How Not To Do It!

Feb 23rd, 2010 by 'holic

Those who saw the truly wonderful short documentary, A Night At The Emirates, on here last week will know just what feelings a high quality piece of filming, by a true professional, with quality equipment, can generate.

There is, however, the other side of the coin. If you are over fifty, have a belly full of Guinness, and a cheap camera phone, do not think for one moment that you can reproduce those feelings.

However, this must be an emotional recording, because the management was in tears while she was watching it!

A word of thanks to Snail, for allowing me to show his capture of the second goal. At least somebody had their wits about them. If I hadn’t added whiskey, beer and wine to the mix by that time I’m sure I would have had the sense to grab more than two seconds of celebration.

Rohan, you are safe from competition here.

The New Additions

You don’t have to be hawkeye to notice the new additions to the blog. The Arsenal ads will be around for a while, I hope. They are not there on a pay per click basis however. I don’t get a brass farthing unless you actually buy something. If that generates a contribution towards the web-hosting and domain name registration then great.

All I will ask is that if you were intending to buy the goods or services on offer anyway it would be great if you could click through from here. For now it is Armoury Square stones and Stadium tours on offer. I think I could be my first customer!

You were always going to get it before, me, I didn’t refresh just on the final whistle 😉 Well in Snail!
Oh, I’ll drink that with you, if you don’t mind.
(a different glass for me though)

  3. on 23 Feb 2010 at 9:47 pm3Snail

Admittedly the Fn F5 combo did come in to play… Next game we go to I will be taking a bigger camera…

  4. on 23 Feb 2010 at 9:50 pm4Ollie

That’s seriously missing the video of the drunken sod in club level dancing at the final whistle.

  5. on 23 Feb 2010 at 9:55 pm5Goonerholic

I did not see it, Ollie, as someone once said.

…but you may care to check toop in about half an hour 😉

  6. on 23 Feb 2010 at 9:58 pm6Ollie

You must have. Twice, as it’s ‘there’ too now :p

Not sure about the music, but then I’d always opt for the stadium noise.

I saw Rooney’s double today, and now I’ve got it in my head how nice it would be if Bendtner would start scoring goals like that.

Required: 10 goals from Nick in the run-in.

He’s got one so far. Nine more, Nick. Don’t let us down.

  17. on 24 Feb 2010 at 1:45 am17jim

    Escalators? Posh twat 😛

  18. on 24 Feb 2010 at 2:41 am18Tim Merrick

The added coverage of the late goal made me feel like I’d been drinking ‘suddenly they look really small down there Dad….”

Thanks though, being this far from the old stomping ground it’s always nice to see footage that isn’t accompanied by some expert saying “Wenger has now gone nearly 5 years without silverware”

Cheers – Can of something cold from the top of the old North Bank please

You don’t ask people who pay that much to walk upstairs, Jim 😉

Alcohol and filming = O my god I missed it.
I thought the the M People was very funny to go with it.
I don’t think John Woo will use you for his next action film thou.
    Great piece Holic.

  23. on 24 Feb 2010 at 10:03 am23Ingmar Bergman

    A masterpiece!

  24. on 24 Feb 2010 at 12:16 pm24Goonerholic

Are you one of the Essex Bergmans, Ingmar?

  25. on 24 Feb 2010 at 1:02 pm25Holloway2Holland

James Cameron, eat your heart out!

Thanks for that ‘holic and a quick lunch time pint for me please barman.

    Cheers.

We better start focusing on Stoke or the points and our season may be gone faster than you can wink. We are going to have to get an excellent performance to take all 3 points. My prediction: Stoke 1 Arsenal 2. Hot coffee please, barman!

  27. on 24 Feb 2010 at 2:52 pm27A

Thanks for the tips ‘holic and the video isn’t half as bad as most of the pixelated ones on YouTube so well done for that 😛

got any other suggestions/tips for me? 🙂

    http://www.didntseeit.wordpress.com

also, do you think the quality of the articles passes the ‘holic minimum requirements test or else, where do we lack?
    Cheers

  28. on 24 Feb 2010 at 2:54 pm28A

My predo for the Stoke game:
delap strains his arm in the 10′ and we cruise to a 0-2 win 🙂

  29. on 24 Feb 2010 at 4:56 pm29Hazza

    Hah, awesome vid, ‘holic.

  30. on 24 Feb 2010 at 4:58 pm30Skye

A non video comment if I may but more to do with them ads. As it turns out I want to order the arsenal 88/89 shirt off the site and if it means it’ll help the old ‘holic with his admin costs I’d love to click through from here.

Only thing is, I can’t bloody see ’em 🙂 Excuse my shoddy eyesight holic but my contacts must be acting up!

  31. on 24 Feb 2010 at 5:06 pm31Ingmar Bergman

There is a branch of the family on Canvey island. They always speak highly of you.

  32. on 24 Feb 2010 at 7:15 pm32Matt

That excellent video made me turn off adblock. I wish we could watch the uncensored version though, the one with the drunken old sod 😉

  33. on 24 Feb 2010 at 7:41 pm33Goonerholic

Thanks Skye, but it is only selected offers from the club on here. Just head for the shop at arsenal.com to order your shirt. They don’t need help from the likes of me to shift them. Brilliant shirt, I agree.

‘holic, I actually think the camerawork is better than a lot the guff dished up by Sky – you know the sort of thing – close ups of Capello in the crowd just as a striker is bearing down on goal – and other inane broadcasting cliches.

I’m with Matt tho – the uncensored version would have been good, but you’re obviously thinking of the children 😉

  35. on 25 Feb 2010 at 1:20 am35mr d

Too late for Oscar contention, I fear, ‘holic. 😉

  36. on 25 Feb 2010 at 5:39 pm36behind the 8 ball but not nasri

    ‘Holic,

In honor or dishonor to our visit to the potteries this weekend, I composed (or perhaps recalled from distant memory) these verses:

There once was a bloke from Stoke
whose nose was stuffed with coke.
    His mum widened her gap
    and sat in his lap.
All in all he had quite a poke.

You may wonder if this is how Rory Delap got his name but I will leave this for you to ponder. In the meantime I’m trying to hatch a plot to help Delap strain his arm as A predicts will happen in #28.

  37. on 25 Feb 2010 at 6:21 pm37A

What if delap doesn’t get any action for a coupla days?Would definitely strain his hand then. Or at the very least His groin….

Maybe kidnapping his better half is the solution then?

  38. on 25 Feb 2010 at 6:30 pm38A

Might have a point about the names #36…
    Tony pul’is
    ricardo full’er
    James b(e)attie
    rory de’lap

Probably have a few more but couldn’t be bothered to think that much about the pot-ters….

  39. on 25 Feb 2010 at 8:18 pm39behind the 8 ball but not nasri

I think we can knock them off their porcelain throne.

  40. on 26 Feb 2010 at 9:21 am40Skye

    Cheers ‘holic 🙂
