The First Sighting Of Summer?
Jul 2nd, 2013 by 'holic
Quite the break that was. A long weekend with the grand’holics meant I missed all of the frenzied activity surrounding Arsenal as I basked in the Black Country sunshine. Somewhat conveniently though it would appear as though Arsenal waited for me to come home before bursting into life.
My Twitter followers will know I caught my first glimpse of Yaya Sanogo in the second-half of the French win against Turkey this evening. On the basis of just over half an hour I now know as much as you do about the lad, and that is what he is just now, a lad. Let’s allow him time to develop.
On the basis of such a small and unrepresentative sample we know he is all of the following…
1. A big lad.
2. A goalscorer. He did finish smartly in a one on one situation with the ‘keeper tonight.
3. There will be some debate about whether he is a bit clumsy, or is not afraid to leave the boot in.
So there is about as bare an appreciation as you could wish for. Comparisons with another who has gone before are unfair on him. He clearly has Arsenal dna given the amount of time he has spent injured in his formative years, but having seen him I am not surprised he hasn’t suffered a little more than growing pains as he has been fleshing out the tall skeleton.
Let’s just consider that for now we have, free of charge, a very unpolished gem who may just turn out to be a diamond. Give him a cheer when he appears in the Carling Cup and hope we have unearthed more of an Anelka than a Bischoff.
There is no doubt moves are afoot to bring more proven talent to the club, and like the rest of you I share degrees of nervousness, excitement, and anxiety, about who and when. Luckily so far I have avoided allowing those feelings to spoil my relationships with millions of people I don’t know from Adam, or more importantly my immediate family. That will be good news in particular for the youngest grand’holic, particularly keen for me to add an Arsenal goalkeeper shirt to his collection of everyday wear.
Don’t suppose you have an age 7/8 top to chuck at me on opening day, Wojciech?

Ah…a new blog….maybe now you have returned holic, the new important signings can proceed. Agree that Yaya cold be another gem, lets give the boy some time and see what develops.
I’ll admit that “He clearly has Arsenal dna given the amount of time he has spent injured in his formative years” made me chuckle. I’m not sure I understand why some “fans” are so upset over his announcement yesterday. A) We’ve known it was coming for weeks and B) he was free. It’s not like his signing is going to prevent bigger name players from coming. Sanogo seems like he has potential and that’s good enough for now.
Probably a another free flop but if he turns out a great player we will sell him to man unt in two years time!!!!!!
Eight years of “gems”
How surprising that all the talk of big money deals has disappeaed quicker than it started.
Silly season entering full swing? Can Wolfie be far behind? Near behind?
Our recent signings from Auxerre- Diaby and Sagna have both proved to be excellent players and blighted by injury so the omens for Yaya are mixed. I share the sense of disbelief that the Gooner nation has generally shown towards poor old Yaya. Your summing up is spot on Holic. We will hopefully soon have traded Giroud ,Bendtner, Park ,Afobe,Watt and Chamakh ( not a whole lot of gems there!) for Higuain, Giroud, Sanogo and Campbell who I believe is going to tour with the lads in Asia and will be retained if he does well or go on loan if he needs more experience. Some Gooners still believe we will sign Rooney but this ain’t going to happen. But Gonzalo we are ready when you are!
Seems fair enough to me. I’m certainly not aware of any particularly hot striking prospects in our U21 side so he should get some good development time, fitness permitting. Gnabry does look a prospect but is currently used more in wide positions.
Good luck to the lad – a bit of power and physique won’t do us any harm in the Premier League if he develops well.
Is that both grandholics converted now, ‘H ?
Sanogo? Campbell? We are going to need Higuain (who despite his scoring record has always looked very lightweight, wih an Adebayoresque ability to miss chances) and two more strikers of proper ability, not wannabes, if we are going to compete.
The big signing of the summer will probably be Wenger getting a new contract. What joy in the streets…
Neither Diaby nor Sagna’s injuries had anything to do with them or an inherent fragility. Both were broken by overzealous defenders. That can happen to any player so it isn’t relevant to an assessment of Sanogo.
The Sanogo signing is a no brainier. He is a kid who has a good pedigree and a decent reputation. He is on a free and will be given time to prove himself. Hopefully he becomes something special. If he doesn’t well then it is hardly a loss is it? Good luck son, I hope you become an arsenal legend……
For the right reasons that is!!!!!
Is Sanogo quick, does anyone know? And am I right in thinking that, though tall, he has never scored with his head?
On the positive side, I guess you can say his willingness to leave the boot in shows that his past injury problems are not playing on his mind.
Two headers, apparently.
Please since when did Sagna become injury prone? Sagna has been one of our most consistent players since he signed for us, before his double leg break last year, when was the last time he had a long term injury or any injury at all?
Ned, from what I’ve seen/heard/read he is quite pacey, not Walcott-pacey but definitely faster than Giroud and maybe Poldi.
Holic, if we sign Cesar then Shezza might have a few spare Keeper’s tops.
This lad is a typical Wenger punt. Looks promising. Hope it’s a good punt I.e. better than the usual Holic quid. π
Oh and Steve T, nice appraisal of the Sanogo signing @11.
Nothing wrong with signing potential on a free. Better business, imo, than forking over Β£17m (including add-ons) for similar, as Chelski did for Lukaku. Even if Sanatogen (with added iron)* does get sold on, as some cynics suggest, it would still be excellent business – of the kind essential to a club without olig/arab money to fund its excesses.
Meanwhile … Gunnazalo, where are you?
Oskar
*You’d have to be 50+ to get that one… π
Oskar – I am considerably fortified.
Oskar, I am 60+ and don’t get that reference. π
Heh @18.
Sanatogen, nostalgia city. Used to great with alcohol!
Glad we’re off the mark with Sanogo. The youngsters always get signed first so don’t know why people are complaining. Didn’t the Corporal and the Ox come in first in respective transfer windows before seeing more experienced players follow?
Anyway, to me he looks like a cross between JET and Adepaymore. Hope he does well, let’s support him when he plays!
Possibly because you’re in Malaga, iBath. Sanatogen was a so-called ‘tonic’ wine claimed to ‘fortify the over 40s’ when introduced in Britain in the ’60s. It had a fairly hefty (for a wine) 15% alcohol content with all the tannins smoothed out chemically so you could knock it back in volume.
Not that any self-respecting person under 50 (except you CoR?) would be seen dead with a product marketed so emphatically to senior citizens!
Oskar
I thought Cesar looked really sharp in the Confed Cup, and would be an ideal signing for us.
Oskar
Cent, that figures. Wenger likes quick forwards. From his YouTube highlights he seems to have that burst over the first few metres that all central strikers need even if he isn’t going to outsprint Theo over 50 metres.
Sanatogen? Utter phish. Buckie was the stuff for tonic wine aficionados. Accept no substitute.
@Billy bee
Not sure how your negative cynicism makes you Arsenal support more enjoyable but to each his own.
Pardon me while I sit in pedant’s corner…
http://www.gracesguide.co.uk/Phyllosan
Thought there was not going to be a new blog for a while! :p
Heh @ 30
‘Holic@30 Thank you for the clarification. I withdraw my remark @21 above and return, red-faced to my corner.
Tuesday AND Thursday the Guvnor said, Ollie.
I’m keeping well out of the way ’til then. π
Aha, Oxon rues his remark.
Reminds me of my favourite Parisian street –
The Rue de Remarques. π
Have we bought anyone yet??? Gareth Barry according to today’s papers????? Sweet Mary Jones. Give me strength.
Actually, having just double-checked I think I confused Sanatogen with Supligen! My Dad used to make us take Sanatogen when I was young but can’t remember the taste very well…
Is it like the taste of victory???
Heh ..trailer for away kit but it really looks like its going to be yellow with blue collar, finally π http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3mN837tQrYA
and this looks kinda genuine to me and rather tasty π http://sphotos-h.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-ash3/67960_10151574907027089_2120015854_n.png looks like I am going to have yet another away kit π
Reported quote from Van Persie to something called “Utd Review”:
βI cheered for Spurs against City. Can you believe it? An ex-Arsenal player wanted Spurs to win! We knew the title was one game away.β
WHAT a bell-end.
Gareth Barry on the menu and RvP cheering for Spurs, what a way to start the day.
Cheers for the piece ‘H.
Haven’t seen the kid play at all, so have no kind of view on him, but clearly a prospect, so let’s hope it comes off.
People moaning about this kind of signing really do need to wind their necks in. Laughable.
Agreed TaBS.
…and as for that wankhammer Custis, he has hit the bullseye with this morning’s pratcatcher π
Haha indeed ‘H. π
The importance that some attach to the witterings in The Currant Bun is extraordinary.
Don’t think Custis has been right on anything for over a decade.
Proof, if needed, that `tis indeed the silly season. This morning I awoke to a discussion as to whether our supposed Β£3m bid for Gareth Barry was a good thing! A real piece of lazy made-up journalism if ever there was one. As for Sanogo, it`s a good bit of business, as he comes for nothing, has a good goals to games ratio, and if he turns out to be another dud, we can always loan his out to Fat Sam.
Heh.

Some great old pics of Highbury …

Oh well, I suppose the fact that Bloggs feels just like I do about the speed of our transfer business – our much hoped for, desperately longed for transfer business – makes me feel a bit better. Less unreasonable, and greedy, and childlike foot stompy, and stuff.
He does allude to the complicated nature – like we didn’t all know ! – of these big deals (hopes desperately again), and how long it might all take to sort out.
So, bearing all that in mind, would those doing our business please –
GET A MOTHERLOVIN’ MOVE ON BEFORE I LOSE MY FRIGGIN’ MIND !!!!!
Thank you.
Did he say that? Even though they were so many points ahead?
Is he an idiot or what?
Ollie – apparently so. Clearly wrestling with the fact that he may be utterly minted but he’ll never truly be one of them, and he absolutely 100% is not one of us.
Trev – I feel the same way. I keep telling myself that so long as the right players are in by the end of the window then it will all be worth it. Although it would be nice for them to meet their team mates before the season kicks off!
If, on the other hand, this window closes without some evidence of the much heralded new cash being flashed I will be fcuking furious and extremely concerned about our future.
I’m fine if we don’t win anything next season. I’m a patient man. But I’ve waited 8 years now without complaint on the promise of better days, and it’s time to start seeing some evidence that the wait hasn’t been in vain. Particularly after Ivan’s comments a few weeks back.
Still… thinking positive thoughts, thinking positive thoughts, thinking positive thoughts…. only a few more hours until we unveil Higuain/Cesar/Cesc/Fellaini and Rooney ; )
I don’t have grand’holics, or even kids, yet, but I have twin nieces who turned 6 yesterday, and one of them already passes better than Denilson. Unfortunately, she also whines more than Bendtner.
The .com just announced that Don Vito is off to Sunderland. People still think we’re not working on transfers?
Mannone has joined Sunderland.
For a reported transfer fee of Β£2m.
Di Canio is an idiot.
Di Canio is clearly attempting to build a squad of pure-blooded Italian men.
Football eugenics.
Haha, spot on N7.
Now it all makes sense.
Oh, also looks like Wellington Silva and Joel Campbell both got their work permits yesterday. I expect to see Joel and Sanogo starting in our Capital One cup games, or Joel going out on loan to a premiership team.
Trev. According to his brother the Higuain deal is close….
Well it was close on 26/06 at least. ??????
A couple of weeks ago, watched the France β U.S. under 20 fixture earlier today, featuring Sanogo. Played entire 90 minutes of 1-1 draw.
Has some size and strength and did boss around a weak U.S. backline. Showed decent movement, and will fill out and get stronger with maturity, but didn’t show much pace (“Sanogo has no go” ???)
Did score Franceβs goal on a PK, which truthfully should have been saved (keeper got his hands on a poorly placed low kick). To the downside: seemed to flag in the second half. More importantly, fluffed his lines on two separate chances that a modestly talented striker would have professionally buried.
U.S. commentators fell all over themselves stating how he was probably heading to the Emirates on a free, with one of them actually stating that βArsenal followers can look forward to the second coming of Adebayorβ¦β Oy vay….
drunkkk,m how’s everybody doing??
http://www.francefootball.fr/news/Vers-la-fin-du-mercato-d-hiver/383279
I leave this to you babelfish fans.
It’s some proposals by the commission on FFP of the French Parliament (what? No I don’t get why the politics get involved either, maybe I didn’t understand well?) or something.
Among other things, it advocates salary caps and the abolition of the winter transfer window (not sure how this would work if you only banned that in France!).
Note also that very much unlike in England, the television rights for the next few seasons in France have decreased, significantly.
http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/three-youngsters-sign-new-contracts
New signings (of contracts).
Now that’s very exciting news Ollie. π
Btw, what is a salary cap ?
Will players have to wear hats with their wages embroidered on them – like Bendtners old “52” shirt ? π
55 & 56 N7 & Tabs. Now Di Canio has his Italian goalkeeper, he can now concentrate in filling up the rest of hs team with right wingers π
Arseblog news reporting that Frankfurt move for St Nik breaks down.
F. M. L.
Assuming that Bendtner will be out of the door soon, how many of his years as an arsenal player has he spent on loan? Madness really.
Steve, I think it’s the past two seasons and then one season at Brum in 2006/7 so that would make it three out of seven seasons. It’s a shame he has wasted his talent in such a ridiculous way, he could have been a rather good player today had it not been for his massive ego getting in the way of his progress.
heh at 64
Just as Samson derived his powers from his hair, Bendtner was half the man without Arturo Lupoli.
I think it is a big problem in football Lars. He was earning 50k a week plus for turning up to training and sitting on the bench. His incentive should have been to break into the starting 11, but it’s also very easy to just sit on your arse when you earn that sort of dosh.
As you said, what a waste.
Amazing shots @48 tabs. Even a foam bath pic for wolfie.
N7, Bendtner half the man without Arturo Lupoli? Let me see if I can calculate to get the exact answer to this mathematical conundrum. π
Tabs, Great pics. π
Best bit of business Liverpool have done in years?
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23143710
Mind you, I can’t remember how much they paid to buy him but they still got more than he’s worth in getting rid.
The Big Match Revisited on ITV4 in the mornings is worth recording. The other day they had an interview with Vladimir Petrovic after he scored against Villa in the cup, but only a photo of the goal as they didn’t have the rights to that game.
Today it was West Ham v Stoke from 1983 and 19 year old Stephen Bould (and his hair) playing at right back, in the same side as The Ox’s dad. And he scores a corking own goal. A first time looping half volley.
Bt8, I quite rated/still rate Shelvey, I think he will still have a good future in the EPL if he keeps his head in the right place.
Cent, I do rate his haircut at least. His game can spark into life but as quickly sputter out, meaning he has the immaturity of the still young man that he is.
Great old photos of Highbury, Tabs.
Managed to miss them earlier.
Reports from Spain saying we now have agreed a fee with Real and have official permission to speak with Higuain. Info comes from his father. Fingers crossed we may just be about to do some cracking business at last.
Great pics Tabs.
Bendtner was destined to fail due to his personality
Seasons on loan at Birmingham and Sunderland should have “repaired” his ego, but his detemination to succeed, if he ever had any, simply evapourated.
A car crash that could have killed him also appeared to teach him nothing, and his extra curricular activities in London and Sunderland were hardly going to impress his employers.
If he was as willing and able to learn on the pitch as he was off it, it’s no surprise that he’s now on his way – hopefully.
A total waste of good potential.
Blimey, how many fathers, brothers, agents has Higuain got ?
A song for him is fairly obvious, at any rate –
“We’ll meet Higuain,
Don’t know where
Don’t know when,
But I know we’ll meet Higuain
Some sunny day”
*coat please*. π
Trev. I certainly hope that we do not have to wait for Doomsday for the Higuiain signing to be completed. If we do, on the other hand, at least we now have appropriate music. π
Tabs- how I miss that place. Thanks for the memories
Frankly the garbage being churned up is driving me potty. Goal. Com and ‘Exclusive’ is an oxymoron. Wayne Veysey wouldn’t know a genuine story if it kicked him up the bum. The trouble is this stuff is recycled for days on a loop and we get morbidly depressed until we realise there was no truth in the story in the first place. Anyway I love Trev’s song and it may well be apt.
I also agree re Di Canio. Paying Β£2million for Don Vito is tantamount to madness. Any Polish managers we can palm Flappy off to?
This could be the funniest overturn, but I would not be surprised at all if it happens.
Luis SuΓ‘rez has moved in from 20/1 to just 7/2 to join Arsenal. (Skybet)
Bt8 @76, fair enough.
Trev, perfect summary of Bendtner @80.
Lurky
The bulk of the money has apparently been placed in the Barcelona area.
This is surreal. He’s suspended until nearly next Christmas. Some people are throwing their money away.
Holic is 3/1 on SkyBet to be the next President of Egypt apparently
Ttg,
I thought he already was. π
It doesn’t seem to have occurred to the Twitterati that the bookies might simply manipulate the odds every now and then to generate extra interest in transfer speculation. They’re the only ones who benefit from all this bollocks anyway.
If Suarez is an Arsenal player next season I’ll eat my hat. If I can get to it before the toothy bastard starts chomping on it.
Hey holics π Fair enough Holic. We welcome the newbie with open arms and minds π Been reading the drinks and I must say, you lot are quite entertaining ! π Tabs, those old pics are something else, will revisit them tomorrow when I can look at them in a leisurely fashion but thanks for sharing ! Love the old stuff π All other links will get my full attention as well. It’s like Christmas in July, here. Nite everyone π
n7, bookies can manipulate the odds?
wow, who knew?
Bit of old new away shirt stuff:
http://www.footballshirtculture.com/13/14-kits/arsenal-2013-2014-nike-away-football-shirt-leaked.html
N7, I’m hoping you don’t have a sombrero:)
TTG, Holic the Pharaoh you say?
TTG and others: Hull just paid Β£1.5m for 31-year old Alan McGregor so Β£2m for Don Vito doesn’t seem so out of line. He is a decent middle of the pack Premiership keeper. Plus Sunderland got Β£9m for Mingolet, did they not? And Fulham paid close to Β£5 million for Stekelenburg, who is not the keeper he was.
‘Holic running an Islamic nation, would be, er, interesting.
Heh NBN,
Only drink allowed would be a 12yo McAllah. π
Ned 94… well he often gets “mullahed” after a Tollie session (allegedly) .
Trev 81 brilliant. I tip my hat to you (before N7 eats it) π
Thank you Sir, and heh! @ your 96. π
Senses Cent and Lurky on the edge of the box….. Chips one over the top. …….
Heh @ various above!
Specially for Ollie, a Wham bang in the net.
Thanks for the Cent(ury) assist.
Well in Uply – first goal since Last Christmas. π
Cheers Trev. While we are on that theme (Not so) Young Guns went for it !
You’re welcome Up and well in! Trev’s pass for the pre-assist was world class, couldn’t let him down.!
‘holic – No Wilko but might be worth picking up
http://www.superdeluxeedition.com/news/dr-feelgood-taking-no-prisoners-five-disc-gypie-era-box-set/
Doh … Phyllosan it was ‘holic. My memories of Sanatogen are no better than any other of my ’60s memories. Your fault Oxon for mentioning ‘fortified’. Grrr.
Trev … if I may be allowed to play with your composition:
We’ll meet Higuain
And Grenier?
Don’t want Wayne
But I know we’ll meet Higuain
Some Gunny day
Oskar
Trev@95::)
And what Uply said @96.
Otd: Vera Lynn must be turning in her grave.
Welcome YAYA.
I would like we add Julio Ceasar, Fellaini, Higuian.
then we will have :
Julio
Sagna, Kos, Mert, Gibbs
Santi, Jack, Fellaani
Theo, Higuian, Poldi
Sub:
Wojeh
Jenk, Vermaleam, Nacho
Arteta, Ox, Diaby(I nearly forget him)
Giroud, Gerv(will he saty?)
Then we will win 4 trophies come next May
COYR !!!
Really does look like Higuain is on his way . But he rumoured contract is only three years. Some mistake surely ? We will have to start renegotiating as soon as he arrives. Hopefully he will add more bite to the attack than Suarez.
It does appear Arsenal are trying for a real marquee signing this summer from the rumours. Perhaps the Suarez stories were to make a Rooney signing easier to digest. But there are still strong rumours about a Cesc return. I am dubious but I have several mates who are convinced he us coming back. Fellaini will do for me.
I have read a lot of the Suarez stories. They have come from nowhere. No idea if they have anything in them although something must have happened. Very good player but his character has to be suspect at best.
A very strange one if you ask me.
Suarez…why don’t we just bid for in January after he’s served his ban?
The ban goes until December right?
No eating or drinking or smoking in public, but also NO SWEARING!
How will I survive?
Holic for egyptian prΓ©sident.
Can’t say pharoah Than that.
Has Frimpong been officially released, or does he still have ime to go on his contract?
Depends what you’re going to say next, Cynic π
—-but I think he wasn’t in the list of released players.
Arsenal.com have a manga competition going on at the moment! Looks like I have something to do with my free time π
Haha, yeah CoR, I already have few sketches going on, just need to kick myself to finish it in time π
Heh washedup ! π
The Scene: The Players Restaurant, Arsenal Training Centre.
Gonzalo, finally in his first day of training with his new club, surveys the magnificent buffet laid out by Rob The Chef.
Gonzalo: “Hey, Rob The Chief ….”
Rob The Chef: “Steady son, that’s Chef, not Chief …”
Gonzalo: “Ok, Rob The Chief Chef, what eez thees Feesh a la Veera Lynn? I must know exactly what I eat. Where was it caught, and exactly how old is it ?”
Rob The Chef:
“It’s whale meat Higuain,
Don’t know where,
Don’t know when …… “
Suarez is suspended for four or five games, can’t remember exactly. And the ban will apply even if he goes to another leage, as I understand it.
And the way Sky Sports is using odds from Sky Bet to drive news and affect the odds is at best unethical in my mind. It becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy, SS reporting of lowered odds for a transfer leads to increased betting (hey, the lower odds must be an indication, right?) which then leads to further lowering of odds which can then be made into a headline which in turn generates more turnover which can then… Well, you get the picture. They are basically putting false information out there knowingly to make people place bets on outcomes that Sky know will never come true.
*Applauds 119!*
See arseblog today, Lars π
Heh Ollie, I think the tired old cliche “great minds think alike” would be apt here π
Lars – nail on head @ 120.
Heh Trev @119
Lurv da song.
I’m very happy π
Finally got my Tax Code sorted so I’m gonna get a FAT tax rebate for Last Year soon enough, + I’m getting my tax back for this Financial Year π
+ I called up Arsenal to see why I got Direct Debited for Next Year’s Membership so early (was expecting to get Direct Debited in August, not June, turns out June was standard for me) and I got to the bottom of the 2 Membership Cards mystery – Always use the Card with the latest issue number “Jessica” said. Funnily enough, my 1st Membership Card was Issue No. 2 and the 2nd one I got was Issue No. 1 π
Work is a complete organisational mess.
Marvellous old pics. I remember being in the queue by about 12.30 for one of the big games, then the mad rush to the turnstiles to get in and bag your favourite spot.
Higuan #20
Trev@119: aaaaaarrrrrgggghhhh!
bt8b: Liverpool paid Charlton Β£1.7 million for Shelvey ahead of the 2010-11 season.
Welcome to Arsenal, YaYa.
After self-imposed exile from the land of transfer stories, took a peek at the speculations…Higuain a medical away, Djorou has left (on loan?), Coq is leaving (on loan?), Nicky can’t find a club …
If we are letting Coq go, does that mean there is much more certainty about new defensive/holding midfield signings than what the rumor-sphere would have you believe?
Also, are we really looking for another attacking midfield player?
Reading optimistically between the lines, your diagnoses may well be accurate Dr F.
Does that mean you know someone who knows someone close to Wojciech’s cleaning lady?
Are we not going to buy Cesar?
Has this been reported in the Daily Shitebox?
I’m going to self-combust in a rage of anger and disgust…
Argghhhhhhh…………….
Hey Eandy, I whipped something up real quick, made a Twitter account and threw it up! What do you think?
https://twitter.com/search?q=%23ArsenalManga&src=hash
My twitter name is Jetlifari btw π
The way the mood is on twittersphere today (it’s done, hooray, etc.) I expect the deal to ‘hit a snag’ tomorrow.
The question is which media will claim the exclusive?
Sky? Mail? Mirror? Sun? Star?
Good prediction there Ollie. Pure media manipulation I suspect.
Re: Trev @119. That is starting to stretch it a bit, I think. π
Look, I have nothing but respect for all my fellow drinkers here, but “you guys” need to get with the program – you need to stop to referring to Faustus as Dr F.
Once again, there is, and only ever will be, one Dr F.
You know and I know when the time comes, it won’t be Dr Faustus you go running to when you run out of, ahem, medicine. We have some new product coming in from California so remember, tell them which Doctor sent you the next time you get transfer window-licking fever π
Trev@119 heh!
I’ve been following the Higuain story closely today. By far the most reputable and reliable input has come from Sid Lowe who broke the Cazorla story last year. His take is that it is effectively a done deal with a medical in London tomorrow. The reassuring thing is that the better Spanish journalists like Lowe and Hunter think that Madrid are mad to sell him and that he is one of the most productive strikers in La Liga. Which given that Ronaldo and Messi are in that league is quite an accolade.
If this deal does go through and expect Arsenal.com to take their time on announcing it, it will calm down a lot of the doubters who didn’t believe Arsenal were upgrading their purchases.
I await those Giroud loyalists who feel this is unfair to him. I think every big club needs top competition in every position.
Strange that Bendtner’s permanent transfers never actually go through. Perhaps he is as big a prick as his reputation suggests and has an inflated idea of his going rate.
TTG: With deep runs in all competitions next season, Giroud and Huigan could both play 30 games. 20 goals a piece and not too knackered at the pointy end of the season wouldn’t be at all bad.
TGSTEL lived should take whatever he can get in the German league, put in a decent shift of a season, then angle for a move to a bigger club the season after once he has rehabilitated his reputation. It is the only way he is not going to piss away his career completely.
Indeed heh @ 119 Trevor…..
Dr F(eelgod),
That shipment was sent in a certain new number 20’s luggage. If my left nut is correct that luggage should be arriving at London Colney sometime tomorrow. I assume you will be there to perform the medical and acquire the goods?
Cheers all!
Giroud loyalists?arent we all,he had a hell of a season for his first year TTG.i think we will see them as a partnership next year when we come up against bus parkers, against better sides obviously it will be one up top, wont it be great to have other options!zico I just told my medicine man doctor F sent me he told to f@@k off, worth a try suppose π
Heh, those Doctors and their industrial language, Garsguns…..
NorCal, your new to this trafficking business, clearly. Best not to tell the watching world what, when and where the goods are going to be π

I wrote after another frustrating Giroud performance against a top 6 side( he only scored once against them) that he wasn’t good enough to be our sole striker and I hold to that. He is not and never will be a world- class striker but he is an extremely good man to have in reserve and as North Bank Ned said he may play a fair number of games next season with rotation and injuries.
I really do think we have to face the fact that to win things we need players of a higher class than we have been signing. Giroud was a flat- track bully last season he scored against teams like Fulham,Newcastle and Reading but for instance missed a sitter in the first minute at Chelsea when a goal then might have been extremely important.and significant in our season. I like the guy and he produced some great assists last season but he isn’t of the class we need to be winners and we can afford that class of player now. He has a big challenge coming. Lets hope he can rise to it.

Bath,
Most workers at the NSA wouldn’t understand what the hell I meant by our new number 20. It will take them weeks to figure that out. Surely he will have his medical before then, right? π
Zico,
Hidden in plain site sometimes works best. π
