A Brief Look Ahead To Norwich Away
Nov 28th, 2015 by 'holic
“Our team play was very good, we played like a team, we responded like a team and we played together. My love for football is the team play and I felt the quality of our movement, the quality of the way we combined was very, very strong and when you are responsible for a team that gives you hope for the future. The basic ingredients are there.”
The midweek demolition of Dinamo Zagreb raised the spirits around the club after we had taken just one point from six in our last two Premier League fixtures. Arsene is well aware we need to carry that improvement into Sunday’s visit to Norfolk.
The boss confirmed he expected to see Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to be added to the squad that performed so well on Tuesday, although he also suggested there may be a decision to rest Alexis if felt necessary. With four ‘rest’ days before the trip to Norwich it would be a surprise if the Chilean didn’t start. If there is a change to Tuesday’s starting eleven then that may well be Aaron Ramsey recalled in place of Joel Campbell.
Recall for Rambo?
For the visitors, skipper Russell Martin returns after missing last week’s defeat at Chelsea. That result left them on 12 pts from 13 matches, just 2 points above the relegation zone tonight. It is fair to say they have struggled thus far, although worth noting that 10 of those points have been won at home where they have won 3 and drawn 1 of 7 matches.
Arsenal have won seven of the last nine Premier League meetings between the clubs, and will be keen to extend that record and continuing the pursuit of the title.
The ‘holic pound
With apologies for the necessary brevity of the preview, I’m quickly tipping a 0-2 win for the Gunners at a market best of 17/2.
To those going have a great day out. And for the rest of you, have a good one ‘holics.

First?
To repeat from the previous drinks:
What we need tomorrow afternoon is a repeat of the result from our first visit to Carrow Road — a five-nil win in the FA Cup in January 1952. A brace for Doug Lishman, and one each for Peter Goring, Jimmy Logie and Don Roper. Lishman’s claim to fame was back to back hat-tricks at Highbury in 1951 (v Fulham and Bolton), a feat not repeated until TH14 did it in 2004.
Fentastic maestro. 😉
And you can get 70/1 on us winning 5-0 on Sunday.
I would take a victory by any margin but it would take a win by 5 goals to top the league at the weekend. This team can achieve that if they have some luck. COYG.
Cheers H.
And cheers NBN. This week I’m backing the Saintly Sovereign.
UTA
Man u are linked to Jimmy Vardy and Chelsea seems to be monitoring Harry Kane under Wenger’s watch, at the end he’ll say we didn’t see any quality to add to the squad.
I’d be delighted with a 2-0. The last time we went there Aaron and the Corporal tuned up for the Cup Final by helping us to the same score.
Interesting that the Boss highlighted Redmond as a danger. He is a very accomplished young player and their manager a good tactician. One hopes we will have too much for them .
COYG!
I’d be wary of Vardy continuing his form this season, never mind next. A striker who gets to 28 before impressing has to have question marks.
As for Norwich, it’s a game we should win, but that’s been said before … like last week. With two players back from injury and Alexis possibly resting, I think I’ll just sit back and pray. A bit of effective pre-match motivation so they start fast would be an idea AW.
Oskar
Briefer than Wolfie’s Speedos, that one, Holic. ?
Ned, 100,000 puns a week ? You must be joking !
cba,
Knee sliding on grass with my knees is just like sliding on all weather gravel anyway. Gueass your ” young’uns” comment probably wasn’t aimed at me anyway. ?
Nice preview H. It has been suggested that Alexis has a slight hamstring problem. If that is the case then I hope he is nowhere near Norwich tomorrow. He can be spared the 15 minute flight.
Like others, any win will do.
Fine preview Guvna.
I’ll have 2-0 to the Arsenal at 17/2.
COYGs
Fine preview Guvna.

COYGs
how did I do that? 😮
So good he said it twice. 🙂
In the early game tomorrow Chelsea can show they can still be good for something this season by injuring several Tottenham players and derailing their season. Come on you Chavs and do the dirty deeds so you can resume your slumber next week.
good luck to the travelling fans cheering us on to a long due win.
C’MON YOU REDS !!!
howdy ‘hol howdy all

here’s to a happy sunday
Naija – Jamie Vardy = Michu 2015
Perhaps.
Last I heard of Michu he was working in a pop-up car wash and living off tips*.
Beware the one season wonder.
*This may not be entirely true.
bottom
Cheers Guvna, I like the look of your 2-0 @ 17-2.
Anything less than a win will be a tad disappointing notwithstanding there are “no easy games” in the EPL these days – just some less hard perhaps 😉
Hopefully we can carry on with the good form shown against Dinamo Zagreb last tuesday and make the Canaries sing. I expect to see Ramsey on the right with Campbell warming the bench – the boss tends to the more trusted version when faced with a choice.
COYRRR
I’ll be brief, too.
3 points, please.
You can keep the bookmakers action though ‘H – they’ve had enough to gloat about this weekend…..
Underpants.
I’m also being briefs.
Michu back in Spain working in a flamenco bar scraping the leavings off the tables.
*This may not be entirely true. 😉
Michu is compiling the Rayo Vallecano fanzine crossword ( well filling in the black squares) and busking outside a Tapas Bar with three budgies on his Spanish Guitar. This is gospel?
Poor old Abou!
Looks like Diaby’s tale of woe continues

Cheers for the preview guv’.
Norwich City manager Alex Neil: “We will be regarded as one of the smaller teams in the league, but even when so-called bigger teams come to our place, they have been happy to sit behind the ball, soak up pressure and hit you on the counter attack – and that sort of surprised me.
“You would have thought that some of them would have come here and tried to impose themselves, go toe-to-toe, but that has not been the case.”
Is that the sound of a gauntlet being dropped to the floor?
I hope Norwich really do try to go toe to toe with us because that will play to our strengths. The only other team that has done that this season was Leicester and we gave them a kicking. So……
BRING IT ON.
I’ve heard rumours that we will be playing in that horrible kit today.
Someone at Puma needs a good sorting out.
Afternoon all. 0-2 is now 9/1 if you shop around. 🙂
Rambo for Campbell it is. Mystic ‘holic strikes again! 😉
Full line up:
Arsenal: Cech, Bellerin, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Monreal, Flamini, Cazorla, Ramsey, Ozil, Alexis, Giroud
Subs: Ospina, Debuchy, Gabriel, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Campbell, Chambers, The Jeff.
Bench improving.
We should win 5-0…to top the league!
😀
Come on you……. eeeeeer…….. blackish, bluey, bit of white and gold half stripeys!!!!
COYG grab the points and run!!
Another injury. Perfect.
Fell asleep. Woke up to see us playing in a fag packet kit again.
Got a headache.
Not sure if it’s because of the nap or the fucking awful kit.
Alexis. Wow.
Dirty bastards!
Show him the yellow you bloody ref!
Off the pitch shove into a pit? Surely worth a yellow?
Bollocks!
One attack and we concede . Pathetic defending there. We’ve dominated the first half. But the same story as last week,
We should be doing better against a team whose goalie wears pink socks!
COME ONNNNNNNNN!
That was too close terrible marking again!
It would be very helpful if Giroud could contribute at least a tiny bit. He has been the invisible man. When his game is off boy is it off
Another injury? Just as well we have loads of cover?
Nice goal to go one up.
Poor defending to concede the equaliser.
More shit defending should have seen us 2-1 down.
Like everyone in asking, why that dreadful kit? Why are we not in red?
Need to sharpen up second half. We have more than enough quality to win this.
In total control, go one up and switch off.
Lesson’s obviously not learnt from last week.
Brother H.
Lessons not learnt from last week, last month, last season, the season before that etc etc.
No matter how well we play or how good we look, you always know that we have that in us somewhere.
Steve T
And that really sums it up, hoping here we can pick this up in the second half!
COYG big second half please but tighter at the back is a must.
Come on Arsenal!
WTF is happening here Cazorla down!
We look like we may concede every time they attack us. We are playing Norwich.
Santi getting booked now ha ha
Jesus Alexis is out ffs
Alexis looks out…hamstring…. 🙁
Alexis goes down.
Shyte!
3 weeks at the least….. bad bad bad
Two significant injuries every bloody week. And Alexis was so obviously in the red zone
We are disorganised it’s an understatement!
Sanchez off with a hamstring injury.
I refer you all to my post at 11. Playing him with a hamstring problem has to be one of the most ridiculous decisions ever. Totally bizarre. If that means he is out for the obligatory 3 weeks then it is amateurish in the extreme.
All I hear is the moans about our injury problems. Then that. Just as well we don’t have a must win champions league fixture on the horizon.
Unbelievable.
What are we doing we look clueless!
We’re struggling against a rugby team ….
We need to refresh the squad!
What a save from Czech! This is rather painful to watch!
We look a shambles at the back.
Had enough of watching Giroud stroll about, and often not even put in that much effort.
New striker please.
Games like this are agony because you. An see what is going to happen. We are giving them so much space in midfield
He’ll score the winner now
No urgency to go forward we look awful!
We are chasing Norwich by the way!
Thats better come on Arsenal!!!
We have still only had two shots on target apparently.
Why do I keep on supporting this team that never learn from the past?????
Had it been it’s any serious minded team it would have been three point clear by now
Head up Naija.
Arsenal always does it the hard way.
Today was anither frustrating display. A lot of games to play yet.
In Arsene we trust. He’s an expert in ham string injuries, They’ve had so many. He knows exactly how to deal with them. Play football till it hurts. Physical Therapist, par excellence -pardon my French.
And despite an assist against Zagreb – JC isnt good enough.
Not exactly bringing much off the bench when he comes on. Other than dread that is.
We deserve nothing but fourth place out of the league at best. Wenger’s decision to play Alexis who alegedly had a tight hamstring may have doomed any league or champion’s league aspirations however minimal those were. Watching this incompetence on an annual basis is as tragic as it is predictable. This is simply not good enough for this club.
Indeed Steve, deja vu all over again.
Another two points dropped, another two players out.
Campbell, bless him is not an Arsenal standard player, way out of his depth in the PL, not his fault ofcourse, our pathetic injury list forcing his inclusion.
What the fuck was Giroud doing? It wasn’t anything constructive. Spent the whole game sulking around the box. His movement, if you can even call it that, was almost non exsistent. Bad display.
That’s two points from a possible nine, one point taken from teams (with all due respect) we should be easily beating. I don’t expect us to win all the time, but the last few weeks have been just not good enoughSo sad, because top spot was there for the taking.
To be only two points off the top after not winning a league game in November is remarkable. At the same time this is a heck of a league to win as evidenced by the fact that Norwich were well worth a point and could have won it. And they are one of the bottom sides!
I thought we really missed Coquelin today and I don’t think Kos would have been rolled as easily as Gabriel was by Grabban. And the loss of Alexis is potentially hugely damaging.
We desperately need more leaders in this team , Ozil is playing superbly but this does not feel like a title- winning team. Belle din looks raw at times and Giroud was non- existent. He should have bullied the Norwich central defenders all over the box but he didn’t raise any sort of gallop and we were grateful for the superb reflexes of Cech to save us a point.
Disappointing. The injuries were more of a blow than the result.
January can’t come quickly enough but will we do anything?
Fans were saying 4 easy games coming up. Well 2 is out of the way and we have 2 whole pts from 6. Well that’s not a sign of a team that wants to compete for a PL title. And now Alexi is injured, it’s so not easy being an Arsenal fan.. God help us
We have 1 point from 6.
Sorry 1pt
Need to be beating these sorts of teams. Fair play to Norwich but they were dire.
And Arsenal were just clueless today. Save ozil and monresl and chech.
Santi has gone off the boil and we need him back at his best.
The jekyll & hyde act continures. This is a side that man handled manutd, beat bayern munich, but were lucky not to lose at Norwich – who are relegation fodder. Fucking ridiculous.
And The Injury Gods have pretty much shit in our wheaties. Its just baffling how this shit keeps hapening over and over.
Well, that’s two of our four easy games done and we have one whole point to show fot them.
AW said after the game that Alexis told him he felt perfectly fine. I/We, however, have all been saying that maybe we would have to rest Alexis today because he has been carrying a hamstring niggle. I thought the manager, together with our world leading medical team, made the decisions on when to rest players – not the players themselves.
As Thierry Henry said after the game – if the player said he didn’t want to play, he might as well not be at the club – he is bound to say he is okay.
AW said the team looked jaded today and he really had no options up front anyway. Well there’s a shock. Just about everyone I know said all summer that we needed a keeper, ideally another good centre back, and most definitely another defensive midfielder and a striker.
Our best centre back lasted seven minutes today, our best goal scorer is probably out for 4-6 weeks judging by the way he went down, and Cazorla finished the game “on one leg, with a knee injury” in the words of our manager.
Giroud strolled through the game like we were 5-0 up, not even bothering to try to get onside with any urgency at all. At the moment, he would struggle to get a game for the Dog and Duck.
We now have to find two or three top-top quality players in the January window where they are normally rarer than hen’s teeth, and admit that a number of the current squad are not up to the stresses of a Premier League season.
