Days of Summer
Jun 6th, 2008 by 'holic
Hello all, and sorry for the dearth of posting. I have been playing doctors and nurses, well mainly nurses actually, but enough of my character defects.
In all honesty there has been precious little to comment on because the speculation is rife, and most of it is contemptible.
On Sunday it will be four weeks since I saw the Arsenal, and the withdrawal symptoms are starting to kick in. I miss seeing Bacary Sagna running out looking like he has spent a hard morning painting ceilings.
I miss watching Gael Clichy impersonating the sixth former who has been picked to play against the masters, and who is determined to expose their lack of pace and ability.
I miss watching Cesc dictating the pace and direction of the game in the centre of the park. I yearn to see once more that run by Theo to set up the goal at Anfield that took us within six minutes of a Champions League semi-final.
I so much want to see Ade smiling and laughing as he dances his way to another thirty goal haul, which hopefully will include another clincher against Milan in the San Siro, just to show them what they will be missing.
Then there are those I will miss seeing, to a greater or lesser degree. Jens departure was as inevitable as it was sad. Another of the invincibles has moved on, and does so with our best wishes and gratitude.
Then there is Emmanuel E-bay-e. Like so many purchases from the internet auction site he is useless in the box, and works only fitfully and temperamentally out of it. His new listing warns he is only available for the next 85 days, 17 hours and 21 minutes.
Are you watching Barca?
Have a great weekend all, even if there is nothing to do.

According to the infestation on my blog, this is what one calls a ‘shit article’. This is measured by the amount of comments you have, ‘holic.
Summers have always been terrible (for us in the Southern Hemisphere, read: ‘Winters’), but this plague of ‘I hate those other twats’ within the Arsenal fraternity of fans is really…irksome and seemingly-contemporary.
I’m glad you’ve maintained your quality. Thanks for posting.

According to the Ajax website, Arsenal will be playing in the Amsterdam Tournament again this year, along with Sevilla, Inter and surprisingly enough, Ajax. We are scheduled to play Ajax on 8th August and Sevilla on 9th. This seems a bit late to me, when does the season start again?
Nothing on the Arsenal site yet (surprise surprise!)
Heh,
Thanks Jam. I have just seen your latest contributor. Don’t take it to heart, he will have to go to school in an hour.
Down the years Arsenal fans have been good at falling out with each other. I remember forty years ago some little high-spirited banter between ‘north’ and ‘south’ London at the back of the North Bank.
A decade on and the top and middle would be ribbing each other. Then the North Bank and Clock End. Nowadays the boundaries seem a little more confused, but we still like to wind each other up.
We are, however, still a cut above everybody else!
Hooray, there’s a new ‘holic blog.
Particularly cool since aulaitaulait being in maintenance is gay!
Well done, good man!
Be fair though, like the rest of us, you’ve missed seeing Bac Sag for much longer than 4 weeks!
And haha at the little logo with the Eboue story.
Thanks Ollie,
Yes, that maintenance screen is annoying, isn’t it? Keep trying.
Good article (except for the mild Eboue bashing, he can improve!) – there’s not to going to be much/any transfer action now until the end of the Euros is there? I just need to get this straight in my head…
Hello.
missed you holic! Loved that “buy it now” ebay icon alongside Eboue’s name, best joke I’ve seen yet about the sad case of our non-performing Emmanuel.
Solution is pretty simple, holic. Just turn on to Euro 2008 and ponder
– Is Senderos really up to it at the very top level?
– is Djouru the man to play as our defensive mid-field Dynamo?
– Cesc is wearing Number 10 for Spain, should he do so for us?
– Is Nasri such a magician that Arsene should go all out to land him?
– Is RVP going to be top scorer or is his fetlock going to go again?
– Is Willie Gallas going to throw another wobbly in a French shirt?
– If Ade had been born in Luton, would England be there?
Sun’s shining here in Virginia. I’m off to the Auld Shabeen to watch the Swiss gunners and ponder……Is Senderos really………..mine’s a guinness please landlord. Can I get one for you, holic? Or are you pondering?
Never say no to a Guinness BtM. Thanks.
