Montpellier Preview and Win A Robert Pires Signed DVD
Nov 20th, 2012 by 'holic
Another big Champions League night for Arsenal. As we know depending on the results of both matches in Group B we could progress to the knock-out phase on matchday five, making for a less fraught final group fixture in Greece. It would bring about a fitting extension to the feelgood factor that has engulfed the club as a result of the massive North London derby triumph on Saturday.
Massive isn’t too big a word for it. Three points won’t make our season, but the loss of any of those three points would have brought about something we don’t have to consider for a while longer. Progress in Europe’s premier competition would also give everybody something to look forward to in the new year. Something less to provoke waves of discussion, not all of which might be constructive.
There is mixed team news for the visit of Montpellier (who I had to point out to someone earlier weren’t the eighteenth century ballooning brothers!). Left-back Andre Santos and forward Theo Walcott miss out through injury, but by a strange quirk of fate left-back Kieran Gibbs and forward Gervinho are fit to return to the squad after recovering from injury. I have a hunch Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain will take Theo’s starting berth ahead of Gervinho, but that is based on nothing more than gut feel. The rest of the side that wiped the floor with the neighbours deserves a chance to maintain that standard.
The French champions are going through an awful spell at present, have injury doubts in key areas, and have just one point from their first four group fixtures. Frankly we could not have wished for a better chance to put right what clearly went wrong, somewhat unusually, in our last home European fixture against Schalke. Overconfidence would surely be the most serious threat to us returning to winning ways?
The ‘holic pound follows the general air of wellbeing about the club and is based on us preparing thoroughly and coming out confident and positive. Under such circumstances if we get an early breakthrough we turn into the proverbial flat-track bullies so I am on 4-0 and hope to convert that pound into several tins of Guinness. A caution to any occasional visitor. The value of my investment will invariably evaporate!
So, those who are going, I hope you have a memorable evening. I know a couple of the ‘holics are making rare visits, and if you want to share in the wide-eyed joy of one of them, Wind, check out his take on his first NLD in the drinks (comments for non-regulars) on the last post. I should warn you to make a pot of tea and a couple of jam sandwiches before you do though.
Some of you will also know that one of ours has been very unwell of late. I know you will all wish to send your best wishes to Gooner Terry. Me too. Tel, stick at it big man. Sometimes we are reminded that petty online arguments are not really so important in the greater scheme of things.
Now, let’s lighten the mood again. It’s competition time and you can win a new Arsenal dvd signed by my dear friend dreamy Bob. OK, so I spent parts of one sponsors day with him, but let me enjoy my fifteen minutes or whatever. Read on, my friends…
WIN ‘ARSENAL GREATEST PREMIER LEAGUE GAMES’ DVD SIGNED BY ROBERT PIRES
Gunners legend Robert Pires was in town last week when he visited The Armoury store to sign copies of the new ‘Arsenal Greatest Premier League Games’ DVD.
The former French international was greeted by 200 ardent fans who queued for their chance to meet the ex-Arsenal midfielder.
The DVD brings together the very best Arsenal action from the Premier League era, with more than 60 matches from the past 20 years featured across three discs, including the title successes of 1997/98 and 2001/02 and the unforgettable 2003/04 ‘Invincibles’ season.
‘Arsenal Greatest Premier League Games’ is on sale now in all official Club stores, priced at £15 and we’ve got an exclusive copy signed by Robert Pires himself to give away. To be in with a chance of winning, just answer this question:
How many times was Robert Pires on the losing side in a north London derby:
A) 0
B) 1
C) 2
Send your answer to competition@goonerholic.com to arrive by 9am (UK time) on Friday 23rd November and I will announce the winner on Twitter on Friday lunchtime, and you will get a mention in the Villa preview on Friday night. (It might save time if you include your address with your entry. I will not share your details with any third party). Thanks to Arsenal Football Club for providing this cracking prize.
Good luck ‘holics.

Feelgood factor?
Oh go on then.
Guinness and a Moroccan Gold chaser. 8)
Jubeautee!!! Chelski Ouuut?
Up The Arse!
To the post.
Eyes feeling better, Holic?
Great to hear that Gibbsy and Gervinho are back in the squad, not so much for tomorrow but for the five games coming up in the league that we’re going to win. The pendulum is swinging back towards the Arsenal.
All I need now is Thomas Eisfeld on the bench?
Wot! No chevrons?
4 nuffink ‘h – i la-la-la-la liiiike it!
All the best to GT.
UReeeeedddss!
Asasmoah outstanding at LB for Juve against a very hapless Chelski. (Ashley Cole pretty good too – just saying.)
@GT: Sorry you’ve not been well. Good luck for a speedy and complete recovery.
It’s good to see such massive confidence from the Guv’nor. Looking forward to the result tomorrow. Out, as usual, so won’t be able to watch the match here or in person.
Hope that NorCal has a memorable debut and Wind enjoys his second match of the week as much as the first. You will be providing another write-up won’t you?
COYG
DRRRRRIIIIINNNNNK!
holic@441 in the previous drinks; I just went back to do that thing but you got in before me. Thought it was only polite to read the post before popping back.
Eyes seriously strained, BtM. Long day and night today. 😉
All for Eisfeld too. The midfield remains a little thin-looking.
You sound desperate there, young ‘H!. Have one on my tab.
Second defeat of the week for crisis club M********r U****d. Fergie AHHHHHHHHT!
H2H, thanks for pointing out my FFL performance. I never check it.
100 points eh? I’ve had worse weeks 😉
Delighted to hear Gibbs is making a comeback – hope he continues where he left off.
GT, you have mail when you get round to it.
If Wind posts another drink like the last one, then I will need to take a few days off work to read it. 🙂
Another one like that and his Blackberry will melt 😉
what an interestin’ night of fubble
har de har hars all round methinks
🙂
Cracking posts earlier cba, sorry I missed them at the time.
Really need those lotto numbers to come in so I can jack this paid work in and blog full-time.
Let’s hope we can progress and in so doing build up some momentum. We have a tough game at Everton and a few testers at home but the side we think(hope) we have got can really put a run together.
I agree about AOC.He looked very confident on Saturday and I suspect our Ivorian may start on the bench. So possibly may Gibbs but if he does play Vermaelen will be lucky to make the starting 11. I’m very keen we start defending well again and keep feeding Giroud as we have been recently. 4-0 will be great but my bet would be on 2-0. Just as important that Schalke beat Olympiakos.
Cheers Holic.
Back in sunny London…. Oh wait.
Anyway, very much looking forward to a good run of form following the beat down of the LWC.
I promise to get Wind home at a reasonable hour so he can start work on his second thesis of the week. 😉
Great stuff ‘Holic and thank you as always!
On the subject of Gibbs and Gervinho coming back, well, that is good news..
But…
Want the GREAT news?!
“We will miss Santos as well, who has an abdominal muscle strain.”
YEEEEEEESSSSSSSSS!!!
Surely that is an eating related injury?!?!
Good stuff boss, I think the French will give it there all against us tomorrow, try to restore a bit of pride, but if we bring our A game we should have more then enough for them. I hope your gut feeling that the Ox will replace Feo is right, looking at his earlier choices this season I think Le Boss may very well plum for Ramsey, we’ll just have to see.
The return of Gibbs does open up a conundrum about what to do with the out of sorts Verminater, to play or drop your captain, that is the question?
Gerviniho will make a nice addition to the bench, a decent option for when defences are tiring.
Thanks for the e-mail, I’ll get on it asap.
===
@14 You’re welcome and well played.
===
Have you all seen what that Shagedher Donuts player did?
Booooooooooo. He’ll be at the Chavs next season.
Speaking of which, ha ha ha ha
howdy ‘hol
to be honest – the tripe that falls outta the side of my head pales into insignificance when up against Wind’s tweet+
made an oul fart like me crack a big smile
On the subject of thank yous, can I say a massive thanks to those who have used the Thierry Henry book link to order other stuff from Amazon.
To put into perspective why I have a day job, this months earnings from Amazon finally take me over the £25 mark at which I can withdraw some wonga.
It’s only taken three years, seriously 😉
Thank you though, that is a few months hosting and I am really grateful to you all.
Thanks for the Email Holic. Will get on it right away.
Wishing you all the very best Tel.
Hello ‘holic & ‘holics.
Zico @ 15…Pretty sure Gibbs will pick up right where he left off if/when he starts.
He usually does anyway.
Can help but wonder why injury prone players tend to pick off right where they left off after weeks of injury unlike other “normal” players who tend to need a game or two to get back up to speed.
Gibbs & Diaby are examples. The greedy Dutch badger is another.
Holic @16…Hehehe…Funny…Almost slept off phone in hand last night trying to finish Winds drink.
Off to read the post.
GT
Raising a rare drink from me nowadays to wish you a speedy recovery. Not sure what ails you, but am certain that you’re in better hands than The Quackery 😉
All the best.
The quite amazing thing about Wind’s drink…. He wrote it on his Blackberry!
His blackberry. Incredible
I think it’s pretty amazing that anyone still has a Blackberry…..
Only joshing, I’m sure they’re not as bad as everyone tells me. 😛
Good post ‘holic.
4-0 is a tad too optimistic for me though…I’d settle for a 3-1…Can’t see us putting four unreplied goals past Montpellier.
I hope i’m wrong though & the ‘holic pound comes through.
just stuck on a bit o’ King Tubby chez me
all the best GT
Fine preview Holic. You’ve been drinking BtM’s tipple clearly…expecting 4-0.
Glad to hear Gibbsy is fit – the balance going forwards will return and the left side of the defence will be stabilised.
Heh @TW21
I’ll take 1-0 myself. Just win baby.
Get well soon GT.
Best wishes to Gooner Terry…Get well soon.
Now Gooner Terry, You can expect a visit from me shortly. Think it only fair to warn you, you lovable son of a gun.
Holic, holics. Pretty sure we’ll do just fine tomorrow. But where it really counts, the character and integrity of our lads, our club and Arsene, we are light years ahead. Proud to be a part of it.
i’ve just discovered what the nom de drinks in red are
i clicked on zicoinexile and was hurtled towards dr feelgood
.
a fine night for me indeed was in a wee bar when wilko’s amp was fartin an splutterin and after him givin it a ‘wilko knows best’ boot to the side of it he surged forward and hit the side of my head with the headstock of his tele
brilliant
walkin’ on the edge indeed
4-0…..!!!
Heh – its not the fact that we’ll score four Holic, thats entirely credible. Its the thought that we won’t concede any that tickles me most…! 🙂
Zico – No disagreement at all good sir. I take that point fully and agree in full.
Thanks Trev, H2H.
Glass of Jamaica’s finest at the bar GT. Hope all goes well.
You heard it here first Joe 😉
Anybody who has been clumped by Wilko is alright by me, even accidentally, cba.
Has to be said he didn’t whack too many accidentally, if you get my drift 😉
Tel, you have mail mate.
absolutely ‘hol
a musical genius is a musical genius
was happy for the clump from his mad staredness
.
unfortunately never got any injuries off joey ramone
though i did hold debbie harry’s ankle
she kicked me off
in what i have historically edited as “in a loving manner”
Evening all.
The feel good factor indeed holic. Let’s hope it can it can continue on Wednesday. I must say that this is our chance to be proper flat track bully boys. 4-0 holic? I am aiming for that at half time. A big 6-1 to the mighty Gunners. Let’s be honest, are we likely to keep a clean sheet?
Welcome back Gibbsy. If he starts then it will be an interesting choice for centre backs. I would hope that we would go with the BFG and Kos. I thought Kos really started to look back to form on Saturday.
GT. Sorry to hear you have not been well. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
Anyone heading to the Tollie pre match? Hoping for a quick scoop beforehand.
Keep the faith.
Tomorrow may be my last live match during my time here, so I’m hoping the lads send me home from the Emirates in good spirits. I’m sure we’ll do well, confidence is high.
Are you coming to a few more matches before 15 Dec, Holic? I’ll probably make my way to the Tollington to watch if I can’t get any more tickets, anyway.
Who are injury doubts in key areas for the french side ‘Holic?
The two that scares me the most Belhanda and Cabella are fit.
Holic a win of any variety will do me fine. Will only get to see the first half and then will need to head to work 🙁
Well I thought I was an optimist 😉
4-0? I’ll take it all day
GT, wish you all the best with your health man.
Early morning to you holics. Woke up to comedy this morning on the CL. Due to my asian pedantics, I reserve my laughter until we’ve done the job on Montpellier tonight.
Wind, crazy long drink and it took more than 1 tea and a few biscuits to read it. Like a few have mentioned before, the amazing part is that you typed it all out on YOUR blackberry. Kudos.
If I ever get a chance to bump into you on my rare visits to the Tollington, I’ll get you an alcoholic 😉
Morning Harsha.
And yes, all the best with your health, Gooner Terry.
Holic poooond on a 4-0? I’ll have what you’re drinking, mate!
Then again, stranger things have happened.
Like the 5-2 deja vu.
Steve T, with you on Kos and the BfG playing. Really believe they are our best starting pair of CBs. I wonder if the captain might make for a good DM. Would provide for some rotation in the midfield, either directly for Arteta or allowing him to move forward so Santi could be rested on occasion.
Sliding through an assist
This morning I’m reading the preview at work, tomorrow, work may also be the first place I find about the result 🙁
– first call ‘ your waiting time is expected to be less than 8 minutes’. 12 minutes later ‘your waiting time is expected to be more than 10 minutes, we recommend you call later’.
-second call ‘your waiting time is expected to be less than 6 minutes’. I got through about 7 minutes later. They can see there is a problem, they’ve raised an alert, and set me an appointment for…. November 27th. Admittedly they say it’ll probably be cancelled as they’ll have fix the problem by then.
I should really fucking hope that they send someone today (don’t need access to my flat, as I told them, nothing’s changed inside, it’s just like someone’s disconnected something when they set up that fibre box downstairs). Truth be told, I’m not really hopeful for today. Utter cunts.
Steve-o, comedy?
I am yet to find about ANYTHING that happened in the world last night, football or else. No internet and no television. I could go on a one-man strike to at least call for the partial return of the analog age.
That would avoid me being totally cut off from the world in the evenings…
And a drink for GoonerTerry.
Ah, I now see that abb’s team beat the bust stop 3-0.
Morning to you all,
Nice post Holic, I have to say i’m not as excited as most people, with the return of Gervinho. I don’t rate him! I don’t wish ill tidings on him, but with him out it means the Ox would bet a certain start. The Ox has more talent in his left nostril than Gervinho has altogether.
I think this is just the fixture we need after the lush win against the tiny tots. It is a game we should win and thus see us make a big turn around in our season.
Other than than that……………..Arse!
Oh yea, heard we might have the Legend that is Henry, back for the start of the new year. Curious really……..
Cheers for that mate. Here’s hoping for another famous victory.
Ollie @ 51, if you can access this. Here you go.
http://www.101greatgoals.com/gvideos/terrible-sportsmanship-luiz-adriano-levels-for-shakhtar-v-nordsjaelland/
Heh, nice one cba.
Cheer, imb. Heh, spectacular. Brains, anyone?
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20421407
Was Tim Cahill there also on SAturday? :s
Completely forgot he was playing for Red Bull too.
Ah. Game day!
Back in London, NCA?
Esso, how goes it, mate?
Ollie, oui, the comedy of the missing bus stop. The Analog age can be a good thing every once in a while…unless we’re talking about it affecting the viewing of an Arsenal game!!
Good luck with that buddy.
Ollie,
Got back last night. Actually staying in a flat near the bus stop in Fulham. Glad to see them get stomped by Juve.
Think going to British museum this am and then get ready for the evening. Sweet.
Nice one. Hope Paris was all right. Enjoy your day!
Looks like Di Matteo has gone – he’s the new Tony Barton!
Looks like comedy is carrying on at the Bus Stop. Di Matteo got the chop.
Just read that. Seriously what the fuck is going on this week.
Wow. A little rough patch and Di Matteo is gone. That’s ridiculous. Why would you want that job. What a joke. Maybe I should walk over to the bus stop and cause mischief. 😉
Taken from Twitter:
Chelsea job lengths … Di Matteo 262 days. Villas-Boas 257 days. Scolari 244 days
Why would you want that job.
Nice little short-time earner, decent pay-off? 😉
If I ever had any thoughts about why I hate Ronaldo so much apart from being just a United player I got my answer.
He just came out and supported Palestine in the conflict.
Number 2 on my hated list after the Dutchman now.
Ollie,
True true. I just wouldn’t buy a house if I were hired by chelski.
Snir,
Ronaldo couldn’t spell Hamas if you spotted him Ham and Ass.
Nor Cal – http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-KuCqLKnnPl8/UEIkm-KO9pI/AAAAAAAAB1I/saMx4LXvL5Y/s640/Christiano+Ronaldo+Palestine+2.jpg
As I said. Number 2 on my list.
I wish him nothing but injuries. And yes, I mean it.
Matteo not welcome at the Bridge no more??? Net says he’s gone. Roman nose!
Oops, pardon – seems i was beaten to the punch re the rug being pulled from beneath the latest chelski temp story
With respect, Ronaldo giving support to Palestine is the least objectionable thing he’s ever done. Though I doubt he has a clue about the whole issue anyway.
Snir,
Wasn’t doubting you. I was just stating that Ronaldo is an idiot.
James in the previous drinks & @ 42, thanks, maybe I’ll see you at the Tollie today, make yourself known to the guy in a Suit with an Away Colours Trackjacket from last season under that for ‘warmth’ 😉 & an Arsenal Scarf on his neck or around his shoulders 🙂
GT, I hope you got my e-mails and are cheered up by them, this bar loves you & misses you! 🙂
Good post Holic, I’ll be entering that competition definitely as the intricate details of the 03-04 Invincibles Season escape me, currently watching it on Youtube 😛
To Oxon @ 8, Zico @ 15, Holic @ 16 (funnily enough, my Blackberry is on the fritz, screen has been going to white since Sunday’s effort & it has been turning itself off around 30% battery ever since I got to the Tollie on Saturday, maybe its saying “I’ve had it with the length of your posts! 😆 “, NorCal @ 20, (heh! I’m aiming to get back home around 10:30pm ish stations allowing since I have lessons in the morning on Thursday, you?), cba @ 23, DreamWright @ 26, Catalan @ 28, H2H @ 29 & anyone else that might be looking forward to another ‘thesis’ of mine 😆
Right now… I’m at the GP awaiting an Emergency Appointment. A combination of the Cold (I wasn’t near the heat of the Brollie for a long enough amount of time X_X & I took my Arsenal Trackjacket off at one point to proudly bare the Arteta 8 on my back in the Beer Garden 🙂 ), Screaming & Singing & Chanting my Support for the Arsenal against the Scum, a few pints + a dodgy but delicious Kebab and laughing for the total time of about 20 minutes with Top Man Snowy & Kevin in the cold has left me with a VERY sore throat & lacking in voice 🙁 . For all I know it might even be Laryngitis. Some causes of it are: Excessive coughing, smoking, or alcohol consumption (Blame Snowy & Kevin with their 2nd hand smoke 😆 ), inflammation due to overuse of the vocal
cords (Arsenal, Arsenal, ARSENAL!),
viral infection, such as the common cold and
influenza (Blame… The Cold? 😛 )
Obviously its not enough to keep me away from the Tollie & the Emirates, but I’m not feeling so Super, and so the vivid, lively, cheeky, handsome 😉 version of me that you may have picked up on in the summary of my 1st NLD may be replaced by a hoarse, sniffling, nose-blowing, still handsome 😉 version of me for today in a summary.
I never thought my posts would be anticipated on the level that BtM or tabs or Zico or Steve T or Delia and many others in this bar are with their incredible descriptive & emotive command of the Queen’s English, but since there’s such interest, I’ll do my best for you guys 🙂
The only certainty I can give is that by tomorrow… I’ll have lost my voice nearly completely if not fully doing my bit for the Arsenal by being part of the collective 12th man along NorCal and his kids 😀 UTA!
Chelsea sacking Di Matteo is kind of disgraceful, I mean if you look past the fact that they’re bankrolled by shifty probably stolen Russian Money… And that they sacked another manager in the same or a very similar position to the one Di Matteo was in yesterday… Or that their Captain is a racist adulterer…
Where am I going with this? 😀
Steve-o @ 46, thanks mate, think we would have got along at the Tollie according to Top Man Snowy on Saturday 🙂
I need to start eating more Hot Food (only got Custard Creams & more of my delicious Pasta that I described before in my bag for Snacks during the Day & Lunch at College (no microwave :'( ), has anyone got any recommendations for the Thai food or any kind of food at the Tollie?
Wind. I have to say that recently my Blackberry has also had the tendency to go from about 30% to 0 in no time.
Sorry to hear about your delayed lurgy, hope you feel good enough for the game tonight.
Runs like Grimandi when he used get the pitch with my magical assist for the 50. Leads me to think that jw10 will be scoring tomorrow.
I’d rather he scored tonight, Brendan. Unless you’re in a part of the world where the game is tomorrow morning? ;p
@81 Top Man Snowy? I thought Snowy was a girl! lol
The thai food at tollie is pretty good. Try the green curry, or the pad siyew (fried rice vermicelli).
The latter is a bigger portion for a growing man like you.
Maybe Brendan is in Asia, like I am, Ollie 😛
5:45 in the morning from where I am sitting, but fair call Ollie @ 84. Just feel the first goal for us will come from an unusual source maybe even Bac!
Ollie, I’m going to pick up some Penicillin with my prescription, go to college to tell my form tutor I had a medical absence with my proof from my GP, then stay there to read/study/game/play football or all of that until its time to head to the Tollie 🙂
Chelsea. Proper comedy.
Why would any decent manager take that job when you know you basically have to be kind of, you know, perfect if you want to hang onto it?
My other question is, are Chelsea more ‘sacky’ than Real Madrid now? I just remember when Del Bosque won the league and, er, got rewarded with a sacking!
For once there’s someone in here who can relate. Except that I’d prefer to wake up at your time, Brendan.
The game starts at 3:45 in the morning for me. Urgh
Camberwell – let’s not forget Del Bosque won two leagues AND two European Cups in four seasons before being given the boot.
Oh Steve-o @ 85 X_X
Lol Wind, not liking the food suggestions?
Sniffing about looking for the killer pass
Unfortunately I only get to watch the first half and then I have to go catch my train and head into work.…boo. Agree though that 2 extra hours is a bonus in sleep terms Steve-0 @ 93
Collects the ball from the center half ala Arteta, looks up and spots a run on the flank.
Like Gibbs in full flight, he latches on to the ball looks toward the middle and decides to put one in the mixer
So RdM becomes yet another casulty in the mad ruskies quest for football world domination, he’s now looking for his ninth manager since 2003, thats just crazy. The pay offs alone could probably sustain a small country through economic hardships.
But to be honest, is anyone really that surprised? From the very begining it all had a bit of a Sword of Damicles feel about it. I really think that RA gave him the job because that’s what the public expected, RdM was the opposite of AvB in that the he had the sympothy of the dressingroom, he was one of them and unlikely to rock the boat in any concievable way, he was in over his head from day 1.
The constant and very public pursuit of Guardiola must of been pretty demoralising too, it’s almost like RA wanted RdM to fail. He spent a kings ransom in the last transfer market, bringing in flair players, but, imho, as good as they are, they’re all the same player. This gives RA the ammo to fire him, pointing out the net spend and it was like he was just waiting for the first blimp to get rid of him.
Another chapter in the tragi-comedy that is The Bus Stop in Fulham.
Punts it forward……..
Sprints all the way into the box and KABOOM, smacks it in with my left shin.
Lays a ball to the open player
The ball had already crossed the line and Brendan is feeling a bit of a pillock after passing a ball that was a masterful goal by Steve-0
Nice assist H2H 😀
lol Brendan, you were only displaying Arsenal DNA 😀
Well in Steve-O and Heh.
You’ll get the hang of it Brendan, just see it as an extreamly early assist for the 200. 😉
Cuntski are a classless club, we all know that.
Having said that, please spare me the “What must Chelsea fans think, their owner is ruining the club” bull shit! Most Cuntski fans are wankers. Scratch that, all Cuntski fans are wankers
How the fuck did this tortoise looking cunt lead them to Champions league glory?
So Ollie, you are without television too? I suggest you go to a nearby ‘juicer’ to watch the game
Steve-o well in 🙂
I loved the food suggestions mate, but why do you think I used ambiguous terminology when I mentioned the Snowy one in my report? 😆
I was instructed quite well in what to say and how to describe, think I over did it with the ‘Top Man’ haha, I get to enter the inside joke, and its on the ropes within a few days, typical *shakes head* 😛
@ 85 Latter one’s a bigger portion? Its gonna be Pad Siyew time later!!! (^o^)
@106 Massive heh at “tortoise looking cunt”
LOL Wind.
Yeah Pad Siyew will do your tummy some good. Let me know what you think!
Afternoon All,
What a fuckin’ nest of vipers The Bus Stop is (as if we didn’t know that already! )
The Russian gangster has zero common sense, zero moral compass and zero anything that passes for reasonable human interaction and behaviour.
All he has is money, robbed, pillaged, extracted and extorted from the Russian people. Just when you thought he couldn’t do any more to surprise you, up he pops with another hysterical intervention.
I don’t however feel any sympathy for Di Matteo. He walks away with presumably a big bag of swag for less than a year’s work, and frankly, anyone willing to jump into bed with football’s answer to Al Capone is either morally bankrupt or so demonstrably ignorant that they have vetoed any right to usual human empathy.
I would say they are a joke of a Club, but it is much much worse than that. They are the rotting soul of football writ large, a bloated money-laden cesspit where any semblance of integrity has long disappeared amongst the welter of accusation and counter accusation, intimidation and racism that grips the place like an iron vice.
I don’t give a flying fuck how many titles or Champions Leagues his money continues to buy. I would rather be trotting down to The Emirates to watch Arsenal vs Scunthorpe in a mid-table championship clash than be anything like those cunts. They disgust me on every level.
Fuck off Usmanov, you’re not wanted.
Well in Steve-o.
Harsha – “tortoise-looking cunt” Haha brilliant 🙂 🙂
Heh Harsha, now that you mention it he does have a certain amphibian quality.
Now THAT is a verbal barrage of epic proportions.
Excellent stuff, tabs. Bet we won’t be complacent against Scunthorpe.
hahahahahahaahah *deep breath* hahahhahahahaah (thats all I have to say about Chelski sacking RdM)
Harsha @ 106, Tortoise indeed 😆
Good goal, STeve-o.
And great assist, Brendan, if one reads the drinks backwards 🙂
Ah come on the tortoise thing isn’t new. I used it on twitter this morning, and it’s also been used by blogs for ages 😉
Good rant at 111, tabs.
Way to spoil it for Harsha, Ollie. Sheesh.
You said you don’t use Twitter anymore!
Yeah, I don’t claim any credit! Blogs is the one who usually comes up with these 🙂
Hi all, just a quick visit to say hello – currently at the York on Upper Street for a pint and some lunch. When leaving the hotel this morning I saw a familiar face and all of a sudden realised it was Colin Lewin. Two seconds later I meet Gibbs, Ramsey, Corporal Jenkinson and Steve Bould! I was so star-struck that all I could manage to say was “good luck tonight, chaps!” 🙂
Right, back to drinking – see you later!
Nah, Steve-o, I was on a break for a while 😉
No worries, Harsha, it always bring a smile to read it. 🙂
And a drink for you! We shall meet in the virtual away juicer of choice!
The York? Pint of Doom please, Lars (friend of the stars)!
Amazing Lars! 😀 And that star-struck feeling, its so immense when it comes to the Arsenal & their players 😳 🙂
Heh Steve-o @114 – No doubt we would lose a couple of early goals to the Scunny (goalkeeping errors), before mounting a spirited comeback and finally forcing a draw in injury time, and off we’d all trot to the Tollie, happy as Larry 😉
Nice work Lars.
Ollie, cheers and glad to see that “away juicer of choice” is finally entering into the common vernacular! 🙂
From Twitter:
Chelsea have spent £69m on dismissing managers since 2004.
I’ll piss my pants if they end up bringing Rafa in.
Then again, he may be the only manager in the world who can get Torres to play.
Tabs on fire, great post.
Are you there tonight ?
Harsha,
“tortoise looking c*nt” – very funny. 🙂
Does that constitute abuse though ? Think I’ll go and read it again, just in case the Guvnor deletes it. 😉
Hi Trev, sadly I’m not. Give ’em a cheer for me mate!
Well, still just as funny. 🙂
So, including the tortoise, how many managers has Abramovich sacked in turtle. ?
Charlie I read over £80m on twitter. Which twitter can we trust? :O
I don’t care Trev, it’s all a Croc of shit 🙂
Trev coming out of his shell for a punfest, hooray!
Whichever one Andy Goram uses. 😉
And tabs scaling it up.
Harsha siunds pretty upset. Another crushed Asian ? 😉
= sounds
Tabs @111 – a fine piece of prose, sir.
Accurately pitched with appropriate observations and venom.
Let those reptiles drown in their cesspit of corruption and amorality.
I’m not sure how I we crawled into this.
Dr Jones is used to facing snakes in a pit 😉
Heh, Ollie.
You over your infection?
and
You over tonight?
Cheers Bath.
The whole carry-on is appalling on an epic scale, a veritable swamp where silence is bought as a matter of routine, authority is undermined, threatened or libelled, and racism is ignored for expedience.
We all laugh and spout venom at the Neighbours (and long may that continue!), but there is little doubt that in the wider footballing context, Chelsea (or more particularly Abramovich) are the true enemies of the Game.
@141 – That sounds like a chat up routine.
baff
1) yes, mostly though I’m still coughing a fair bit
2) nope, not much of a midweek home game attender, me 😉
tabs@111 Speaking as an economic, Monday to Friday, migrant to North Lincolnshire may I assure you that a mid-table championship match anywhere would more than suit most of the Scunthorpe Town supporters too.
Put me down as a +1 for the Usmanov sentiments
COYG
An owner out of control and a club, consequently, just as out of control.
Executives, players and stupid, arrogant fans wirh very short memories.
Anyone ever see an old replica Chelsea shirt. Thought not.
tabs@111 – I’ll drink to that.
The money stinks so everything it touches stinks too.
As for their managers, Avram Grant also lasted only 200 and odd days in between Scolari and AVB.
Who’s going to want a temporary contract until Guardiola decides he’s ready to start work again? Or are the press mistaken? Maybe he’s already agreed. 5 year contract @ ? million a year, f*ck up and get paid off – who wouldn’t say yes please?
Love that Frank Sinclair thinks ‘arry might be in the running :D.
AVB at Spuds and ‘arry the wheeler-dealer at SB – just love it.
But I’d be amazed if FS was right. Can’t see it.
And they have Man C at the weekend – how about that for timing?
Sorry – a bit out with my calendar re. Grant.
Full list here: http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2012/nov/21/sacked-chelsea-managers-abramovich-matteo
Actually – if you must know, I quite fancy a pop at the next Chelski job.
It would be an opportunity to pick up a few million irrespective of how well you did, or didn’t do.
And in the process you could increase your profile – so that you could be considered for other jobs going forward.
Take Roberto Di Matteo for example:
Fired at West Brom
Appointed Assistant Manager at Chelski and then caretaker mgr
Wins European Cup and FA Cup -(thanks largely to Drogba and alot of luck)
Fired at Chelski
Now he will probably bring his extensive management experience and “winning ways” into another club to pull a few million more over the next 3-4 years.
Or take Mark Hughes:
Welsh Manager
Blackburn Rovers Mgr
Man City Mgr, (unlimited resources – fired)
Fulham Mgr (fired)
QPR Mgr (about to be fired)
Won fuck all, multi multi-millionaire !
Arry Yapp Yapp:
Seattle Sounders
Bournemouth (relegated)
West Ham (fired)
Southampton (relegated)
Portsmouth (administration)
Spurs (fired)
Multimillionaire and senior advertising pawn for the Nintendo “Wii”…!
Not bad for a chap who knows nothing about tax evasion or football for that matter..!
Yeah – you have to be a remarkably talented individual to make it in football these days…!
It doesn’t matter who becomes the new puppet on a string at the bus stop, there’s just no pleasing the tyrant in charge, so whoever comes in is on a hiding to nothing, but ofcourse, money talks loudest and RA literaly shouts when it comes to his managers paychecks. I understand his want and pursuit of Guadiola but it all reeks of the Emperors New clothes.
There is no denying that Pep did very well at Barca, but with the players at his disposal it would be hard not to. Let’s not forget he lost the La Liga and CL crown’s in his last season. He had been at Barca for donkeys’ and knew the club and all the players inside out, his success had been built on a formula that the club had adopted years before his appointment as head coach and is still being implementing today. I believe their new manager isn’t doing too badly, is he?
As for Chelsea, RA’s previous appointment was also a manager that had done remarkably well, a young man that had taken his team unbeaten to a title and picked up an European and domestic cup in the same season. That didn’t stop him getting the boot at Stamford Bridge less then a year later though did it?
But when all’s said and done the simple fact remains that RA is the boss, lord of the manor, head Sith of the Empire and he calls the shots. He’s made it abundantly clear now that his decisions are not for the good of football or CFC, which is obviously to him simply a plaything. No, no, no, little chavovites, don’t get suckered in to thinking he gives a prolaterians arse about you, it’s all about feeding his overinflated ego, nothing more nothing less. I’m surprised he hasn’t tried to change the name to RomanAbramovichFC, maybe it’s because everyone would presume that the FC didn’t stand for Football Club anymore, rather F**king C**t.
In the meantime we can all point and laugh at them, but deep down inside we must surely realise that with every sacking and debacle that happens there, a peace of football dies too.
“Abramovich has now had as many managers in his nine-year reign as Man United have had since 1937”
lolling
So Tabs. You are prepared to head the the Grove for a game against Scunthorpe but refuse to attend for a vital Champions League tie against the French title holders? Priorities my old son.
Checking it down here. Don’t forget your brolly.
I don’t know why we are bothered with Chelski. The whole place is a corrupt shambles. They sold their soul and took up dancing with the devil years ago. They are not a club any more. They are a rich man’s toy. They have become a franchise. They are now nothing more than a posh KFC.
Point taken re tonight Steve 🙂
But as regards Chelsea, they cannot be ignored. They are either brought low or the whole Sport risks following them into their swamp of corruption and iniquity.
Nonny@143 🙂
Oxon Ah yes, apologies, I see I’m a couple of seasons too late with that one! I must do my research before embarking on a rant 🙂
dkgooner – Cheers. The football merry-go round continues to amaze!
Joe – Can I be your No.2? This time next year we’ll be millionaires!
H2H – Can’t disagree with anything there. I really really hope that Pep has enough intelligence and self-awareness not to go anywhere near Chelsea. He is in the enviable and wholly unusual position of being pretty much liked by nearly everyone. He risks all that if he goes to Chelsea. He would go in one foul swoop from respected and intelligent visionary to uber-cunt, certainly in my eyes.
I agree Tabs. But they piss me off so much that I just ignore them. A breaded drumstick. That’s all they are.
Heh, 🙂
The Chavs are finger lickin’good?
Thanks for ruining KFC for me Steve. 😉
While I don’t care about the Bus Stop, I find this sort of things amusing:
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/20424576
I’d put as much stock in that as I would in AST’s opinion (or its ‘spokesperson’) 😉
heh at tabs letting rip about Rafacts on twitter.
It is understood he will then hold further talks with Chelsea about taking over as manager, in the first instance, as a “stop gap” appointment.
Is a manager at the Bus Stop ever not a ‘stop gap’ ?
Trev @ 136. No, I am not upset. Just going through the drinks slow and steady 😉
Why be No 2 at all Tabs – that might actually involve doing some work..!
Instead I would propose to find you a nice slot as, ahem, a “Football Development Executive” ala Paddy Vieira at Man City.
That way you would have absolutely no responsibility whatsoever and just concentrate on looking important while attending games and giving the occasional meaningless interview. Which when you think about it – would be just like any Chelski Manager without having to put with the racial abusers and Oligarchs.
All for a few millions per annum!
Can Chelsea sign Avram? I’ll laugh so hard lol
Heh Ollie.
Chavs + Sp*ds = The bus mind the gap stop.
Bibi you fucking idiot.
Cease fire without putting our foot down and dismantling that TERROR ORGANIZATION called Hamas.
I give it a week tops before they fire another missile at the south of Israel.
You lost my vote. Not that I was going to vote for you but now there’s absolutely 0 chance.
As for football, Gibbs to start? Wouldn’t be surprised.
Ox for Theo and we’re good.
Joe.
At the Chavs they treat thier number one’s like a number two. 😉
Standing outside the Tollie. Waiting for a wind to blow by.
Joe , what an excellent plan. I am at my best when given “absolutely no responsibility whatsoever”, thrive when I have nothing to do, enjoy immensely the “meaningless interview” and as long as you give me a monocle and a bow-tie, sparkle when it comes to looking self-important.
When can I start? 😉
Someone on F365 today described Chavski as a circus freak, haha. Couldn’t have put it better. Let’s hope this destabilises them and their form goes down the toilet over the next 10 games.
Seriously, what on earth is up with the Thief of St Petersburg? To survive under him you basically have to be near perfect all the time. Joke club, I think when they fall, they’ll fall HARD.
Meanwhile I just kick back with a cuppa and enjoy the unfolding madness. Tabs hit the nail on the head, Jabba the corrupt flabby-arse can jog on and eat his pies elsewhere.
NorCal and kids – Check!
Lars 😀 – Check!
Holics, make yourself known!
@168 You are now literaly standing across the road from where I grew up.
Have a great time NorCal.
*and ofcourse Lars, Wind and all holics and gooners lucky enough to be there.
Hooray, I have interweb and TV back at home!
How did you do without having a twitter picture to compare, Wind? 😀
Enjoy the evening, tolliegoers!
Cheers Ollie, just in time. Wind, you cannot imagine how jealous I am of you and other holics right now. As my trip to Chelski home earlier this season didnt go through due to unforseen consequences, I really hope that I will finally be able to visit HoF this season 🙂
Arsenal: Szczęsny, Sagna, Mertesacker, Vermaelen, Koscielny, Arteta, Podolski, Wilshere,Cazorla, Giroud, Ox-Chamberlain
Arsenal subs: Mannone, Ramsey, Coquelin, Arshavin, Jenkinson, Gervinho, Gibbs.
Care of Arseblog on Twitter,
Ox in for Theo only change.
Have a great evening Norcal along with the old timers Lars, Wind, SteveT and all the other ‘holics you meet. 3-1 to the gooners.
#171 Wind

THE REFEREES A STICKLER !
Good stuff, Ollie 😀
i’m off out the bar
lazy officials
Im surprised that Gibbs isn’t making a start!
Thankfully gervinho isn’t starting. Hopefully he doesn’t come on at all
@ 169
A role profile to die for and tailor made for you! 8)
i think a swift arthur and a small john j could be managed in the time
easy wolfballsmallgangs !
ADU.
Let´s not be too hard on ol´ flipper, he´s not exactly my all time favourite gunner, but if he makes an appearance then let´s get behind him.
COYRRR´s
Do we get Santi to drive this team forward tonight or another shy performance?
I agree with ADU.
Joe@149
Great stuff there fella! I am pretty sure there is a bunch more dirt to be found with very little digging on other, even more famous EPL managers and ex-managers…
Keegan?
Dalglish?
Heh!
Fuck it…I think that Roman should give ME the job at Chelski Rovers…I reckon I would be perfect…
I know fuck all about football management too!!! HAHAHA!
‘holic, and I’ve got Pires in the studio as a bonus 🙂
good news Ollie ,in the nick of time.
And what H2H said at 188
No surprise with Nonny at 190 though…. *sighs*
A thing of beauty, the Emirates :’) NorCal and his kids are just taking it all in 😀
Thanks Nonny
H2H, make no mistake, if flipper is given a run, I’ll be supporting his every effort. I’d just rather not see him play. I think we’ve got far more hope with the Ox down the wing.
Ritesh, I think Corzola will be a driving force for us tonight! I’m thinking one of his long range efforts may even find the net!!
UP THE GUNNERS
Excellent, Wind. Now you’re the one doing the tours 😉
Good man ADU, can’t say I disagree, I’d rather have the Ox in too and luckily tonight, so does Arsene.
Hey Wind, Enjoy and tell NorCal I said Hi 🙂 Ollie, relieved you’re all ‘connected’ again. Evening holics 🙂
Assist two….
😳
damn ..wiziwig lets me down on quality streams for first time …600 kbps best sopcast one …torrentstream offers one with 1200 kbps but I have yet to make that one work so far …buggers ..all quality streams focused on Real Cuntdrit and Citeh bleh …yeah I am bit drunk 😛
Hi abb! Well done for the assist.
I’ll call that goal lucky, H2H 😉
Sorry, Ollie, but seeing Gervinho in our team is like waking up on Christmas morning and finding all your presents under the tree are socks.
With holes in.
When you’re seven and wanted a bike.
But it could be worse, we could have had a Champions League winning manager on the Tuesday and Rafa fucking Benitez on the Wednesday 🙂
Rafa Benitez? Are you having a laugh?
Lol.
Rafa Benitez is a Champions League winning manager.
Yeah I can hardly Adam n Eve it either
Chelsea have appointed him tonight until the end of the season. Just when you think football can’t get any funnier.
Bloody hell, H2H, I had completely forgotten that. :-s
He’s been out of work longer than Yosser Hughes, in my defence.
Hi Ollie 🙂
sweet mother of all that’s good and holy in the world
can’t get a stream at all
any ideas ?
please
Here we go boys!!!
Let’s have a nice big fat old win!!!
See you all after the game
ooops sorry forgot
‘holic
just found it on setanta ireland
cba – http://www.hahasport.com/v-4/8/30/v-483184.html
lot of misplaced passes so far:(
What a cracking goal from a free kick..
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2vFNc3ZzEZQ&feature=player_embedded
Great effort Kos!
Way to do it WOJ!
The Sack in the box!
Luvvin ljw’s new trademark turn
Oh Poldi…he’s certainly trying!
Don’t tell ADU and Nonny, but I think Gervinho will make things happen.
Pretty tame that, but at least we’re not giving much away.
Keep at it and we’ll be ok.
COYG’s.
Wouldn’t mind that at all Ollie 🙂
Hmm..not the first half I was hoping for ..shame that that Kos’ effort didnt go in..would change the game dramatically, we are bit nervous it seems ..and Ox is giving away too many passes..needless losses of possesion, still up for grabs though.
Decent half. No need to panic. They look very good on the break though
Eandy, Poldi had 2 fine attempts as well 🙂 And Woj, quick thinking on his part, early in the game 🙂
Haha, you could be right Ollie.
He may blunder one into the back of the net. If he does I won’t complain though.
I’d like to see little arshavin come on though, I reckon he’ll make some serious chances!
I don’t know if this has been mentioned, but Chelsea’s and Man City’s struggles (as enjoyable as they are) may came back to haunt us, as the English league’s Champions League allowance will likely be cut from 4 to 3…
Okay first half but we need to find the next gear.
Come on Arsenal
C’mon Arsenal!
COME ON YOU REDSSS
YES JACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Littl4e JaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaCK
BOOM!…Wilshere!
Goooooooaaaaaaalllllllaaaaazzzziiiiooooooooo
WAKE UP HOLICS< JACK"S FIRST GOAL SINCE COMING BACK!!!
uh what? ..my stream is seriously delayed! XD but JAAAAAAAAAACK! XD
Get in!! Huge goal.
Lovely assist from OG too.
Need to make more use of the wide areas.
Put more crosses in for OG12 to get on.
Giroud slapped the guy from CHiPs
That’s more like it 🙂 Shake your pom poms for our lads!
Good hustle by Kos!
Well I nailed the right goal scorer @83 go u gunners.
How many decisions is the twat with the flag going to get wrong?
Damm He deserved it, way to go POLDI!!!!!!!!
What a goal that was!!!
OOOOOOHHH POOOOLLLDIII>
TOPPER

OMG!!!…:-O….Prince Poldi!!!…
OMG!!!…:-O….Prince Poldi!!!…
Great assist by OG12.
Eandy, try this
http://atdhenet.tv/
Has worked like a charm so far
COME ON YOU REDS
Schalke 1 up,
Flipper and the Coq in.
That’s the way to claim your turf, Woj 🙂
OUCH
THat’ll do nicely thank you very much.
Schalke win 1-0
Next round here we come.
well played indeed. .now to watch replays at least at web of local tv which cuntishly ran madrid-city game ..
Yeeehaaaaaa! Reeeesult! Great goal the ski-pole, plus he did the full ninety.
UREDSSSS!!!!!
Lively 2nd half. Some lovely footwork by our lads. Our midfield one of the best in Europe 🙂 And oh yeah, we can put it in the back of the net, no prob mates 🙂
Great goal Poldi. Professional from Arsenal
Question – Would you prefer to get Real or Dortmund next round?
From the way it looks, Dortmund would be harder!
And the commentator Bill Leslie said something interesting.
Giroud and Podolski have the same amount of goals together as the Dutchman had this time last season.
Good stuff from Jack in the post match interview, he really comes accross as a humble and intellegent young man.
Two excellent goals, a clean sheet, routine but professional, nice!
Dortmund a better trip, Snir. As for the football…tough one.
Interesting stat, Snir. We are certainly sharing the goals this season.
5 different scorers on Saturday told its own story. And they all assist each other.
Yeah indeed I heard that too Snir, one of the few things I got out from my superdodgy stream -_-, I think thats actually better that we share goals in this way, and how tasty would be Poldi and Giroud scoring 40+ together this year? Since I think that thats very much possible.
Btw any info what happened to Bloodzeed?
Citeh out too,
Will Kenny Dalgleish be replacing Mancini tomorrow?
Eandy – He stopped streaming. Said he’s tired of it.
Yep Ollie – They both have 7.
Both have 4 in the league.
Giroud has 1 in the CL and 2 in the COC.
Podolski has 3 in the CL.
Giroud also has 4 assists in the CL, 1 in the league and 1 in the COC.
I’ll settle for second in the group. Would like to avoid Barca but we can match any of the group winners.
Will wait with any other comments. Just want to savour getting through once more. Nice night out for the reserves again in Athens?
Uncle Charlie’s point @229 is a bit worrying – guess we’ll just have to get in the first 3 if that’s true.
No way will England go down to three CL places, not at the moment anyway. Can’t see Serie A vaulting the Bundesliga, La Liga and the Premier League any time soon. The coefficients for next season’s CL are here, and the gap is still very big between Serie A and the PL:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2013-14_UEFA_Champions_League#Association_ranking
dk, it will become true if the trend continues with 2 clubs out in the first round each year, but I’d say it’s not for this year or next yet.
Hmm..Snir..shame..might be suspicious nature of me but looks like he got enough of money on donations and quit before he would get too much in to attention of authorities:P Real shame indeed though, his streams were flawless.
Or what Charlie said, with numbers!
Pleased with the clean sheet.Glad to have Szczesny back.
BFG & Kos definitely our best CB pairing.
Would be very disappointed if Kos is dropped just because TV5 wears the armband.
TV5 played ok tonight, great cross for our first goal, but I think he should take a cue from Kos or Merte’s composure, I feel he’s too rash in the tackle & tends to just dive into challenges.
Decent game, lovely goals, clean sheet, job done. Going to bed! See you lot around.
Kos is back.
Had a stormer.
So good.
Watching highlights from Ajax – Dortmund game and just got me thinking ..if Arsene was (god fordbid!) about to quit one day..Jurgen Klopp would be coach of my choice to replace him. He did an outstanding job in Borrusia so far and seems to be able to find and employ young talent in great way.
Yep, Kos is back in the groove. Great player.
Goodnight folks, sweet dreams!
Charlie@275 Thanks for that link mate – very reassuring – maybe you could get your Uncle to put a sock in it 😀
Very Goodnite to you Ollie!
Eandy @282.Yeah…He’d definitely be seriously worth considering. He’s achieved in the Bundesliga with Dortmund everything (lovely football, great squad full of talented young players etc) Wenger hoped to in the EPL but couldn’t.
I rate Dortmund biggest dark horses for the CL this season.
@284 – thanks. And of course if all else fails there’s one way to definitely keep up the Premier League’s coefficient. All we have to do is go all the way and win it 😉
Very much agree about Kos, strong showing. Bac was terrific also. Struggled choosing my MOTM, but ended going with OG (Jack was my 2nd choice). Would love to see us take on RM and Maureen. Icker would be out biggest obstacle. Ronaldo is lazy off the ball, all we’d have to do is shut him down 🙂
Imperitive for me to add that Poldi was awesome 🙂
abb@288…I admire your courage. Personally, would rather we avoid Reál for now though.
Second your MOTM choice…with Kos next for me.
On the train home. I guess my 6-1 may have been a tad optimistic but I will settle for just the 2. Fantastic strike from Poldi. Worth the entrance money alone.
Nice to be through with a game to go.
Keep the faith.
Sooooo…
Here are the choices of second round opponents as things stand…
Porto or PSG – Either can finish first
Malaga or AC Milan – Milan need a miracle to overcome the goal difference even IF Malaga lose their final game
Borussia Dortmund or Real Madrid – Dortmund are, I think, untouchable due to results against Madrid
Shakhtar or Juventus or Chelski Rovers – Chelsea need Shakthar to beat Juventus to even have a chance and, with Juventus only needing a point to guarantee winning the group, well, you know what the Italians are like!
Bayern Munich or Valencia – Top place very much up for grabs although Bayern look to have the edge in this one
Arseholelona or Benfica or Celtic – Arseholelona have top spot nailed and Celtic need a better result than Benfica to be in with a chance of qualifying. Spiteful Catalan Cunts will surely mke sure that doesn’t happen after they lost to them Chelski-style!
ManUre or Galatasaray or CFR 1907 Cluj – ManUre assured of top spot in the easiest group ever created for them! Who really gives a flying fuck which of the other two come second?!!
It appears that, if all goes to form, second place in our group would not be such a bad place to be. Maybe Schalke may even “throw” their last game as the teams qualifying in second place appear, on balance, teams that will be MUCH harder to beat come the knockout rounds. I doubt it though and so we could well be up against some reasonably beatable opposition in the last 16. Avoiding Dortmund and Bayern appears to be the trick here.
So, fingers crossed Schalke get their win and we get a favourable draw and find ourselves in the quarter finals. After that, well, anything can happen…
ASK RAFA!!!! HAHAAHA! USELESS FAT WANKER!
Bah, czech commentator of highlights from our match is so terribad its beyond belief ..just few examples “and first chance for Gunners came from Artetas header to crossbar (first wtf moment)”
Montpellier break when Woj went out of goal to snatch it “and great save by Koscielny to prevent Montpellier chance” and afters Poldi goal he went “and Podolski added third in emphatic way after great combination with Giroud” so appalingly bad I am going to write angry e-mail to czech tv ..and this one is pretty much czech equivalent of BBC ..paid from my money for this astonishingly bad research..just unbelievable.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Hey there DreamWright! Didn’t Dortmund just beat RM ? 🙂 Besides, the chance to wipe that smirk off Maureen’s face is appetizing 🙂
Come on you Lovely Gunners!
Sweet, sweet, sweet. 🙂
Dr Z @186 Bang on!
cba @187 and basically anything you write 🙂 🙂
Right let’s have a lovely back-drink 😎
TW@292…Nice analysis. But I’d just borrow some courage from abb & say bring on the best teams. We are the Arsenal!.
Just in from the cold. Brrrrrrrr
All over the place in the first half but some lovely moves in the second and a deserved win.
As Jackster said, just as well we were playing a pretty poor team.
Jack gets better and better. Kos has to stay in the back four and Poldi needs to be in the box more.
However we need to buck up if we draw someone decent in the next round.
Bound to be Farca, isn’t it?
Wenger on Poldi’s goal “It was a superb goal. He has the most powerful shot of anyone at the club. Our goalkeepers dread him!”
BOOM!!!…
abb@295…Heh…Whatever you say, ma’am.
Hope you do get your change to de-smirk José’s face.
