Arsenal Are Full Of East End Promise!
Sep 27th, 2007 by 'holic
So we are off to a somewhat surprising modern day bogey team this weekend. When West Ham became the first team to take all three points off Arsenal at the Grove last season they became the only team to ‘do the double’ over the Gunners in the Ashburton era. In fact since Bobby Zamora settled the contest in April, Arsenal have not lost in the Premiership to anybody.
The thirteen year old ‘holic made his first journey to Upton Park in 1970. I was streetwise enough not to wear colours, but once in the South Bank I foolishly joined in the first chants of ‘The Arsenal’. Down the years young Gunners on and off the pitch have learned that this is a place to play smart.
Arsenal are still missing Jens Lehmann and William Gallas to strangely lengthy injuries. Tomas Rosicky is still ‘hamstrung’, and Alex Song will be ruled out by a calf strain. A late decision will be made on Alexander Hleb but my gut feeling is that he will be passed fit.
The modern day Arsenal are beginning to combine skill and steel in a way that even a year ago seemed alien to them, and for that reason I am confident that the visitors could turn the tables on Saturday.
If they are fit the Hammers could field former Gunners Matthew Upson and Freddie Ljungberg. How hard will it be to watch Freddie on the wrong side? Answer, very!
The ‘holic pound will be on the away win. I’m going for 1-2 to the Arsenal, so given my track record this season that removes one option from your weekend wagers!

The alert amongst you will have noticed a new name in the sidebar. If teeshirts are your thing then check out the arseshirts site. They have a growing range of 100% cotton tees for Gooners and can service orders from Europe and the U.S. so check them out. I think they have some terrific designs.

Those of you who have been following the taking down of Craig Murray and Tim Ireland’s sites by lawyers acting for Alisher Usmanov may be interested to know that Tim is now operating a temporary blog here. Different people have different reasons for joining in the campaign that has started in the last week. I hope it doesn’t fizzle out prematurely, and I’m sure it won’t. Important principles are at stake for politicians and Arsenal supporters alike.

That little bugger Mark Lawrenson is going on a limb for 2-1 Westham (on BBC’s web site)!
When the ball hits your head,
and you sit is Row Z,
that’s Zamora.
in…in row Z.
gc – that’s great news. He backed us to beat Blackburn and those are the only points we’ve dropped so far!
I have a sneaky susspicion we will draw this one…..and that won’t be a bad result.
Come on the Gunners.
Dont worry guys, Like Spuds. Wet Spam is guaranteed to attack us- what else can a forward lineup comprising of Bellamy and Ashton do? The counter attack will be fast and breathtaking. We’ve got hard punchers in Diaby, in the boxes in Edouardo, long range shooters in Van Persie and a hussler, in-your -face Adebayor.
I’m looking forward to a multiple goal score of 3-4 goals. We scoring them that is. Therafter, Im planning to get pissed and I’ll tape MOTD.
Nice weekend gooners
Arsenal are the best.
