PSG Provide Tough But Not Impassable Test
Sep 12th, 2016 by 'holic
Here we go again. For the nineteenth consecutive season we enter the group phase of the European Champions League. We don’t have a gentle introduction to this season’s competition. On paper Paris St Germain away is the toughest of our six matches in this phase.
Arsene Wenger has admitted today that our opponents on Tuesday have contacted him on three occasions in the past about taking over at the Parc des Princes and that adds to the aura that surrounds the game. Almost certainly the last of those approaches was relatively recent.
This summer Laurent Blanc was replaced in the PSG hotseat by Unai Emery, and the team that stormed the French title last year are struggling to adapt not just with the departure of Blanc, but also Ibrahimovic, despite improving their defence by selling Luiz back to Chelsea. They are currently three points of the pace in Ligue 1 having won just the first two of their four fixtures to date.
The PSG squad picked by Emery for the match still has a string of big names and if they can click we will obviously be in for a stern examination of our credentials. The most notable absentee is Hatem Ben Arfa, a player well known to us. Both teams have strength and creativity in midfield and it will be interesting to see how we deal withย Thiago Motta and Marco Veratti.
As for us Arsene revealed that Laurent Koscielny has recovered sufficiently from his boot in the eye on Saturday and will so he should start alongside Shkodran Mustafi. Their battle with Edison Cavani will be another key one. It is in midfield and up front where Arsene must now reveal what he considers his first team of the moment.
It is likely that Granit Xhaka will return alongside Santi Cazorla behind Mesut Ozil. Theo Walcott may give way to a fit again Alex Iwobi on one flank with Alexis Sanchez on the other. Olivier Giroud will surely get the nod over new boy Lucas Perez if 4-2-3-1 is the formation of choice, which it invariably is. The French striker will relish a battle with Thiago Silva in his home country.
The ‘holic pound
Often at this point I suggest that the outcome really will depend on which Arsenal turns up on the day. On Tuesday it is complicated by the fact that it will also depend on which PSG turns up! A comprehensive victory either way is possible, but instead my bid for a treble of wins is guided by the expectation of a tense, close contest. Under such circumstances I am going for a good old-fashioned ‘one-nil to the Arsenal’, a song born in the host stadium some twenty-two years ago (Damn you Ginola for the equaliser).ย That popular scoreline is available at around 12/1.
To the significant number of travelling Gooners I wish you an enjoyable and safe trip. The French police, normally nervous at the best of times, will be on a high state of alert given recent events so do comply with their security measures.
Have a great one, ‘holics.

1st again
Mr Prolific.
And as before, I will now read the post.
Indifferent to the CL. I’d rather watch a good game from the football league and it’s a crying shame Sky don’t give us that option
Errrm, yay us etc.
nil – nil.
Nice preview H.
I’m not sure there is ever really a good time to play PSG but if there is, this is probably it. If we try and sit back in Paris then I think that would be a mistake. Whilst a point would not be a bad result I do think we are capable of getting more. That all is obviously fully dependant on what Arsenal team shows up. It definitely needs to be one that manages more than one shot from open play on target.
I hope that by this time tomorrow we will all be raising a glass to toast yet another successful Holic pound.
Beers on the bar. After all, it is a Monday.
Cheers Steve. Everything crossed here for the hat-trick. ๐
Nice preview Guvna. I’ll go for 1-0 to the Arsenal. Nightcaps on the bar, gents.
PSG with home advantage, and an extra days rest having played on Friday, should win this.
But as the Barman points out, with a new manager, with his own ideas on how he wants them to play, and without Ibra who was their leader for so many years,it is probably more of a 50 – 50 contest.
We cannot afford to start off as slowly as we did on Saturday,we were off the pace most of the first half, and only really came to life once the subs were made.
But i would much rather go into this battle with a last gasp victory behind us,and confidence high, than with a frustrating draw.
With only 48 hrs to recover from what was a tight/tense physical battle with the Saints,we now have to confront an altogether more tricky Saint in their own back yard.
A draw will do me.
A little more flesh on the bones of the game โHolic fleetingly alludes to above. It was the first leg of the European Cup Winners Cup semi-final in 1994, the only other time we have played PSG. It ended 1-1 in Paris (Ian Wright scoring), to be followed by a 1-0 win at home (Kevin Campbell). As a sign of how English football has changed, our starting XI for both matches contained ten Englishmen and a Dane (John โFaxeโ Jensen). That semi-final was, of course, the prelude to the famous night in Copenhagen when the Cup was won with a 1-0 defeat of the holders, Parma.
Some video of both legs:

Top eleven and in the team?
April 1994, when I used to live in a semi-tropical climate. How times have changed.
For those who can access it on the Arse website,
I thoroughly recommend Adrian Clarke’s Breakdown segment, dissecting the game against the Saints.
Also while you are in the bar Ned,
I heard tonight that Ronald Koeman has become the first Everton Manager to win back to back away league games in 97 years. !!
At least i think that’s what i heard.
Staggering if true.
Please ask the Monks to confirm or deny.
The monks of course need little assistance in the area of confirmation, however the BBC will deny it for you Clive:
“Ronald Koeman is the first Everton manager since Thomas McIntosh in 1919 to win his first two competitive away games in charge of the club.”
Thnks bt8
that is an incredible statistic.
Er, ‘to win his first two games in charge’ isn’t quite the same as ‘the first to win back to back away games’ … ie, new managers to win their first two away games. I imagine it’s a rarity with most new managers in any club.
I feel worryingly confident about at least holding PSG away, more confident than in any game so far this season. I just feel the occasion will bring out the best in players who have taken their time shaking off their holiday lethargy. Time to see the best of OG and Theo actually playing together for once in a millennium.
I’m going to blame the ref now. Get in early just in case it all goes wrong.
????
Indeed, Clive, as bt8b said, Koeman is the first Everton manager to win his first two away games since Thomas McIntosh in 1919. In games two and three of the season, McIntosh’s Everton won at Bradford Park Avenue and Chelsea (having lost to them at home in the first game of the season). In a managerial career lasting until 1935, he led Everton to the old First Division title twice and a Second Division title, and won the FA Cup once but is most remembered for signing Dixie Dean.
Krycho/Matuidi/Veratti means our mid is in for one helluva battle. We also need to watch for Matuidi’s runs into the box. OG v Silva, Cavani v Kos.. just as intriguing.
Wingers v Fbs to determine this one maybe.
2-0
Alexis & Giroud.
UTA.
Thnks for the additional info Ned.
Another question for the Monks,
Yesterday i read that on this same day in 1885, in the Scottish Cup games played that day,Dundee Hoops beat the Aberdeen Rovers 35 – 0,
which was a record at the time, but apparently it didn’t last long. !!
Can the Monks throw any light on this extraordinary fact.
Holic on a hat trick ?
Judging by the preview, it’ll be a start if two teams turn up ….. ?
Good luck, H – more than happy with a 0-1 win here ??
Blimey, Ned,
those towers must be huge !
Where do you find all this stuff ? Good job !
Clive up to some Monky business ……..
For the benefit of those who view today’s game as merely a warmup to the main event, namely our 19 October home game against Ludogorets Razgrad, the least known of our Champions League opponents as most people would probably say, here is a Wiki primer.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Razgrad
For those with less time or interest, may I say that of all the famous people who are listed on that page as having been identified with Razgrad, a somewhat obscure small city in northeast Bulgaria, I have heard of none of them except possibly the Ottoman pasha who died in Razgrad in the year 1626. Then again, there was more than one Ottoman pasha so I probably am confusing him with one of the other pashas.
They apparently have an excellent football team these days though. Most likely due to the ill-gotten gains of the team’s owners, I would suspect. At any rate, I am looking forward to that match if nobody else is.
Bon Accord were a football team from Aberdeen who suffered the worst defeat in any Scottish senior football match, losing 36โ0 to Arbroath on 12 September 1885 in a first round match of the Scottish Cup.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arbroath_36โ0_Bon_Accord
Draw. Their midfield vs ours will be a great watch and I hope we step up than be lackadaisical. Xhaka/Elneny pivot for me as Santi needs to be rested with that sore heel. I am pretty certain Perez starts again and i hope Alexis can play on the right-hand side. Theo and Ox did nothing of note on Saturday and hence go back to the bench. Giroud to start. As much as we would want to protect Kos, a point or 3 today will help in a long way for us to top the group. Now Mesut, where are those assist boots of yours, wear it please.
Re: bath @27. Great link, well worth everyone’s attention. Not only does it explain Bon Accord’s club name and dispel the notion that they were really a cricket club, it includes this footnoted fact: “It was claimed that Arbroath goalkeeper Jim Milne Sr did not touch the ball in the entire game and spent some of the match sheltering from the rain under a spectator’s umbrella.”
Thnks Bath
The Monks must be bell ringing or something.
Any of your relatives at the game. ??
Footnoted claim that could have been a fact, I should have said. ๐
It was raining you say bt8 ??
In Scotland. ??
There’s a surprise.
Not to be overlooked in Bath’s same article, under the heading “Unlikely Coincidence,” is the writer’s clever use of “deluge of goals” no matter whether or not it was actually raining in Dundee that day:
“On the same day, 18 miles (29 kilometres) away in Dundee, Dundee Harp were also playing in the first round of the Scottish Cup against Aberdeen Rovers. Dundee Harp beat Aberdeen Rovers 35โ0. The referee noted 37 goals, but Harpโs secretary suggested a miscount must have occurred as he had recorded only 35. The match official, acknowledging it was difficult for him to keep accurate details during such a deluge of goals, accepted the lower tally and wired the official score of 35โ0 to the Scottish Football Association headquarters.”
8-Ball, Ned, Scruz, Faustus,
I’m stateside at the moment gentlemen and wondering if the game tonight is televised and if so, what channel is it on?
I’m in SC if that makes a difference?
Thanks.
Joe, I was just looking into it, and it looks like the game is not televised except on Fox Sports2Go (part of the Murdoch empire), which requires signing up for a “free trial” which automatically turns into a paid subscription unless you can figure out how to cancel it after you have watched the game. It all sounds more complicated and possibly unsavory than I really want to have to contend with but if you are interested you can look into it here:
http://www.foxsoccer2go.com
The other way to go is to look for a bar where the game is televised, which is probably pretty easy to find in Charleston, S.C. if not in other parts of the state. You could always rent a car and drive to Atlanta if you get desperate.
Bt8,
Your a gentleman sir – thanks ever so much.
I think I’ll find a bar downtown Charleston.
Like most Europeans, my visits to the states centred on the major destinations like NY, Chicago & San Fran but I’ve never been to the “South” before but my word, what a beautiful part of the world this is.
I looked yesterday, Joe, found the same as bt8. it is being replayed at 1230 am pdt on espn2 (iirc), then again later tomorrow on another channel (for Comcast users, at least). methinks it’ll be streaming today!!
and good luck finding it showing!
the Charleston Arsenal America branch operates out of Mt. Pleasant, across the inlet from downtown (if I read the map right). this is their home bar, it seems: http://www.myfathersmustache.com/
if you get a chance, it should be a fun watch!
also: http://charsenal.com
I’ll ask on Twitter, Joe.
Pop back in a bit and I’ll let you know if any luck.
Joe, game is carried on Fox Sports 2 in the NYC area. Likely to be carried on that channel throughout the country, so a decent sports bar should make it available, as there’s nothing else on of a US sports interest at that time.
Joe, apparently the Charleston Gooners will be in the wonderfully named My Father’s Mustache. Let me know how it goes. ?
I knew social media and these bloody phones would come in handy one day! ?
http://www.myfathersmustache.com/
*portrait of the invisible bar patron* ;D
Interesting reactions nd well worked preview! My take on d forecast for d game is 1-2 to Arsenal to nite.!
Clive @30, not that I know of. I suspect Arbroath would have seemed like the ends of the earth to farmers in north Aberdeenshire.
Looks like a good bar to check out the malts, Joe. Have a great evening.
http://www.arsenal.com/news/features/20160912/charlie-george Don’t miss that one Gooners, tucked away as it is a bit on the website. Pure gold and the 1970 Anderlecht stuff is good for getting up for a Euro night. What a great servant still and doesn’t he tell his story well ? Great humour too. The ’71 Cup Final was the day I became a Gooner and it was all about Charlie to start with, basically. What a God ! What a character. I got sick that Autumn (meningitis) and as a seven year old my hospital room was swamped with pictures of CG I drew with me crayons. They got all mixed up with me med charts and the nurse went nuts. Charlie helped me thru and out the other end in double quick time. Apologies if somebody has signposted this already, I had bit of a back drink. COYG.
Enjoy the game, Joe. ๐ Charleston is indeed a lovely spot, and I have heard Savannah, Georgia is as well if you get a chance to extend your trip.
scruz, it looks like you are officially (and unofficially) correct about the best spot in Charleston for Joe to watch the game. ๐
:D, bt8. hopefully he can get over there. watching with a bunch of gooners from america is a fun time…
Puzzling line-up!!
http://dailycannon.com/2016/09/official-psg-v-arsenal-teams/
Surprising team selection for tonight:
Ospina
Bellerin
Kos
Mustafi
Monreal
Cazorla
Coquelin
Iwobi
Ozil
Oxlade-Chamberlin
Alexis
Is there something wrong with Xhaka?
http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/37331259
There must be something going on between the boss & OG. Why is he not starting today?
very puzzling lineup. very surprising. very nervous-making.
COYG!
And then compare our line-up to who City is starting today/tonight. Why oh why boss man?
http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/37331231
I have no idea what Wenger is doing with his team selection this season . Xhaka would be made for this game and I am surprised Ox is in. And will Giroud ever start? And the Ospina CL experiment continues
No Walcott even on the bench? If he’s not injured and he’s out, but Ox not only stays in the squad but starts, there’s something very wrong with the selection process.
Just for a change.
Don’t get the line up, surely the Watford team, minus Feo who has a knee problem, was the one to start. Sanchez is no CF, why have two on the bench?
Worried !
Ospina in for Cech? Seriously, why? Why fuck about with the defence? We have a centre half making his second appearance and we rest/drop out number 1 keeper???? I will never ever understand the thinking in that at all.
That by the way is not a dig in the slightest at Ospina. I think he is a top keeper. I just think that Cech is out number one and better.
And no Granit. Just seen that.
Bizarre team selection in my opinion.
And no Ollie G. As I move up it gets worse.
Anyone thinking already that we’re going to be sat here after the group phase going, “If he hadn’t fucked about with team changes we would have won the group instead of finishing second and drawing fucking Barcelona!” ?
๐
Still never mind, it could be worse. We could be playing on Thursdays.
You would think that you start your strongest team possible & score as much as you can then bring in the subs depending on scoreline, later. We play Hull on Saturday. How did this play a role in team selection, you wise ones?
Ospina plays because AW gave him the word he will play in cup games. He is a world-class keeper and I am not nervous at all…he paid his dues for last years blunders. I am sure he will be fine.
I guess Giroud is out for tactical reasons…PSG with Silva is good in the air. Perez could have been in the team but both him and Giroud will get in if needed. Don’t panic guys…at least not too early.
That was quick ๐
42 seconds and we are one down due to some shocking defending. Didn’t see that coming.
Just switched on the TV and shocked we are already down by a goal. Shit start. COYG.
So Bosnian. We pay ยฃ35 million for a centre half. He’s played one game in the Prem with one keeper. Then plays his second with a different one. Regardless of how good Ospina may be how does that help to bring an understanding and working partnership for a defence??
Come On!!!!!!!!!
What is Ox doing and Sanchez up front?
Come on Arsenal!
Both had their studs up.. le Coq has to learn how to act to get a free kick! Roll on the ground a few times… ridiculous!
COME ON!!!!!!
Steve, frankly, I guess Wenger and Bould are not that naive as your comment implies.
Alexis is not himself so far. I am worried about him.
Monreal is having a horrible time on the left
Come on wake up!
Got away with murder our communication is just not there
Sanchez needs to go to the flank this is not working one bit
Lucky escape as Cavani misses an open goal. Would have been game, set and match for PSG. Shambolic defending by Arsenal.
Really Bosnian? Well I’m damnded if I understand their thinking. Perhaps I will have a check later and see how many other teams playing tonight have “rested” their number 1 keeper.
At the moment we are incredibly unlucky to just be 1 down.
Abysmal team selection
I could have told you that playing Sanchez as a #9 has not worked so far this season.
Coquelin is giving cheap balls away so many times, shocking.
Agreed with Steve T regarding the keeper change with a new defender playing, especially when Cech speaks fluent German too.
We have a problem getting the ball out of defense, while we let Xhaka sit on the bench.
We play a team set up to play on the counter, yet we concede within 60 seconds.
Arsene puzzles me too much sometimes. Hope he gets this sorted, that is his job after all.
Cavani is a crap striker.. he could have got 3 easily there… glad we did not get him!
๐
COME ON!!!!!!!
“OK, Alex, I’ll give you an opportunity to play your way into the first eleven at the start of the season”
“Thanks boss”
“I meant West Ham’s first eleven. AND YOU’RE BLOWING YOUR JANUARY MOVE!”
Godโฆ abject doesn’t really sum it up.
We could have easily been three down. Aurier, who was linked with Arsenal a couple of years back, is giving Monreal a very hard time with his pace, skill and strength. We don’t seem to have the penetration. The way we are playing, I would be happy if we finish just one down at half time.
Off-side trap?????? Cavan could have scored a hat-trick by now.
Derrick
The OX is no different to be honest
Cavani is Arsenal’s best weapon; has kept it from being 0-3.
Plenty of matches left for us to progress to get knocked out in the last 16…
๐
We’ll probably get one or two once Giroud comes on and PSG tires in the 2nd half.
Baffling team selection which leaves me to believe that some have picked up some injury before the start..!
I feel quite embarrassed by all of that. Shocking team selection. Dreadful goal to concede. If Cavani had really fancied it tonight he would have had a hat trick by now. How we are only 1 down I really don’t know.
Yet another half where we are unable to muster any shots on target. Not 1.
I have several friends there tonight. I hope for their sakes that there is a considerable upsurge in the second half.
ATG, the sad thing is that the Ox is no longer surprising anybody with his performances. To be fair, though, the whole team is playing very badly.
To me it seems like the nerves translates from the defense to the midfielders. Did not playing Cech had to do with this?
….and why are we playing so predictably bad in our most important CL group stage match? The way we are playing right now is not too surprising at all, passing to each other in the back, failing to get passes forward. Except that without Giroud in front we don’t have the option of playing the ball long. Nor can we use Alexis’ trickery on the left.
I’m staying up to watch football at 1.45 am, but it’s just sad to see Wenger get so many decisions wrong.
Really bad first half we should have been at least three nil down there is no excuse for Wenger with a such a bad team selection for a very very important champions league game. He insists on playing Alexis up front when it clearly doesn’t work in the Premier League against weaker teams why would it work against a very good PSG side. The Ox is having a mare as well as Le Coq, Sanchez looks last upfront he doesn’t know when to pull the trigger it’s not a pretty sight.
I hope we improve in the second half we couldn’t play any worse than we did in the first
Derrick
Completely agree with you the whole team is a big disappointment crossing the line of embarrassment
Any chance we can play a forward?
Just one, that’s all. I don’t want to be greedy. One will do to start with?
We need Ollie on to hold the ball up.We are being out played, no protection for Kos and Mustafi and with Le Coq on a yellow a further change at HT to the MF is needed.
Still worried!
COYRs
The boys are all over the pitch and Ox has been piss poor. Monreal hasn’t fared any better. Just hope the manager has a handle on things and makes the necessary adjustments.
Some horrific defending…but I don’t think it is due to the GK change. Lucky to be one goal down. C’mon guys…we can do much better than this…let’s show it in the second half.
I agree with Tapera about Sanchez…I am just worried he won’t be any better playing on either flank. I expected more from Santi. I guess we will soon see Giroud/Peres in, Ox out.
Does Wenger have the nerves to make 1 or two subs during half time? To me this seems like a necessity to make it possible. Xhaka and Giroud on would be nice.
We have a strong team, a great combination of different players, yet we somehow always find a way to make things hard for ourselves. Depressing stuff.
Giroud and Xhaka on, Ox and Le Coq off, PLEASE!
Derrick
The answer is no he hasn’t
BG, in my opinion Sanchez would probably fare a whole lot better on the left for a few reasons. One, he gets more of the ball on the left. Two, he gets to play combination passes with Ozil to instigate our attack like they did against Southampton. Three, he would have Giroud up front as a target man to feed from.
Sanchez also has precedence in playing well in big games on the left. Fa cup final against Villa, home game against Man utd last year… Wenger got his selections wrong big time, I hope he has the guts to admit it, and most importantly fix it.
Come on Arsenal
It’s almost 3 am after a long day at work and I’m tired, but this is how it usually goes. We concede a second goal and then play like we have nothing to lose. Ox gets a consolation goal, we make subs in the 60-70 min mark and push for the equalizer and just fall short.
I hope I jinxed myself out. Coyg.
Why does the manager take forever to make substitutions when clearly things are not working?
We need Giroud on.. or someone to be in the box!
Grrr…COME ONN!!
Diver Di Maria.. !
COme On!!!!!!!!
Looks like Le Coq is playing up front now
ATG, he has a good goalscoring record to justify that too.
Hopefully when he decides to substitute it will be OG & Perez at the same time for Ox & Iwobi.
How about some subs Le Boss?
It’s ludicrous that he hasn’t made any changes yet can he not see with his own eyes that we are playing like shit wtf is he waiting for ?
He did switch Ox to the left and Iwobi to the right. May count as a sub perhaps…
I honestly don’t know what game Wenger is watching. Pathetic.
60 mins gone and still not had a shot on target.
Oliver on different game
Why wait until 63nd minute to make a sub? Bring Perez on too.
Just wondering out loud, what & when subs wud AW have made had he been in charge of Man U last Saturday?
Iwobi is quite a player isn’t he.
Nowadays we are a team that needs to score goals from almost 100% of our shots on target to win. We also do look dangerous from set pieces, even more so now with Giroud on.
Jesus this is painful to watch
Our tactics are shit. Our teamplay is shit. Which means our training sessions are shit.
We do have good players and a very good amount of luck it seems.
Di Maris sure likes to Roll alot… mayhap we should adopt some of those tactics next time a challenge comes in..! GRRR!
COME ON!
Xhaka on and we are looking worse for worse
Cud have down 5 by now.
73 minutes ticking not a single shot on goal
No shots from open play since Watford, ffs.
GET INNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN!!!
Clinical Sanchez! Get in!!!
Finally
Get on at last!
You wait 77 minutes for a shot on target and then get 2 in 3 seconds.
Get in that is bloody iPhone
In the words of the Clash, “Do I Stay Or Do I Go?”
Steve
Typical Arsenal if you ask me
So..we’re going to sign Cavani in the next window??
๐
COME ONNNNNNNNNNNN!!
I don’t know what you guys are watching, but I see only one side trying to play football: us.
I also see PSG fans hoarse from, erm, whistling, and Arsenal fans from singing.
Oh and we just scored!!!
Wagner ahht
ATG, indeed typical as I mentioned above too. Clinical finishing with a huge chunk of luck in defending. I’d take a point in a heartbeat.
Broglie, PSG has had 4-5 very good chances in the second half alone, we really have Ospina to thank.
PSG look like a struggling side too, they only have 4 points from 3 games in the French league, mind you.
PSG are tiring as expected but still dangerous on the counter…. Elneny coming on it seems…
COME ON!!
I agree Arthur.
Broglie. I take it you have only just started watching?
Ollie G with the brains of a rocking horse.
Somehow i think Giroud isn’t fully fit.. that’s why he wasn’t starting.. getting frustrated now earning that needless yellow.
Well.. am glad we got Perez.. hopefully he’ll integrate fast enough for the next game!
COME ON!!!!!!!!!
Oh Oliver what have you done
Steve
Nope been here for the whole debacle and to be honest with you brother embarrassing the way we played in the first half
BB – How can OG be not for and yet starts for France? He started last week for France.
“holic on a hat trick. But that could have been a win had AW got it right from the start.
Never in doubt. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Not sure what Giroud did but if he doesn’t pick up that ridiculous first booking then he finishes the game.
I’ll take a point all day. Fuck knows how it happened but I’ll take it. Cavani is still a top class striker and I’m glad he had a massive off day.
We got very lucky tonight but looked a lot better when we played with some shape.
Good night folks, the footballing gods have been kind to us tonight. That’s a great point all things considered.
Great result .. considering how we started.. but we had help..namely from a brilliant Ospina and… a superb Cavani living up to his reputation!
๐
Mustafi and Perez needs to hurry up and get going if we are to amount to anything this season.
Opps, not fit
Didn’t Giroud get stupidly sent off in the first CL match last season too which cost us the match and nearly cost us qualification? Didn’t he learn anything? Bumbaclart
It looks like everyone is on 1 point in our group – 2 1-1 games.
Was it 2 Yellows cards or a Yellow & Red card for OG?
OG lost the plot and not for the first time he has shown he has anger issues there was no need to block Veratti if I have spelled that correctly. First half complete shambles we conceded after 42 seconds of play I really don’t know how Wenger motivates his team because they looked lethargic and not interested to start with. It really makes me wonder how he set his players. We have tons of tallent in the team so why game after game we look so shit?
Barrack
Yes he did this time he got to yellows last year he got a straight red
