Groundhog Day – Henry Off Again!
May 2nd, 2007 by 'holic
The popular press is at it again. According to sensational headlines and carefully constructed reports our former skipper, Patrick Vieira, has alluded to Titi’s imminent departure from the Grove.
Paddy is quoted as saying “He has been at Arsenal a long time working with Dein and Wenger and he would consider his future if these two people who built the current Arsenal were to leave the club”.
I have looked at that time and again and it does not add up to a transfer request to me. Yes, David Dein has moved on, but Arsene has already confirmed he will at least see out his existing contract, and will talk to the board later in the year about an extension.
“Wait”, I hear the hacks’ say, “it makes perfect sense because yesterday Vieira revealed Wenger would be leaving”. Really? Was that when he said “I don’t see Arsene finishing the job by himself, but you never know.” Well that sounds more like an opinion than a record of fact to me.
I’ll leave it to you to translate for yourselves.
I’m also indebted to the Daily Mail and Sporting Life for informing me that the Arsenal Supporters Trust are seeking a meeting with Stan Kroenke to discover his intentions. Strange they should report this after the weekly Arsenal Independent Supporters Association e-mail dropped into my inbox reporting that…you’re ahead of me aren’t you?
Hopefully the laziest of journalists will be able on feast on the failure of England’s top two in this weeks Champions League semi-finals and leave us alone for a day or two. Allardyce for Old Trafford or Stamford Bridge anyone?
