Welcome Samir Nasri
Jul 11th, 2008 by 'holic
The worst kept secret of the summer finally came to fruition this morning with the official announcement of the signing of Samir Nasri being revealed.
If some had been excessive in their impatience as his arrival was delayed, then so we should guard against proclaiming the ‘second coming of the Messiah’ now he has been unveiled. Make no mistake, this is a typical Wenger signing, a young and versatile creative midfielder. It remains to be seen though if he is effectively as versatile as he claims.
“I like offensive, technical and quick football – exactly in the style of Arsenal. I hope I will integrate myself quickly in this team and bring everything I can to Arsenal and the fans. I can play in the centre or on the wing, behind one or two strikers, on the left or the right.” He is no shrinking violet.
It is good to hear such confidence. Most have talked of him in terms of replacing the now imminently departing Hleb. It is simple to draw such a conclusion, but I would not be surprised to see him starting on the left hand side given the ongoing situation with Rosicky.
He may well be given opportunities to play ‘in the hole’ when we switch to a five in the middle, and we will then get a clearer idea of just how much footballer we have got for our ‘undisclosed’ fee of around £11-12 million. In the meantime we should perhaps express some thanks to a couple of former legends.
“I know Thierry Henry and Patrick Vieira very well and they have told me a lot of good things about Arsenal Football Club. They both had amazing times at this Club and, even talking to them now, they are still very enthusiastic about Arsenal. Both Thierry and Patrick have given me a lot of advice and they both told me that it was the best choice for me to come to Arsenal.”
Welcome, Samir, and good luck. I hope we all remember to give you the time to develop into the player we really hope you can become.
Have a great weekend all.

Just passing by.
Should be a good signing for u gunners, this one has dragged on nearly as long as the David Bentley saga!
Hopefully we can give u gunners a game next season, COYS!
Y4ever, forgive me for changing your name. I know to you it is a term of endearment. I have used it myself in the past, but it is deemed offensive to friends of mine so I do not want to see it here.
LWC, if you are baffled, is short for Lilly White Chap, or something like that.
Thanks for your fair comments. If you really want Bentley then I hope you get him. Up the Arse.
Nasri is the real deal , Alexander H…who..?? We are not even gonna miss this
‘Paranoide’ ..And 4 ALL U “HATERS” FUCK OFF .
ARSENAL 4 PL.
ARSENAL 4 CH L.
Classy insult ‘holic.
Bottom Fondling salutes you!
Very sensible and balanced post as usual ‘holic. Hopefully Nasri is as versatile as he says – that is certainly the kind of player Arsene likes rather than someone wedded to one position.
I’ll drink to that ‘holic.
Hahahaha, ‘holic.

Thanks mubeennor, I think somebody has given you the unabridged version of Snow White there. Be careful.
😉
Great Breaking News Really!
I hope he ‘ll make a hit in Arsenal .
Can’t wait to see the new season!
Heh @ ‘holic and his knowledge of unabridged works (which is not the opposite of ‘bridge works’, by the way).
Samuel Nazri gonna rock the BPL
*waves*
Hello mrs. Unlike you to frequent a down-market establishment. 😉
You are very welcome.
Great news about Nasri for sure, Hleb can go all he likes if London is rather too busy for him and they don’t server real italian nor spanish ice cream there. I don’t know what he’s on about but doesn’t he know that footballers life looks like? Hleb if you’re reading this it is very busy perhaps you can’t take the pressure mate! Ta ta
As much as I welcome Nasri to Arsenal, I cant help feeling we have already lost the cause by selling Hleb and Ade and Bert.
And for all we know , Nasri is another Ade in the making.
