Arsenal Set To Sting Real Poachers Again?

Over the last decade we have rather enjoyed putting one over Real Madrid both on and off the pitch. The Spanish giants kindly paid for our state of the art training complex at Shenley when they took the young Anelka off our hands for £25 million.
Probably out of spite they then attempted each summer to prise Vieira and/or Henry from our grasp, and on occasion Wenger also. They were firmly rebuffed at each attempt despite the highly questionable methods they employed.
Arsenal ended the ‘Galacticos’ participation in the European Champions League just over a year ago courtesy of a Thierry Henry wondergoal in the Bernabeu. They must still be pretty mad.
Nobody is surprised to read on their official website that they have ‘spoken’ with Arsene Wenger about their annual managerial vacancy. It seems that Spanish clubs are allowed to approach who they want, when they want, with no fear of retribution from UEFA.
Yet even on the day that Madrid president, Ramon Calderon, again rides roughshod through the rulebook they appear to be preparing to feather our nest once more.
Calderon is quoted in the Mail as saying that they would now like to keep Jose Antonio Reyes. Obviously they will be looking to drive a hard bargain, but their hand will not have been helped by the Liverpool cash that could fuel a bid from city rivals Atletico.
An eight-figure cash sale and the removal of Reyes from the wage bill could provide a major boost for Arsene’s close-season rebuilding. I wonder if Bernd Schuster has ever seen Alex Song?

Sorry to be picky, but I think you mean London Colney not Shenley
Pass, the club did train at London Colney from 1961. Yes, they have only moved ’round the corner’ but the location of the new site is in Shenley.
Sorry, I stand corrected!
It’s not even round the corner. Watford moved into our old training ground and they’re right next to eachother. There’s just a footpath and a hedge between them!
