So Here's To You Mr Robinson…
Sep 12th, 2008 by 'holic
Hello all. As you may now be aware, if you have listened to the Arsecast, I am suffering from that most debilitating of conditions, Anfield alzheimer’s. I cannot remember the name of any Liverpool players, past or present, which is a bit of a drawback given that tomorrow’s opponents have just signed an ex-scouser on a pay-as-you-play deal.
I would be surprised if whatshisname is selected ahead of Santa Cruz and McCarthy, so he can probably look forward to a spell on the bench as cover. The memory is much better when it comes to Paul Robinson though. He has recovered from the bad back he developed facing Emmanuel Adebayor in north London derbies but I’m sure Ade will be looking forward to renewing hostilities tomorrow.
I’m relying on a fairly light-hearted approach to this preview because we don’t really know which Arsenal will pitch up at Ewood Park. Midweek internationals may have cost us the services of Samir Nasri and Carlos Vela. I’m sure after I hit the publish button the lunchtime press conferences will reveal another couple of absentees.
Under normal circumstances I think Theo Walcott may have started on the bench tomorrow after the rarity of two consecutive starts for England, but he is likely to start on the left if Nasri fails to make it.
This is the first away match since the debacle at Fulham and I’m sure that fact will be drilled into the side before kick-off. Blackburn could have more to offer than the West Londoners but I expect a much different attitude from the visitors.
I will wait for confirmation of the squad before finally depositing the ‘holic pound, but at this moment I am thinking possibly 3-1 to the Arsenal. I’m seldom this bullish before a trip to the north-west. Let’s hope I don’t end up regretting it.
Hopefully I will be back with a look at the match tomorrow night. Have a great weekend all.

3 goals would be really nice. Is Walcott equally effective on both sides? I hope Walcott gets a goal. Cesc too.
I actually think Walcott is better coming in from the left, 433. Look at the Twente game, look at the highlight clips of his Southampton days. Cutting in onto that right foot he is impressive.
I just want us to play pretty football and win nothing again! I really love that and we can look down on other teams and shout “hoof!!” every time the opposition pass. That’s our only enjoyment.
I think Walcott would score more goals playing on the left as he can cut inside with that right foot of his ala Henry.
Arsenal are a joy to watch for and i’m a 44 year Liverpool fan. And Steve that is very perceptive. It cracks me up every time a 24 pass Arsenal move is ruined by an attempted 25th pass from someone 8 yards from goal. Any way if we beat Utd tomorrow I shall be watching the gooners with my usual smile as they attempt to play 5 a side football on a full size pitch. Best of luck.
Steve Dee: The only hoof I’m interesting in, is Robert Hoof (o.g.), joint top-scorer at the mighty Spurs, and long may he remain so!
hello, gooners,my name is Serguey,i am a gooner from Odessa Ukraine.next wednesday i will be attending the Dinamo game in Kiev with my girlfriend. it’s gonna be in the section 24 ,raw 9,place 25,26 of the Lobanovskiy stadium. For me it would be a pleasure to team up and to go there up with ‘genuine’-)) Arsenal supporters.so if some of you are in the same part of the place don’t hesitate to call my number +38**********.cheers
Edit: Serguey, best not leave your phone number here in full view. If anybody who is travelling would like Serguey’s number drop me a line, gooner(at)goonerholic.com
As long as we can defend the ball over the top, i think we will be fine
walcott should play in the absence of Nasri. of course if Nasri is fit then its up to wenger but I would say Eboue may start with Nasri. seems to me Nasri needs some rest since he keeps picking up these little niggles.
Theo will get fouled a lot more but then he has always been fouled a fair amount (took a big whack against the croats). winning free kicks is part of the game – if only we could capitalise on them.
thanks a lot for taking care of my post,Goonerholic,my besy regards to you and the Arseblogger-))
An early drink is in order. Days off rock! A pint of star please ‘holic
I will have to get something non alcoholic, as I am on call.
Do you serve Irn-Bru here, ‘holic? 😀
Theo will have to put his hatrick heroics on the “blackburner” for now and concentrate for this game…
I’ll get my coat…
It’s going to be a fine and dry weekend, so just a Pimms for me, thanks.
I wonder if anyone has ever scored a hatrick in an international match and followed it up with a domestic one in their next game. I suspect not, but any statto types out there willing to have a try at finding out?
still a shite site with a crowd of Arsene lick arses. Now fucking ban me you knob
And yet you still visit?
Very intelligent comment from paulie. I just wonder why he comes on the “shite” site just to be banned.
‘Holic – I’m a huge fan of Walcott (although I’m not “I-Love-Walcott-more-than-you”) who’s doing so well at fantasy football….
He’s fantastic on the right – my first-choice right-midfielder, so if he’s even better on the left, and I know the Twente goal you’re talking about and some of the goals he scored for the Under-21s, then it would be great for him to have a run there.
I think with Walcott, Cesc, Adebayor and Van Persie that Arsenal have 4 hugely talented players, so hopefully Arsene Wenger will construct a formation and a system that gets the best out of them.
