Arsenal Put Virgin In The Frame, And Thanks Third-Gen
Feb 4th, 2008 by 'holic
I have to be very brief with this but thank you everybody who has sent me the link to the article on Arsenal.com that puts Virgin Media in the frame as the reason why UK cable subscribers do not have access to Arsenal TV.
Interestingly enough when I made my first complaint to Virgin I was told by them that they were waiting to see what the demand for the service would be, but that the volume of complaints they were getting was proof enough of that demand.
Funnily enough it looks as though I am finally about to get a response from Setanta after they realised my original mails had been forwarded to the wrong group. It will be interesting to see if they point a finger at their broadcast partner.
Anyway, Arsenal are making it quite clear that you should direct all queries to Virgin Media and provide the contact details. I certainly intend to drop them another line to see what their latest response is. (Apologies to those outside the UK who are still hamstrung by FA Premier League broadcast restrictions, a separate matter).
Thanks third-gen
You may have noticed that the inaugural ‘Arsenal blog of the week’ award from third-gen has come this way. I’m embarrassed, of course, but also glad sending him that case of Bollinger seems to have worked!
It’s a subjective award though and I know most of you, like me, will be surprised. I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. We Arsenal supporters are extremely lucky to have a very large number of excellent blogs and websites, catering for most tastes.
The numbers don’t lie, and Arseblog will always set the standard, but check out the links in my homepage sidebar and you will find a selection of sites that consistently produce great work. Well done all of you, and thanks.

nice one Goonerholic, I hadn’t visited your blog before so I guess third Gen’s idea is working. Particularly liked your piece on Billy McCullough.
Nice one, ‘holic. And on newsnow too, I see…
Nice one GH; “Up THE ARSENAL”
Thanks people. I hope you are right about third-gen’s idea working EH. I must admit I’ve stopped taking newspapers now because I don’t have time for them AND all of the blogs/fansites. I just cherry-pick the articles that catch my eye off the various news aggregators. I’m hoping 3g’s initiative will unearth some new gems that I’m not aware of. Anyway, thanks again all.
Goonerholic, seems like Guardian’s helping you and fellow Gooners to fight the case:

Good luck! 😉
Great work holic.
Thanks Lou, that is good news. I’m surprised that the press hadn’t picked up on this sooner. Looks like they were waiting for some sort of response from Virgin. Get those complaints in people.
Well done ‘holic.
Some recognition for excellent work, ‘holic. Well done.
Bravo ‘holic.
Congrats GH!!! I got here via third-gen’s mentioning your blog, and I plan to come back often. I’ve already added you to my iGoogle Arsenal page of RSS feeds.
