Gratuitous Gloating
Sep 16th, 2008 by 'holic
It’s hard to believe that a fortnight ago there was much wailing and gnashing of teeth because Arsene Wenger had failed to write out a couple of large cheques as the transfer window was slammed shut. Those who over-reacted the most were, I trust, witnessing events at the other end of Seven Sisters Road last evening. Spending big money is obviously no guarantee of instant success, and a summer spree of seventy million pounds has earned our old friends a solitary point from their opening four fixtures. (Thanks for the seven million that was our cut for Bentley, neighbours.)
They may not remain rock bottom for too long, (or maybe they will, heh), but the lessons to be learned from our under-achieving chums are plain to see. While we argue whether or not ‘Arsene knows’, it is evident that Juande Ramos clearly does not.

I like a man who can’t resist a gloat.
hahaha….a fork has more points than spurs !!!
I believe the germans call it schadenfreude – shameful joy !
Am sure our second team will do better than this people
Great gloating Sir!
Time to look at the table
Spurs on top
Oh no, sorry I was holding it upside down
Haha
Bottomham Hotspurs
spurs bought in good players but they sell their best players, keane and berbatov. that’s their mistake. that’s why they will remain below arsenal.
Never mind a fork. A toothpick has more points than the spuds. HAha
Yes good but i think Villa looked a good team i still wish we had bought Barry as he was a class act
Also on England front what about Asley Young on one side and Walcott on the other would froghten any defence in the world
Instability is the problem.
It’s why keeping Adebayor was crucial to our chances this year. It’s why we won’t need to buy much again next summer either. As long as we keep the squad together.
Just look at Nacer Barazite. What an outstanding prospect. He lit up Pride Park at the w/e. Inspiring Derby to their first win in 362 days. As well as scoring a brace for the Dutch U/19s the previous w/e.
Nasri is legions ahead of Ashley Young IMO…..would no doubt cost far less too.
To the main point. One can only laugh at the Spuds. They’ve made shed loads from Berbatoss and Keane which they pour into buying loads of other players yet still can’t get it anywhere near right…..during which process they give it the large one declaring they will finish above Arsenal. How many times have we heard that one before?
They are a complete laughing stock 🙂 🙂
Gloating is never good, folks, it may come back to haunt you. But I think there is a lesson for Arsenal fans to learn here. The lesson is to have a view of the totality of what makes a club successful, not short-term gratification from signings and billionaires. Again, I have said it many times and will say it again: Arsenal is lucky to have the board and manager it does. Both are absolutely first class and men of great integrity. In football it’s rare and I love it. My last point, I watched Arsenal over the weekend against Blackburn and they never stop amazing me. The second goal, scored by Ade, was the best goal I have ever seen and I have watched a lot of football. 30 odd passes, possession for more than 60 seconds and a goal, without a single Blackburn player touching the ball. Compared to what’s being offered at the billionaire clubs, I would not trade that for anything, even a league title won by buying Essien, Villa, Robinho and Ronaldo. My point, I love Arsenal the way it is and I would like Arsenal fans to leave me to love it this way, and not impose a Man City, Man U or Chelsea view on me..
Good point LB. All of which I cannot disagree with.
So far, the Spuds usual pre-season derision aimed at us Gooners surely has come back to haunt………….them is my main point. Which is why I believe they are laughing stock.
No problem, Don. I think the fact that I’m not English means I don’t have the Spurs rivalry thing in my blood. But there’s no doubt, Spurs make themselves look silly mainly by the things they say about Arsenal.
Totally agree with Andre 2000 and LB. It’s the Tottenham board’s ability to cause chaotic instability. They have had great players and great managers. They just don’t click.
I also don’t want Arsenal to change, never mind the trophies if they’re only up for grabs for hundreds of millions of “unnatural” money.
And oh, I too as non-English don’t have anything against the Spurs, they’re like Fulham to me. They sometimes even play with style. It’s Chelski and ManUre to hate for me. As was Liverpool in the eighties.
Never doubt the Arsene. Never…not even if he sold the entire team and brought in a bunch of 10 year olds. He is worth £100m worth of investments on his own!
Change the law: Knight Arsene.
