'It Promises A Very Exciting Sunday' – Wenger
Mar 22nd, 2008 by 'holic
“What’s interesting on Sunday, and was maybe not the case in the first Grand Slam Sunday, is that all four teams have a very good reason to try and win the game. Chelsea is in that position, we are in that position, Liverpool are in that position and Man United as well. It promises a very exciting Sunday and all the four teams are really in a must-win game.”
Thank you Arsenal TV, I’ve missed you, but once again I am delighted to hear Arsene Wenger giving his pre-match press conference. He is quite taken with the idea of having the big four in opposition to each other on this ‘day with many names’.
The bullish noises that emanated from the Grove yesterday, indeed all week, are good to hear. I think the boys are getting in the mood to give it a real go at the Bridge. A word to Robin van Persie though. We don’t actually ‘need’ to win a trophy this season to prove anything to those of us who are surprised, delighted, and extremely proud of what the side has already achieved this season. By the great lord Chapman we desperately ‘want’ you to win something, preferably the double, but you have absolutely nothing to prove to true Arsenal fans.
So come on, I hear you implore, where is the ‘holic pound going? The force is strong this morning so I am off to grab a slice of 2-1 to the Arsenal which is on offer at around tens. Matty Flamini likes playing against Chelsea so looks an interesting first goalscorer proposition at 20 or 25/1. Don’t rule out Chelsea to lead at half-time and Arsenal to win at a range of prices up to 40/1.
Have a happy Easter
I’m sorry I wasn’t around yesterday to wish you a happy holiday. Those of you lucky beggars who have a ticket for the Bridge, have a great day. I have to make a decision about whether to watch the game at home or go up to the local, which is a bit of a Chelsea stronghold. The thought of ripping them a new one after we have won is tempting, but …
There’s always a but, isn’t there?
Anyway, have a great day and make a lot of noise. As for those of you in the same boat as me I hope you find somewhere with large screens and cheap beer. Up the Arsenal.

Have you been reading my mind? That in a nutshell is exactly how I feel!
Come on you REDS!!!
Have a great Easter, ‘holic.
Oh yeah, I remember you surrounded by Chelsea fans in the buffet coach on the train from Swindon (well, Reading for me!).
I was nearly sick from the night before, but thankfully, seeing you got the day to a great start!
Should be a great day of footy! Sounds like we’re going to be well up for it and hopefully RVP will find his shooting boots on Sunday. I think we might go 451 for this game which begs the question – where will RVP play? In the hole behind Adebayor probably and dropping into midfield when required. I expect the chavs to be very highly motivated and no doubt a physical full-on battle will ensue, so I hope we’re prepared for it and don’t get drawn into a war of attrition – I worry about Eboue v Terry to be honest as he’s a loose ‘canon’ [ahem …]. Will we see Theo?
Not sure I can agree with you about Flamini scoring but I hope you’re right mate. I suspect he’ll be occupied breaking up their midfield which should make for a great contest between him and Makalele – a contest he will surely win!
COME ON THE ARSENAL!
God I hate Chelsea.
