defense.
Should be a good game but if it’s anything like last season’s 3-3 I don’t think I’ll survive it. I am not kidding when I’m saying that I thought my heart will explode. That wasn’t good for any Gooner heart.
Morning all.
A quick glance at the drinks total confirms that we are missing quite a few of the usual MOGs and that some people really are only happy when they’re miserable!
TS; a medical report on patients Lars, Snowy, Tabs et al to follow once Dr C gets back from looking for Nurse Wolfie. Apparently she misunderstood your reference to “graveyard shift” and was last seen tottering off in the direction of Highgate, muttering something about a “cottage”.
Odd, as Fulham is nowhere near there.
Big day at the top of the HT League, too…. not so big at the bottom!
Throat dry. Head aches. Belly empty. Need breakfast.
AFCMTA got the most points this week even though all of my subs were unavailable so no one could replace Coates and Cahill!!!!
π
Snir
The GT Rollers are mighty miffed with the 4th official who reversed their substitution of Gervinho for some Bolton nobody! Those few extra points may well have had ATG in our grasp!
Congratulations to AFCMTA!
Boooo….. Numpties and Diabolical!! Boo, I say.
So, who stole my phone and posted those two well-thought and articulate posts last night? π
Had a cracking day, huge thanks to all who were there. A sunny day, great company and the beers kept lining themselves up and then of course we won the game.
The cross comes in…
And scores with a thumping head(er).
Water please. π
Our all-conquering Ladies are contesting the Continental Cup final against Birmingham City today, in pursuit of a domestic treble. So please be thinking about them at 2:15pm today.
Heh Dr.C @ #193 π
Let me know the next time we’ve got a bit of a more official ‘holic-meetup before/after a game. My schedule at the moment is hectic but at least I can plan my own time quite a bit at the moment and I really feel the need to get away to the grove at least once before christmas.
And oh, Lars, that goes especially for you, since some company on the flight is always welcome.
Well done to the ladies and good win for the men
