This Is Lassana Diarra – That Was!
Jan 16th, 2008 by 'holic
So Lassana Diarra is gone, or is he? At least we got to see him in an Arsenal shirt on a couple of occasions, which is more than can be said for Clive Allen. Apparently everybody has agreed with everybody else that Diarra can go, but confirmation is slow in arriving, much like Arsenal TV to non-Sky subscribers!
Talking of the Arsenal TV debacle, I have now not heard a peep out of Virgin Media in eighty hours. I decided not to wait any longer to question Setanta, and that was over twenty-four hours ago. Still nothing from them either I’m afraid. I’m saving Arsenal until last, knowing from my contacts in the club already what I can expect to receive as an answer!
The response to that story has been astonishing. Now a good chunk of that is due to the link from Arseblog (thanks big man), but it is also clear that a number of you signed up for cable services in various countries, and it is not just in the UK and Ireland that there are frustrated potential customers. For instance fans in Australia have been informed that due to FA regulations, Setanta themselves cannot show Arsenal TV!
Anyway, thank you all for your responses. I thought you would just turn up in your thousands yesterday, and then never again. I was wrong. As well as the comments on yesterday’s piece I have also received a tremendous e-mail response. That surprised me as the address is fairly well hidden to keep spammers at bay. (You might try a variation of gooner at goonerholic.com!)
To those who think they remember one of my correspondent’s, or indeed myself, from trips years ago I can only say ‘you have lived too long!’ I remember a number of away trips where the number of travelling Gunners was in either double, or even single figures! That was, however, a long time ago, and never did we think we would be writing in fanzines and on blogs. Far less did we think we would be taking umbrage about not receiving an Arsenal Television Channel.
Life is strange.
Did you see the link?
Ok, small print I know. Read it far enough and you will get to…
“Virgin Media customers can also receive the seven channel Setanta Sports Pack: Setanta Sports 1, Setanta Sports 2, Setanta Golf, Racing UK, Celtic TV, Rangers TV, LFC TV and will receive Arsenal TV when it launches soon.”

This Virgin thing is a real disaster innit??
Sorry for you guys. You’d think these big players would sort out the bugs before making any kinda announcement eh?
BTW, don’t know if you lads are interested… It’s Nicklas Bendtner’s birthday. He turned 20 on the 16th.
Ta!
This is the script i got from Setanta OZ when i asked if it would be available here…..
FA Premier League rules state you can only licence 2 club channels per territory (Australia). We signed deals with MUTV and Chelsea TV before Arsenal TV launched so therefore we will be unable to broadcast another club channel at the moment.
We will review our club channel situation in the near future and your feedback and the feedback of hundreds of Arsenal fans who have contacted us will be taken into account, so things may change, but for now, unfortunately Arsenal TV will not be available on Setanta Australia.
Siren, you’re just going around getting your firsts in huh? *chuckle*
I hope VM sorts it out soon, ‘holic. For your sake. Diarra out has only been stated by 2 sources so far, skysports.com and *ahem* Pyles Malmer. Do you think we’ll be much arsed?
I have a different opinion about the Diarra situation, going in the face of everything most other bloggers seem to think. Check out my site and have a read.
Loving your work Goonerholic- keep up your campaign against terrible services!!
I have it on good authority that if peanut doesn’t get in the first team at Pompey this week he’s gonna slap in a transfer.
