Arsenal Supporters Groups Unite Against Usmanov
Oct 6th, 2007 by 'holic
It is really good to see the various Arsenal supporters groups coming together to oppose the potential takeover of the club by individual predators. I would like to thank the Arsenal Independent Supporters Association (AISA) for permission to reproduce an important statement.
At its AGM on Thursday the AISA unanimously agreed a resolution as follows.
“AISA believes that the strategies followed by the current Board of Directors, and their predecessors, have delivered stability and success over many years. We do not support moves for effective control of the Club to be transferred to any one individual or company, and particularly not to investors and others that have no long-term connection or involvement in Arsenal Football Club.
AISA is totally opposed to any changes in the ownership of the Club that would lead to a major increase in debt or in securing short-term profits through significant hikes in ticket prices.
We will support and work with other fans organisation, such as the Arsenal Supporters’ Trust and REDaction, that have similar views.
We very much welcome statements from Peter Hill-Wood and Danny Fiszman about their role as custodians of the Club. We believe that the development of a corporate structure that allows for effective involvement and representation from shareholders and supporters is something that the Board should consider.
Whilst we recognise that in football it is difficult to ever say ‘never’ AISA finds it difficult to envisage any circumstances in the foreseeable future where we could support a major change in the ownership of Arsenal Football Club that is not supported by the Board of the Club.”
AISA are also working with the Arsenal Supporters Trust and REDaction on complementary courses of protest and action which will commence in earnest at the home game with Sunderland tomorrow.
Hopefully the growing deluge of support for the existing board will reinforce their determination to extend the lockdown agreement, so critical in maintaining the status quo.
Thank you everybody for your efforts.

Kroenke’s a good American lad, he wouldn’t sell the Arsenal down stream.
Posted in: naively optimistic
Mr Kroenke is a sporting man and understands what clubs mean to the fans.Hopefully he will not be tempted to sell to Usmanov but either hold them as an investment or sell to members of the Board when the lockdown ends.
Where are the genuine multi-millionaire Arsenal supporters with so much passion for the club who can step in and persuade the likes of Kroenke to sell up to them hence increasing the authority of the present board?
We also seek to plead to those ‘little’ shareholders in the club to hold unto their shares solidly, despite the lure of mega profits from the sale of these currently.
If you love this club the way it is run, its core values and standards, please, please, we implore you, hold unto your shares for as long as it is necessary to convince this Russian guy, that he is barking up the wrong tree and has no chance in a million years to lay his hands on our club.
This is the time to stand up and be counted for the heart and soul of this club. Once these go, then lets all be ready to wave bye bye to AFC in about 3-5 years time, if that long.
It is Usma NO with a ‘V’ sign at the end.
Perhaps a renaming of the ground is in the offing!!
