Not The Friday Night Preview
Mar 9th, 2012 by 'holic
At last. Friday night. It’s been a long hard week but at least now I have a chance to preview this weekend’s game. What? Monday? That cannot be right. It has clearly confused Arsene as well who I have just watched talking about having Andre Santos ready for Tuesday, or maybe it was a coded message?
In his press conference he did that wry smiley thing when pressed on the topic of Lukas Podolski.
“I have not a lot to say about that because if we sign a player we will inform you. At the moment we have not signed anybody. There is still no agreement.”
Now I do try to steer clear of transfer tittle-tattle, particularly outside of any window, but this one does appear to have moved from the realm of speculation into almost accepted inevitability. I hope it happens although I would imagine a couple of faces at Highbury House will be upset at the leak, which appears to have come from Cologne. It would not help to speculate on why that might have happened. Let’s hope Arsene is proven correct when he hints that we may have more news in “two to three weeks”.
Of course everybody has an opinion on what the deal would mean, ranging from he has been signed to replace Robin van Persie, to he has been signed to persuade the skipper to follow suit now we have demonstrated our ambition. I believe the boss entirely on the subject.
“Our plan is to keep Robin van Persie even if we buy any player.”
That would make perfect sense. It is also quite a mouthwatering prospect. Dangerously my mind wanders, peering into the post-Euros future. An injury-free Gunners squad assembles. Jack Wilshere is back to add energy and creativity to the midfield (dare I say like a new signing). A midfield that has Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Francis Coquelin pushing the likes of Alex Song, Mikel Arteta, and Aaron Ramsey for a starting berth.
Perm any three from four up top. The skipper, Poldi, Theo Walcott, and Gervinho. That looks a little light, doesn’t it? Perhaps suggesting one priority for a further summer capture, another of Arsene’s slightly built wide men? At the back perhaps another quality defender, preferably a left-back who can play in the middle, rather than the other way round.
And there is why I try to avoid such speculation. It is meaningless, pointless.
Injury-free Euros? Full squad in August?
Dream on ‘holic.

First?
First!!!
Well in BS..
Shit no!!! Back to my Sauerkraut then!
You had to wait until I posted a drink on yesterday’s, ‘holic? ;p
First should, indeed, have been mine.
Choucroute tonight, DanC?
Top five?
thinks: You’ll never persuade anyone you’re a smartarse if you can’t even count up to five.
Drinks all round, please, barman.
Nice dream though, Sir!
Heh Oxon. And thanks for the drink.
Green shoots of revival, Ollie. π
Evening all. Sorry I was a bit late.
next season we are likely to have Ryo and Campbell as forward options to go with RVP, Pod(if signed), Theo, Gervinho and of course AOC, with Chamakh and Park leaving
If Arsenal put a team into the Eurovision song contest, we’d probably pick up an injury. (Gibbs – broken voice, Diaby – broken)
So yeah, dream on Holic.
BUT, hopefully Podolski is an attempt to get things done early before the infernal international competition starts.
Beers for the usual sussies, invoice to Stockholm π
Fair point, eduardo.
Wotcher mate. Hope all’s as well as it can be.
Good looking squad for next season if we can keep our good players and move out the dross. Oh and of course avoid injuries……
First is so overrated. 16th is where it’s all at.
Haha, Marseille lose again. Despite having Remy and Valbuena back.
At this rate, they may not even qualify against Inter.
GTerry – sorry old chap, but you lost me with the “doesn’t forgive or forget ” thing to Zico in the previous drinks ??
‘Holic – please explain “injury free” – “full squad” ?!? These are totally alien concepts to me !
Good to see that we’re getting our business done early this summer though – at this rate RvP will be all signed up before the Eurotrash begins – as indeed he will need to be.
Trev. I think you will find it is still winter??? Meteorology not your strong point??? π
Well spotted 8ball! What I meant, of course, was in preparation for the summer. You pedantic trans-atlantic you ! π
Just seen the photos of Andre Santos (disappointingly one ‘e’ short of being Santa Red Nose !) and he is smokin’.
Surprisingly not literally ‘smokin” – this guy is a real character who has been massively missed. Looks a stone lighter than in the summer too.
West Upper – any more room in your parallel universe ? π
ESSO!
Yes mate. Busy, and management knocked a bit sideways by a couple of ops in ten days, but we’ll be fine.
Trev, we actually haven’t done our business early quite yet, but I agree with the sentiment. Euros plus potential Champions League qualifier means act fast this summer.
Actually, I’m just back from A&E.
One word of warning – the Dyson Ball Cleaner is not what you might think ! π
Is that universe big enough for all of us, Trev?
“…If Arsenal put a team into the Eurovision song contest, weβd probably pick up an injury”.
heh..Dr Zee is back maties..
..and DanC: …There are no prizes for being first on Goonerholic – it just proves that you didn’t read the post first…so don’t get into that bad habit…(0;
Trev @ 18: Really Trev??
GT @ 26
Arsenal’s revolving door to the treatment room, has induced some cynicism in me over these last few seasons, it’s true.
And I do hate international football (unless Arsenal have no players involved in which case I can usually ignore it completely).
It’s good to dream ‘Holic.
Trev @ #21 – Spectacular. My fave left back in the whole world will now be referred to as Santa Red Nos or ‘SRN’ for short. Nurse!! π
You look in the Mirror and see a Face, but it’s no one you remember.
You wonder where your life has gone, what you found, what you were after.
You want to say you left the world a safer place, but you can’t really.
Perhaps you never could.
But we have a good life the other half and i.
We don’t talk about things we cannot change.
We are very civilised in that regard.
Wolfie drops in from time to time,he is very good like that.
He gets on well with the other half,as you would expect.
He brings us up to date, stays for dinner.
Of Feelgood, nothing, but that’s the way he wanted it.
He hates Nostalgia, even though he is part of other people’s.
There’s no such thing as retirement, not really.
I think a lot.
I’m embracing my reading.
I talk to people, ride on buses.
I’m a newcomer to the Overt world,but I’m learning.
Clive?
Bit deep for a Friday night, innit?
Some (probably Wolfie) might shorten that to Paedo Tranny. But I do have my transatlantic dignity intact, if nothing else. π
GT – are you trying to rile me just ‘cos it’s FFF – ‘cos if you are, I’m gonna get my mate LegRash in here to do a job on you.
Where is he anyway ?
‘Holic @33 – as the actress said to the bishop!!
That has to be your new moniker 8ball !
PT @34 – make that SPaedo Tranny . . .
Pedantic Transatlantic you should think of another way to shorten that name.
So who is Ped Trans then – was that not you 8ball?
8ball @39 – seriously, agreed.
Evening ‘holic and holics!
Ollie @5, ja, mein herr! C’est tres bien! Lovely jubbly! π
Dr Z @12, hee hee! I can’t wait to hear Engelbert Humperdinck’s Euro-trash on my iPodolski!!!
Eduardo @11, that’s a top striking line-up – nice balance between established and up and coming! Sweet as…….
Trev @24, it never loses suction though! π
GT, had a quick read and was about to post in the middle of my romantic sauerkraut meal but the management caught me fiddling under the table and was none too happy!
‘holic, hope that all’s well soon with your management!
Trev @18, ‘holic @23,
Early signings, early finish then the showers – sounds good! Abit like our procurement of “wee Mozart” pre-Germany 2006…..
Thanks DanC
Hope the sauerkraut was tasty π
Yes where is LeGRash?
Zico@12 π
DanC@42: Fiddling under the dinner table with other than the management requires a certain finesse. When I read the phrase “romantic sauerkraut meal”, I fear you may not be starting from a position of strength.
ABB@464 previous: re; Nasri, ‘Holic is entitled to quote back at you to the words of John Maynard Keynes, “When the facts change, I change my mind. What do you do, sir?”
Also, re Nasri, as I have pointed out before, he is not a French lesbian. He is a Spanish actress, http://images.zap2it.com/images/celeb-72265/ariadna-gil-1.jpg
Heh,
A little off topic – but considering its Friday – check out Gerard Depardieu on Graham Norton (or the replay during the week). He must be 23 stone or so, his jacket doesn’t fit and the general theme is slagging off the French and Fat people. Then there is Gerard, he’s got an interpreter, a belly and a black tooth and he’s mopping the floor with Norton and Guests..!
Holic, Too much ‘buzz’ going around not to be true and I’m really excited about him joining our lads in their quest for utter world domination. Just want to add something for Ms. P., here’s hoping and wishing you are soon enjoying all the simple pleasures in life most of us take for granted.
I fiddle with The Lamplighter’s other half under the table π
NBN @ 45 Ha Ha, I was risking a red card from the ref with that one. But still I was so delighted to learn that Holic (once) held my Sammy in such high esteem ( sighs for what could have been ). Well good nite lads, off to work.
its nice to see rangers are nearly gone,,really does make me feel all warm inside,,,,good riddance rangers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice post Holic , glad things are looking up for Mrs H .
Trev @24 Heh π Dangerous bastards those suction thingamees .
If Arsenal are putting in a team for Eurovision , please let it be PHW (naked ) , Lady Nina (also naked) , Ivan (in stripy jim-jams) and the ladies team goalie Emma Byrne (very naked) all singing “Save all your kisses for me ” .
Trev @36 π
Ned @45 All good stuff π
It was lovely ‘holic, cheers bud! Been washing it down with a nice jug of Hefeweizen whilst the management sticks with our usual Friday night rouge! Lovely Jubbly!!!
All in celebration of our new German iPod, the BFG, young Eisfeld and hopefully Arsene Getz Gotz!
With all that said however, if an early finish is desired as appears to be Le Prof’s strategy currently in play, E Hazard (not M Hazard as some tiny-totts might have erroneously understand!) is more likely before commencement of the Euros! Personally, that’s who I’d prefer if I had to choose one of Gotze or Hazard! Both would be tops though before per-season!
Wrt Hazard: he’s already said he’s leaving Lille this summer and wants to come to the EPL;
we’re a gorgeous and educational football club with a soon to be technically-unbelievable and self-replenishing squad with the need just for the odd worldy buy whenever desired;
we’re probably the most stable club with incredible long-term potential (Chelsea looking for another Oligarch’s puppet to manage their geriatric, yacht holidaying divas into retirement and try to integrate their “average” young players;
Manky-Oil will dispose of Mankini when he fails to win the EPL;
ManU will dump all of their budget on the ageing Sneijder and;
the tiny totts π , well, ‘arry’ll bugger-off with Rosie to pick up the f-FA’s poisoned chalice and leave Levy to balance the Spuds’ “book of failure in CL qualification”!
Happy days! π
I’ll drink to that Dan . Very well put Sir .
Ned @45, I fear you may have been right! Usually works with the Bratwurst though! Lol! It’s amazing what that Dyson Ball Cleaner can do!
Wolfie @48, Tabs @51, hee hee hee! π
Yes indeed Takeabowson – I’d certainly be up for a Eurovision entry with Lady Nina – not so sure about Gazidis though.
Personally, I’d get old ‘Arry Yappyapp to front the band, and we could do “Making Your Mind Up” !
Tabs @53, π Happy days ahead! No cookies for me tonight though, feeling abit vulnerable after the speedos!
From the last set of drinks:
Zico @ 485, oh on the contrary my friend, I think I do on some level or the other… πΏ
True Storey & BathGooner @ 499/500, incredible link up play! Especially with the assist of TV’s Alleged History π And the confusion in front of goal makes it an even greater goal!
GoonerTerry @ 512, Good Sir! I’m not a bum, nor have I had any indication of myself being a bum. I will, however, endeavour to keep you updated π
DanC @ 519, I feel the same way, Per seems like a kindly ‘older brother’ kind of soul π
Ollie @ 527, same, I only watch the El Clasico’s to be honest, and I don’t remember the days leading up to Cesc’s departure, all I remember is reading a tearful blog from Sian @ ibelieveinarsenal about him leaving. Maybe it hasn’t fully sunk in yet :s
eduardo @ 11, very nice attacking foray.
The Lamplighter @ 31, deep. 6 foot deep even.
Guys… I’m going to change my Twitter handle from @AlexAFC6 to probably @WindAFC6 cos @HurricaneAlexAFC is too bloody long π
And since its still #FFF, Catalan, you a Englishman living in Spain or what?
GoonerTerry, I bet you have Usain on as #9 on your Speed Dial π
Mr Hill Wood Sir , no surprise that you are “up” at this hour . Is Lady Nina attending to all your needs ?
Arry will indeed be singing “Making your Mind Up” . However in a surprise move , he has elected to sing for Liechtenstein . It is more in keeping with his “nil points” policy .
Mancini will be singing “Puppet on a string” for the Italians .
Takeabowson, Lady Nina is indeed catering to my every whim.
She is presently, in the light of this evening’s received wisdom, refurbishing the newly acquired Dyson Ball Cleaner. I’ve had her replace the nylon brushes with fluffy duckling feathers. Thank Christ we had no time to try the bloody thing out this morning, before Trev posted his advice.
Loving Feisty F*cking Fridays by the way chaps.
I see even Arsene has joined in today, praisng that Moyes fellow at Everton for the great job he has done, right before they play the Spuds tomorrow. That will rub old Redknapp up the wrong way.
You know Moyes – he’s the one with all that Toffee stuck over his front teeth.
Excellent choice Sir π
Don’t you mean “Congratulations!” – boom-boom bang-a-bang!
TABs: Actually that song is perfect for `Goonerholic as a fitting closure to another FFF and new boy DanC ‘fiddling away under the table’ …oh what a day: http://youtu.be/ykKNC6NjgMc
HaHa !
Hurricane @ 57: No Usain’s speed dial is 6 – Rhymes with ‘Pricks’ to remind me of the team he supports…heh (0;
*notices Wind sitting in the corner, wondering to himself ‘what the hell are this lot talking about?’ – collects his coat, heads for the door. and home to Lady Nina. Can be heard shuffling off, singing ‘save all your kisses for me . . . . *
And it’s G’night from him.
DanC @ 52: I was cheer-leading for E. Hazard until he ‘was rumored to’ declare he wanted to go to the Spertz – well he can just fuck off if that’s true…and if its not true then…well he should have come out with a statement like: “Who me? Go to them cunts? Don’t make me laugh! Ha!” or something like that….
GT @ 65, nice cover π
PHW @ 66, I read ‘Behind The Arse’ man. I know the world for what it is, and I thought I was corrupt already before clicking on that tab… π π
I believe all yuze guys could use some professional help π
NBN @45 – what a coincidence. I used that same quote earlier today in conversation.
Laters. *grand opening – grand closing*
BMBD
LG@70: Keynes is the gift that keeps on giving. You never get a good quote out of the Austrians.
DanC@54: if you are going bratwurst, you might as well go for the whole kielbasa.
Tabs@51: cheers.
Your Eurovision trivia for the night: the first British entrants’ second husband died during their honeymoon. There’s not many people as know that, and fewer who care…
Morning
Holic. Eduardo and Dan C; I hope to see Benik Afobe drafted into that forward line next year too. Hopefully Chucks Aneke gets an introduction into midfield too.
If iPod signs then for me we just need one more defender. TV5’s Ajax mate? And a steady back up keeper.
Do that and I am getting seriously excited about next year.
Injuries permitting…. π
Wind
Claro, seΓ±or
Funny you mention this topic Holic,
I’ve just had a little chat with my brothers and fathers about this last night.
We really have no idea how we’ll have only 25 players next season.
Let’s presume that AA, NB, Park, Chamakh, Denilson, Squillaci, Almuna, and Fabianski will leave.
That leaves us with:
GK – Woj, Mannone, Martinez
RB – BS, CJ
CB – JD, BFG, Kos, TV, Miquel, and Bartley.
LB – AS, KG
Midfield is where it gets tough –
Frimpong, Aoc, Jacky, Aaron, Arteta, Lansbury (who just signed a long term contract, another loan would be pointless as he’s been loaned out for the last four seasons, and wouldn’t have been signed for a long term contract if he wouldn’t have a future at the club), Eisfeld, Coquelin, Diaby, Song, and Rosicky.
Attack – Miyaichi, Theo, Poldi, Gervinho, RvP, Afobe, Joel Campbell, Yossi (or maybe another striker i.e Matias Suarez).
That is without mentioning another signing of the Goetze or Hazard ilk to prove ambition to RvP.
Our squad is way too big as it is right now, it’s gonna stay too big next season as well.
I seriously have no idea how AW will register all these players.
Morning ‘holics.
I think there will be loans for a few of those you have listed, Snir.
The key will once again be moving on well paid deadwood. We have to make room for at least another two signings on top of Podolski.
Nice post ‘holic.
Would love to see Jackie, Coquelin and AOC get a go as a midfield three in the reserves as the first two try to get match fit.
As mentioned before, they could be our midfield three for a decade or more.
Am getting slightly more optimistic with each win and each positive story but am always mindful of recent history.
Don’t let us down Arsenal, please don’t let the latest green shoots of hope get trodden into the ground.
@75 Snir. Don’t forget that under 21s don’t count towards the 25 squad limit. Difficulty could be greatest for the following season.
Here’s this seasons squad list. Would need to cross reference against the players bios to check their birthdays but think we should be okay.
http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/arsenal-submit-their-premier-league-squad
Holic – All these have been thought about and I don’t really see any loans to anybody apart from Frimpong and Miyaichi.
Another loan for Lansbury would mean no career for him, and therefore no point to extend his contract.
All the others are already first teamers or about to make the big step (Afobe and Campbell).
Herbie – True, the 21 rule does help us but I’m not sure we have enough HG as it is for next season.
Besides, most of that squad is over 21.
Regardless of registering – I still see a problem for AW to keep everyone happy with so many players for so little places in the team.
Snir, I think at least 11 of those players were u21 at the cut off date for next season.
I’d also suggest that Afobe, Eisfield and Campbell (if he gets a permit) would need a loan to an EPL side as their final development before making the first team.
From what I know, Afobe was supposed to be in the first team this season had it not been for his injury.
Eisfeld is just a guess, not more than that.
As for Campbell, I’m pretty sure, that with no options up front whatsoever (Poldi and RvP only), AW will try to keep Campbell especially as he’s been doing great at Lorient.
Catalan @ 74, ο»ΏAh usted… π
Snir. Just had a look at the squad you suggest (not including goest or hazard) and based on Arsenal.com our squad would be:
20 registered players, of which 8 would be home grown plus an additional 12 u21 players.
We have space for 5 non-homegrown over 21ers plus unlimited u-21.
If the sales you suggest appen then we have no problems at all.
Snir @75 ,
Of the players that you mention ,Jenkinson , Frimpong , Coquelin , Wilshere , Oxo , Campbell , Ryo , Afobe , Martinez , and Eisfeld were all under 21 as at the 1st January 2012 and will not count towards the 25 .
That brings your numbers down to 22 players .
Of those 22 players , only 17 can be “foreign” .
Assuming Woj , Mannone , Djourou , Miquel , Gibbs , Ramsey , Lansbury , Song and Theo all qualify as homegrown .
On the basis that the players that you say will leave , actually leave , then there will be space for for another 4 “foreigners” .
Registration will not be a problem .
Just for the record and on an unrelated note , I will be surprised if Lansbury and Bartley form part of the squad . I think Lansbury will go out on loan to a Premiership Club and Bartley will be sold . I think Lansbury was given a new contract to preserve a transfer fee .
Benayoun is only supposed to be with us till the end of this season so there’s that as well.
Wow, a pre-preview, good stuff.
It’s the weekend and no Arsenal, kind of like an interlul but then not.
It’s very un Arsenal to have so much talk about a player coming in at this stage of the year and thats got everyone going a bit transfer do-lally.
It’s way to early to speculate about who will be in the squad next season, let’s get this one out of the way first. Don’t worry Snir, me ol’ cobber, we’ll have plenty of time to tear our hair out, gnash our teeth and worry about such trivial things in a few months time, that’s what summer was made for. π
Morning ‘holic & ‘holics,
Hope all enjoyed their porridge oats this am?!
Interesting convo regarding the squad list, and had this same chat with a few top-gooner bro’s when young Eisfeld was purchased in the Jan window!
Herbiegooner @84, I concur with your analysis; we’ve got nothing to worry about wrt to the 25! π
Snir @80, I see your point wrt happiness but they’ll be plenty of matches next season to comfortably rotate those of top quality that have a future at the club! The mood in the club and the players’ personalities will also be key! I don’t foresee any Stamord Bridgesque or Manky-Oil divas in the squad so no worries there. I’m sure Arsene will use the loan system fully at least until the Jan window where he’ll reasses our needs for the run-in and ditch a lot of the sub-standard squad members on higher wages for a nice wee profit!
GT @68, yeah, Eden was a wee bit naughty then and should’ve denied it all but I like to think he was starting his Spuds wind-up and teasing of their club in advance! Look at how excited they all all got and how the ‘arry and tiny totts lovin’ went to a whole new level! Result!!! π

Heh H2H.
Hello
Dribbles……
…wipes mouth…
Bolton 2 – 1 QPR
Miyaichi didn’t do much, I think he wasn’t too comfortable on the right but he did provide an excellent assist for the winner. Barclays Man of the match folks.
Ryo had a fine game for Bolton today, although he looked less explosive overall on the right wing than he does on the left.
Traore played really close to him throughout and, with his pace, was able to keep him quiet in one-on-ones. So Ryo resorted to some excellent lay offs and early passes. He has better natural instincts than Theo. I expect to see him start quite frequently for Arsenal next season – an exciting prospect.
Funny to see him running off and being applauded by Boltonites. The cultural chasm he must be experiencing between Yokohama home life and Bolton is quite mind-boggling. “Ae’ op Ryo lad, how’r yer fettlin?” No doubt he’ll be off down to his local chippie for some sushi n chips?
Heh BtM.
The Okazaki wonderkid comes on the blind-side, nicks the ball and plays through a tantalising pass that’s begging to be put away………….it’s a MotM performance at the Arsenal EPL-blooding club! Sparky’ll be “sick as a parrot” after that performance! Hee Hee Hee!!! π
Be interesting to see analysis of how many attacking players Wenger has brought in over the years who are left footed. I may be wrong but I think the percentage is freakishly high..
Hopeful hoof towards the goal
Do they have a range of sushi pie oop north?
I saw Ryo play quite a few times for Feyenoord last season, he looks promising indeed.
====
And ofcourse hello back, Ollie.
Scores when he wants
*read; doesn’t have a clue what he’s doing.
But hey, they all count.
H2H…. well in, looked effortless from where I was…
BtM, with a bit o’ graaivy?!!! “Oooh by eck that’s nice”, he mumbles under his tiny Japanese voice!
BtM @ 95, π
If you can meet the hoofed ball, its always going in the back of the net π
Well in H2H for the cent, and great assist WU π
H2H, clinical!!!
Cheers West.
DanC.
You forgot to add;
-y insane.
H2H @89 – Nice link and heh π
Why can’t I have a red name ? π
You mean things in Japan are different to Lancashire?
Wot, no red bricks?
Nice one Ryo – how do you like them apples Sparky?
(Jeez, so many questions…..)
… and not to mention a superb goal . Particularly impressed by the part Oxon played in the build up ! π
Glad you noticed that mate, I need some hits to move it up in the search machines, so this was me trying to be subtle. π
I want to be red too 8)
“John Terry starts for Chelsea, with Frank Lampard and Didier Drogba reinstated to the starting eleven”
Way to shake things up Di Matteo.
If you look closely you really should be able to see the strings.
Nice Japanese century, H2H!
Does this make me red?
@ 115
Red and read π
Ollie & Zico, I think Wolfie would agree with me when I say, ‘Red doesn’t suit you two’ ^^
H2H @107, π
Fuller sent off! Shit!!!
Have to admit to feeling quite pleased Bolton have leapfrogged QPR . Whilst in the overall scheme of things it might be better for Arsenal if Bolton rather than QPR go down (on the basis that a hop skip and a jump to West London is often less problematic than a trip to the North West) , QPR these days are pretty grim .
Yes Bolton have a Chairman with a head so small that you immediately want to pick up your snooker cue (the only problem being that you can’t decide whether to start beating him with it , or aiming him into the top pocket) , and yes they do still have Kevin Davies and that animal who nobbled Diaby a couple of years back , still on their books . However I do have a sneaky regard for Coyle , who seems a decent sort , and of course they have our very own flying Japanese Express Train , ( cheers for the updates BtM , Ignasi and Dan ) .
QPR on the other hand have nothing to recommend them these days save for distant memories of our very own Frank and of course Stanley Bowles turning out for the hoops .
From their new publicity seeking Chairman , to their utterly unlikeable handshake-obsessed manager , from their utterly ordinary ex-LWC who seems to think he’s Pele to their plagiarising Scouse psychopath who seems to think he is modern day Football’s answer to Albert Camus whilst all the while displaying an intellect that would shame a deeply intoxicated gnat and the moral fibre of a deranged serial killer .
Rotten to the core – I hope they go down .
Think I’ll give Chelsea a miss , supporting the Neanderthals from The Potteries is just too painful .
Think I’ll go go and find myself some Toffees . π
H2H – Pleased to be able to help ! π
Dr Z , Ollie – You Buggers !!!! Wish I wasn’t quite such a Luddite . π
“Not a mention of Andreas VB in the programme notes by De Matteo today….” says Jeff Stelling.
Wow, what a scandal.
And in any event, what else would you expect from the Kremlin?
@ tabs – whoever takes points off them (Chlesea) is fine by me – we can claim the moral high ground against Lennie et al later, by tearing them a new one.
Oh, and nice Ludds. π
Podolski sent off?
Oh well, he’ll play less games now before he joins….. π
Good afternoon gentlemen. I hope this sunny day finds you all well and finds the team resting up their weary limbs in preparation for a Herculean effort against the barcodes on Monday.
Holic, I hope the management is recuperating well. Interesting post there mate, what have you been drinking?
Oh look, TGSTWHES has scored v the Mugsmashers. He does owe us that.
TGSTEL, heh.
A scandal indeed Dr Z – zero class .
Good point re Stoke .
I can see this linking malarkey is gonna take me all day to work out at best . This looks like a six- pack of cans and a twenty cig job .
Off to the shops π
Don’t forget the toffees TaBS.
I stand corrected zico.
Afternoon Bath .
The Prince of Denmark scores ? Well I never . Two in two weeks !! Stick another mill on the asking price π
Heh Baff, I wasn’t correcting you – our posts crossed.
Besides yours is correct – The Greatest Striker Who Hardly Ever Scores sounds about right…
i think he can walk away this summer as contract ends this year, does it not?
heh zico…also liked the earlier observation about the Eurovision Song Contest.
G’day Holic & holics I see my buddy TABs woke up in fine form today. Don’t believe anyone who tells you home-made cookies & milk muddles the brain…(0;
Bath , I believe The Prince is contracted to Arsenal until 30th June 2014.
Hey GT π

Sorry Zico, the morbid curiousity of where Wolfie would link to, when he comenders Tabs computer got the better of me.

Wotcha one and all!
I see the Chelsea OAP’s revolution has well and truly begun! Can’t wait for Italians to tear those c**nts a new one midweek!
Tabs @119, certainly was a dilemma but I’ve kinda got a begrudging respect for the Reebokers cos of Coyle’s nursemaid skills (and cos the guy who picks up my car for servicing’s a mad white-man)! Additionally, the “4 year Planners” have become cocks and the addition of Hughes over Warnock certainly hasn’t helped!
Toffees one-up against the “other North London Club”! Hee Hee Hee! It’s squeaky bum time already ‘arry! Sweet as……. π
I’ve come over all red! Oooooh!
Dr Z @143, π kids!!!
Kids today. Biology students…
Your place looks really nice H2H
Carlos, sign up H2H and Lonestar for security!!
DanC: Wocha mate…well Chel$ki have just resorted to their “Pensioners” label…heh (0;
GT @148, Well mate, once a week’s usually all you can muster when you get to that age! They’d better bring out several of Trev’s “Dyson Ball Cleaners” at Colney! π
Even for the Casanova, Giggs!
Well played the Linesman!
Monkey Boy thinks he’s C Ronoldo with his posing at free-kicks …heh (0;
5 minutes?!! Where the fack did that come from?
Go back to your slums you cunts (0; 1-0 to Everton!!!!
Heh Twitch,
“Arsenal are closing, Tottenham are faltering…..”
Jon Champion, ESPN
Spurs lose.
Bordeaux 2-0 up.
Not bad so far.
Not so great when the heat is on are they?Club in crisis?
Glad to see Bale’s diving being highlighted, fucking cheating bastard.
Win on Monday night will be so sweet.
COYG
A perfect day here in Turkey and elsewhere, methinks. Chelsea just about ground out a result against a 10 man Stoke. Liverpool lost – thanks Bendtner! And St Totteringham’s Day appears to be on after all. Knowing this Arsenal, Chelsea winning just might spur (yuk! sorry!) us on to see off the barcodes. Something for Arsenal to fight for! On Monday, COYRs!
Hee! Hee! Hee! Now for the barcodes and job’s a gud ‘un this round! Lubbly Jubbly! COYG!
Only time for a quick stop, but bloody hell that was a marvellous result at Goodison Park! Looting Town are now seriously being dragged back into the fight for fourth, and if we can produce a result on Monday that would be effin brilliant. Couldn’t watch the game for various reasons, but will try to find a MoTD stream later tonight π
And tabs, I am sorry I ever doubted you and for a while actually thought that rabble could win the league…
Larsene eventually knows π
No problem Lars π
Liverpool lose ! Carry on Kenny !
And the LWC’s just return to their usual laughably incompetent tosser selves .
Oh how I’m enjoying this π
BEHIND YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!!! (but not for much longer) .
H2H , you’re a Gentleman and a scholar Sir , now where’s this Leave a Reply button π
DanC – Coyle’s nursemaid skills ? That’s just cos you like milk !
Monday night starting to look like it will be a wet one.
Inside. πΏ
Monday NIGHT zico???
I’m starting at lunchtime, me π
GT @ 139, Aww twitching poo! π
Zico @ 143, don’t you mean, “The Youth ‘have’ today?” π π
ILars @ 160, you should be ashamed good sir π
I’ll save my laughter and joyous tears until 9:45 or so on Monday Evening when we’ve tonked the Barcodes far enough out of the race for 4th to trouble us no more π
Is it me or is there the smell of Lasagne in the air?!?
This could be the best st.Totteringham’s Day EVER!!!
Defeat snacked from the jaws of victory….wonder if they’d consider changing their club motto.
To top it off they’re tearing each other to pieces on vtial spurs….quality! (and before you ask a close friend supports the spuds)
I <3 Lasagne 8)
Top man Snowy,
I’d love to join you – that could see my contract of employment come under prompt review though π
We can compare notes at Villa, though right?
Everton have done the business so we owe them our support on Tuesday when they can go above the Mugsmashers with a win. That’s one side of the equation to turn the tables. The other is for Arsenal to take full advantage on Monday. It could be Everton above Liverpool and Arsenal above Sp*rs in the flash of an eye. π π
GREAT to see Bendy and Vela both scoring today. We need them to keep that up and one goal per game from each right through to the end of the season. Plus, a wonder performance from Russia’s Finest for Zenit till the season’s end then for Russia in the Euros.
I reckon that could be worth about 20M to the transfer kitty.
I’m expecting the following:
Almunia (1M)
Manone (4M)
Squillacci (4M)
Denilson (5M)
Lansbury (4M)
Bartley (3M)
Chamakh (7M)
Bendtner (8M)
Vela (5M)
Arsgavin (8M)
Poldi and Super Mario in and I’ll be happy with that.
BtM @ 170
Keep taking the happy pills with those valuations!
zico@161: better late than never, right? π
Ha ha, the bindippers have helped themselves out of the so called race for fourth, as for the LWC’s, if they continue in their current rich (varicose) vein of form then they’ll be scrapping for sixth (where they belong) within a few weeks time.
Win on Monday and we’ll have ’em. It’s time to get out your Sunday best, hang up the decorations and uncork the bubbly…..
St Totterings Day is coming into view.
==========
147.Cheers Dr C.
Had a butchers at your link….. Not too shaby, sir, not shabby at all.
Last time the spuds lost 3 in a row, Yappyapp replaced Wendy Ramos.
Couldn’t help listening to the phone-ins whilst cooking a bit of nosh tonight . Hi-fuckin-larious !!!
One LWC after another queueing up to have their say – all about as well-versed in the arts of communication as a mute skunk .
“They need to go on ‘oliday , week in majorca will do ’em the world of good ”
“Arry’s distracted , he needs to say what he’s gonna do ”
“Arry hasn’t got a clue . Bale in the middle is a joke”
“We ain’t even gonna finish 4th”
Boo hoo boo hoo .
Quieten down you soppy tossers . The World is realigning , the natural order is being restored , and there ain’t anything any of you mugs can do about it .
Acceptance is the only way forward . Now repeat after me you Lillywhite fools …
“Forever in the shadow of Arsenal ” .
Reckon you’re about Β£23 mill out there BtM π
@ 175
Said it before (last drinks I think)
Drongoes, the lot of ’em
Great minds Dr Z ? π
Mark Hughes robbed of a clear goal … no-one likes to see that π π
BtM@170: more important, that would be $30m+ off the annual wage bill, or money that could, alternatively, be used to pay for three $100,000 a week salaries and two $150,000 ones.
Random stat of the day: The last season there was no St. Tott’s day, Wimbledon and Crystal Palace were in the top division. Good chance this year that not only will there be an exceptionally festive St. Tott’s day, but we shall also regain our crown as the Capital Kings that has been temporarily residing at the bus stop in Fulham since 2004-05.
Apparently, he is finding them apples not all that……
Ned @179, I’ll raise a glass to that! Salut!
“sources”
Gobshite Dein?
http://www.thenational.ae/sport/football/manchester-city-strike-agreement-for-arsenals-robin-van-persie
Zico @182 Dein’s wet dream……..chill…
Here is a scary story about Birmingham City, http://bit.ly/yJrIma. The club has reportedly had to pledge all its assets to HSBC to secure its loans. That is the risk if you don’t run a club self-sustainingly. Also this was a secret deal struck last October, but only come to light now. What the f*** is the FA up to?
Couldn’t happen to a nicer bunch, of course.
I’m chilled WU,
“Sources close to club and player” I could only think of him.
Unfortunately, we are going to have to put up with this sort of shit for a while, probably till after Holland are out of the Euros, at least.
BtM: Regardless of whether we can get that much for those on your list we would still save a few millions on salaries so its still worth getting rid of them….we already have good replacements among the kids to step right in:
Almunia (Martinez)
FLAPPY (Manone)
Squillacci (Miquel)
Denilson (Ozyakup)
Lansbury (Afobe)
Bartley (Martin Angha)
Chamakh (Campbell)
Bendtner (Aneke)
Vela (Miyachi)
Arsgavin (The Ox)
I would keep Manone because I believe that he will become better than Flappy..
Zico @182,
“The National” – Manky-Oil’s bullshitting rag!!! Laughable! Murdoch’s rag-tops have got more integrity!
“And Manky’s attempt to dominate the world by buying their rivals best players continues”! Gael Clichy???!!! “World Class”???!!! Hee! Hee! Hee! Suckers!!! Dein jnr’s rapidly becoming a complete cock!
Ned @184, This will certainly become a ubiquitous occurrence and although it’s awful for the true fans and the ordinary folk that work around and with their clubs, it might just be the painful reality check that is needed! After all, shouldn’t the real world apply to everyone at some point?!
GT @186, Nice breakdown! I agree with Manone too but I’d like a descent and experienced older keeper around the club to mentor all the boys including Woj! A cheeky bid in the summer for Brad Friedel would be sweet as……!
Harry came “this” close to telling the reporter to fuck off..lovely: http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/17328633
GT bit harsh on a diamond geezer like loveable ‘arry… as he said they battered em in the 2nd arf..
Personally I couldn’t give a toss about the England side, so I can’t make my mind up if I want him to get that job or stay on with the LWCs and do a Pompey with them..
Nah I want him to stay and wreck the cunts…but the speculation about the England is also working a treat as well because it has unsettled them. Funny the other day when united were leading 3-1 the mancs were singing “Harry for England”. Wonderful (0;
Hello fellas…
Tabs, Herbie – Accept your point re registering the squad (I’m pretty sure Arsene has a plan π ) but my main worry is keeping everyone happy and not hearing about how Fabianski wants to leave, and Chamakh, and Park every day…
While I agree with them that they should leave as their careers are dithering, it doesn’t (IMO) do a whole lot of good for the squad to be talking/hearing about players wanting to leave and not “committed to the cause.”
Trev, Steve T, Snowy, TS – Y’all got mail.
I realise that this will be unpopular, but I don’t want the other North London side to go down.
This way we get the chance to stuff, humiliate and cream them twice a season. If they were relegated we’d only be able to do it once in a blue moon in one cup or other.
Snir, may you carry on your winning streak π
Oxon, breathe easy, whatever happens, I can’t see them going down this season. :p
DanC/Catalan @ 146/147, watch it lads, one day you’ll be leader of the pack, the next alone and exiled to roam the heartland… π
NBN @ 179, I’ll join DanC in raising a glass, the question is what goes in the glass…? 8)
GT @ 186, excelllent substitutions, bang on the proverbial money π
But Oxon, if they were to go down, the victory in the cup competition we meet them in would be so more the sweeter! π
Terry@189: Harry is quite clearly on the verge of losing it big time. Now, I can only go by the MoTD highlights but other than the Saha chance in added time, did they really create that much? His comments after their loss last week also point in the same direction, he came out with the classic head-in-the-sand-type stuff like “well, I’d rather be where we are now than where Arsenal are”. I’m not saying that we’ll definitely finish above them (we do have a few tricky fixtures left to play so things can change quickly) but there is no doubt that several spanners have been thrown in their works.
And speaking of MoTD, the other day I stumbled across what seems to be the most brilliant app for iPhone and iPad. It’s called FilmOn Plus, and on it you can watch a bunch of TV channels for absolutely nothing. The app is free, and among the channels you can watch for free is BBC1/2, ITV1/2/3/4 and Channel5 which means that last night, I could watch MoTD and the Football League Show as they were broadcast and not have to wait until this morning to download them. Well worth checking out for anyone who wants to be able to watch British tv outside of Britain.
Snir@192: I think it’s pretty much impossible to keep an entire squad completely happy. Just look at Barca, even they lose players who are not happy with their playing time.
*backheels it into Wind’s path*
Red Ollie?
Sounds good Lars. I don’t see FilmOn Plus, but I see ‘FilmOn Free TV Live Football Sports News’.
Is that it?
Shoots!
‘It’ is now a goal π
Yes, Harsha, it’s the new chant, more politically correct than ‘Red Army!’
My hair is back to its best red since yesterday also.
Adds one to the assist Column
Nice goal Ollie, but how do you get the red? using the [r] tag?
Very nice Ollie π
*runs over and wipes the boot clean*
Ollie: Yup, that’s the one!
Harsha: use your mind and you will find out in no time.
I heard the sound of a rifle after that ball went in, Wind π
Morning all,
This morning’s 4S will be refreshing.
Mind the gap!
Morning Boss π
Ollie, I’m known as Wind, The Young Hurricane and many other things, but maybe I should add ‘The Sharpshooter’ to my Repertoire π
Harsha, watch out.
There’s Reds under the bed. 8)
Red is so cool.
Aaaaaarrrrgh !!!!!!
Snir @192 , what Lars said @197 .
In a squad of 25 plus unlimited under21s , you will never have a situation where everybody is happy . Indeed , it would be very worrying if they were .
Give me a Fabianski who is unhappy he is not playing over an Almunia who has been perfectly happy to pick up his money for the last 19 months with minimal chances of actually playing , any day .
Well in Ollie .
Oxon , agreed . The ideal position is that they hover JUST comfortably above the relegation places , (no last day escapes to give them any excitement) , and we thrash ’em twice a year in their cup final .
Arry’s interview was marvellous . The Twitchometer rose appreciably to Warp Factor 9 . Only a matter of time before he explodes , and the myth of genial ‘Arry is exposed .
Afternoon folks.
Red certainly seems to be the couleur du jour aujourd’hui…
I’m rather liking it π
tabs@213: good point about Almunia. Is he even training with the club in any way, shape or form? And his chances of playing are not minimal, they are non-existent because he hasn’t been named in the squad so he can’t play no matter what. At least his contract expires this summer so there should only be about three more months of wages to pay now.
Oh, bloody hell – I’ve switched on Middlesbrough-Leeds through the afforementioned FilmOn app and Colin Wanker just appeared on my iPad screen. I had completely forgotten that he had taken over Leeds. And I just remembered that Leeds have also signed that clogger Paul Robinson on loan from Bolton so there’s two reasons right there for hoping that Boro will tonk them.
Right, think I need a beer now. Barman, a pint of Boddington’s, please and one for everyone else who wants one too!
Alright then, I might as well go red too!
Hooray for red Lars!
Good point TaBS. My dream season for the other North London side has long been that they should hover just above the relegation places before ultimately escaping, so they can spend the summer looking forward to two more tonkings the next year.
I’m trying very hard not to consider an alternative, possibly superior version. Maybe I’ll be able to consider that prospect more calmly in May/June and share it with you all.
Nah, I don’t really like myself in red. Makes my bum look big and all.
Et tu Snowy ..??? Lars ? Oxon ? π π π
Proud to be Black !!!
Good man Oxon . Bum size is also the real reason why I refuse to go red .
Cheers for the Beer Lars , but this mockery will not be easily forgotten !!! π
New chant for tabs:
“He types his name, in black and white
He types his name in black and white
He won’t go red; is he a Luddite?
He types his name in black and white”
π
π π
Oh my word, Justin Hoyte just made a proper arse of himself and gifted Leeds a goal to go 2-0 up.
Top Man Snowy comes up with some Top Song Lyrics!
Good old Wolfie
We’re proud to sing that name ,
While we sing this song ,
His typeface stays the same !
tabs name, still in black!
tabs name, tabs name still in black!
Just playing with you kids !
That Tabs is a bit of a thickie . I, however , am made of rather better stuff !
π π
Name’s black coz he wants, name’s black coz he waaaaants…
According to Smallballs…
His name’s black coz he waaants…
Red Wolfgang – epic!
π
If Wolfie can do it , I’m pretty sure I can do it too π
Oh dear, what have I done?
The Rolling Stones once spoke about seeing red doors and wanting to paint them black, but it seems I’ve started a name trend in the opposite direction.
You’ll be calling me, Jack Migger next. π
A Sunday Lunchtime round on me, please barkeep.
Red from a long way back. I think my uncle was a union man too. π
“Now report THAT, you fucking cunts!”
Magnificent stuff, tabs!
Cheers Lars π
Afternoon H2H , what have you done indeed ? The possibilities are endless !!!!! π π
Ooh Swansea miss a pen .
Serves my right for trying some shameless self promoton.
Some of the links are great though, great gunner songs, speedos from WS and a link to DLL from Zico, classic.
I had the footy on here in the bar, but I’ve got a large group of Dutchies that commendered the TV for the skating, ah well, majority rules.
*On less of corse the gunners are on, in which case they can stick their skates where the sun don’t shine. Service with a smile and all that π
Back to Black.
Black is the new red – you read (ahem) it here first….. 8)
What ???!!! Just when i was getting the hang of it ? π
Red Wolfie linked to Speedo Heaven – π
Nutjob.
Dr Z @121 ,
Poldi made of the right stuff methinks π
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-2113219/Lukas-Podolski-sent-attempted-headbutt.html
Oops , forgot the link .
Twas never a headbut tho. Did you see the footage linked by Ollie on the arses. Bent his head (forcefully) to get opponents arm off his neck. Never a butt. Not sure what the red is actually for. But he does seem to have his coach by the shirt collar on a still photo on his way off!
yep. that link. why was he red carded?
Headbutted someone Bath , apparently , and then grabbed his own coach by the neck as he left the field !
Love a nutter , me π
Ah fair enough Bath , I haven’t seen the link .
Bit disappointed he didn’t lay someone out to be honest .
A striker who can get his head on the end of things…. π
Or not?
Never a head-butt?
Nancy boy….
Heh – up yours Mancini
1-0 Swansea, seven minutes to go. That means that ManU are top of the league, then. I don’t really care who wins it of the two Manc teams but it would be a bit funny to see Abu Dhabi United go entirely potless through the season.
Ha, Ha City, flag up…
Haha, Sian Massey (correctly) flags off Richards when he thought he had equalized.
I am staying Black thanks!
Sorry, Lars, but Mancini, Viera etc and their “project” can do one as far as I’m concerned – together with a certain someone who didn’t leave for money…..
Joe Hart scrambling back up the field, what a cracker finish!
Please, Arsenal – get the result tomorrow and this weekend will have been near-perfect…
Lars/ Tabs/ Oxon: While I have a certain sympathy for the “hoovering above the relegation zone and then just escaping” tactic, who can deny the rush of adrenaline we are beginning to feel as we close on the wankers? So this is what I want: Spend millions, start off looking like a prospective challenger, have everyone talking about the balance shifting to N15, then we play them and the rest you can all make your own ending….for me I am just loving this ending….anticipating seeing Harry explode on national TV when the FA hierarchy are in the stadium giving him the ‘once over’ would be worth all the gold in China…or something {0;
Don’t think about it GT. Just keep an open mind to the possibility.
G’day all!
I see England doing rather well in the rugby?! Is ‘arry in charge???!!! π Really enjoyed his “Kevin Keegan” moment yesteday! Hee! Hee! Hee! The wheels are coming off the ‘arry love-wagon!
My dream end to this season: 4th place for the “other north London club”, relegating Chel$ki to Europe’s Plate event, then failure in pre-CL qualification to a side called “Grasshoppers”! Nice!
Tabs @242, wotcha mate!
Typical Anti-Arsenal-Player propaganda that article! iPod’s transfer must be completed and just awaiting announcement!!!
From what I’ve heard about Podolski’s sending-off, our new “vorsprung durch techniker” wasn’t the instigator as he was grabbed by the neck first (he quite rightly then demonstrated that to his coach, and didn’t attack him as the bullshit caption to the pic states!). The ref apparently apologised for the incident after looking back at the footage. An appeal’ll be in the offing i’ pretty sure!
Lars @197, thanks for the app tip! Lubbly jubbly!!!
Lars @256, Spot on!
Then Napoli to spank Chel$ki on the counter attack in their own back yard, Bilbao to murder ManU in Spain, Sporting to stay solid against Manky-oil’s mercs! Sweet as……… π
Dr. Z. Black is the new red? Surely not until we bash the barcodes, at least?
Heard that a couple of the Abu-Dhabi mercenaries were arguing with each other at half-time! Any truth in that in lads?
I can see why you would think that 8 ball, but black and white is NOT the new red π
Dr Z @247 and 248 π
GT @253 π
Dan – Wotcha , yep agreed , hadn’t seen the incident when I posted the link . Nothing to it , just trying to escape from the other guy’s hold .
Like Lars , I haven’t got really strong views on the Yanited/Shitty thing , but I think I just come down on the Dr Z way of thinking .
1. Shitty are more corrupt/immoral .
2. A certain greedy carpet-muncher .
3. Another year closer to Financial Fairplay which whilst having obvious limitations will have SOME effect .
4. More used to Yanited celebrations and therefore better equipped to deal with them .
Whatever happens , I will just pull the duvet up , pretend its not happening , get out my copy of Shoot september 1975 and gaze at the double spread of Chippy Brady ! π
SHitty winning it is meaningless, and based on that, I prefer they win rather than the other unbearable smug Mancs.
Also if Shitteh win, perhaps they’ll be less odious about Robin.
Hi ‘Holics,
finally a chance to check in and catch up.
Nice work up there from Tabs, doing a bit of Spud bashing – well why wouldn’cha ?
BtM – please report to The Quackery at once. I haven’t a clue what we can do for you yet, but those valuations of our hopefully-soon-to- be-departed are, well, worrying . . .
Mannone and Squillaci – Β£4MILLION !
Denilson – Β£5MILLION !
Chamakh – Β£7MILLION !
It gives me no particular pleasure to say I would give them all away, just to get them off the wage bill.
I normally love and share your optimism, but I’m going to have to dip into the CMC with you first this time π
Yanited or Citeh ? Who cares ?
Just want us to “give absolutely everything until it is mathematically impossible” after which I won’t care, and if we are 3rd, after the season we have endured, that will mean almost as much.
Have reserved a seat on the “3rd Place Open Top Bus” π
Too right, Trev.
In fact, it’s like all the years we don’t win the League, I can’t possibly tell you who won.
Don’t agree Ollie – any “success” that Man City manage to “achieve” will just encourage their behaviour – the only thing that will stop them throwing money around is when they are not allowed to do so.
Hell of course has more chance of freezing over….
My preference for Utd to win it is a personal work related thing more than anything else – normally I would prefer they were both in a fight to the death which they both lose – like tabs, I will pretend its not happening when it does.
I just remembered Evra.
Definitely prefer City win the league over Man U.
Joe Hart is no Hussein Bolt. Just saying…still pretty entertaining stuff. Really want Woj to score before this season’s up. TV could cover for him, heh.
Middle eastern Sprinter?
Careful Ollie – do you really want to see a huge smug Nasrian grin behind a League Championship medal ?
Maybe I’m beginning to side with zico . . .
Tabs, are you at The Tollie tomorrow ?
Alright Trev , heh @267 and 268 .
Any room on that Bus for me ? π
Not going to the game Trev , but will be travelling back from the City around that time .
Hoping to pop into the Tollie if I get my timings right , but can’t offer a definite Yay I’m afraid .
Who was it who said this morning that Vital Sp*rs makes great reading?
So true – if you want to put a grin like the Cheshire Cat’s on your face, get over there and just feast your eyes on the sight of those whining little nancy boys bitching like spoilt children about how crap ‘Arry is.
Seriously, they’re worse than our own doomers. ARRY OUT NOW plastered across the comments in 74-point type.
I believe the most apt thing to say at moments like this is: Suck it up, bitches!
That, and, North London is ours – now get back in your box!
*draped in red*
Hey Zico, Think about it, he has that something special, our Woj. He has a tiger in his tank!!! Time for him to let it rip and go for the gusto. Speaking of gusto, what about Wolves’ captain Roger Johnson showing up to scrimmage drunk this week? Maybe he was partying with Dr. T. and Nurse Wolfie.
I am with Dr Zee and TABs! Shitty winning the title will be a vindication of the ‘spend your way to the title’ philosophy. Already the Arsenal is being viewed as being old-fashioned because we want to exercise a bit of fiscal responsibility. Here’s is what could happen to us if the Arabs and the Russians get their way: http://yawandmog.wordpress.com/2003/06/12/kahlil-gibran-the-wise-king/
Nice one Harsha, suits ya π
Seat reserved Tabs – hope you can make it tomorrow.
Snir – mail returned.
Nice link GT. My sentiments exactly. Another season with smug Mancs changes nothing. I am fed up of the $hitteh fans who have come out of the woodwork and are already talking of RvP in sky blue next season. I want them to learn that they cannot buy success.
Quite like the idea of drinking from golden goblets mind….
I’m with Dr Z, TaBS, GT and Bath. If Citeh win it will be seen as justification, only slight problem is that if they don’t win, it will be seen as a reason to throw even more money around. I think that Abu Dhabi pockets are deeper than Russian ones, and they seem plenty deep enough for the moment.
Any word on who’s likely to be managing at the Bus Stop come August? Anyone care? I’m not sure I do, mind, just curious.
We’re all pretty much immune to uppity red Mancs by now, but a big, chinless grin is just plain nasty.
Another thing to think about while we are reveling in the other English teams demise in the Champions League and TOTO Cup is that it may well affect the EPL’s ‘co-efficient’ and means that we lose the extra place in the CL. The Italians are doing well this year and so are the Germans so they may well get above us in the ratings. What that means is that competition will become more acute when the qualifying places are reduced to just three…just sayin’ like..
Trev 273. Yep, don’t mind that when compared to Evra winning it.
Nasri is an irrelevant cunt.
EVra is a gigantic despicable cunt.
Or 274 even
I’m afraid the ‘spend your way to the title’ has been ‘vindicated’ by Cuntski some time ago.
I don’t really see any novelty.
Anyway, it’ll all come back to what Trev said: whichever cunts win it, I won’t be watching them lifting the title, I won’t be reading the articles in the papers etc, so fuck them all.
Hello team,
Watching Barca live, will start on some sort of preview at 7. Turning into a golden weekend what with Everton, Sunderland, Swansea, et les Rosbifs π
More beer…
Hellolic
HiOllie @ 290: ChelSki will only be vindicated when they manage to create a dynasty like the other big clubs. Right now they are just a small club who got lucky – like Nottingham Forest did – and history will consign them to the same fate. Time my friend, is longer than rope….The Arsenal WILL prevail. We have NEVER been wrong. Ever!! We set trends. We make history. And fiscal responsibility is THE way to success. 50% of EPL clubs are within a hair’s breath of going under like Rangers – a huge club by most standards. So keep the faith..
Well said, GT.
GT @ 293 – wise words; completely agree.
GT – I agree but think you’re being a bit harsh on Forest there, who got promoted, then won the league, then won two European Cups (along with two League Cups at a time when that competition was still a big deal), a pretty incredible achievement. Yes, they couldn’t keep that up, but unlike with Chelsea that success wasn’t bankrolled by a sugar daddy.
And I think it would take a fair few more barren seasons before the Premier League loses its 4th CL place to be honest, and can’t see things heading that way.
Terry@287: the Premier League is a long, long way away from losing a CL spot. Even with this crappy season in the CL/EL, England have won more ranking points than any league bar La Liga.
http://kassiesa.home.xs4all.nl/bert/uefa/data/method4/crank2012.html
Oh, it’s nearly century time.
*releases ball on the left hand channel*
High ball into the final third…
…hares down the wing and air-kicks…
If it has to be one of the “Northern Monkeys” π it’s Yanited for me! I just couldn’t stand it if that French Lesbian-looking cunt & the carpet muncher won anything!
EVra is a cunt but at least he’s a consistent cunt – gotta admire him for that! Furthermore, he’s single-handidly fucked-up the season and the world-wide reputation of the Red Sousers and their demi-God Dalglish! What a subversive Cunt! π
GT @287,
I don’t think that starts becoming a problem unless it occurs for 3 seasons in a row! The Italian league’s still pretty average if you ask me cos our AC away leg was a freak result that we’ve well and truly put back into reality and perspective now!
Napoli’s victory (i hope) over the Bus Stop in Fulham is cos they’re just a poorer and declining side that’s existing in a false and deluded fantasy world potentiated by their “Golden Generation” loving media hacks!
Three posts not coming through now.
WTF?
Weird stuff, I had to un-red myself.
It’s the Way of the Future, Ollie. You know it makes sense.
Previous re-red-ing didn’t work.
Try another website
Evra is a fucking cunt. With his eyes all over the internet.
When I put my website as http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZUyEFjzjKM4
which worked until drink 294, my posts don’t get through.
FUCK YOU EVRA
Heh, those comments are back on now awaiting moderation.
Strange.
Evening ‘holic!
GT @293,
Well put sir but abit harsh on Cloughy’s Forest! π
I’ll rever to black.
Less hassle π
+t
Perhaps Akismet objects to the word cunt, Ollie.
I can’t imagine why π
Charlie: I didn’t want to underplay Forest’s achievements – which were marvelous by any measure. I simply wanted to emphasize that they went from a position of local and European domination to being consigned to anonymity by history in a relative short space of time. Chelsea have not even achieved half as much so that only re-enforces my point…
Heh ‘holic.
It wasn’t in the link itself though π
Well in DanC for the 300! Even tho the ball seemed to bounce of your Arse while you were looking the other way (0;
…err
Granted I posted as 299, but I believe “they all count”.
Yours is the legit one, Oxon.
My comment at 298 has now been validated, so your air-kick wasn’t really one, you did get a touch on the ball!
Opportunistic!
Grins sheepishly.
A drink for for everyone please, guv’nor. Mine’s a Bunnahabhain.
Well in Oxon, I knew it was gonna be a sure thing π
Lars: I see what you mean regarding the EPL’s co-efficients. I was concerned by Le Boss’ concern when he stated recently that English clubs were under threat from the other ’emerging’ European clubs in the CL…
Ollie: Is it possible that you hate the cunt Evra more than GoonerTerry? Naw…not possible is it?
P.S. Proud to be still BLACK…welcome back Ollie (0;
wtf?? Stewards Inquiry! I smell a rat! What’s going on? Why was DanC’s fine goal rescinded? Why. why, why?
Trev @ 267 – you think I under-valued them? Oh well, go on then, add a couple of million each. π
And did you notice, when we win tomorrow night we’ll only be 15 points of first place! I have a pleasant warm feeling in the under-belly. That is one gap that needs closing. (The other, of-course, is Evra’s mouth).
My 298 eventually appeared where it belonged, GT.
