Gunners Resources To Be Tested
Jan 5th, 2008 by 'holic
I had a little fun on Thursday suggesting we would see a stronger side fielded against Burnley than Tottenham in the up-coming cup ties. That may still be the case but the list of absentees at Turf Moor is growing.
Emmanuel Adebayor, Robin van Persie, and Alex Hleb are all ‘gone in the fetlock’. Matthieu Flamini is ruled out by suspension, and there will be a rest for Gael Clichy, Cesc Fabregas, and possibly William Gallas.
Arsene Wenger has already hinted that Jens Lehmann will return in goal against the Championship club. A back four of Sagna, Toure, Senderos, and Traore seems likely. The midfield quartet could well be Eboue, Denilson, Diarra, and Diaby or Rosicky. Nicklas Bendtner has served his suspension and should return to the front line alongside Eduardo.
I can imagine Burnley making every effort to deny us space and time, and if they have any degree of success the outcome could be decided by the strength of the bench. Will the rested players be there ‘just in case’?
I thought long and hard about the ‘holic pound as all too often in the past I have seen the so-called smaller sides make us look distinctly uncomfortable. In fairness though there have been no major surprises in the Wenger years and I think we will come through tomorrow. I have plumped for 3-1, with a potential little earner on the in-form Eduardo to grab the first goal.
Tedious Real Madrid Stirring Again
A day after Real Madrid were told to forget a reported interest in Christiano Ronaldo, we find that Cesc Fabregas once again has to reaffirm his commitment to Arsenal.
I know the Spanish giants have always advertised their wish list publically, and Barcelona are no different, but when (if ever) will UEFA show some teeth. All they have to do as a body is organise competitions and keep their members in line. Fifty percent is a pretty poor success rate, if you ask me.
Michel Platini, do something useful for once!

Hope your ‘holic pound multiplies nicely at the betshop. You have a similar probable line-up predicted, haha. Those fucking Madrid cunts can go fuck themselves, honestly, all this tapping-up through their media tools is bad class.
First orders?
Platini, do something useful, heh.
In fairness we do rob Barca of their youngsters.
Hey Pip,
orders? thats what we call them here huh? We robbed Barca twice so far right? and its only the potential world beaters, not established stars. Not quite the same, i think.
No one UNDER CONTRACT has been taken from Barca! That’s why there’s a rule against tapping up but not against signing young Barca players.
what LB said.
They obviously don’t know and don’t understand that my Cesc is a Gunner + what Steve & LB said.
How many times are the Spaniards going to pull this circus act before they get the idea??
Real is not getting my Cesc. Barca is not getting my Cesc. He’s red-&-white!
