Turn The Sound Down, It's Naughty Video Time Again!

Mar 10th, 2010 by 'holic

Twenty-four hours on, and I’m still buzzing after the Porto game. That was excellent and compulsive viewing, made even better by the fact I had a lie-in this morning and a day off. Life is good!

Now the preview was originally intended to incorporate another film by a fan (well they are all the rage at the moment!) of the weekend defeat of Burnley. Sadly it wasn’t quite ready by the time I hit the publish button, so a little late it is here.

Daryl was creating the piece around the banners of support for Aaron Ramsey, which was a good idea. For those yet to get to the Grove it is another sample of the matchday experience, this time in the upper tier at what is set to become the new Clock End.

A word of warning is in order. If you are watching this at work, turn the sound off. If you are a mother or father make sure your parental block will catch this. If Mum and Dad are in the next room, turn the sound right down. Daryl, you are a bad lad!

OK, now don’t forget to turn the sound up again, or they will wonder what you were up to…

Armoury Square Stones Selling Fast

Armoury Square is the new landmark at the Grove made up of personalised granite stones set in to the ground around benches dedicated to the Club’s greatest players. It’s a place where Arsenal fans will be side by side with the legends, and leave their message for others to share.

Over 10,000 Arsenal fans have already made their mark with their own personalised stones. I’m told, also, that there are now only a limited amount of stones available for Arsenal fans to purchase. The first stones will be laid in May 2010, and all profits from Armoury Square will go towards the Arsenalisation of the Grove.

So if you have been waiting until the last minute to purchase yours (so have I!) then can I ask, nay beg, you to do so by clicking on the ad under the Goonerholic title, or in the sidebar, to get yours before the chance slips away. I’m not averse to a bit of grovelling, as you can see.

UPDATE. I just got something of a surprise when I went to buy mine. The single stones are SOLD OUT. The red double stones are SOLD OUT. There are still some white double stones remaining, and of course the larger, and more expensive, stones. Whether or not you buy via my link, do it quickly if you were intending to buy these and thought, like me, you had all the time in the world.

    Hi Goonerholic,

Thanks, just a note to the guy in the clip who gets up out of his seat to call B52 rubbish…. I bet he has changed his tune after the Porto game.

great blog, keep up the great work.

Nice vid Daryl, good work. What camera do you have?

  3. on 10 Mar 2010 at 8:51 pm3Goonerholic

One of them rectangular cunts, I think Snail 😉

  4. on 10 Mar 2010 at 9:07 pm4Matt

Vielen dank `holik! We love these videos even with a c**t in them.

Atm I’m enjoying watching the 3rd club in the french ligue 1 dominate the neo-galacshitos. Should be mandated to watch by the buy-buy-buy crowd…

  5. on 10 Mar 2010 at 9:08 pm5Dp

Does anybody else still think that we actually need chamakh? Bentdner is making a step toward being the player he thinks he is and we of course have rvp. I don’t think we need him but he will of course be free. If we got him where would he play? Would he be a back up to rvp? If so, ahead of b52? Great blog ‘holic

  6. on 10 Mar 2010 at 9:14 pm6Matt

@Dp: We have too many players in the team and an amazing pool of upcoming talent. Arsene will have to make hard choices and we can expect players to be sold. Pehaps Chamakh will be a replacement for Eddie. But then what about Jay Simpson? JET? Gilles Sunu? Wellington Silva?

  7. on 10 Mar 2010 at 9:20 pm7Matt

The one french player I would not mind us buying is Hugo Lloris.

Madrid out btw. 20 minutes to go and 2 goals to score to qualify. 200 millions. Hahaha.

  8. on 10 Mar 2010 at 9:24 pm8Larry Mbaco

How crap is Mathieu Flamini these days?

  9. on 10 Mar 2010 at 9:27 pm9Matt

Since Flamini plays once a month as a sub it’s hard to assess…

Cracking end of game at Madrid. Real are all out attacking now, I’m betting on a deadly counter-attack before then final whistle.

  10. on 10 Mar 2010 at 9:31 pm10red25

Lloris is CLASS, but we may have missed the boat coos he just signed for lyon… he’d cost a packet now. good investment tho

  11. on 10 Mar 2010 at 9:34 pm11Matt

He’d be worth the money though. He really looks like the next Buffon/Casillas.

Really enjoyable game if you root against Madrid of course. Now they are being humilated, end of official time and the Bernabeu is just about to boo their players.

  12. on 10 Mar 2010 at 9:42 pm12Matt

This is the end of our captain’s dream. We will not face RM in the final at the Bernabeu. Hahahahahaha.

    • Cristiano Ronaldo – £80m
    • Kaka – £56m
    • Karim Benzema – £35m
    • Xabi Alonso – £30m (TBC)
    • Raul Albiol – £12.7m
    • Alvaro Negredo – £4.2m
    • Alvaro Arbeloa – £3.5m
    • Esteban Granero – £3.4m
    • Total: £224.8m

Nothing to worry about. They’ll sack the manager a couple of times in the next 6 months and they’ll buy another 4-5 players twice their market price this summer.

    £224.8m. Hahahahaha.

  13. on 10 Mar 2010 at 9:51 pm13Larry Mbaco

Watching the Utd/Milan game, and all he’s done is run around like a headless chicken all game

  14. on 10 Mar 2010 at 9:59 pm14Pistol Pete

“Steven Gerrard will escape FA charges following allegations he aimed a V-sign at the referee during Monday’s defeat by Wigan.”

What a surprise! The FA darling was let off the hook again!
This asshole will get away with murder as well!
Had it been an Arsenal player he would have been docked for 3 or 4 matches…guaranteed!

  15. on 10 Mar 2010 at 10:04 pm15Matt

Daryl: Thank you, it’s a great video really! And in 720p to boot. It’s really cool to see and hear the crowd when we score 😉 Looks like the view from the upper tier is great too.

  16. on 10 Mar 2010 at 10:32 pm16rastique12

sorry, i´m not english but what does the v-sign mean exactly, thx

  17. on 10 Mar 2010 at 10:40 pm17Ryan

Fuck you Madrid you classless cunts I’d live to see ronnys face when he hears utd destroyed the team who gave them big problems in the groups. Great arsenal video too. I think eboue is out of contract this summer we gotta sort that

  18. on 10 Mar 2010 at 10:49 pm18Matt

@rastique: it’s the middle finger in the rest of the world but the brits are morphologically different and so the V-sign reflects that.

  19. on 10 Mar 2010 at 11:11 pm19rastique12

to matt: really? i´ve never seen that anywhere (films included), i thought it means “you can lick…”, something like malouda did against us – just for my intercultural knowledge, is it a normaly used gesture or did he use it only because he couldn´t afford to show the middle finger?

  20. on 10 Mar 2010 at 11:44 pm20Goonerholic

Anybody seen BtM on any other sites? I miss him. 🙁

  21. on 10 Mar 2010 at 11:49 pm21Matt

The myth goes this way: before the Azincourt battle (1415), the french declared they would cut the fingers of the english longbowmen they would capture (the english long bow was a much more efficient weapon than the french crossbow). Before/during the battle the english supposedly were flicking the V-sign to the french to taunt them. It worked, the french lost.

    More here:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/V_sign

  22. on 10 Mar 2010 at 11:59 pm22Matt

Ditto for Btm, I was just about to write the same thing. His game reports are second to none. Let’s hope he is on holidays on some paradise islands and he only gets satellite tv but no internet. I’ve tried to compensate his quality writings by quantity but it’s not the same thing 😉

Btw did you know how influential Bendtner is?
According to Bettorlogic Player Pro, over the last 50 games the Gunners have a win percentage of 52 per cent without Nicklas Bendtner.
With him in the side, the win-rate rockets up to a whopping 76 per cent.
To put that into perspective, over that same period just 66 per cent of the games Arshavin has played have been victories, 64 per cent for Fabregas and a miserable 52 per cent for Van Persie.

    From here: http://www.goal.com/en/news/9/england/2010/03/10/1826323/arsenal-comment-nicklas-bendtner-is-arsene-wengers-most-valuable-

  23. on 11 Mar 2010 at 12:34 am23Steve T

BTM was last seen at Eastlands helping Ade pack.

I agree with the comments re Lloris. He would be great for this team. Looked head and shoulders above anything we have at the moment.

rastique12, watch Trainspotting, Mean Machine and Football Factory in particular. V Well explained Matt.

Any one else looking at getting a stone @ Armoury Square?

Compared to Mad-Rid, we only got Sol (for free!!!) and what an inspired re-signing he has turned be.

I bet Ronaldo is REAL MAD to have gotten RID of his United contract. I woner if his mum came to pick his up from Bernabeu (like a certain Mrs. Shawcross).

  25. on 11 Mar 2010 at 12:50 am25Goonerholic

Actually C1, a lot of people I know have combined to get one. I think I am a contributor to 3 that were bought by groups, but I wanted one to include the name of ‘holicdad and myself. Thank goodness I checked tonight and got one I could afford.

  26. on 11 Mar 2010 at 12:59 am26oldgooner

Sorry ‘holic. Got mine before you got the Arsenal advertising gig, otherwise you know I would have got it through here.

Just to piss you off I got the cheap one I could afford.

Forget that. Have you dropped Cascarino a line after he wrote a load of shit about Nick again before last night? Wife-beating cunt.

Same here ‘holic. I was lucky to go through your site to get one I could afford too. Now I can tell my son that daddy got him a piece of history at the square!! Nice!!

love this post and the video mate… maddness up in the upper tier. Following every game from here in Canada. keep the videos coming! RvP and B52 will dominate next year, no need for more strikers,,, a goalie and a proven player who can fill in for Song, who in my opinion is the most improved player this year.. flamini who?

  29. on 11 Mar 2010 at 6:06 am29BGun

Terrific video Daryl. Especially loved the shots of the crowd and the reactions on the goal. Of course, the best reaction was the one for which ‘holic had asked us to turn the volume down ;-). Thanks for posting the video ‘holic.

  31. on 11 Mar 2010 at 9:51 am31paul

Sorry, I had to turn that off, it’s a pale imitation of A Night at the Emirates. We have a couple of wankers (moaning bastards) behind us in block 13 very similar. They should make you go through a supporter test before they allow you attend match’s. Cascarino and Collymore are not intelligent enough to talk about football, don’t listen to them!

Once again, sorry to moan but not my cup of tea!

  32. on 11 Mar 2010 at 10:16 am32Ollie

Is that your mate I’m hearing at the start, ‘holic? 😉

    G&T please.

  33. on 11 Mar 2010 at 1:24 pm33CHIPPY

Not being funny but what it is with people and filming stuff nowadays carnt they just go to the game and watch it ???, They give me the right arse sitting their with there cameras out no wonder the Atmosphere at games is dead !!!

  34. on 11 Mar 2010 at 7:36 pm34Goon

    Two words! Mooooooooo Mooooooooo’s

  35. on 11 Mar 2010 at 7:58 pm35Matt

Daryl & `Holic, please don’t listen to the 2 grumpies above. Keep thinking about the HUGE MAJORITY of Arsenal fans who are either too far or outpriced to attend to the games. We love these videos, it gives us a taste of what we miss so much. And these are likely the best memories we’ll ever have as it could be that year when finally we won it all.

Please keep `em coming guys! And many thanks!

I would LOVE it if an away fan could take a video. Our away supporters are the best in the league, wherever we go they make it feel like it’s a 50/50 crowd. Pretty please?

@CHIPPY: those people are actually thoughtful of the community. They are aware that they are privileged and they are kind enough to share the experience with the less fortunate fans. As for the impact on the atmosphere at the games that is just laughable. Are you implying the entire stadium was packed with cameramen against Burnley?

  36. on 11 Mar 2010 at 8:00 pm36Matt

This season, it looks like Liverpool is going to crash out of Europe before us. Twice.

  37. on 11 Mar 2010 at 9:13 pm37ArthurTheGooner

    Evcening Holics,

I liked this video clip very much and those two above should stop moaning, to be honest with you some fans will always find something to moan about. This is a inside job and just goes to show what goes on at a game and it certainly does not mean the atmosphere is crap beacuse of it.

Like Matt mentioned the away fans make so much noise at games it’s untrue so it really just goes to show that most fans at home rather boo their own players than support them. Correct me if that’s not the case. If we would even drew that game NB 52 would got the boo’s on his way out.

Anyway I don’t want to o into one here beacuse frankly they are just waste of space but hey there is not a lot you can do about that.

Yes Scousers lost yet again and Fulham is loosing 3:1, second half has just started.

Liverpool will have real problems soon and it looks like Rafa is on his way out too. I can see him staying at the club if they wont reach 4th spot in the league.

Thanks to Daryl for sharing and to Holic for yet again good post!

    Keep it up chaps!

Sex on beach for me barman please, I have had enough of this cold weather now 🙂

    Well said Matt #35

  39. on 11 Mar 2010 at 9:53 pm39zicoinexile

    Daryl / ‘Holic

Nice one. There was absolutely no sign of that type of language where I was sat on Saturday – I must have been unlucky to be stuck with the Rupert and Monty crew (copyright “IUFGN”).

There are definitely a lot of Johnny come lately fans at Arsenal these days who moan about just about anything, and certainly don’t realise just how privileged they are to watch Arsene Wenger’s teams (whether we are winning trophies or not – this is a golden time).

Like you ‘holic, I am still buzzing after Tuesday night.

Saturday can’t come soon enough – question is – how do I watch the game AND go to my daughter’s 18th birthday party? (Sky plus recording in a haze post midnight, having tried to avoid the score jst won’t work for me….)

  40. on 11 Mar 2010 at 11:32 pm40AFC1974

Zicoinexile – easy, you rearrange it to a sports bar with a plethora of flats. “And the reason is sweety, because you are 18 now. Well it’s not my fault they’re showing that nasty football game”. Heh!

  41. on 12 Mar 2010 at 12:24 am41Matt

@zicoinexile: at the same time she will be 18 once in her life and Arsenal plays agin the following week. I feel your pain to have to make that choice at this time in the season which is why I’m going to kill the suspense and spoil it for you so you don’t have to watch it live: we are going to win it 😉

@Arthur: I think the best thing Pool could do now is to swap Benitez for Pellegrini and some cash. Benitez would have the players bought for him and for the rest he would be OK there for a year or two max, Pellegrini would make Liverpool an attractive attacking team again. Still it will take them a few years to be back in contention for a top 4 spot. Because this year they have no chance to make it as 1) they don’t have the right attitude on the pitch and 2) it’s not one but 3 clubs that they have to overtake in 9 games.
Incidentally it also shows that our lads benefited a lot from the fight last year. They could teach Torres, Gerrars and co a few things about fighting spirit…

  42. on 12 Mar 2010 at 1:13 am42Matt

The Liverpool forums crack me up! Here’s a selection:

“Sheesh, even Portsmouth are like a Barca for us now! ”
“rafa wanted “the real liverpool” and if thats what we saw we are truly fu**ed.”
“Great result for us. We could have been 5 or 6 down at half time alone.”
“Brilliant game. At least we got a good result. Well done Stevie, back to your best.”
“Thanks for the full effort. Thats why we support the team through bad and good. We know they’ll pay it back!”
“we did play well 1st half… Apart from the first 44 and a half minutes.”
“Personally, I blame Lucas.” (their boo boy)
“I blame Voronin myself. He dropped some hair on Lille on his way to Russia and it blocked our shots.”
“The reaction of the players was really good according to Rafa. I happen to disagree.”
“Our beloved leader once again plays his master stroke. Takes Babel off and replaces him with Riera.”
” Hey kick your cat mate, don’t kick me. You are obviously blind and never watch the game and know nothing about anything.”
“I’ve deleted 5 bickering and sniping posts already in here. Who’s next?”
Ensues a long argument whether some guy should keep spelling Kuyt “Kite”

    hahahaha

  43. on 12 Mar 2010 at 5:48 am43Prateek-NYC

AFC1974 @ 40 – thanks but I can’t see Mrs Zico agreeing to relocate the party at the last minute – whilst she is tolerant of most things Arsenal, that may be a bridge too far!

Matt @ 40 – thanks for putting my mind at rest 🙂 – I’ll jog on and enjoy the party now.

What a crock of shit so sitting there swearing at nothing in particular whilst aiming a camera around makes you a proper fan what a crock of shit, Its what Tourists do !!!!!

No but it dosent help when sections of the support are sat there thinking they are the next David bloody Bailey sorry but its just one of my pet hates, !

Oh and them away fans you are on about have a high percentage of Supporters that wont actually set foot in that branded spacebowl for the above reasons,,

  47. on 12 Mar 2010 at 10:47 am47Arthur The Gooner

    @ CHIPPY

Cool off mate what is your problem exactly?

What is wrong with a short clip of the game the build up outside etc?

I tell you what mate, I take my camera with me to every game cos I wan’t to have either photos or films to look at them at some point and if I was to share it with others there is nothing wrong with it either. Some fans are not as fortunate as we are and they will probably be able to see a handful of games in their lifetime.

Have some respect mate I say if you don’t like it don’t watch it simple as that.

  48. on 12 Mar 2010 at 11:46 am48CHIPPY

    Arthur,
No problem at all its just a pet hate of mine and i was making a point and asking a question as to why people spend half the match filming stuff, it makes no sense to me, Fine i understand taking pictures and stuff outside the ground, but once your in it watching a game thats what you should be doing surely why spend half the match with a camera filming it if thats the case watch it on the tele ?? It just seems some people are in this youtube vaccum and the reason for going to a live game has been lost but if thats what you enjoy go with it i suppose,

And by the way it seems your the one with the problem if you dont like my point of view dont respond hey,

Have some respect mate I say if you don’t like it don’t watch it simple as that.

Anyway I don’t want to go into one here beacuse frankly they are just waste of space but hey there is not a lot you can do about that.

and those two above should stop moaning, to be honest with you some fans will always find something to moan about.

And please dont call me mate after every sentance its quite condescending,

  49. on 12 Mar 2010 at 11:54 am49Matt

Shhhhhushhhhh Arthur this is an exceptional specimen that destiny laid to our doorstep. I’m sure you’ve guessed his lair by now, that blog where the customary greeting is a genitalia-themed insult. You know, A Cultured Left Foot? Just kidding he’s from Le Groan of course. We are graced at regular intervals by the occasional miasms from their anti-arsenal eructations. They have the seen the light and they come across to remind us lowlifes of the abjection that everything positive towards Arsenal, Arsene or the players represents.

Nothing new so far but wait. This one is special. Not because he’s a real gooner unlike you (that’s because he is third generation, grandad Chippy was a gooner whereas it’s been only 30 years for you and perhaps your father was into cricket even).
Ladies and gentlemen, Chippy is the real deal. He put his money where his mouth is and renounced his season ticket last summer because the players and Arsene have no ambition and no talent, they are only playing for the money and they’ll never win anything. He was very happy about it when we lost to United and Chelski but he hasn’t written about his elation too much recently, instead he has developed a nice case of multiple personality disorder as he tries to rationalize his decision. Following the teachings of his leaders he knows that inarticulate venting is the path to self-absolution with the usual scapegoating along the way.

We ought to be charitable so please go in peace Chippy in the knowledge that you made the right choice at the right time.

  50. on 12 Mar 2010 at 12:01 pm50CHIPPY

Matt, Dont leave out the bit about being surronded by divs hey

Ladies and gentlemen, Chippy is the real deal. He put his money where his mouth is and renounced his season ticket last summer because the players and Arsene have no ambition and no talent,

  51. on 12 Mar 2010 at 12:09 pm51Arthur The Gooner

    @ Chippy

I certainly don’t have a problem and if someone wants to film the whole game Jesus, let them if that’s what they like to do then fair play to them, it certainly doesn’t not mean they don’t support the team. Funny enough I never saw anyone filming half the match anyway so what is wrong with few clips to keep for yourself and share with the others. Mr Chippy Sir you make it sound like a criminal offence. I take you point but there is a feeling of negativity there and as we all know there are plenty of fans overloaded with this approach, hence my comments:

those two above should stop moaning, to be honest with you some fans will always find something to moan about

Daryl obviously has a massive hobby of filming and making short films and I think his work should be appreciated, his first piece was brilliant and so is this one. It shows great support for Arron and how fans behave at the game. If you go to games then it’s probably not for you but for others like I have mentioned earlier it’s probably a very good clip to watch.

Finally pardon for calling you ‘mate’ I wasn’t trying to sound patronising towards you in any way 😉

  52. on 12 Mar 2010 at 12:09 pm52CHIPPY

Oh and ill think if you go back on here ive questioned the club and some of the decisions theyve made on numerous different threads just because i question certain things and dont act like a sheep dosent make me a fool,I like this blog hence i read it have you a problem with that?,

  53. on 12 Mar 2010 at 12:10 pm53Matt

You are being cryptic Chippy. Do you mean those awful people who trust Wenger and think the current crop of players will come good?

  54. on 12 Mar 2010 at 12:11 pm54CHIPPY

Nah worries Arthur, It wasnt a personal pop at him it was more to do with this new whole culture of filming stuff,

  55. on 12 Mar 2010 at 12:13 pm55CHIPPY

Matt, I dont get what your asking me?

  56. on 12 Mar 2010 at 12:14 pm56Matt

    Who are the divs?

  57. on 12 Mar 2010 at 12:18 pm57CHIPPY

The Divs are creatures such as phfc that wear silly cowboy hats to football and are trying to change the day out into an experience that resembles an opera concert, The divs are the sort of people that use a text service aimed at grassing up fellow fans the divs are the people that have supported the club for the Wenger years and dont beleive Arsenal football club exsisted and will exist after his departure, Does that answer you question?

  58. on 12 Mar 2010 at 12:26 pm58Matt

Yes, thank you I see your point clearly. Last one if you don’t mind what is the text service you are talking about?

  59. on 12 Mar 2010 at 1:10 pm59CHIPPY

Wont clutter up the page so heres the link,

    http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/arsenal-introduce-anti-social-text-service

And yes i have become more negative with Arsenal since the move to the Emirates but it runs alot deeper than the players and Wenger, Arsenal used to mean alot more than a football Club it had principals and History but since the day Edelman was brought into the club they slowly started to go away from those principals Gazidis is an Improvement but theyve got an awful long way to go, Clock etc is great, They could start making more inroads by giving us our badge back !! That would make me happy 🙂 Oh and stop with all the conflicting interviews on Arsenal.com they do my nut in lol,

Look the way i see it Footballs bubble will burst and when that time comes they will need the next generation of fans which like it or not will mainly be from the surrounding areas how many local or any kids for that matter bar Carling Cup games are seen ? Theyve made the same mistake as many clubs by alienating the core support and the next generation in favour of the big bucks, very much along the lines of what the Italian leagues done in their own hayday,

Look im negative on certain things cos i still Love and what it stood for i just want them to remember those principals and not become another face in the crowd if that makes any kind of sense,

Blimey, I spend a day away and what happens. The ‘holics is debating! Good stuff, I think…

I have to say on the filming issue I was very much in your camp at one stage Chippy, but the response to Rohan’s film made me realise how many Arsenal fans around the world, who have only seen manicured television presentation of the games, have precious little idea of the matchday experience, and these films have helped them.

I have one proviso. If there is ever an incident between supporters at the Grove I never want to see that put up on any site, YouTube included. People innocently caught up in any shenanigans could get a knock at the door if that nonsense started.

Good to see people disagreeing without the usual personal abuse being bandied around. Thanks ‘holics.

I probably worded my initial response wrongly and some may have got the wrong end of the stick but i think we stood back from the edge of all out war lol ,

    Afternoon Holic`s

We have one of those games tomorrow were anything can happen. One thing to say this season we dont seem to get the strange results as we have been getting in the last couple of seasons at these places. When we would play well and come away with a draw or even beaten by a stupid goal that was easly avoidable.
I believe that is because the team as grown up an awlful lot over the last 6 months, and we can dig in and grind out a win when we have too. We have to as we dont have the good fortune of having 11 own goals go our way ( Man U ) or a string of late penalties ( Chelski )
I am hopping for a nice 3-0 win with no dramas late on.
    Come on Arsenal !
