Back To ATVO And Silvestre Adds Weight To The Defence.

Readers who have been with me since the turn of the year will know the song and dance I created about Arsenal TV not featuring on Virgin Media when it launched in January. For a couple of months UK cable customers were denied the service which was all the more irritating because like a number of others I had cancelled My ATVO subscription, thinking we would be getting the broadcast version.
In the end we were lucky. Outside of the UK some curious FA Premier League contractual broadcast restrictions meant that a lot of you were less fortunate, and still cannot get the service. That is unless you subscribe to ATVO, which now does what it should have done back in January, and simultaneously streams the Arsenal TV channel.
I must confess to having re-subscribed to the online service to avoid arguments with the management. She was not chuffed that the main programmes I watch, namely the live reserve games and the Friday night Fans Forum, clash with her beloved soaps. £3.99 a month is a very small price to pay to keep the crown jewels bruise-free. A bonus is I now have the press conferences again, which is quite handy for a blogger.
Since I was so critical of all concerned at the time it is only fair that I point out the stream is of a very good quality too. Last night I took the opportunity to watch the reserves overcome a fairly physical young Stoke side.
The introduction of Mikael Silvestre to the heart of the defence didn’t result in a clean sheet, but he came in for rich praise from manager Neil Banfield, who commended his attitude for asking to play and talked up the example he set to the lads around him. Silvestre himself confided that Arsene Wenger had suggested the run-out might do him good. Either way he now has a game under his belt this season, and it looked as though he may have needed it.
There was also a surprise introduction for attacking midfielder Amaury Bischoff, a summer capture from Werder Bremen, who has been on Emergency Ward Ten since his arrival. He got a pretty impressive hour under his belt, but of course we are not short of attacking midfielders at the club, and he was possibly outshone by another of the new arrivals, Francis Coquelin, who scored his first goal for the club.
The youngsters went on to complete a 3-2 triumph which will lift the mood around the training ground after last weeks drubbing at the hands of Aston Villa. Unfortunately the lads do not have a game next week to break up this fortnight without football (well internationals don’t count, do they?).
So there we are, just ten days remain of ‘Cesc tells Spanish press he’s off’ stories, ten days of worrying just who will come back from the internationals ‘gone in the fetlock’, and just ten days of gloating about Tottenham’s predicament before they bounce back with a win over Stoke. No, really they will, maybe, perhaps.
Laters ‘holics.

Ahhh, the righteous indignation of the jobbing blogger. You’re one of the few people I know with a subscription to AVTO, I reckon the club should give it to season ticket holders free for a couple of months or something, see if they can stir up some interest. But then again, when the feck would Arsenal give anything away?
Aha, true Dutch. Actually, I thought it would be in their interests to let Arsenal TV subscribers have a free subscription.
In all truth getting the new iMac has made it a good deal because I can run Windows on a virtual machine which means I can get downloads and view in fullscreen, which I couldn’t on the mini.
That makes ATVO really good value I think, particularly having seen the poor quality of some of the streams that leech off it.
If anybody at Arsenal TVonline is reading I wouldn’t mind a free subscription in return for this recommendation!
‘holic i don’t know how into Macs you are but an analysis of the similarities between arsenal fc and apple (single focal point of leadership, secrecy, belief in aesthetics and perfection) might be interesting in this fortnight of non-football
Very is the answer Alex, and that is a great idea. If anybody else has anything they think a limited blogger could tackle feel free to let me know. These international breaks are the hardest times of the season to know what to write to keep you interested so I might as well steal some inspiration from the poor sods who are subjected to my drivel 🙂
great! look forward to any articles that bring my two biggest interests together.
its always pissed me off that microsoft became a club partner when we moved to the grove!
Nice one ‘holic. I’m feeling a little cntinental this evening, so I’ll have a couple of botles of Italian urine Peroni, please.
As for ideas… Perhaps you’d like to enlighten us with you all time top ten most memorable Arsenal matches and why they stick in the memory for you. They don’t necessarily have to be title/cup winning games, but I’d be interested in hearing what they are and why – just a couple of lies for each … but only if you can be Arsed! 🙂
Lies! lies! Who do you think I am, a moonlighting Mail hack 🙂
Mi speeling is artrocious!
