Robin Drives Ajax Clean Round The Bend!

First things first. Sorry to those of you who emailed me in your one’s expressing how disappointed you were that I was away for the weekend. I have to confess I missed the live showing of the contest that saw the Amsterdam Tournament won for the second time in three seasons.
I have rectified that on my return this evening, and what gripping viewing it made. Although I seethed with the rest of you as the challenges went in I have to say it is pleasing to see the side we had out there coming back from a full-blooded work out with a win.
Full marks to Gael Clichy who had threatened a couple of times from the left flank before the spellbinding run that led to Robin Van Persie netting the winner.
Also fair play, I say, to Gallas and Kolo Toure. Those who scream for new signings every five minutes have included a number of Huntelaar admirers in their ranks. I will confess to having my doubts about Billy, but he was part of a solid defensive performance that hopefully will be repeated in the weeks to come.
Once again it is difficult to ignore the dark side of Eboue. In a competitive game he would probably have seen red. Just when you think he is winning you over, he reverts to type.
Anyway, it’s good to be back. I’m really looking forward to taking my seat in the Grove on Sunday. Every season under Wenger the sense of anticipation has been immense and this year is no different. Yes, I think we could do with another player or two, but the pre-season performances against quality opposition have shown there is more to this squad than some people give credit for. Come on you Gunners!

Glad you’re back big fella, this is the only blog I read on a regular basis.
Clichy was amazing against Ajax, it was good to see him have a pop too. Also, something that not many people have taken note of, Van Persie has scored 2 very good goals with his right foot in pre-season. The fact that he’s had no right foot in his time here has been my only major problem with him. Let’s hope that’s sorted.
If I can convince Kez to let me out on Sunday (already unfer the thumb 🙁 ) Fancy a drink before the match?
Oh bugger, forgot to mention one more thing…..1sr h’lic 😉
Well I don’t normally drink Simmo *cough* . The problem on Sunday is the kick-off is midday, and I could struggle to get there in time for a meaningful sup prior to the game. I’ll try and check out the train times and let you know mate.
Oh sorry ‘Hoilc, I forgot you don’t drink and would never refer to a train as a bar.
