Win Four Arsenal Books Competition Update
Oct 25th, 2008 by 'holic
A tortuous journey back from the M25 this afternoon ended in me seeking solace in the local pub for a swift pint and the end of the televised game (thank you Albanian television!). The landlord is a Chelsea supporter, but I don’t hold that against him…. much!
What a strange time we live in though, when both of us were hoping that West Bromwich Albion would take something off Hull City. Never mind. At least Everton stopped United from getting all three points.
Anyway, I promised an update on the competition to win the four latest book releases from Octopus Publishing. Entries are now in three figures, so thanks for that, but some contributions will not be going into the draw. Yes, I do mean you if you offered me a stonking deal on viagra, or a hot amateur horny couple tape!
If you haven’t got your entry in yet, don’t worry. The competition runs until Friday. The four books you can win are..
Arsenal: The Official Biography, by Steve Stammers, published by Hamlyn on 6th October.
Arsenal Confidential, Photography by Stuart Macfarlane, Club photographer, Hamlyn 6th October.
The Official Arsenal Encyclopaedia, published by Hamlyn on 6th October.
Arsenal: The Official Illustrated History, to be published by Hamlyn on 7th November.
To be in the draw just email competition@goonerholic.com with the answer to this question.
Which three clubs did Arsene manage before joining Arsenal in 1996?
On Thursday I gave you a little detail about the official illustrated history. Another of the titles on offer, The Official Arsenal Encyclopaedia is a complete A–Z of the Gunners. Every important fact about the club is in this essential reference book.
From the players who have graced the turf at Highbury and the Emirates Stadium to great games that have become part of footballing history, you’ll find it all here in this completely revised and updated encyclopaedia.
Fully illustrated and with a wealth of trivia and historical information contained in over 500 compelling entries, this is a vital addition to every Arsenal fan’s library.
Details on the other two titles follow next week. Come back tomorrow night for my take on the action from Upton Park. If you have a ticket, enjoy the trip. Even if you haven’t a ticket I hope we put on a performance for you, wherever you are watching. Have a good Sunday ‘holics.

I am waaaay too drunk to be ordering drinks on your website of
West Ham really (as usual to be honest) gave us a tough game. If I’m honest, I feel Arsenal were hard done by when Green should have been sent off for handling outside the area – the game would have been very different.
Otherwise it was a good game, a bit scary, great goal keeping from both ends and probably quite exciting from a neutral’s perspective.

I raise a drink not only to the result but a speacial mention for the most improving goalkeeper in the EPL – Manuel Almunia. Quietly gets on with his job with little fuss and the utmost professionalism. He kept us in the game when the little rat that is Bellamy broke free and just seems more and more in control with every game.
I will have a small glass of Glenlivet (someone brought me as a present) in his speacial honour tonight.
Well done Manuel 🙂
